4⭐️ | 2🌶 a good suspenseful read. I loved Ava & Hutch together. They were so great together. Their bond and fearlessness when it comes to each other and those they love was so strong. I loved the small town, best friend aspect. I will say I was not expecting that plot twist. I will definitely be reading the next one. thank you to grey's promotions for the arc. ☄️🏹
I recently discovered this author, but she is quickly becoming a top favorite of mine. I have read this series and others in the last few months. I now understand how a story can consume your thoughts, and stick with you as you anxiously wait for the next one.
Ava and Hutch had me from the first chapter; the mystery had my attention and made this book almost a one-day read. Having been best friends for a long time, only to have and night that brings regret. Ava and Hutch need to bring themselves to communicate, they need to address their feelings, the comfort, and emotions their friendship brings. They both seem to think distance is the answer. There are some bad things happening in their small town, and Hutch, on leave from the Air Force, has been privy to most of it.
I love how this story wraps up, and I am excited about what we learn about the future.
Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
Once again Dakota Davies finds the perfect balance between romance and suspense! THIS WOMAN! As I get deeper and deeper into this series, I become more attached to Dakota’s writing. I am dangerously close to investing a whole lot of money on her backlist like yesterday! I really like how she blends the romance journey with the suspense journey without either missing a beat. It’s expertly done, and it makes me happy!
I normally don’t do this, but I need to tell you some of the gist of this story for you to understand my favorite part of this entire experience. So, the very superficial gist is Ava and Hutch have been friends for forever and a day. They have spark but never thought about crossing the line. Until they did. But a one night stayed a one night because Ava had school and Hutch had the military. Fast forward to today and Ava now has her own practice in their hometown of Finn River and Hutch is back home to care for his sick mother. Aaaaaand the story goes from there (this is where I stop giving you the plot lol) …
The combination of “friends for forever and a day” plus their “one night” is the perfect set-up for a “second chance trope” but it’s also a good set-up for a “friends to more trope” and you guys wanna know what two of my top tropes are to read/listen to are? Yeah … I was one happy listener! THEN, you add the fact that Dakota blended a suspense plot-point that not only made sense, but was also all kinds of realistic and I mean … how does one not love this woman’s writing?! Very few times do I find myself vested at the conclusion/revelation of a suspenseful plot-point, but Dakota reaaaally vested me this time. I am more than a little awed at the ”who done it” situation. Well played, Dakota, well played!
It should go without saying, because I’ve said it with the last two stories this duo narrated in this series, but Robert Hatchet & Laura Horowitz are a great pair to listen to! They work well with and off each other every single time. Well done!
Ever since I finished the last book in this series, I have been waiting for Ava and Hutch’s story. “Love Me Fearless” is a romantic, action packed and heartfelt friends to lovers romantic suspense that was a great addition to the series.
Ava and Hutch have been friends for most of their lives and have never crossed the line into more until one night after a friend’s wedding. Ava was going to school to be a doctor and Hutch had his commitments to the military. Fast forward, Ava is back home with her own practice in Finn River and Hutch is visiting home to care for his sick mother. The two still have unresolved feelings from that night and they’re not sure how to be around each other. But when Ava starts getting threatening notes, Hutch vows to protect her and figure out who is harassing her. And as they spend time together, the feelings they have for each other starts to surface.
I loved Ava and Hutch from the beginning. I could tell they had a connection and chemistry from the start and it only grew as the story went on. Even if they had those six years apart, they needed that to pursue their careers and grow as people. I loved Ava’s passion for medicine and wanting to have her own practice in her Finn River. Hutch is just as passionate with his military career and wanting to protect people. I loved that when he was home, he helped with the search and rescue team. I loved the small town setting and the added suspense of a girl being kidnapped and then someone terrorizing Ava had me listening nonstop. The plot had some great twists and I was shocked at who was behind it all. The ending for their story was perfect and made my heart so happy.
Robert Hatchet and Laura Horowtiz narrated as Hutch and Ava and they were fantastic. Robert’s narration was protective and genuine, just like Hutch. I loved Laura as Ava. Her performance was passionate and vulnerable. These two were great and I’m looking forward to listening to more books narrated by them.
This is my first book of Dakota's but third in this interconnected standalone's , and this story focuses on Ryan "Hutch" and Ava. I love that you dont feel like you are missing out when you read this book. There have been many books that I have read that are tagged as "interconnected standalone's" and then you go to read them and you feel like everything is missing and you were just dropped into the middle of some story. That is not the case with Love Me Fearless and I loved it!
Hutch & Ava have been best friends forever but never took the chance until one night at their friend's wedding, and it ended in disaster. I would like to say that I would love to smack Ava at the moment where she peels wheels and leaves Hutch and then we dont reconnect for SIX YEARS!!! Normally I hate the miscommunication trope, but this was well done and obviously sets the scene for the story.
