It’s just a little crush. What could possibly go wrong?
I’ve had more than enough relationship drama to last a lifetime, so romance with Stevie Palmer, the gorgeous server I had a hot one-night stand with, isn’t in the cards. However, she would make the perfect fake girlfriend to help me win my custody battle.
When I offer her an obscene amount of money to play along, she agrees. I insist this arrangement is strictly business. No feelings. No complications.
Easy, right?
Except nothing about Stevie is easy. She’s unexpected softness, stubborn as hell, and impossible to ignore. I tell myself I can keep my hands off of her. That I can ignore the way she makes me feel. Then one kiss turns into another. One night into more. And suddenly, our perfect little arrangement is anything but simple or straightforward.
With so much at stake, can I turn our fake relationship into a real happily ever after?

This is the first book in the Sterling Family Crossover series - but does have characters from other books in the Sterling and Dare universe pop up. Despite this, this book stands completely alone as I’ve read the previous books and barely remember the hero and heroine popping up in them.
Stevie (girl) and Caleb have known each other for a year as Stevie is best friends with Caleb’s sister (Raven from Just One More Moment). And there’s a been a lot of flirting but neither have ever crossed that line into anything more. Both just have a little bit of a crush. Until the night of Raven’s surprise party - when both decide to give in to temptation. But an unexpected visitor turns their one night into a fake relationship that doesn’t feel very fake.
I immediately liked Stevie - just because of her name. I immediately pictured Stevie Nicks. Our Stevie was a stubborn and strong willed woman who was working hard to make her life all that it could be. With an ugly family dynamic in her past, and a sister escaping an abusive stalker ex, Stevie does not have time for a man. But she can’t resist the pull to sexy billionaire, Caleb. I liked Stevie’s honesty, her attitude and her self-sufficiency. But also her vulnerability.
But Caleb. Yum, yum, yum! Billionaire. Check. Delicious. Check. Dirty talker. Check. Check. Check. There definitely is something about a man in a suit that has just enough BDE without being too arrogant. He was dreamy. But also a little bit damaged. And once he gave in to his crush on Stevie, all bets were off. He was all in and I loved him for it.
Because Stevie and Caleb have been crushing on each other for a year - you’d think that the quick move to something more might mean a lack of emotion behind it. Not so. I felt the connection between our pair and boy were they steamy. It’s Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde so you expect no less. Add in to that Caleb’s dominance and dirty mouth and I’m a happy bunny. And so was Stevie.
I really enjoyed this story. It was a simple story of one-night stand turns into a fake relationship that neither of our couple treat as fake for even one single second. I loved how Stevie and Caleb balanced each other out and how they really became a perfect pairing. A quick, simple and sexy story that I can give no less than 5 stars to. Recommended.
This story follows Stevie, who has always had a crush on her best friend’s brother, Caleb. Recently divorced and fighting for custody of his son, Owen, Caleb never expected one night with the blonde beauty he’s known for years to change everything. When he convinces Stevie to be his fake girlfriend to strengthen his case, neither of them anticipates just how real it might start to feel for both of them.
I loved the chemistry between Caleb and Stevie from the very beginning. Caleb was caring, flirty, and treated Stevie perfectly. She had always felt drawn to him she’s strong, and I’m glad she never stooped to the ex’s level. I really enjoyed the story and honestly just wanted more time with this couple, as the audiobook felt like it went by too quickly. That said, the audiobook is brilliant, so I highly recommend picking it up in that format.
I’m looking forward to reading more from these authors in the future!

I really enjoyed this story. It's easy to read and flew by, I finished it in one sitting. I haven't read any of the other books in this series and I don't feel like a newcomer missing any information.
Stevie and Caleb were such an incredible couple. Caleb who was in real estate and is fairly wealthy hooks up with Stevie, who works at a local bar but is going to school for marketing. Stevie is friends with Raven who is Caleb's sister. They come for opposite sides of the track but share a mutual attraction. When a crazy ex forces their hand, in a moment of desperation they agree to fake date, until Caleb's custody hearing. Being a single dad romance, obviously there's a kid involved in the story line, but it's not at all what I would consider to be kid-forward? Is that a term?
Caleb has those German Shepherd vibes. Loyal, always paying attention but ready to rip apart anyone who threatens the people he loves. Stevie is your typical independent girl, from the wrong side of the tracks with a tragic past who struggles with imposter syndrome while dating someone as successful as Caleb. Caleb is pretty possessive and has a take charge attitude both in and out of the bedroom. Which made for some really great open-door scenes.
