My name is Toni aleo and I'm a #PredHead, #sherrio, #potterhead, and part of the #familybusiness!
I am also a wife to my amazing husband, mother of a wrestler and a gymnast, and also a fur momma to Phoebe, Gaston el Papillon & Winston.
You can usually find me hollering for the whole Nashville Predators since I'll never give my heart to one player again. When I'm not in the gym getting swole, I'm usually writing, trying to make my dreams a reality or being a taxi for my kids. I'm obsessed with Harry Potter, Supernatural, Disney and anything that sparkles! I'm pretty sure I was Belle in a past life and if I could be on any show it would be supernatural so I can hunt with Sam and Dean.
I really enjoyed this set although one character ruined one book for me completely.
I loved Shea and Elli's story. Elli did get a tad irritating at times but I kind of got her. I will say that as someone with hypothyroidism, in my case I manage to keep my weight under control because I don't put all the crap in my face she did the entire book (as well as exercise..a lot). That is one reason I was a tad annoyed with her, her insecurities are understandable it is a struggle not to mention what she went through but damn do something about it besides whine...like I don't know put down the cake, the Starbucks, etc. The way she acted at the end almost ruined the whole book for me but since she got her head out of her ass in such a grand way, I got over it. So this one was 4 stars.
I loved Lucas and Aiden, but I hated Fallon with a passion and she completely ruined this story for me. It would have been great had she not been a total complete selfish bitch for 90% of the book. I mean you get forgiven for all your selfish crap but you just keep treating Lucas like crap for something he didn't even do and still treated him like crap after you found out he didn't do anything. Fallon was one of those characters that I wish were real so I could slap the shit out of them, repeatedly. I was hoping Lucas would say screw it take his son and get the hell away from her, forever. She irritated me several times in the other books that they made an appearance in too, she is still a twat. Unfortunately Fallon's character made this one a 2 star for me, as much as I loved Lucas and Aiden she just ruined it because I wasn't seeing what Lucas saw in her at all and it seemed like he would be treated like crap the rest of his life stuck with her.
I absolutely loved Tate and Audrey, I thought for a minute she was going to drive me nuts in this story but she was so much smarter than her sister, thank goodness. Tate was absolutely awesome, well then again all of these guys are but he was dealing with his own demons that made him even more special. Audrey totally deserved her Prince Charming and she certainly got him in Tate. This one was 5 stars.
I enjoyed Jordan and Aynslee's novella, it was short but sweet and it was nice to see what happened to Jordan after his injury. This was a 4 star for me.
I also loved Erik and Piper. Erik really annoyed me but I understand what he was thinking, I just got annoyed that it took him so freaking long to figure his crap out. Piper was great, I loved the whole hockey stick attack that was hilarious especially causing Phillip to put his helmet on. lol! I liked that Piper stood up for him and fought for him, especially when Harper turned into a total bitch. I was never crazy about Harper and this book kind of confirmed that and while so far I hate Reese I will give the next book a shot, more for Phillip than Reese, I can totally see already why Audrey hates her and I am guessing I will too. This was probably my favorite book in this series because while Piper had some pity parties she was strong and wasn't backing down. This one was a 5 star for me.
This was an amazing series especially for this hockey lover! I loved all of the characters, especially Lucas and Tate! There was a ton of drama, love, heartache and angst throughout the entire series. Lots of steamy scenes and a couple characters I loved to hate, until they grew on me. I can not wait to read more from this author!
Having these books in a bundle was perfect...being able to read the series as a whole and not having to wait made them so much better. I loved every book and can't wait for more!
This is the I've ever ride by this author. I loved all 5 stories. Ellie and Shea was the first story and the side characters of Harper and Jakob. Then Fallon and Lucas man Fallon is so stubborn. Aiden was the cutest and I knew Levi was a dbag. Audrey and Tate broke my heart bc I felt all the feels for Audrey. Then Jordan and Anslee was a great short story. Finally Erik and Piper. My heart hurt for the pain Erik suffered as a child. But the love Piper had was fierce.
I started reading Assassins then about 4 books in there were 5 previous stories. So now i have read them all. Love all the characters and their love interests but also their friendships. Love how they are all family and we see how they stay together through the years.
i love this series! My loyalty started with Taking Shots but hasn't stopped there, I have lots of love in my heart for these men and the strong women that love them.
The is nothing wrong, so no need to criticize. The heroes and their female counterparts rocked! Finding that other half of yourself and fighting to keep it makes the pain and struggles worthwhile in the end.
I have all of the books except one as single editions but I bought the collections when I want to re-read the first books in the series where it all gets started. Many of the stories are the parents of the characters in Nashville Assassins: Next Generation.
Book 1 loveeeeeed this book. I loved the characters I love the friendships/relationships and I loved that we got nearly an entire book to enjoy Shea and Ellis as a couple rather than having to wait 3/4 the way through.
Book 2 I enjoyed this book and I really loved Lucas and Aiden but Fallon kind of pissed me off. Her character was also so untrusting even when she found out the truth and yet she was always forgiven......it was a bit frustrating.
Book 3 Tate Tate Tate..... what a beautiful character. I'm so glad I got to read about him. I was a little shocked on how well he spoke English in such a short time frame but other than that I'm glad once again we didn't have to wait too long for him to find his girl.
