If there’s one thing Dakota Darling hates— it’s men. There’s not a single man that she trusts, and she wholeheartedly believes their only purpose is to help reproduce. But if there’s one man she’d like to kill more than all the others, it’s Nicholas Crew. He encompasses everything that she hates: a big ego, a playboy personality, and a careless attitude.

Nicholas Crew loves women— besides Dakota Darling. She’s bratty and far too bold for his liking. As a committed NHL player and certified womanizer, Crew is used to girls falling at his feet, not getting angry at the sight of him.

So when a mishap with their apartment leases causes them to be forced to live together, along with their two best friends, a war is sure to break out. As they try to survive their new living arrangement, Crew’s only focus is to ensure the wicked witch doesn’t ruin every aspect of his life, whereas Kota’s main goal is to not end up in prison for murder.

With time, they realize that the only thing stronger than hatred may not be love after all— it might be lust. As the two draw closer, breaking the house-wide “no hooking up” rule may not be the only problem they have.

For a girl that doesn’t believe in vulnerability and a guy that doesn’t believe in commitment, these two might have met their match.

The Ice Match is the second book in The Roommates Duet and while I didn't read the first one, I was still excited to read this one. There are many things I loved about this book including the pranks, the snark, the banter but I really loved how Crew & Kota built their relationship over time and I think they make a wonderful couple. I was a little put off by the length of this book as I prefer my romance books on the 300-350 page rage but I was sucked right into this one anyway. I definitely want to go back and read the first book now as I think I would enjoy it even more now.

Thank you LoveNotes PR and the author for access to the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book was seriously so good. You really go through a lot of thoughts and feelings with the two main characters, Kota & Crew. You get to know them, their character, backgrounds, etc throughout the book and the way these characters progress.

I lovedddd the enemies to lovers aspect. I’m a sucker for a good enemies to lovers book. Especially a hockey romance enemies to lovers.

There’s not third act break up which I really appreciate. I feel like most romances especially hockey romances have that and it was really great reading something similar but not in the same sense.

I think what made this special for me was that I really related to Kota’s character. Her background with her “sperm donor” is very very similar to mine. I’ve never read a book that I’ve been able to connect to in that way 🫶🏻

If you like hockey sports romances, enemies to lovers, guy falls first, bold stubborn main characters, no third act break up….I’d recommend this book!! Also it’s SPICY AS HELLLLL!

I was going to give this book 3 stars because I thought there were some things not well developed. But I've just realised that book 1 is about Lane and Bridget and probably most of the things I was concerned about were resolved there. So I'm going to read it as well.

Even though I had 'problems' concerning Lane and Bridget, I loved Crew and Kota so much. The way their relationship developed from hating each other and having to live in the same apartment, to the inability to be separate from one other.

Crew's growth is really beautiful, the way he managed to face off his fears concerning his parents. And his relationship with Lane is something unbelievable.
I do believe this book was a bit too long though and many times skipped some parts.

Still, I want to thank Trinity Lemm and Love Notes pr for the arc. All opinions are my own

Thank you, Trinity for the arc of The Ice match, out now!

I honestly had fun seeing both Dakota and Nicholas prank each other. I haven't read a book with pranks in a while, so the tricks they played on each other and the sneaking around was super fun! I liked the sneaking around, they had chemistry, and I love jealousy scenes always, so overall it was an okay read.

I definitely feel this book did not have to be as long as it was, I did not like how Nicholas reacted about periods, and I was bothered by how many times Starbucks was mentioned here, it felt a little too excessive.

I found out book 1 is Lane and Bridget's story so I am so going back to read them, cause I loved seeing their snippets here <3 thank you so much Trinity for the arc!

- Forced proximity/roommates

arc review !!