Overall, this book held my attention and kept me entertained. I adored the characters, and the plot line was easy to digest. I loved the dress shopping scene and nod to one of my favorite movies!
🚩There are some themes in this book that may be hard for some to digest. Such as domestic abuse, stalking and on-page assault. (a push, nothing sexual) As well as drug and alcohol addiction (not between the MC's).
Here are the tropes at play: 😍Fake relationship 😘Single dad ✨Billionaire 🩷Forced Proximity 🔥Dirty Talker 😻Explosive Chemistry 😂Flirtatious Banter 👀Pretty Woman Vibes
Just a Little Crush is Book 1 of the Sterling Family Crossover series. It's a steamy, opposites-attract, fake-dating, one night stand to more, single dad billionaire gets his sister's friend romance. OMG, I loved this book. Caleb is a hunky billionaire single dad with a spiteful ex. Stevie is a smart and sassy waitress and his sister, Raven's, friend. The two have always crushed on each other but finally have a hot one night stand. When he finds himself in a custody battle, he asks Stevie to be his fake girlfriend and offers to pay her, saying no strings or feelings....yeah, right... She agrees, but they both have real feelings, so ... they really had such hot chemistry, and the ending was so happy after a lot of drama. The banter was hysterical, and Caleb was such a sexy, dirty-talking dream boat. I loved it!! He is totally a new book boyfriend.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Okay, I’m officially hooked on this series! Just a Little Crush had everything I love—fake dating, spicy tension, and a swoony single dad who made my heart melt. Caleb is the total package: caring, protective, and clearly trying (and failing) to keep things “strictly business."” Yeah, good luck with that, buddy.
Stevie? Obsessed. She’s sweet, knows exactly what she wants, and doesn’t take Caleb’s nonsense. Their banter? Chef’s kiss. Their chemistry? Off the charts. One kiss turns into oops, all feelings real quick, and I was living for every second of it.
Short, steamy, and totally bingeable—bring on the next book because I am SO ready!
Just a Little Crush is the first book in the Sterling Family Crossover series, but it was my first book by this writing duo. This was a fast-paced single dad, billionaire romance with one of my favorite tropes, fake dating.
Caleb and Stevie have been flirting and crushing on each other for a while, but they have never crossed that line since she is his sister's friend. They finally give in and decide to spend one night together. The chemistry between them was off the charts and it was hot! They were interrupted in the morning by his horrible ex-wife when she brought his son home early. She was threatening to use this in their custody battle since he shouldn't have random hook-ups around their son for the morality cause, so he asks Stevie to be his fake girlfriend.
Stevie had a tragic history and came from an abusive home. She is trying to help her sister be safe from her abusive, stalker ex. I loved how strong Stevie was, although she did have a lot of insecurities and didn't feel like she fit into his rich world. It didn't help that she had to deal with his OTT psycho ex-wife who brought a lot of unnecessary drama.
🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧 This audiobook was narrated by Sean Masters and Andi Arndt. Sean really brought the BDE of Caleb and delivered amazing dirty talk. I could feel the chemistry and connection between the characters with their amazing performances.
Thank you to Must Love Audio for providing the ALC.
After reading Just One More Moment (Raven & Remy) I was crossing my toes that Stevie and Caleb would be getting their own story and hoping that they’d be each others’ HEA’s and my wish was granted!
I loved Stevie and Caleb. Stevie is determined, driven and sassy and while I did love her, her insecurities tended to frustrate me, I understood where she was coming from but…As for Caleb, he was all kinds of protective AF alpha male and a great dad. He did go a bit overboard with the alpha at times, but, for the most part, it came from a good place. As for their journey to their HEA, they were definitely thrust into a unique situation which only served to bring them closer. I loved their bantering, their chemistry was hawt, and I liked how they kept each other on their toes and in the end figured out just how good they were together.
This is one of those series that I love because of the family dynamic, even though I can barely keep track of who’s related to who and how. But I just love how those, at least those on good terms, always step up for the ones they love and give a little hard love when necessary. This one does have its triggers, but they are handled well and necessary to the storyline.