I appreciate that there is an overarching mystery theme in the story that is woven into the rekindling that Hitch & Ava are doing. It brings more depth, and I like the supporting characters that come in and out of the story that support the mystery. I really did not think that the stalker was who it turned out to be, normally I can guess but I think because there were very little clues given to us, it made it harder to piece together.
Without giving anything away, im super happy with how things wrapped with Hutch & Ava, and based off the Epilogue I feel like we will see more of them in the next story as the mystery continues. Looking forward to reading Dakota's backlog, while I wait for the 4th book to come out!
Ryan "Hutch" Hutchins and Dr. Ava Greely have been dancing around each other for YEARS. When they first crossed from friends to lovers, I knew what was coming, but it still threw me for a loop.
We fast forward and get to see them rekindle those feelings, good and bad. Even when they're being incredibly stubborn, I loved them and their story. I've enjoyed every story in this series, but this might be my favorite.
I’m just Ava, same flavor every day of the week. No way will I possibly be enough for him. -- Dr. Ava Greely
There's a stalker and serial killer on the loose that does lead to more questions than answers. With someone close to Hutch being in the crosshairs, it amps up the tension. It's well-written and very realistic. Not all endings are happy ones, but Ava and Hutch get theirs.
Prior reading isn't necessary, but I personally recommend it if you can. There is a small crossover from Penny Creek (Falling Hard series) that I can't wait to see play out.
I enjoyed this friends to lover's romance narrated wonderfully by Laura Horowitz and Robert Hatchet. This was the first time I listened to Laura narrate a book, but I really enjoyed her performance. Robert is becoming a favorite of mine and I am definitely listening to him a bit more.
Ava and Hutch have been friends for a long time. One night they take things further and while Hutch would love to explore more with Ava, she pretty much cuts ties with him. She knows that he has the ability to break her heart, and she just can't put herself through that. This doesn't stop Hutch from looking out for her while he is deployed. Which at times grates on Ava's nerves. But in the end, she knows he means well.
Now a few years have passed, and Hutch is called home due to a family emergency. Once he crosses paths with Ava again, he can't seem to stay away. But he also doesn't have plans to leave his military life at the moment either. But when suspicious things start happening in Finn River, Hutch knows he just can't leave yet. Especially when someone targets Ava, Hutch is determined to save her.
I loved the suspense aspect that was included in the story. Really kept me thinking and guessing. This is the first book I have read by Dakota, but I am definitely planning on checking out the other books in this series.
Love Me Fearless is a heart-pounding small-town romantic suspense packed with heat and tension. The chemistry between the characters is electric, and the twists kept me hooked from start to finish. Robert Hatchet and Laura Horowitz deliver incredible performances that truly bring the story to life. Their emotional range and delivery perfectly capture the intensity and vulnerability of the characters. If you’re a fan of romantic suspense with lots of steam, this is a must-listen!
This is the third book in this phenomenal series, and this is Hutch and Ava’s story. Hutch and Ava were best friends who followed different paths in life. Hutch is a broken military hero, who returns home for a family emergency, and Ava is a doctor, and when they cross paths the sparks fly. While Hutch is home there is a murder in town, and Ava becomes the target of a stalker. Is the murderer and the stalker the same person? This is a well written action packed story, with found family, friendships, emotions, drama, angst, mystery, danger, suspense, intrigue, shenanigans, second chances, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, and heartwarming, small town romance. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
3.75 ⭐ Spice 🌶🌶 It was a good book & I absolutely loved Ryan's (Hutch) character 🥰🥵, but Ava's character annoyed me at times, but she redeemed herself towards the end. I wish the suspense part would have been more involved in the story and when the "suspense " actually happened. I wish it would have lasted longer than one chapter, but that's just me and what I want from a romantic suspense book.
Love Me Fearless follows longtime best friends Ava and Hutch — though calling them “just friends” barely scratches the surface. This isn’t your typical best‑friends‑to‑lovers arc; it’s more of a right person, wrong time… for years situation. They’ve always hovered on the edge of something deeper, never quite crossing the line until one unforgettable night.
Years later, Ava is back in Finn River as a doctor, and suddenly Hutch is back on leave. The tension between them is immediate, heavy with history, longing, and all the things they never said. Dakota Davies captures that slow‑burn ache so well — you can feel every missed moment and every bit of love they’ve been too scared to claim.
And as someone who loves a good suspense thread woven into romance, this one really worked for me. There’s a mystery element tied to Hutch that adds urgency and depth without overshadowing the relationship. Watching him step into protector mode — helping with search and rescue, doing everything he can to keep Ava safe — gave the story an emotional edge I really enjoyed.