TROPES:
❆ forced proximity
❆ hate at first sight
❆ reformed playboy

the ice match is the second book in the roommates duet ! it’s focused on crew and dakota while book one follows lane and bridget’s story.

it’s hot girl senior year for bridget and dakota but in a very different way than what they had imagined ! the girls think they’re finally free since they got a lease in a new apartment but… lane and crew also got a lease for a new apartment and apparently no one read the updated version because instead of the friends getting a two-bedroom they got themselves sharing a four-bedroom apartment with bridget and dakota for the rest of the year !!

them living together will always be funny because the pranks were on 24/7 especially when dakota kept traumatizing crew with tampons and one direction shrine. but the fun ends when we learn about how dakota feels towards men because of her dad not being present in her life while crew’s parents are divorced and keep complaining about each other at every chance they got.

as a result we have crew and dakota hooking up and realizing they aren’t their parents to in the end, being in a relationship together <3 crew washing her hair and dakota attempting to draw was everything to me !!

i really think the book could have been around 350-400 pages but it’s what it’s. i know this is a duet but do we get more books with the hockey players?? would love to know what goes through tj’s mind and what’s matt and el’s deal.

thank you love notes pr and trinity lemm for the arc in exchange for an honest review <3

ARC review *mild spoilers*

I honestly enjoyed reading this, I’ve been excited for Crew & Kota’s book since the puck arrangement and they didn’t disappoint!! Their chemistry was unmatched just like their banter. The prank wars were hilarious 😭. I LOVED how Crew was SO whipped and was practically begging Kota to stay (sorry I love my men obsessed). I honestly believed Kota would’ve gotten pregnant because I thought there was a bit of foreshadowing in some of their conversations, but I was wrong lol!! One thing I think would’ve made this a 5 star read was if the ending wasn’t as rushed, and it felt as if the focus was more on Lane and Bridget rather than Crew and Kota.

But I’m extremely excited for Matt & El’s book (I’m guessing there will be one because of all the crumbs) but best friends to lovers I’m seated 🤭!!

Tropes:
Roommates
Forbidden/off-limits
Enemies (with benefits) to lovers
Secret relationship
Reformed playboy
Hockey romance

Thank you to Trinity Lemm for providing the arc 🩵🩵

The Ice Match gives us Kota & Crew's story in this duet! I loved how fiesty Kota was when we met her in The Puck Arrangement, but I loved learning more about her. Growing up with a strong single mom, Kota is set on the fact that she does not need a man to make her happy. In fact she straight up despises some men, Crew included. The banter between these two is funny and I love a good hate to love story! And when they do open up a bit more, I couldn't resist softening my heart a bit. I love the spice between them, and the sneaking around so no one finds out! There is a lot of overlap with the plot that we saw in the first book, but just from Kota & Crew's POVs.

Tropes:
-Enemies to lovers
-Hockey hotshot x bold FMC
-Hate at first sight
-Forced proximity
-Roommates to lovers
-Reformed playboy
-No third act breakup
-Found family

Thank you so much to Trinity Lemm and Love Notes PR for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review!

The Ice Match was an hilarious enemies to lovers’…. although the protagonists actually stayed enemies both during and after committing the dirty deed…... romance. Nicholas Crew and Dakota Darling aka Crew and Kota had been at daggers drawn since they'd met and when a screwup over their leases meant they had to share an apartment, the battle lines were drawn, and they instigated a prank war to the frustration of their fellow roommates and best friends Lane and Bridget.

I loved the first book in the Roommates duet but if anything, I loved this one even more. Crew and Kota’s trouble was that they were exactly alike, both liked to win and have the last word. Crew was a player but in her own way so was the fiery Kota, who really didn't have a high opinion of men after being raised by a single mom. Their antics and banter were hilarious especially how terrified Crew was of her. He had a healthy fear of what she could do to him and I’m sure he slept with one eye open not that it stopped him from pranking her every chance he got. It was obvious from the start they’d either kill or jump the other. Fortunately, their sizzling chemistry won out, so it was the latter. Running concurrently with the first book, their story was fast paced and well written with a fantastic flow, and a generally light-hearted air although all the main characters had some form of parental issues, so they formed their own family unit. I enjoyed seeing certain events from a new perspective especially those involving Crew and Kota’s sneaking around hiding the benefits of their ceasefire from Lane and Bridget. The secondary characters were all engaging especially the other members of the hockey team and I’m hopeful we haven’t heard the last of the Stallions especially Matt, we need to know what happens between him and Eleanor.