Stevie was getting her marketing degree, working in the bar that her best friend owned, and worked two days a week as an intern at a marketing firm. Stevie and her sister Valerie lived in a one bedroom apartment after Valerie’s ex boyfriend would not leave her alone. I did not like the part of New York they lived in. After a one night stand with Caleb, Caleb’s ex walked in on them in his apartment when she brought their six year old son Owen back home from her weekend. His ex was a real piece of work who thought she was better than most people, especially Stevie. Caleb and his ex had a morality clause in their divorce decree because of his ex wife. Since she was taking Caleb back to court to get full custody she reminded Caleb of the clause. Since Caleb was afraid she would try and use that in court against Caleb, Caleb asked Stevie to be his fake girlfriend until he went to court for the custody hearing. I felt so bad for Stevie as she had self confident issues since she grew up in a trailer park and Caleb was a billionaire. I loved that Caleb and all his friends always tried to build Stevie up because they didn’t care where she came from. I loved how Caleb treated Stevie and how Owen loved her. This is such a good love story. I strongly encourage to to read it.
This was a fun, fast little read for me! I think I finished it in like 2-3 days. It was so easy to read and get into. I loved the background of this and fake dating/billionnaire are some of my favorite tropes. I didn’t feel like Stevie’s past played too much of a role here, but it was still present which I enjoyed.
It was nice to see that Caleb’s son was just taken with her, especially with the way his awful mother was towards him. Caleb stopped at no expense to shoe Stevie just how much he cared for her and some parts just made me swoon.
Overall, this was a pretty spice-forward book that had details of he falls first and mutual lust. Thank you to The Author Agency for the advanced copy!
I received an advance review copy and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This is my own opinion and was not influenced by anyone.
A huge fan of Erika Wilde and Carly Phillips so I always jump when a new book is available. The romance is acquaintance to fake romance to lovers. Caleb is a good guy fighting with ex over custody of their son. He agrees to pay Stevie to be his fake "other." Of course, real feelings develop. Throw in some danger and you have Just A Little Crush. I love the characters, the world around them and the slow burn to steam. This is another well written book from the talented pair.
I liked the single dad angle and the way Stevie’s kindness extended naturally to Caleb’s daughter but the relationship itself felt rushed and overly transactional. The fake relationship setup leaned too heavily on convenience, with very little emotional buildup to make the transition from “arrangement” to real feelings feel earned. I also struggled with the depth of the characters - especially Caleb, whose conflicts were resolved too neatly and without much internal growth. The pacing was quick to the point of feeling shallow, and while the steam was solid, it often replaced the emotional development I was hoping for.
Just a Little Crush is the first book in the crossover Sterling series and features Caleb, Raven’s brother and Stevie, Raven’s best friend.
Since Caleb and Stevie met a year earlier they have been skirting around their attraction for the simple reason that Caleb is a single dad and still battling a custody dispute with his ex. While Owen, his son is with his mother, Caleb attends Raven’s surprise birthday party and throws caution to the wind and takes Stevie home with him for one night of “fun”😊
One night of “fun” turns into a fake relationship which feels real to both of them❣️Loved Caleb and Stevie and I eagerly await the next book in November. I received an advanced copy via Booksprout and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️🩹
A great fake dating and single dad story. It will completely suck you in from the start as it has you swooning. I loved the characters, the banter and their undeniable chemistry. It’s an entertaining read and a great start to this series.
Carly & Erika have done it again! I loved Stevie & Caleb! This was a great fake date story! I love how the series interconnect & we are still in the insane world these two have created!
Stevie has been on Caleb's mind for awhile now when he comes to her with a fake relationship proposal - he gets someone to help him with his custody battle, and she gets money. Sounds good, but neither took into account that they would develop very real feelings that go beyond their obvious attraction.
Stevie knows she doesn't belong in Caleb's billionaire world. She also knows this fake relationship was supposed to be just an arrangement that didn't involve feelings. She's gone and broken the rule about feelings, and her insecurities are getting the best of her. Will she push Caleb away even when it's pretty obvious he's broken the no feelings rule, too?
This is an excellent start to this new crossover series. Stevie is flirty and sassy on the inside but loaded with insecurities on the inside. Thank God she had a heart to heart that gave way to an epiphany, because I was starting to worry that she'd ever take her head out of the fog. And then there's Caleb, the man is pure bbf material. Not only is he the sweetest dad, he's a protective alpha with a heart of gold. Liam's up next, and I am very impatiently waiting to read about the woman who will bring him to his knees.

Stevie Palmer is waitressing at The Back Door and interning two days a week at Dare PR while finishing her marketing degree. She and her sister, Valerie, escaped from their hometown to New York City to try to do better than their parents. And now Val has left her abusive ex-boyfriend and has moved in with Stevie in her small place. The last thing Stevie needs is the crush she’s had for over a year now on her best friend Raven’s brother to become something. But a girl’s got to live a little, right? Especially with the blessing of her friend.
