Desperate to be dominated, twenty-five-year-old Rose signs up for a concubine training program and agrees to have her memory of consenting erased, allowing her to experience being forced to explore her fantasies of complete and utter submission.
Leo, a skilled case-agent for the program, captures Rose and puts her through a strict training regimen, in which her body is no longer her own but instead is Leo’s to command. He brings her to the Institute where she meets her training partner, Hannah, and also meets other men who she learns to call “Master”. During her time at the Institute, Rose is taught that obedience is not optional and that defiance will result in ever more humiliating punishments.
Once their training is complete, Rose and Hannah are purchased by a master and mistress and are brought back to the couple’s villa in the Caribbean. The girls thrive in their new roles, but when a traumatic experience causes Rose’s memory of her consent to come flooding back, will her realization that she wanted all of this from the beginning bring everything crashing down?
Emily Tilton, whose books have hit number one on Amazon in six different erotica categories, wishes she could live out her fantasies of submission the way her characters do.
Emily's erotica is a narrative version of her nearly lifelong quest to reconcile her submissive erotic orientation with her ethics. She writes erotic romance, but her books are always frankly and unashamedly about sex, because writing about sex helps her understand that fundamental part of her life better. She hopes maybe it does the same for her readers.
Over the many years since Emily became aware of her sometimes unbearable craving for spanking, ravishment, and all the shameful things that go with it, she has tried to come to terms with that craving in more ways than she can count. The first of the ways was by reading, voraciously, every piece of BDSM erotica she could find.
Eventually, she read "Story of O." As is reflected throughout her work, it changed her life, though the change has been gradual, and continues to this day. The idea that other women might share the lusts she has by turns been ashamed of and defiantly proud of, that a woman like the real Pauline Réage might write so beautifully of those lusts, and work them out so thoroughly and even pitilessly on a character, put Réage's famous pencil in her right hand. Or, to put it in the terms of EXPLORATIONS, which she considers her magnum opus, it put her left hand on the keyboard of her laptop and her right hand in her lap, if you know what she means. Emily started to write spanking stories.
Because life at the moment means I want some light fluffy smut to take my mind of things, I'm slowly working my way through by Emily Tilton.
Bought and Trained is an erotic flight of fancy read, but one that is well written, with flow, consistency and solid characters. It has a lot, A LOT, of spanking along with lots of BDSM style play. It skirts the dub-con borderline, though at heart it is a consensual read.
I did get distracted by the author randomly shoving us into another characters head, but I always found I could follow the story. It isn't big on emotion nor is there a love story, this is a young woman's awakening to sexual self-awareness.
I thoroughly enjoyed all it's naughty, filthiness!
Original Review - A very hot and entertaining read. A nice twist on dubious/non-consent without the genuine darkness.
i have no fucking words 😮💨🥵🥵 if you’re into these tropes, please please give this a read! you definitely won’t regret it!! 😍😋
tropes: -D/s -MFFF *Master, Mistress & their 2 girls -gang bangs -harems (girls on girls) -DP -sex slaves in training -anal/painal -bondage -LOTS of discipline/punishments *spankings, paddling’s, whips, butt plugs, etc -institute with concubines for sale -CNC -HEA
triggers: -use of the words “beat/beating” when referring to punishment -any of the tropes could be triggers to you, so proceed with caution! 🫶🏼
spice: -10,000/5 🥵 a scene pretty much every other page 😮💨
Rose is kidnapped by Leo and taken to the Institute by Leo for training.
As the description explains, she actually signed up for this but they somehow have developed some mindwipe technology that makes her forget she chose this.
Which, honestly, makes the story a bit hotter.
Side Note: If you do the math based on the dates of all the other books in the series, this is taking place right around 2000. They are all worth reading but the early books probably more so. Eventually the books end up in the 2030s and in a US where women have lot of whole lot of Civil Rights in a way that would require some major Constitutional Amendments. At that point, it starts jumping the shark.