"The Ice Match" by Trinity Lemm offers an original & refreshing take on the forced cohabitation trope, setting the stage for an engaging story - even though I wouldn't call the setup entirely believable. However, it serves its purpose well, creating an environment for the dynamics to unfold.

Both Kota & Crew are wonderfully developed protagonists. Their personalities feel familiar & relatable, making it easy to connect with them from the very beginning - kind of like greeting an old friend I lost contact with. The gradual evolution of their dynamic keeps the story engaging, although initially, the pacing may feel somewhat slow. However, it is totally worth the wait, as emotions are getting more & more intense. It causes their chemistry to ignite, delivering some killer satisfying & heartfelt moments.

The book also surprised me with some serious twists & two moments in particular stood out to me. The first one was Crew confessing his love for Kota. This was such a big deal for him, seeing as he wasn't ever planning on committing - a moment that had a significant effect on his character & their dynamic.
The second one was the dinner scene with Crew’s parents made me wince several times over. Honestly, it still baffles me how selfish & egotistical these parents are, thinking only about themselves. It highlights a world-wide issue & the emotional toll it can take on a child.

The themes of hate, love & lust are balanced & very well taken care of. The author knows exactly how to portray the complexities of relationships (both friends & family), combining emotional intimacy with humour & camaraderie, particularly through the hockey team characters (Tyler, you're hilariously & YOU are the real star of the show!)

This book is a must-read for fans of romance, especially those who enjoy the sports romance trope. It seems to be getting very popular & thanks to stories like this one, I can certainly understand why!

5 stars!

If you have been following me you know I love sports romances and especially Ice hockey ones! I don't know what it is about these huge, muscular, sweaty men, but it's great haha

In The Ice Match the second book of The Roommates Duet by Trinity we are following Kota and Crew. They are like water & fire, so this is a totally opposites attract!

Crew and his best friend Lane, and Kota and her best friend Bridget are both leasing 2 room appartements in a new building. However the leasing company made a mistake and there was only a 4 bedroom available and they put all of them together in 1 appartement. However a couple of nights before Lane spilled his drink on Bridget in the bar and Kota and Crew had their first run into each other and that's were the bickering started.

So they both can't believe faith put them together in 1 apartement. They can't get out of their lease so they are forced to live together and set some ground rules like no dating between the roommates.

Well as you can guess this rule is meant to be broken. At first there is a prank war between Kota and Crew, however their is a fine line between hate and love. One drunken night Kota decides to take a leap and Crew can't resist. Will this grow into more?

✨Review The Ice Match by Trinity Lemman✨

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶️🌶️.5

The Ice Match is a fiery, fast-paced enemies-to-lovers romance that delivers all the sizzle and humor you could ask for. The second book in The Roommates Duet, it centers on the explosive chemistry between Nicholas "Crew" and Dakota
"Kota" Darling. The two have been at odds since their first meeting, and when a lease mix-up forces them to become roommates, the tension only escalates. Pranks, banter, and sharp insults fly between them, making their forced proximity both hilarious and tense.

What starts as a rivalry fueled by their differences-Crew's cocky, player persona and Kota's distrust of men-quickly shifts into an intoxicating game of push-and-pull. Their chemistry is undeniable, and the slow burn that builds between them is deliciously satisfying. The emotional depth of their individual struggles adds layers to their connection, and watching them grow as a couple is a highlight of the book. Crew's gradual transformation from a cocky prankster to a man deeply in love with Kota is heart-melting.

The Ice Match is a perfect mix of humor, heat, and heart, with a satisfying, steamy conclusion that leaves you eager for more. Fans of enemies-to-lovers and hockey romance won't want to miss this one.