The banter is fun, the chemistry is undeniable, and yes, these two absolutely get in their own way. Avoidance is not their friend, and I found myself wanting to lock them in a room until they finally talked. But that messiness makes their journey feel real and earned.
🎧 Audiobook Review — Narrated by Robert Hatchet & Laura Horowitz
I received an ALC of the upcoming three‑book audiobook bundle releasing this month, and I’m so grateful to the author for the opportunity to listen early. Robert Hatchet and Laura Horowitz were a fantastic pairing for Love Me Fearless. Their performances brought out the emotional tension and history between Ava and Hutch in a way that made the story hit even harder.
Hatchet gives Hutch that steady, protective warmth that fits him perfectly, especially in the more suspense‑driven moments. Horowitz captures Ava’s strength, vulnerability, and quiet determination with a tone that feels authentic and grounded. Together, they balance the romance, the longing, and the danger beautifully. Their chemistry as narrators really enhances the friends‑to‑lovers arc and makes the suspense elements even more immersive.
A strong, engaging listen — and a great start to the bundle.
Overall, it’s a heartfelt, tension‑filled friends‑to‑lovers romance with just the right touch of mystery and danger. A solid, satisfying four‑star read.
This one might be my favorite one yet! Hutch & Ava!!! I loved their story! I loved the suspense and mystery some parts of this book touched on and I cannot wait to read the next one!
Ava and Hutch have been best friends forever, until a kiss - and more - changes things. Six years pass, and Hutch comes back to Finn River, and feelings and memories are reignited. This is a wonderful romance with two characters trying to protect their hearts while wanting to pursue their love for one another. Danger, from an unknown perpetrator, arises, and tension permeates an otherwise idyllic setting. Ava is admirable; intelligent, industrious and independent. Hutch is a born protector - it is his job, too. Both want to keep their career, (she is a doctor, he is military, a specialist) yet it would mean them being apart. Because this is Dakota Davis, there is a high heat level, plenty of outdoors action and a brilliant storyline. Well-drawn characters, and Finn River is an attractive destination, a small town peopled with a range of terrific personalities.
Love Me Fearless Love Me Dangerous, Book 3 By: Dakota Davies Narrated by: Robert Hatchet, Laura Horowitz
Dakota Davies pens another fantastic novel set in her “Love Me Dangerous” series, a small town romantic suspense that not only grabs your attention and holds it hostage the entire time, but it tugs at your heartstrings too. Each book of this series stands on their own featuring a different couple, though characters crossover into each other’s books and knowing their back story adds some depth and seeing them again is like seeing an old friend. This third book of the series is Ava Greely’s and Ryan Hutchins’ story, and what a story it is, one that has you rooting for them right from the start. The two have been friends for years, but somewhere along the line, their feelings for one another morphed into something more. Ava did not want to cross the line because she was afraid it would ruin their friendship, plus she knew he was leaving to go on his next mission and would not be staying in Finn River. Except one night they crossed that line, and as expected, things got awkward between them after. Six years later, he comes home because his family needs him, and he wants to make it right with Eva. Eva finished med school and took over the town’s doctor’s practice, and while she hasn’t gotten involved with anyone romantically, she is ready to give dating a try. An incident in college left her shaken, and she still has nightmares about it. Hutch was over protective then, and with shady things going on in Finn River while he was back home, he goes into protective mode again, which is in his nature. Then it seems like her past is coming back to haunt her, and they are not sure there is a connection with the ongoing investigation of another crime that occurred in Finn River. Zach is investigating, but Hutch calls in a friend from the bureau to help, too. There is never a dull moment in this book, and I loved all the layers of the story and how it all played out, with the perfect balance of drama, angst, crime mystery, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and a wonderful romance. Dakota Davies, did a great job with the mystery portion, dropping hints along the way to keep you guessing and keeping you on your toes. Thank you for another fantastic story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 Robert Hatchet and Laura Horowitz were the perfect cast to bring these characters to life, and did so with a complete understanding of who they were portraying. I loved how they took each role and made it their own, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters to sound. Hatchet was a natural in Hutches’ role, grasping every aspect of his personality, and Horowitz did the same for Ava’s role and was just as fabulous. Both were fantastic performing the roles of the secondary characters, too. . They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These two are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to.
Love me fearless was an intense emotional roller coaster of a ride and I was all in for every minute of it.