Real estate broker and investor Caleb Kane has been focusing on his son, Owen, since his divorce from his now ex-wife, Alyssa. Plus, there’s still a custody battle on the horizon. But his sister Raven’s best friend Stevie caught his attention a year ago and has now ramped up her flirting at Raven’s birthday party. What harm would it be if they spent one night together? Owen’s with his ex until the next afternoon.
They promised each other that this was going to be just one-night (and morning) to enjoy each and enjoy each other they did… all over his apartment. The chemistry between Stevie and Caleb is electric. Sparks are flying everywhere. That is before the ex-wife brought their son home hours before their normal hand-off time… to catch him with Stevie and tried to read him the riot act. Without thinking, Caleb tells Alyssa that Stevie is his serious girlfriend, and it doesn’t break the morality clause that he insisted be in their divorce decree.
Stevie hears this conversation from Caleb’s bedroom, where she retreated to get dressed when they were interrupted, and panics. She’s not looking for anything ‘serious’ right now, although she could be tempted to break that for Caleb and Owen. She’s gotten to know Owen over the last year that she’s worked at his uncle’s bar. Once the ex leaves, Caleb asks Stevie if she would pose as his ‘fake’ girlfriend for the next few months until the custody case is settled. He will even pay her for her time, because he will need her not to work at the bar to be able to spend more time with them to keep up appearances. As an added incentive, Caleb invites Stevie and Val to use his investment property unit in his building to keep them safe from Val’s ex.
As weeks go by, Stevie and Caleb settle into a routine. Stevie accompanies Caleb to business dinners and events. They spend time together with Owen. And during the weeks when Owen is with his mom, Stevie spends the nights in Caleb’s bed. Although this is a fake relationship, both Stevie and Caleb catch feelings for one another.
Now Stevie has put away enough money that she can find herself and Val a place in a nicer section of town. Not to mention Val’s ex confronted Stevie when she was leaving Dare PR when he couldn’t get to her sister. Stevie is hurt and just exhausted, so she asks for a little space from Caleb.
The next weekend, Caleb takes his family (his sisters, Cara and Raven, Raven’s husband, Remy, and of course, Stevie) away to celebrate Owen’s birthday in the Hamptons. It’s a fun, relaxing weekend until Owen’s mom shows up uninvited with her boyfriend. She tries to worm her way into the celebration, but she makes a scene when Owen clearly doesn’t want her there.
Will this be the final straw in the relationship between Stevie and Caleb? I’m not going to say anymore… you just need to read the story to find out. I love when Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde collaborate on a story for us readers. They open up a new world of characters for us to fall in love with. I can’t wait to see where this series goes from here.
I really enjoyed this one night stand-turned fake relationship-turned real feelings! The characters were fun and relatable, and I loved the pull they felt toward each other!
Stevie is a waitress, and a part time intern at a PR company, while she finishes her degree. Her older sister just got out of an abusive relationship, and her ex has been stalking her, so they are both staying in Stevie's tiny 1 bedroom apartment. They attend the surprise birthday party of Stevie's best friend, Raven, and so of course, Raven's brother Caleb is there too. Stevie and Caleb have been making eyes at each other for over a year, but nothing has ever come of it, until tonight...
Caleb is a single dad, fighting for custody of his son against his ex-wife. It appears she has no interest in even having Owen, she just wants to hurt Caleb. While Owen is having his week with his mom, Caleb goes to his sister's party, and it finally ends up being the night for him and Stevie to connect. She spends the night, and in the morning, his ex shows up early to drop off Owen, and catches them in a compromising position. They have a morality clause in their custody agreement, at his insistence, due to her prior philandering, and he's scared she can use this against him in court, so he insists Stevie is his serious girlfriend, and not just a one time thing.
Stevie isn't sure about getting involved in all this, but she loves Owen, and knows he's better off with his dad. She is also in dire need of funds to get her sister into a safer apartment building, and Caleb offers her a hefty sum to play his fake girlfriend. She agrees, but she's afraid her heart will be broken in the mix, if she ever lets herself forget this is all pretend.
Of course, Caleb pretty quickly has no intention of this being "fake", and he knows the walls around Stevie's heart require him to move slow, and not spook her. They have a push and pull that really works, and they have a lot of fun together, not to mention their insane connection in the bedroom. This was a hot one, and I loved how that helped to cement their relationship, in addition to their forced proximity.