- Hockey Romance
- Hockey Player x Bold FMC
- Enemies to Lovers
- Hate at First Sight
- Forced Proximity
- Roommates
- Enemies with Benefits
- Reformed Playboy
- Found Family
- No Third Act Breakup

The Ice Match was my first book by Trinity Lemm. This is the second book in The Roommates Duet, following Dakota 'Kota' Darling and Nicholas Crew. After a leasing mix-up, Dakota, Nicholas, Bridget, and Lane end up living in the same apartment. The 'enemies' in enemies to lovers is strong with Kota and Crew. Kota can't stand men and wants nothing to do with Crew. Crew is everything Kota dislikes, and they clash at every turn! The banter and the pranks were hilarious and sometimes a bit over the top. The roommates implement a "no hookup" rule, but that doesn't stop Kota and Crew from testing the boundaries. The tension is thick, and eventually, Crew uses his playboy charm to win Kota over. Once Crew was all in, he was ALL IN. He definitely knew how to heat things up, and I loved it. The Ice Match is a chunker (almost 500 pages), but it is a fun read with lots of swoony and laugh-out-loud moments.

Thanks to Trinity Lemm for the gifted eARC. Opinions expressed are my own.

Dakota (Kota) and Crew have a fiery first encounter at a bar when Lane (Crew’s best friend) accidentally pours a drink on Bridget (Dakota’s best friend). Unfortunately, the “enemies” are forced to become roommates due to their lease agreement.

I loved how close Kota and her mom was. Crew and Lane also have a tight-knit brotherhood and I totally envy how close they are. The found family vibes between them were strong at the start but the ending was just pure magic.

I wished that the book had given less air time to the pranks which Crew and Kota played on each other. It was pretty immature for college students and the book could have been faster paced if not for those earlier pranks.

The push and pull between Crew and Kota was blazing hot and both of them had different issues to work through before they could make any relationship work. They both took some time to get there but it was worth it in the end.

I haven’t read the Roommates duet first book but I will as soon as possible!! The Ice Match is such a good read! I’ve giggled and laughed so loud reading it.
The enemies to lovers, the pranks and the characters
development were well written.
Kota is an independent and bold character.
Crew is an hockey player, a playboy and has a big ego.
After a mishap with their apartment leases Kota, Crew and their best friends are forced to live together.

Living together won’t be easy especially since Kota hates Crew as much as he hates her.
Prank after prank, when one of them crossed the line everything changed.
It’s so bad having feelings for your enemy? Answering that question won’t be easy for them.

You need to read this book if you love:

Arc review the ice match by trinity lemm 🫶🏻📚

I love the first book and I was so happy as soon as I seen an another book was coming out between crew and Dakota (kota). I just had to sign up for the arc I haven’t ever received an arc before and I’m so incredibly grateful for you for sending it to me.

I love the spicy scenes & the character development between the two of them from hating each other too loving each other & the tension buildup.

I also that liked Bridget and Lane were also in the book. Just added an extra goodie 🙊 They were in the book 1 as well… and the side characters including TJ, Matt with Eleanor, Cody and Jett + hockey 🥅 🏒 what more could I ask for 😉TJ reminds me of jay from the inbetweeners aha.

Book: 4⭐️/3❤️‍🔥

This is part of the Roommates Duet and it technically number 2, but the stories take place simultaneously so I don’t think they need to be read in order. This was a fiery enemies to roommates to lovers hockey romance. This is the type of enemies to lovers with pranks and banter and they definitely both bring it when it comes to the hijinks! Of course the attraction eventually becomes more than either can resist. I loved the platonic relationship between Crew and his best friend and teammate Lane. I also enjoyed getting to see Dakota (Kota’s) walls come down, as she finally starts to see that not all men are bad. All in a really good enemies to lovers with some great hockey fun mixed in!