Hutch and Ava are best friends who have both secretly harbored attraction and feelings for one another for a long time. Neither one acted on those feelings because their lives and plans for the future are vastly different. Ava has always wanted to pursue a medical degree and become a doctor and eventually move back to her small hometown of Finn River eventually getting married and raising children there. Hutch joined the Air Force and loves what he does and the places it takes him. But when they both end up back in Finn River for mutual friends wedding they end up giving into the temptation of one another. Ava in the light of morning with a devastated heart realizing what they shared couldn’t become more with the paths they were both on ran leaving a broken hearted Hutch behind. Several years later Hutch had to return to Finn river temporarily to care for his sick mother until she recovers. Being back in each other’s orbit rekindles their friendship and the desire for more they can’t seem to fight. But when faced with a threat to Ava’s safety Hutch has is faced with one question can he give it all up for her…
Wow Dakota Davies sure knows how to write a story and characters. What I loved most about Ava and Hutch was the relatable vulnerable layers. They faced real challenges with how to fit their relationship into the future they had both seen and the careers they had built individually. Ava especially because as much as she wanted Hutch and as strong as her feelings were for him she couldn’t see a future for herself sitting waiting on an Air Force base alone for months on end while Hutch was on assignments, and she couldn’t imagine that he’d be happy without that career he had dedicated himself to. They were both strong, intelligent and independent people but they were not fearless. I also enjoyed the mystery and suspense of the story . At a certain point in the book it become a whisper of danger, like I was waiting for something to happen with the teases of suspense. It was brilliantly written, nothing was in your face or over the top but the subtle hints of something looming was really impactful.
Speaking of impactful Laura Horowitz and Robert Hatchet for the win! I have enjoyed this duo in this series so much! They bring a unique vibe to each of the characters that gives that subtle distinction. They are also wonderful with the emotional aspects of a story that makes a listener feel for the characters and circumstances. They truly are a joy to listen too and I’m thrilled with how they brought these characters to life.
I’d recommend this book To any romance lovers looking for chemistry, steam, a touch of sadness, mystery and suspense all wrapped in a bow of flawless writing and fantastic narration.
From USA Today bestselling author Dakota Davies comes "Love Me Fearless," an all-new small-town romantic suspense about a broken military hero and the soft-hearted girl he’ll burn the world down to save. Ever since finishing the last book in this series, I have wanted to read Ava and Hutch’s story, and it did not disappoint. “Love Me Fearless” is a romantic, action-packed, and heartfelt friends-to-lovers suspense that serves as a great addition to the Love Me Dangerous series.
Ava and Hutch have been friends for most of their lives, never crossing the line until one night after a friend’s wedding. With Ava focused on medical school and Hutch committed to the military, the timing was never right. Fast forward six years: Ava is back home with her own pediatric practice in Finn River, and Hutch has returned to care for his sick mother. The unresolved feelings from that one night still simmer between them, creating an undeniable tension. But when Ava starts receiving threatening notes, Hutch’s protective instincts take over, and he vows to find her tormentor. As they work together, the powerful feelings they’ve suppressed for years finally surface.
I was captivated by Ava and Hutch from the very beginning. Their connection and chemistry were palpable and only intensified as the story progressed. The six years they spent apart were crucial for their individual growth, allowing them to pursue their careers. I admired Ava’s passion for medicine and her dream of opening a practice in her hometown, just as I respected Hutch's dedication to his military career and his local search and rescue work.
The small-town setting of Finn River was the perfect backdrop for the gripping suspense plot. The mystery of a local kidnapping, combined with the escalating threats against Ava, had me listening nonstop. Davies masterfully weaves in twists and turns, and the final reveal of who was behind it all was genuinely shocking. The ending to Ava and Hutch's story was absolutely perfect and left my heart so happy.
The audiobook narration by Robert Hatchet and Laura Horowitz was fantastic. As Hutch, Robert’s performance was protective and genuine, perfectly embodying the military hero's spirit. Laura Horowitz was brilliant as Ava, capturing her passionate and vulnerable nature with expert skill. They were a great pairing, and I’m already looking forward to listening to more books narrated by them.
Audiobook Review: Love me Fearless by: Dakota Davies Dual Narration by: Robert Hatchet and Laura Horowitz
I’m a new reader to Dakota and this book was such a great first read. It’s an inner connected standalone but I totally want to go read the others before the next book comes out. This is the story of best friends Ava and Hutch and it’s a romantic suspense one of my two favorite tropes to read- friends to lover/ it’s always been you and romantic suspense! And it’s a good one! The plot is rich and the world building she does is phenomenal that you feel a part of the small town.
Life long friends find the lines blur at their mutual friend’s wedding. Ava’s in med school and Hutch is in the Air Force and after their amazing night together Ava runs scared to be just another girl in his list of girls but Hutch finally admits he really wants more with her. But he doesn’t stop her and she bolts.
