You are being formed. The only question is what is forming you?
The truth is that your life will look like whatever you love most.
You are shaped by what you seek. You become what you behold.
What we spend our time consuming will inform who we are becoming, and where we set our eyes today will determine the trajectory of who we are years and even decades from now. God's invitation to His people is to be formed for fellowship: fellowship with God and with one another.
We are born into this world malformed and broken, but we don't have to stay that way. God loves us and He wants to change us. "Spiritual Formation" is the question of what, why, and how God changes His people to look more and more like Christ.
Christians often struggle with the "Why?" of the Christian life: Why is it good to obey God? Why pray? Why read the bible? Why share the gospel? In Formed for Fellowship: Becoming what you Behold, Kyle Worley helps connect the dots between the practices of the Christian life and the nature and works of God. If we become what we behold, then every "spiritual discipline" of the Christian life must lead us to look upon God.
Formed for Fellowship will answer crucial questions like: What is a person? How are we formed? Where do we belong? What do we love? What do we know? What has our attention? What do we give our time to? Where is our hope? Who is our enemy?
Every one of us is being shaped, changed, and formed every day. Are we being shaped to look more like Christ or more like the world? Formed for Fellowship is an invitation to look upon God and be changed.

This book felt a little slow at the start, but once I got further in, I really began to appreciate both the focus and approach, as it deeply roots the process of formation in the theology of scripture. The theme of becoming what you behold was very appreciated especially as the ultimate goal toward which we are headed. Definitely worth the read.
I really enjoyed Formed for Fellowship by Kyle Worley. It is a rich yet accessible book that I would wholeheartedly recommend both to new Christians and to more seasoned believers. Worley writes with clarity and depth, making profound theological truths approachable without oversimplifying them.
I can easily see this book being used in a group context. The reflection questions at the end of each chapter are thoughtful and practical, inviting readers not only to reflect but to put the truths of the book into action in everyday life. These questions make the book especially well suited for small groups, discipleship settings, or mentoring relationships.
I was particularly encouraged by the chapters on stewardship and by Worley’s clear articulation that we are not saved merely for salvation itself, but saved into fellowship with God. He does an excellent job of grounding the Christian life in our union with Christ, emphasizing a finished-work perspective that is both freeing and transformative. Sanctification, as he presents it, does not flow from self-promotion or self-effort, but from fixing our eyes on Jesus. As we grow closer to Christ, we are changed—our walk is shaped by communion with Him rather than by striving to manufacture spiritual growth.
Overall, Formed for Fellowship is a deeply encouraging and Christ-centered book that helps re-anchor the Christian life in what God has already accomplished for us in Christ. It left me both strengthened in my faith and eager to live more fully out of the fellowship for which we were created.