The Ice Match is a sports romance centered on Dakota Darling and Nicholas Crew. Dakota, who has a deep mistrust of men, finds Nicholas to be the embodiment of everything she despises—arrogant, womanizing, and selfish. Nicholas, in turn, sees Dakota as infuriatingly bold and bratty. Their fiery dynamic takes an intriguing turn when they’re forced into a shared living arrangement alongside their best friends.

The story is packed with witty banter, playful pranks, and laugh-out-loud moments, making it an entertaining read. However, the pacing felt stretched at times, which might detract from the overall experience. Despite this, the book delivers plenty of humor and engaging interactions, making it a fun addition to the sports romance genre.

Uhhhh, I really enjoyed this one! Even though this is the second installment of the series I still was able to understand the story while being pulled into this new world. 🥰
The banter between the main characters was just top tier. And when they finally decided to give in to their own desire they really became such a wholesome couple!!!!
Despite disliking long romantic comedies I still really liked this longer book! Of course, you could always say that it could be a tad shorter. But I believe that this length was exactly what this story needed in order to fully be appreciated.
Thanks for the arc!

ARC Review: The Ice Match

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

I went into The Ice Match without having read the first book in the series, but I was immediately drawn into the story. There’s so much to love about this book—from the hilarious pranks to the witty banter that kept me smiling. However, what truly stood out to me was how Crew and Kota’s relationship developed so beautifully throughout the story. Watching their connection grow from playful teasing to something deeper was both heartwarming and rewarding.

I’ll admit, the length of the book caught me by surprise, but it gave the characters plenty of room to evolve and made their journey feel so much more authentic.

This book is a close call between a 3,75 or 4/5 since I liked Lane & Bridget’s book a bit more.

This book is a great book for all the people who love a good hockey romance (me included). After reading The Puck Arrangement, I loved reading the other side of the story in which Kota & Crew became a thing. Although the pranks weren’t always that believable and their reactions on eachothers pranks were a bit over the top sometimes, I had a great time reading it. Just like The Puck Arrangement, I like the second half of the book way more. I loved seeing Crew commit to something I think even he wasn’t sure he could commit to! I’m a bit sad this duet is over but I loved reading two sides of the same story about 2 very different but absolutely amazing couples ♡

I would defenitely recommend this one to people who love enemies/rivals to lovers, hockey romance, heavy but funny prank wars, found family and a great character development!!

The Ice Match by Trinity Lemm

490 pages

Book 2 of The Roommates Duet

I loved seeing the other side of the story in this book in comparison to Bridget and Lanes story, in The Puck Arrangement.
Crew certainly grew on me from book 1 and needless to say I'm glad we got a change to see his other side, and how he interacts with Kota,

This book follows the other 2 roommates Kota and Crew, it has the same timeline as book one and follows Kota and Crew's relationship from the messy pranks up to their undeniable attraction to one an other,

I read book one immediately before this and I think that helped with the timeline whiplash, but I was hooked and did not want to put it down, unfortunately I did have to do some adulting.

I would highly recommend you give this duet a read and I hope you fall in love with both couples as I have, For Fans of Hockey Romances, Forced Proximity, Enemies to Lovers, Roommates, Dual POV, and some Spicy Goodness.

ARC Review:

Reading the blurb for this book, I thought this book would totally be up my alley, but it fell a little short for me. I feel like it could have been a really good enemies to lovers, forced proximity book. But instead it just felt a bit too long and drawn out. During the first maybe 50%, I was considering DNF at a couple of stages as I just wasn't feeling that connected to the characters. Although the pranks were added for, I guess, a fun element, even they seemed too drawn out. More focus could have been added on the character developements and that behind the scenes pining. There were some moments in the book that would have been so much better in the other persons POV too.

All in all, I thought the book was okay. Once these two started getting along and spending more time together, I did enjoy some of their moments. But there never really was anything that sucked me in to make me love it. For this one, sadly I'm going to have to give a 3 ⭐️.

Thank you to Love Notes PR for sending me this book to read and review.