The story picks up like 6 years later and these two are back home in their small town together and their undeniable chemistry ignites and they both realize that there still is something between them. Things intensify between just as Ava starts to get threats and there is a murderer on the loose. They find themselves in close proximity and finally let what’s between them come out. I really loved the mystery and suspenseful moments of the story. There is the perfect balance of spice and it pushes the story forward while bringing these two closer and finally admitting how they feel. Totally didn’t see that ending coming and even though the story is resolved in a lot of ways she left a big strand that I cannot wait to see in the next book!
Now onto the audiobook review: Robert Hatchet and Laura Horowtiz brought these two to life and they were phenomenal! I love Laura and follow her on IG so I always love when I find a book she’s narrated because she’s just phenomenal! She brings such emotion, passion, and true vulnerability to her characters. Robert is a new narrator to me and I think he had the best voice for bringing Hutch to life. He definitely had the genuine protector touch her and die vibes. Highly recommend this book and enjoying it in audiobook form!
🫶🏻 Friends to Lovers 🫶🏻 Romantic Suspense 🫶🏻 It’s always been you 🫶🏻 Second chance Romance 🫶🏻 She’s a pediatrician 🫶🏻 He’s in the Air Force
I am thrilled to share my thoughts on yet another beautifully crafted novel set in the enchanting landscape of Finn River. This delightful small-town romance, based on the friends-to-lovers trope, truly captured my heart as I followed the captivating journey of Ava and Hutch. Their undeniable chemistry leaped off the pages, making every interaction a pleasure. I appreciated the deep bond of their friendship, which was wonderfully portrayed through their unwavering support at every twist and turn of the narrative.
The thrilling suspense intricately woven into the plot heightened my interest, keeping me on the edge of my seat and guessing until the very last moment. The heartwarming conclusion left me utterly enchanted, a testament to Dakota’s exceptional storytelling. As a devoted fan of romantic suspense, I found Ava and Hutch’s story rich with engaging layers that pulled me in from the first chapter and maintained my interest until the end. Their profound connection, evolving friendship, and unfolding mystery created a mesmerizing experience that I simply could not put down. The unique voices of each character breathed life into the story, making me feel like a cherished member of the close-knit community in Finn River.
From the beginning, I felt a strong connection to Ava and Hutch. Their undeniable bond was evident and beautifully intensified as the plot progressed. Even though they faced six crucial years apart to chase their dreams, this time apart allowed both characters to grow and evolve significantly. Ava’s unwavering commitment to her medical career and dream of starting a practice in Finn River was genuinely inspiring. Likewise, Hutch mirrored that dedication; his passion for military service led him to join the search and rescue team, showcasing his inherent protective instincts. The vivid small-town setting, combined with the looming threat of kidnapping against Ava, kept my attention glued and raised the stakes of their story. The plot presented a series of astonishing twists and turns, with the true identity of the antagonist completely catching me off guard, adding an exhilarating dimension to the narrative. The conclusion of Ava and Hutch’s journey was nothing short of perfect, filling my heart with pure joy.
Laura Horowitz and Robert Hatchet truly excelled in their dual narration roles. Laura delivered a stunning performance, gracefully capturing Ava’s strength and emotional struggles. Robert expertly embodied Hutch’s protective and genuine nature; their distinct voices infused life into each character, making me feel like a valued part of the close-knit community in Finn River. From the outset, I was drawn to Ava and Hutch. Their undeniable bond was palpable and beautifully intensified as the plot unfolded. Though they navigated six significant years apart while pursuing their dreams, this separation allowed both characters to grow and evolve meaningfully. Every moment of their collaboration was a delight. Their combined talents created an extraordinary listening experience, and I look forward to exploring more of their narrated works in the future!
Audiobook and Book Review Narrated by Robert Hatchet and Laura Horowitz. These two are becoming some of my favourite Narrators. I love the grittyness in Roberts voice and he gives Hutch that edge. Laura was sweet and emotional just like Ava's character. Book 3 in the series and I knew this one would be good. Ava and Hutch are best friends. Both love each other but don't want to lose the friendship. But one night at the wedding of their friends they both give in. Ava runs away next day telling him to forget that night. We then meet them 6 years later. I will admit, I was a bit annoyed with Ava, for how she handled it and didn't give him a chance to speak that night. Also how she ghosted him. But things make sense as we get answers at the end. So I may have forgiven her haha. Hutch is back to Finn Rivers due to family emergency and Ava has been back working at the hospital. Life keeps putting them together and their chemistry is still blazing hot. Both dance around each other for a while, so it's a bit of a slow burn. As always Dakota creates a wonderful picture of the small town and I love it, as it's easy to see and feel the charms of it. These two finally give in and will keep it casual (ahem). No use falling as he is leaving as soon as he can and she has her career. I loved that amongst their general life drama there is suspense. There is a serial ki11er loose and also her stalker may have followed her back from Uni. Is he the serial killer? With events unfolding, Hutch is struggling to leave her side and maybe her heart. As always the friendship group is fabulous and funny. Loved the whole family dynamics too. Psst I have a good guess as who the ki11er is... I will let you read and decide. This one was definitely a hot one 🥵. Very entertaining, suspense, secrets, deceptions, found family, friends, emotions, love and steam.