There was a side plot with the sister's stalker ex that was of interest, and the shenanigans of Caleb's ex were so messy. But Stevie's sister's new romance with their co-worker was really sweet. Caleb and Stevie's connection kept me coming back in this one, and I enjoyed myself so much. I always love these two authors when they collaborate, and I hope there's more to come!
I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. This review is my personal opinion, voluntarily given. Reviewed by Megan from Romanced by the Book
Just a Little Crush is book 1 of the new Sterling Family Crossover series and it starts with a bang.
Stevie is Raven's best friend, and employee at The Back Door. Since Remy is throwing a huge birthday party for Raven, Stevie has been invited, with her sister, to attend.
Caleb is Raven's brother, so of course, he has been invited to her birthday party.
Stevie and Caleb have been friends for over a year. They have a friendly, flirtatious banter whenever they see each other, but they have never crossed the line. Caleb has been divorced for two years, but he has never had the desire to date anyone during that time.
Caleb is a single dad to Owen. He shares custody with his ex-wife, but is currently in a custody battle with her.
The night of the birthday party, Owen is with his mom, giving Caleb the freedom to attend the party. When he sees Stevie, his interest is piqued. He has always had a thing for her, but would not act on it. He watches her dance with her friends all night. When she needs a break from dancing, she finds a quieter spot, away from the music.
She is checking to make sure her sister made it home safely, when she notices Caleb standing not too far from her. They start talking and before they know it, the DJ is calling last song. Since it is a slow song, and Caleb has not danced all night, Stevie convinces him to dance with her.
One thing leads to another, and they end up at Caleb's.
A one night stand turns in to so much more when his vengeful ex-wife shows up hours before she is supposed to drop off their son. She is rude and condescending to Stevie and vindictive to Caleb.
Sadly, this will not be their last run in with Alyssa and none of them will end any better than this first one. At the final confrontation, things will come to light and demand that attention is given to the issues. There is no more tiptoeing around the subject that needs to be addressed.
I have mixed emotions about this story. The way Alyssa belittles and bullies Stevie is unacceptable. I realize she is jealous and insecure, but does she really need to resort to these tactics?
I feel bad for Alyssa's boyfriend. He has no idea what he has gotten himself in to, but at least he is a calming presence for her. She needs that. I hope he sticks around.
Finally, I feel like Alyssa forgets she has a son and that Owen is impressionable. He is scared at one point and it makes me wonder what she has done in his presence, either to him or someone else. He is just a kid and he can't even enjoy his childhood around her. That is not fair for him.
Caleb does everything in his power to make sure Owen is safe and loved. And Stevie just pitches right in. For them, everything is about Owen, as it should be.
JUST A LITTLE CRUSH is the first instalment in the contemporary, adult STERLING FAMILY CROSSOVER erotic, romance series set in the numerous interconnected Dare, Kingston and Sterling family worlds co-authored by Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde. This is realtor and businessman and single father Caleb Kane and intern at Dare PR Stevie Palmer’s story line. Caleb and Stevie were introduced in JUST ONE MORE MOMENT (Sterling Family 1).
Told from dual first person perspectives (Stevie and Caleb) JUST A LITTLE CRUSH follows building but fake relationship between realtor and businessman and single father Caleb Kane and intern at Dare PR Stevie Palmer. As Stevie and Caleb embark on their adventure, their relationships quickly turns into something more.
The world building focuses on Caleb’s fight for custody of his son in the wake of his ex’s need to destroy his life. While Stevie and her sister Valerie continue to focus on their lives going forward, Valerie’s past takes aim at our story line heroine.
