The Empress's New Lingerie and Other Erotic Fairy Tales: Bedtime Stories for Grown-Ups

Ever consider what the beast really wanted with his young Beauty? Find out in this collection of wittily reimagined fairy tales for a strictly adult audience.

In the title story, a haughty princess parades in front of her people and ends up showing off far more than her leadership skills. A modern-day Cinderella attends the palace ball in a pair of black patent-leather stiletto heels guaranteed to bring the foot-worshiping prince to his knees. The seven dwarves prove that what they lack in size they more than make up for in numbers; young Jackie learns more about pleasure from a beanstalk than she ever thought possible; and Goldie realizes that nothing is too hot when she sets about finding out which of three “bare” bachelors is neither too big nor too small, but just right.

Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Sleeping Beauty–the erotic potential of these classic fairy tales and more is finally and fully realized in Hillary Rollins’s entertaining and titillating collection of bedtime stories for grown-ups. If you ever have trouble falling asleep, or if you want to get your partner in the mood to call it a day, try snuggling under the covers with these beautifully written and erotically self-assured tales from the annals of childhood. Better yet, read them aloud. There are few pleasures greater than sharing a good story with someone you love.

This is from 16 years ago!! I would like to see her write this collection again, learn how her writing and her view of what is sexy has changed.

The idea for this book is really good but it was more silly than sexy, which doesn't mean it wasn't an enjoyable read. Some stories were decent (Snow White) and others were completely ridiculous (Jackie & The Beanstalk, which honestly made me laugh and was worth the effort of reading this book).

I was hoping for so much more than mediocre fairy tales with very little twists to them. I would have given it zero stars if I could.

I was decidedly unimpressed. The author seemed to be going for sexy AND kinky, and doing neither one very well. That is not to say that this isn't a good idea. It's just not a good execution of the idea. I don't recommend it at all.

Creatively insane wine mom lemons. This is NOT erotica, it's like barely smut, but most definitely lewd. If you enjoyed Star Wars fanfiction in 2010, you're gonna love this!

I'm a big fan of erotic fairy tales, which is why this book was so disappointing. I was able to read one story all the way through. I tried two more and couldn't finish them. I think that this woman must be writing for a very specific audience that shares all of her fetishes. I'm not a particularly prudish reader and I can enjoy a kinky blue beard retelling as much as the next person. But this author appears to be turned on by things that I find to be particularly repellent. For instance, she described what was happening in the Little Red Riding Hood story as rape. That's just not appealing to me. The writing also was not very sophisticated. I realize that erotic short stories based on fairy tales generally don't amount to great literature, but combined with the bizarre nature of the sex, there just was no reason to read any more of this book.

In "The Empress’s New Lingerie" our favorite childhood fairy tales have taken a decidedly adult turn. From Little Red Riding Hood to Snow White, Rollins has given them all a naughty twist that's not really all that new or creative.

Admittedly, it is a slightly amusing book if you're after the novelty of it. But once the novelty wears off, you realize that this does not excuse the weak writing style of the author and more importantly, the plain crassness of the delivery of said stories.

Sort of silly collection of adult fairy tales - here we have some very short stories (all less than 10 pages long) with the classic ('Once upon a time...') formula but going off on a widely different tangent. In Cinderella, Prince Charming has a shoe fetish; Snow White does more than clean for the 7 dwarves; the Empress's New Lingerie (and the Empress is Victoria, so is her lingerie Victoria's Secret? - the author did not even play that angle up, her loss) is racy and her clothing invisible, leading to a sensual encounter; the Three Little Pigs are men who are taught a lesson. Well, you get the idea. This is not great literature, it's not even that great erotica, but it is amusing.

This is a book waiting to happen. If people can talk about how dark fairy tales are with all its plotting of revenge and murder why not talk about an orgy between a woman and seven men who lives in the woods, eh?

It's a pretty cute concept and could be very amusing in some parts. A longer version of this type of narrative may come off as dragging so the length is fine but a couple stories may be too short and under developed.

Moment of truth ... if no one had given this to me I probably would have passed on it and that's not such a bad thing.

(stealing a thought from k00kaburra - who I got the book from) The stories are pretty goofy, and yet -- they kind of make sense too. Cinderella's Prince Charming having a foot fetish? an enjoyable read.

low 2s

a silly, overwritten collection of fairy tales shoehorned to include a variety of kinks.

the author isn't skillful enough to keep this from feeling silly and overwrought. the humor falls flat, and what could be titillating comes off as bizarre and occasionally off-putting.

miss this.

Erotic re-telling of standard fairy tales - Beauty & Beast, Red Riding Hood; Emperor's New Clothes, etc. Nice premise but not fully developed.

OMG the stories were too short to get into any of the stories and I actually finished the book but wish I didn't!

I thought this would be a clever and naughty retelling of the classic tales... what I found was a collection of 2-minute crass and smutty thoughts that happen to share a few common elements.

These short stories are more creepy than erotic. Since when does everything have to be about fetishes to be considered sexy? And to add insult to boredom, this book is ridiculously short.