This is rapidly becoming one of my favorite series this past year. This is book three in the series of interconnected books but can be enjoyed as a standalone. This is Hutch and Ava’s story, and I was hooked from the beginning. Hutch and Ava have been friends since high school. When they are both home for mutual friends’ wedding, they give into the attraction they’ve ignored for years. Ava runs the next day to protect her heart based on Hutch’s history. They are reunited 6 years later. Hutch is home to help with the family business when him mom has health issues. Ava is living her dream and has taken over as the town’s pediatrician. They soon realize the attraction has not faded and they are downright combustible when together.
A local girl goes missing and there are hints that Ava may have a stalker. Are these two things related? The suspense and action had me riveted until the end. All while watching Hutch and Ava find their way to each other.
Laura Horowitz and Robert Hatchet are terrific in this series. Laura captured Ava’s stubbornness, heart, and vulnerability while she struggled between protecting her heart to avoid getting hurt again or taking a chance and giving in to Hutch. Robert proved why he is becoming a favorite narrator of mine. He gave the fierce protector vibes and all the emotion while Hutch was determined to fight for enough for both of them and find a way to honor his duty to serve.
I love this series and the world of Finn River, Idaho that Dakota Davies has created. There’s a wonderful sense of found family with the characters she’s given us. This had action, suspense, spice, heart and a well deserved second chance with the one you thought got away. I can’t wait for the rest of the series.
Love Me Fearless Love Me Dangerous, Book 3 By: Dakota Davies Narrated by: Robert Hatchet, Laura Horowitz
This book is exactly what I love about listening to Dakota Davies. It's romantic and full of suspense. Hutch and Ava grew as best friends. Never were they romantic except that one time at a friend's wedding, but Ava ran and the two followed their life paths. Now it's six years later, and Hutch is home to help with his mother. Her declining health has him worried, and with Ava as a doctor, her advice is paramount. But it's not just her advice Hutch wants. Ava is not on board, she knows if she gets involved with Hutch, he will be deployed and she will be left home alone. And now, strange things are happening around her home and bodies are being found in town. What happens next? Let me just say, no one writes romance and suspense like Davies. She had me from the start with this couple with their amazing chemistry and history. But the suspense thread had me set with a whodunnit, and every person was a suspect in my mind! I loved this and I could not stop listening until the end! It's a fabulous story, just like the first two in the series! Grab this on the 16th!
Robert Hatchet and Laura Horowitz continue bringing this series to life. I love them together. Their voices compliment each other and create a chemistry that is undeniable. Hatchet as Hutch is smooth and lovable, his voice like a hug. The alpha male comes through with incredible protectiveness. Horowitz is so good at bringing out all the facets of Ava's personality. As a doctor, she is compassionate and sensitive, and as a friend, she is steadfast and loyal. Then there is the guarded heart that burns with passion. These two are amazing and made an enjoyable listen.
This is my third book by Dakota, my first being Love Me Reckless, book 2 of this series. After reading that I went back and read book 1, Love Me Dangerous and while it’s not necessary to read these books in order the characters and some events are interconnected throughout. So when the opportunity came to get book 3 of the series I jumped at the chance because I needed Ava & Hutch’s story and Dakota didn’t disappoint me. This friends to lovers, second chance romance with a suspenseful twist was a great addition to this series.
The connection and chemistry between Ava & Hutch was undeniable right from the start. The first night they spent together at a friend’s wedding was hella hot, unfortunately the way that ended tore me up. They then spent 6 years apart but not even that could diminish their connection even though they didn’t stay in touch as closely as they did before they hooked up. Both of these characters were passionate about where they wanted to go in life and how they saw their future, it’s just those two futures didn’t align with each other. Now they’re both back in Finn River, their paths are crossing, and they can’t deny the pull they have for each other. Adding in the suspense really created another layer to this story that had me on my toes trying to figure out.
Laura Horowitz, who I’ve been following on Instagram for a while, did a fabulous job of narrating Ava. She really knows how to bring out the right emotions in her characters and always does a great job. Robert Hatchet, who I’ve now listened to several times this month did amazing alongside Laura. In fact he’s become a narrator that I look for when searching for new audiobooks.
The Love Me Dangerous box set of audiobooks includes books one to three by Dakota Davies. The series is set in the small town of Finn River.