The relationship between Caleb and Stevie is one of mutual attraction but Caleb is struggling for custody with his ex, and her refuses to pull Stevie into the mess that is now his life. This is book one in A Sterling Family Crossover Novel and it is Caleb and Stevie’s story and what a great start to a new series and definitely a must read. Caleb and Stevie are definitely attracted to each other and also have really strong chemistry but they come from different worlds because Caleb is wealthy, handsome, can have any woman that he wants and even though he had gone through a really nasty divorce he only seems to see Stevie as a friend and someone to flirt with and she can’t be anything more especially as Caleb is going through a big custody battle for his son Owen who is his world and he couldn’t make any mistakes that could compromise or complicate things. When Stevie was at her best friends Raven’s birthday party Caleb was also there and in the end they ended up having a explosive night together only for Caleb’s ex wife to bring Owen home early so that she could catch him in the act and make his life even more difficult so now Caleb and Stevie are in a two month fake relationship to help him get custody of Owen because his ex wife Alyssa who is manipulative, nasty, condescending, controlling, thinks that she is better than anyone else while also being the one that cheated and also been in rehab and she always made Caleb’s life difficult so being in a relationship with Stevie was the best thing as it could help Caleb with everything that was being thrown at him by his vindictive ex and it would hopefully also give Caleb a chance to get Stevie to see him as more than a friend. Caleb and Stevie are so perfect together and for each other and there connection was really special and even though they had many ups and downs and there relationship was definitely not easy or plain sailing and I was so glad that eventually after everything that they had both gone through they both got the happiness and future that they both wanted and deserved. I read this book in one sitting because I just couldn’t put it down as it was so addictive and had me turning the pages to see what would happen next and it also kept my attention throughout as the storyline was so engaging and enjoyable. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
I loved the authors’ previous collaboration in the Dare Crossover, so I was excited to read their new series together. Needless to say, as the first book in the Sterling Family Crossover, Just a Little Crush does not disappoint at all. Phillips and Wilde deliver a sweet second chance romance between a real estate mogul and a server that will leave you wanting for more!
For Stevie Palmer, working at The Black Door and interning at Dare PR all while getting her degree in marketing keeps her busy these days. Ever since moving from Connecticut to New York three years ago, she’s been working really hard to better her life and of her sister’s who just got out of an abusive relationship. Stevie’s job now is to make sure to provide for them and hoping to get a full-time job at the marketing firm. While attention her best friend’s birthday, Stevie bumps into her friend’s brother, Caleb Sterling.
Having met at The Black Door a year ago, they’ve always been cordial with each other, but there is something about Caleb that keeps pulling her closer. It’s when they cross the line of no return that their lives truly change forever. Caleb has a proposition for her, one that will change the course of their lives as she pretends to be his girlfriend in order for him to get custody of his son. Neither of them expected their feelings for one another to grow so much, it’s clear that she is out of his league and Stevie starts to question of their future together. All while Caleb is doing everything he can to make sure he keeps her for good.
I truly loved reading this book, it’s such a great start to the series! Their chemistry is sizzling and we can see that from the very beginning. It’s evident that Stevie fears not being good enough for Caleb, they come from two different worlds. His life as a wealthy real estate mogul attracts the wrong attention and Caleb has worked really hard to make a name for himself away from his prestigious family. The custody battle that he finds himself in is just prove that Caleb is willing to do anything for those he loves. He cares about Stevie and will do anything to prove that they might just be it for each other. All in all, I enjoyed their story and the ending, it fit the characters really well. I would highly recommend it! :)

Just a Little Crush is the first book in the A Sterling Family Crossover duet. You do not need to have read the three series it brings together to enjoy this as a standalone book. The Sterling Family is a six book series by Carly Phillips (that introduces these characters in book one, Just One More Moment) but it pulls people in from the ten book The Kingston Family series, especially Just One Scandal. You'll find some Dares here also. Big family reunion.
Caleb Kane is a Real Estate Mogel with Beck Daniels at Manhattan Prestige Realty. His parents tried to force him into law and succeeded in establishing his first marriage which was a disaster. Now he is making his own way in the world and wildly successful. The only issue is that his ex, Alyssa, wants him back and is willing to use custody of their six-year-old son, Owen, to accomplish that goal.
Stevie Palmer is on her last few weeks of earning her degree and will transition from an intern at Dare PR to a full-time employee. While she is in school, she works as a waitress at the bar, The Back Door, earing the money she needs for school and the apartment she shares with her sister, Valerie, who is fleeing an abusive ex.
At a birthday party together at The Back Door for Raven, who is a sister to Caleb and the best friend of Stevie, this couple takes their yearlong flirting game into a very hot and steamy night. However, Alyssa hears about of their time together and shows up early to drop Owen back off to his dad, catching them together. She wants to use this to her advantage, but Caleb tells her it is a serious relationship. Now Caleb needs to convince Stevie to play along at least until the custody hearing. As they spend more time together, this fake relationship becomes all too real.
Can they find a way into the future as a family? Will Valerie stay safe from her ex? Will Alyssa be able to come between them? Find out as you work your way through this red-hot in the bedroom and emotionally compelling story.