The capturing and training of a submissive - where the submissive agrees to be captured and mind wiped to facilitate. It's an intriguing concept and pretty well executed. The writing is good. It's almost 3 little books in one because of the changes that happen - and that didn't work as well as I had expected. The scenes are definitely hot - and the appearance of Non-con where the reader knows it is consensual certainly removes some of the edge of the novel. I'm more a like the edge type person - but this is certainly a good series to pick up for anyone who has had a capture fantasy (whether that fantasy has the captor being a Scottish Highlander, an English Lord, a Native American Chief, etc).
This book takes you into learning what it truly means to be a submissive. Rose allows herself to be hypnotized and becomes a submissive .She learns that her body belongs to whoever is around at the moment and no hole is off limits. She learns she is property. This book is very hard to put down and looking forward to reading other books in The Institute series.
Almost a beginners guide to BDSM play - For adults only!
I guess like most people that have read some type of romance that contains aspects of BDSM, I have wondered what psychological aspects someone could have that would contribute to them making the decision to join the lifestyle. I am not sure if there are any places like the Institute in real life, but I did like how this story stressed throughout that all participants volunteered, whether they remember it now or not. I think it could be easy for someone to take advantage of a submissive and utilize abuse and assault versus what should be involved and this story utilizes the storyline to demonstrate what a D/s relationship could involve or be structured, which is different than domestic violence.
This story is definitely for those that are 18+. It contains explicit details between multiple willing participants, adult language, and violence (punishments consisting of slaps, spankings with various items, sex toys, and intimate acts - all agreed to before the relationship begins whether the submissive remembers it or not currently). If any of these are triggers, or offensive to you, then this is not the story or series for you.
This story is about Rose, her friend Joann, and how she came to be at the Institute. Rose is recently divorced and has never been sexually satisfied. He ex was not interested in learning what her fantasies were, or making sure she was satisfied physically. Now Rose has been experimenting, but realizes that even though she has submissive tendacies (and lots of fantasies about what some consider taboo topics), she knows that she will never be able to act on them herself. She needs help and that is why Joann referred her and will be one of the people monitoring Rose to make sure that she has the experience she truly desires, as she will be hypnotized after all of the contracts and bank accounts are set up. Then later to fulfill her wishes of "being forced" by another, a man will come to start her training / breaking into the life of a concubine.
I'm not sure this is my cup of tea. Of course, heroine off site signed some kind of legal document and she allegedly wanted all those things done to her however what I like about BDSM stories is the power that sub is holding that she/he can stop the act at any time and here heroine had no option to do that unless she gets her memory back by accident. From her POV she got abducted by force and everything she saw or was told made her think she cannot walk out at any time or has an option to stop everything when something is simply too much physically or mentally. Even her friend Joanne was not looking into any actions done live. So in my opinion all this made it very unsafe place. I do not think even volunteers had safe word in place. At least from what we are shown. Maybe heroine has some machoistic tendencies but very deeply buried as she do not actively seek punishment for the pain itself. She doesn't want pain at all and does everything to be counted as "a good girl". When David is beating her every night she cannot understand why he does it cause she sees no reason. And the way she says she get used to that is telling more about her ability to reconcile with things more than about her enjoying it. Scene with Uncle Peter is very wrong I think. Even if she signed the document saying she agrees it might happen. She has no option to change her mind in that moment so she has no power to stop if she absolutely need to. And David is just thinking about how turned on he is by Peter forcing himself on Rose not looking for Rose's feelings at all. Setting tells us pick-up suppose to struggle otherwise they are not worth all that amount of money, but this still feels too wrong for me. Blushing and being ashamed is very different from being honestly scared and over one's head. Sorry, just probably not my thing. I'm leaving it on BDSM shelf although not sure it belongs there.

I was not sure I would like this book. Hell, two-thirds through it, I was not sure I would like it.
This is not a romance. This is a work of rather ritualistic fetishized erotica. The setup is that there is an organization that can train submissives for (very well-compensated and with protections) slavery. But that some submissives want to not know that they have consented to any such deal -- they want the illusion that they have been truly abducted and are truly being forced into what they desparately want to do. And some owners want that illusion also.