Book one, Love Me Dangerous, follows the story of Zach and Sophie. Zach is a hero on the run who falls for Sophie, one of the local town girls. I really enjoyed their dynamic as a couple. Sophie has some interesting family complexities, and Zach’s situation as a man on the run adds depth to the story. Their tale is filled with twists, turns, and romantic suspense. I highly recommend it. The narrators, Robert Hatchett and Laura Horowitz, did a fantastic job.
Book two is Love Me Reckless, featuring Sawyer and Kiralee. Kiralee is the town princess whose family owns an exclusive ski resort. She is set to marry someone who, frankly, is a bit of a douchecanoe. She becomes a runaway bride. Sawyer, the male main character, is a mechanic—a blue-collar worker. They form a friendship that grows into something much deeper. Kiralee has a secret bucket list, and Sawyer helps her fulfill it. Their opposites-attract romance was probably my favorite of the three books.
Book three is Love Me Fearless, centered on Hutch and Ava. They are childhood best friends, fitting the friends-to-lovers trope. Hutch is a military hero, so he spends a lot of time away. Their friendship develops through writing letters, filled with mutual longing. Ava, a pediatrician, is unsettled by a stalker, which ultimately brings her and Hutch closer together. I really liked them as a couple.
Overall, the narrators did an excellent job across all three books, and I definitely recommend this box set.
I listened to the Audio. I really enjoyed the narrators telling this story. The tone of their voices was relaxing and I liked the voices they gave the characters.
This one I must say is my favorite so far. These two are really good friends and at a friends wedding they gave in to their attraction to each other. After some time Ava can't believe they did and Hutch doesn't know why she regrets it but they part ways. Hutch is serving our country and spends a majority of his time saving lives. While Ava was learning to be a pediatrician. Years later of not talking or seeing each other Hutch is back when his mom gets sick. Not only did I love listening to Ava and Hutch's story as they try to get over their awkwardness. But you also get Hutch trying to convince Ava they should go at it again. Ava is scared she is going to be heartbroken when he leaves and he always leave. So not only do you get to read/listen to the progress of their relationship but throw in a stalker and dead bodies and it just makes for an interesting story as I found myself trying to solve who could it be. Love how certain clues and then certain characters had me questioning my guesses. I listened to it in one sitting because I needed to know and throw in the little emotional part towards the end had me a little teary eyed. The only thing I can say is I can't wait for the next one I just wished it wasn't a couple months away.
I received a copy from Home Cooked Books and listened to it through BookFunnel.
I love romantic suspense, add in some friends to lovers angst and I am hooked! Ava and Hutch have been best friends forever. Even when their lives took them in different directions, they remained close by writing letters to each other while she was training to be a doctor and Hutch was in the military. When they both came home for a wedding, their innocent flirting turned passionate. But it wasn't their time, and they were both heartbroken as they returned to their lives. Now years later, Ava is the new town doctor and Hutch is home helping his mother with the farm as she recovers from an accident. It is tense at first, but Ava and Hutch slowly find their way back to each other. When women are disappearing, Hutch helps with the searches. When mysterious things start happening to Ava, Hutch is determined to keep her safe. But what happens when his leave is over, and he has to leave her behind? This is a heart pounding, fast paced ride of suspense, desire, determination & love! I loved the good mix of romance and suspense that had me on the edge of my seat, completely consumed by this story. I loved Ava's strength and resilience, and Hutch's alpha-protector, and dominance along with his swoony gentleness with those he cared for. Their relationship was complex and sizzling and I loved the way it played out. Robert Hatchet and Laura Horowitz's performances were phenomenal! Hatchet made my heart pound with every emotional, suspenseful, and passionate scene. Horowitz embodied Ava so beautifully, with the perfect balance of strength and vulnerability. I always love both voice actors and they really brought out all the heat, chemistry, and the whole spectrum of feels. I was completely consumed by this thrilling, passionate and addictive story!
Ava and Hutch are best friends. He’s a player, and she’s aware, so she resists getting involved with him because of the inevitable heartbreak. However, after two of their friends get married, they spend the night together. Unfortunately, the next morning Ava has regrets, because she knows the kind of person that Hutch is, and she figures she’ll be rejected—which is his pattern. So before that happens, she rejects him—which hurts him. Six years later, Ava is a practicing pediatrician in Finn River. Hutch’s career takes him all over the world, but because his mother is having heart issues, he has taken a leave from his job and is also back in Finn River. They keep running into each other. They finally end up talking about that night from six years earlier, and come to an understanding that allows them to regain a portion of their former ease with each other. Eventually, their friendship gets back on track.