This was a phenomenal story. Wonderful characters, great storyline, an excellent read! Caleb is a single father going through a nasty divorce with a rich spoiled nasty acting woman that is fighting for their son even though she doesn’t even really want him, she is just doing it to spite Caleb. Caleb has been incredibly careful the last few years with his personal life as to not give his ex-wife Alyssa any reason to go to her lawyer with negative information about him, to take to the judge that might make him lose custody of his son Owen. Stevie is a sweet woman and a great friend to Raven, Caleb’s sister. Stevie and Caleb have been friends since Raven and Stevie have been friends but have never crossed the line beyond friends. Stevie doesn’t think Caleb would ever be interested in her considering Caleb comes from money and is a real estate mogul, whereas Stevie is finishing school, works as a waitress at the bar, The Back Door, and interns at Dare PR. What Stevie doesn’t know is that Caleb has been extremely attracted to Stevie for a long time. So at Raven’s birthday party, after talking to Raven and Raven giving him advice to just have a fun night with Stevie, Caleb throw caution to the wind and decide to follow his sisters advice and takes Stevie home with him and the two finally get to explore their mutual attraction and spend the night feasting on each other. Unfortunately, the next morning, Alyssa shows up early the day she is supposed to drop Owen off with Caleb just so she can try and catch Caleb in a compromising position Stevie. When she walks in on them, she has plenty to say and none of it is nice. How does Stevie become Caleb’s fake girlfriend? How does the court feel about Caleb having a woman in his place when his son is there? Does Alyssa get full custody of Owen? Does Caleb and Stevie get their Happily Ever After???? This is a must read!!!!
This book is part of two cross over series, The Dare series and The Sterling family series so you will see familiar characters if you’ve read any or all of the previous books. That being said it’s not necessary since each can be read alone, it just makes it easier to follow the references if you’ve read any read them all. Stevie and Valarie grew up in a trailer park with an alcoholic abusive father who eventually choked their mother to death and is now in prison. Valarie just ended an abusive relationship and is staying with Stevie. Stevie works as a waitress at her best friend Raven’s bar and also is doing an internship at Dare PR while finishing up her marketing degree. Caleb Kane is her best friends brother and Caleb and Stevie have been flirty towards each other for over a year but Caleb never made a move beyond flirting, partly because his ex wife Alyssa, was fighting him for custody of their son Owen and he didn’t want to give her anything to use against him in her very vindictive ways. Things change at Ravens birthday party when Caleb and Stevie give into their attraction and go home together. The next morning Caleb’s ex bring Owen home several hours early and lets herself into the penthouse without notice catching Caleb and Stevie in a compromising position. With a morality clause in their divorce agreement Caleb has no choice but to lie and say Stevie has been his girlfriend for awhile and since Owen wasn’t with him he hasn’t broken the clause. Between Stevie’s insecurities of not belonging in the uber rich lifestyle of Caleb’s, Alyssa’s vindictive nasty comments and Valarie’s abusive ex stalking her things are very complicated especially since both Caleb and Stevie have both been feeling very real feelings but both are afraid to bring up that they want more than pretend.

It's been a while since I have read anything by this writing pair and I was not disappointed. This crossover read from the Dare and Sterling world was a good read. This was a quick read where the characters had chemistry that was off the charts and since I have not read anything in a while it could still be read as a standalone and not be lost by the overlapping characters and series.
In this book, Stevie is a hard working student that has been helping her sister get over an abusive relationship while they both leave their troubling past in the past. She has been working as a waitress while working on an internship at the Dare agency. She has also had a budding attraction to Caleb - a successful single dad.
Caleb has been fighting his attraction to Stevie since he met her since he has been busy fighting his ex for custody of his son. He has done everything to fly the straight and narrow until he gives into his attraction to Stevie and the pair have one night together only to have it interrupted when Caleb's ex returns his son early with the intent of catching the pair.
In order to keep optics positive during the custody battle, Caleb and Stevie start an fake relationship but what started out as a fake relationship turned into more for this pair as their feelings for each other grew.
This was a quick read that I enjoyed from start to finish. The characters were well written and had chemistry. Their story moved along well and at times a little quickly. Overall, this was a good read and a good start to a spin off series that I enjoyed from the start and would recommend to others.
Just a Little Crush is book one in the Sterling Family Crossover series and is the story of Stevie Palmer and Caleb Kane. There are a lot of crossover characters from the other "Just A" series of the Sterlings/Dare's and it was good to see them make a reappearance.