And, in these books at least, hypnosis will provide appropriate amnesia.
In order to enjoy these books, you have to enjoy the sense of erotic shame that Rose embraces. And you have to be good with the very stylized interactions and erotica. And almost criminal overuse of the word "naughty". But, yeah, with those caveats, it works. Quite well, surprisingly.
The scene at the end where Rose has to confront her real desires and make the decision of whether or not to accept herself and her desires and continue, voluntarily and enthusiastically, to embrace her role was, to me, the most powerful and interesting scene in the book.
I read Emily Tipton in the past and hated her work so this was a retry after reading a lot more BDSM. It is well written and well edited but I didn’t like the concept of what her final owner was going to do with her and her friend. There is really no love in this story though at the end everyone says they love each other but to me it seemed more like a Stockholm response. If you like strong BDSM, humiliation and hard punishments you will like this book. If you don’t you better not buy it.
I never thought Emily Tilton could write a book like this! I was so turned on by it. I squirmed all the way through it! The only reason I gave it four stars was it ramped me up until the last 30 pages or so. Then I just got bored with it it dragged so much I just wanted it to be over. It was overall a screamingly sensual experience.
This book is an adults only book very x-rated book. It is very descriptive and not for the faint hearted has a lot more naughty than 50 Shades of Grey so if you don't like that kind of thing do not get this book
The storyline is very very different from anything else I have read and incredibly details and interesting as well as very sexy. But it is quite extreme so it might not suit everyone - though is a very compelling read!!!
This is the first book I have read by this author, the characters and story line were an interesting concept and it is very well written. If you like steamy stories and spanking worth a read.
Well this one was different. I really enjoyed this unique storyline, there was a certain edge to it that I enjoyed. The setting was very extreme but nothing the characters couldn’t handle. With a great performance from Cliff it really did enhance the whole experience.
Despite my best efforts, I couldn't connect with the story so I stopped reading after chapter four. It just didn't appeal to me at all. I usually love stories with taboo sexual encounters but this is like words put together without a plot.
2+ 1/2 stars. It was okay although I expected a little more depth and maybe a different ending. I suppose I naively expected it to be a romance. No romance to be found though.
This is a five star heat plus. The plot is not intense but the romantic sexuality is the really the plot line. This goes so well with the Mithraism books.
Not sure how to rate this. It’s quite different from what I expected and in its uniqueness, quite titillating. But if you’re looking for love, romance, a chase, a hero, tenderness, this ain’t it.
I think I liked this book...? I loved the concept of the institute, and how Rose comes to be there. There was some wonderfully hot sex and punishment, but then there were also times that I found myself bored and waiting for the next 'wow' moment. It was those high and low contrasts that make me question my enjoyment of the book overall - there was something lacking in the flow of the story and whatever that was, it kept me from becoming fully invested in the story.
Not sure if I will read further into the series...I'll check out the reviews first I think...
Complexe. Disturbing. Kind of funny sometimes. Well written. In one word: unusual. « You may be wondering, Rose,” he said, “what you’re supposed to do if you absolutely have to say something, like, ‘Master, there is a man with a gun behind you.’ Not that you would warn me about that, at least right now. »
This was my first book from Emily Tilton, a good surprise and a good read.
This book was so well written and so intriguing that I read straight through. It is a look at a different BDSM lifestyle and a thought process that brings the characters to their unconventional choices.
I found this book by chance, and fell in love with it. The story was well structured and the characters were relatable. It portrayed the kink scene well, which is unusual in books like these. The author either is a submissive or has done some research about the subject. Would recommend
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
First of all I have never read anything like this. Rose the heroine is paid money to be trained as a concubine and she will be sold to the highest bidder. Interesting right. Rose is purchased by a couple. She wants to be dominated this is a definite sexier then sexy read and will not be to everyone's tastes.if you read this be ready to be blown away and treated to a experience you may never forget