At some point in the story, a young girls’ disappearance and murder impacts both of these protagonists. As they slowly make their way back to each other, someone is watching and is not happy about it. Strange things start happening to Ava. Eventually, they realize that there’s a connection and that Ava has a stalker.
This is a well-written story with excellent pacing and tension. The narrators do a fantastic job of bringing the story to life, and making listeners care about the characters in this story. The denouement is tense and incredible and believable. It feels like listeners are actually there watching it happen! Wow!
Ava and Hutch's story is an excellent and moving addition to this wonderful series. It's a story that although a standalone is connected to the other books in the Love Me Dangerous series as all of the characters feature in all the books. But don't worry if you have not read or listened to the earlier books because Dakota writes their story in such a way you will still be able to fully enjoy it. I do warn you though that once you start this series you will want to listen to all of them.
I'm not going to tell you anything about the storyline as that will spoil the surprise and your enjoyment - apart from saying that it's a friends-to-lovers story with a touch of mystery and suspense. The characters are wonderfully well-drawn and likeable. Hutch is one of my all-time favourite book boyfriends and he and Ava are just perfect together. The chemistry between them is undeniable, palpable and hot. Ava and Hutch need to communicate and address their feelings so that they can fully enjoy the love they both feel although Hutch's genuine care and love for her is clear for all to see, I wanted to give Ava a shake and tell her to stop prevaricating so many times! I adored seeing Hutch and Ava together even though they took forever to figure things out.
The narration is wonderful, Robert Hatchet and Laura Horowtiz are Hutch and Ava they excel at bringing every emotion to the fore, they are a great team that I’m looking forward to listening to again.
Love Me Fearless was an incredible story and I am so happy to have experienced it because I absolutely loved it and now have a new to me author that I look forward to enjoying more from.
This story was everything I look for in a romance - the perfect blend of love, tension, spice, suspense and all things small town. Hutch and Ava have been friends since high school and always had some feelings between them that were never spoken or acted on. After sharing a scorching kiss at a friend's wedding, Hutch heads back to duty leaving Ava heartbroken and wondering what if. Six years later he returns to their small town to look after his ailing mama and things heat up quickly between them. She's keeping him at a distance and only giving into the physical because she can't stand the thought of him breaking her heart again. He's torn between duty and love, not knowing what the way forward is.
With danger lurking and Ava in the crosshairs of a stalker, Hutch's loyalty is tested yet again, and he knows he has to protect her and keep her in his life one way or another. The dramatic twists and turns as the danger unfolds will have you guessing until the end.
Robert Hatchet and Laura Horowitz were amazing as Hutch and Ava. They made me feel so immersed in the story that I didn't want it to end. An absolute must listen for lovers of small town romantic suspense.
So, we finally get Hutch & Ava's (long awaited) story! I've been hooked into this series from book one, and I Knew these two would have a powerful story to tell.
This is a friends to lovers trope, with a rekindling of underlying feelings after some time has passed. Hutch and Ava were always good friends, but one night changed everything for them and they end up going their separate ways to focus on their careers. Fast forward 6 years later, and they're both back and their feelings for each other are too. Throw in some great page turning suspense / mystery with a baddie in the mix, and it was *chef's kiss*.
This audiobook had me locked in, I played it in the car while running errands, at home while cooking, etc. I was actually really cranky to people who interrupted me while I was listening lol.
I loved the chemistry between Hutch & Ava, and narrators Robert Hatchet & Laura Horowitz did a great job bringing that into their portrayal the characters. I love how RH manages to put just enough emotion into his reading without sounding over the top (which has ruined audiobooks for me with other male narrators in the past).
This book had a plot twist that had me literally dropping my jaw lol I love Dakota Davies writing style and how she can completely flip the script on you when you least expect it.
All around awesome listen and story! Thanks to Home Cooked Books and the author for an advanced listener copy.
My first experience reading a book by Dakota Davies was truly enjoyable. This novel is the third installment in a series of interconnected standalone stories. I never felt lost despite not having read the earlier titles. There’s something uniquely appealing about a gripping contemporary novel laced with suspense. The author has truly excelled in creating this story. I particularly appreciated the overarching mystery theme that intricately weaves into the rekindled relationship between the main characters, adding significant depth to the narrative. Although I usually excel at predicting twists, I was genuinely taken aback by the stalker's identity. While not all mysteries were resolved, the epilogue hints that the adventure will continue in the next book. I’m eagerly looking forward to the release of the fourth installment and plan to catch up on the first two books in the meantime.
This was my first opportunity to listen to both Robert Hatchet and Laura Horowitz, and they were absolutely ideal for their roles. I admired how each actor brought their unique touch to the performances, truly bringing the characters to life. They established the perfect tone for the story, effectively conveying the characters' emotions and allowing the audience to experience every moment.