Stevie is in college for her marketing degree and works for Dare PR as an intern, while working nights at her friend Raven's bar. When Stevie goes to a surprise party for Raven, she comes face to face with Caleb, who she has been not so innocently flirting with for a year. Caleb is the father to a six year old son and has been infatuated with Stevie since he has known her, but with his complicated life because of his ex-wife and raising his son, Caleb hasn't made time for a social life. When Caleb is reminded that he is allowed to enjoy his life, he decides it is time to stop fighting his attraction to Stevie and enjoy himself for once. Except, his ex-wife shows up early to drop his son off and Caleb has to think fast on his feet and claims Stevie is his serious girlfriend. Caleb convinces Stevie to be his fake girlfriend until a custody hearing and although it is not what she wants, Caleb's offer is too good to pass up. Now if they can both not fall for the other in their time together.
This story was well written, there was some angst with side characters and no third act breakup. The spice was good and so was the push and pull between Caleb and Stevie. Caleb taught Stevie to believe in herself like he believed in her and that she was worth everything to him. The HEA was great for everyone in the story and I recommend this book to all lover's of romance.
Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde have delivered a story which was fun, entertaining, humourous, and romantic. JUST A LITTLE CRUSH, book #1 in the new Sterling Family Crossover series is a single dad, fake engagement, crush to lovers romance which has sparkling chemistry, sizzling heat, wonderful characters, ensuring I couldn't put it down.
Stevie Palmer and Caleb Kane are from two different worlds. Stevie and Caleb have been attracted to each other for over a year, both fighting the attraction... until they couldn't. Stevie works two jobs and is finishing off a degree, Caleb is in real estate and going through a messy divorce and custody battle for his son, Owen. One night together turns into more than they both expected when Caleb's ex turns up, and a proposition is made.
I adored Stevie and Caleb, their chemistry sizzled, their banter was terrific, I loved her sassiness and his overprotective ways. Their flirting made me smile, but would their current situation blur the line they had agreed on?
JUST A LITTLE CRUSH was emotional, fun, had a touch of angst, and kept me smiling from beginning to end. Don't get me wrong, there was some anger brought on by Caleb's ex, she was a nasty piece of work. I loved catching up with Raven and Remy, and other characters from previous books.
JUST A LITTLE CRUSH, a love story not to be missed.
It was supposed to be one night to deal with the chemistry that had been growing between them for over a year. One off-the-charts night that led to something more when Caleb got trapped by his ex into saying that Stevie was his serious girlfriend. Caleb is hoping Stevie will help him out for a few months for an upcoming custody hearing. Stevie knows Caleb is a great dad and agrees to help- even though she's pretty sure she's going to get her heart broken when the fake relationship ends.
Stevie is independent, strong and used to being the one taking care of other people, not relying on others. Caleb is always looking for ways to make things better and take care of the people he cares about- and Stevie enters that small group so fast it scares it. The two were so natural and 'fit' so well together I loved watching them try to figure themselves out- because two strong willed and independent people are always going to have trouble figuring out a relationship, especially when they both have feelings are are pretending not to! Caleb, with his gentle, easy charm and sexy, dominant energy (which don't seem like they should work together but really did) has jumped to the top of my bbf list and one of my new favorite male MCs. His chemistry with Stevie sizzled from the beginning and this book gets full points for heat as well as emotion.
I ended up reading "Just a Little Crush" in one sitting and I think it's one of my favorite books I've read so far this year. A wonderfull, romantic "be yourself and good things happen" story.
Caleb is in the middle of an ugly custody case. His soon to be ex is using their 6 year old son as leverage to get what she wants. Needless to say, the last thing he is looking for is a new relationship. Stevie is working hard to get her career in PR started so she doesn’t have time to start a relationship. Due to some circumstances out of their control, they decide to fake date until his custody case is decided. Will fake dating become real love? Stevie has a lot going on in her life. She works 2 jobs and is finishing school. When her sister moves in to escape her abusive ex, Stevie’s life becomes so busy it’s hard to find any free time.I like her drive and ambition. I felt like her agreeing to help Caleb made sense. Caleb is a grumpy man with good reason. He never would have asked Stevie to lie about their relationship but he was backed into a corner. The author did a good job showing how decent and upstanding Caleb is and how patient he is with his ex. The relationship and feelings developed at lightning speed but it was believable because they already knew each other. This is a fake dating/engagement story. Caleb is successful and established in his career. Stevie is just getting started with her career. This is a quick read about two people who are attracted to each other discovering that there’s more to the relationship than attraction. I enjoyed their story and will read more from this author in the future.
