I received a review copy of this book.
Lord of the System book 2 is the second book in this series, and while it's a bit of more of the same from the first book, it's also a steady progression, new world facts revealed, we learn there's more areas, dangers, and of course more skills as well. It's all very interesting, and there's even (some) of those crunchy stat screens folks like me like so much. I liked this one, and suspect many LitRPG fans will as well.

Unfortunately, the story was just okay

I found the plot really contrived.

Criticism and comments

While the concept of the plot- different groups who are try to restart society on another planet with minimal resources - is highly interesting, i found the approach wrong. The groups were too small and not diverse enough. I also disliked that the groups were defined by their former location and fenced in at the start. This caused a major loss of potential for the plot..

I really can’t decide if I enjoy these books or not, at times I find them quite engrossing but then there are times when I find the story just too random, l get the strong impression that the author has an idea and just shoves it into the book whether it makes sense or not.
If possible I would give 2.5 stars.