Book 4 novella I'm not really a huge fan of novella's as they don't go into enough detail for my liking.
Book 5 I'm a bit on the fence with this one. As much as I loved the characters I just felt like we went around in circles discussing the same feelings and insecurities. I think the book could have been condensed or filled with other detail.
Where to begin? Elli was a complete wuss and Shea was not much better. You got NO sense of why these 2 characters would like each other at all - there was no chemistry to speak of. And the dialogue?! So juvenile. Shea having a heart-to-heart with his sister about how much he liked Elli?! Asking his sister if she thinks he's in love with Elli?? Really? And this from someone who's supposed to be a hot, gorgeous hockey star? In what alternate universe, I have to ask. Completely unrealistic dialogue from every single character in this book.
Frankly, this read like the romance novels I bought as a young teenager many years ago. And even Barbara Cartland had better dialogue. I might have liked this when I was 13. Maybe. But as an adult who reads a lot of romance, this didn't do a thing for me. I bought this set for $2.99 & overpaid. I struggled to finish the first book - Taking Shots - & deleted the rest. I won't be buying anything from Ms. Aleo in the future.
3.5 STARS as a series. When reading all of these together, you get to see what the author feels is sexy. Hot hockey players are hot, possessive, and giving. And hot...did I say hot? You can also tell if the characters have a deep foundation, so they don't sound alike. While there were some repetitious things about the characters and their thoughts, each relationship had a different base and were definitely unique from each other. I enjoyed the humor and quirks. While some HEAs were a bit rushed, I believed most of them and enjoyed each journey.
Thoroughly enjoyed this series despite never watching an ice hockey game in my life. Who knew the men of ice hockey could be so dramatic in and out of the rink?! Haha! Had some great laughs while reading the books especially the scene where Tate Odder goes salsa dancing with Audrey and the guys upload them on Facebook, could so see that happening. Plenty of drama and hot and steamy moments pulling you into the story. Toni Aleo writes her love scenes like real woman really want to read it. You rock!
This world that Toni Aleo has created is mesmerizing. Each character you meet you will fall in love with. The side characters are intriguing. Each story has a back story - hypothyroidism, alcoholism, single mom, death in family, womanizing. Along with the back story is a HEA love story that you can't help but get lost in. Buying this box set has been a great start to this series. Not to mention I love it when I discover a series that is almost complete. I can binge read all things Assassins. ❤️
I actually read Trying To Score first. Then found that it was book two of the series.I bought the set and started at the first book in the series, and even though the sexual content is quite graphic, the characters made you feel like they were true life stories. I actually had a hard time, stopping at the end of a chapter, I wanted to keep reading. This was the first time I read Toni Aleo and will be on the lookout for future books.
I wish I could rate each book individually. I really liked all of the books in this bundle however, there were ones I thought were better than others. The best were "Trying To Score" & "Falling For The Backup". I wasn't even going to read "Falling For The Backup" b/c I'm not a big fan of older woman, younger man stories but this one was awesome and just pulled me in. Awesome series so far and of course I love reading about hockey players. There is something so sexy about them.
The Assassins Series- Toni Aleo- Saw FB post about this author and some terrible reader, after I checked out this box set I decided it looked like a good read. 5 books all centered around the Nashville Assassins Hockey team. Each book had it's own unique story with twists and turns. I really enjoyed this series a lot and I see a few more books out there following this I might have to pick up next. If you like hockey players you would really enjoy this read.
I love book bundles like this! If you love romance and hockey then this is a great series to read. Toni is a great writer and she weaves the stories together flawlessly. A few times I wanted to slap a few of the characters, but that is part of writing about everyday people with real flaws. This was a great series to start my book challenge off with and I will definitely read more by this author.
2015 - Book challenge - An Author You've Never Read
This has got to be the best series of a family of friends I have read since The With Me in Seattle series! I love how everybody intertwine with each other and even though their story has need in a way you still get to see what is going on with them so therefore it is like no one's story really ends! Thank you Toni Aleo I can't wait to read Reece and Phillips story and then to meet the new guy Karson!
So, I read a short story by Toni Aleo in an anthology and was hooked. The same can be said for this series. Her writing is sso addictive that I hated to put the book down to sleep. My favorite books in the series were Empty Net and Blue Lines. I can't wait for more and I'm getting ready to start Breaking Away.
OMG I love this series, I expected some quick fluffy romance novels but they were so much better. All of the characters in each book developed over each book, it was fantastic. Anybody reading the series needs to start from the first book, I guess each one could be read a standalone but I don't recommend it because each person appears in the other books.
I love this series, the writing style is great, the stories are amazing and Toni Aleo has not disappointed in her stories. Such an amazing talent to make someone like me who is not a big fan of sports actually like the game of hockey. To see the life of the players in another light is a great gift to have. Thank you Toni for this amazingly awesome read.
Love love this series. So easy to read. Flows well and you just fall in love with these hot alpha hockey players and their kickass females. When you read these books you actually wish there was a Nashville Assassins team with these players. Can't wait for the next instalment of Nashville Assassins.
This series was fantastic. Every book flowed into each other. I loved everyone and now am waiting for the next one. The story lines were realistic. The romance was steamy and hot hot hot.
I have really enjoyed this book bundle. Every story is so very well written, I can't decide which one I liked best .Absolutely great writing I have to continue to the next book but so seriously hooked 5 amazing stars.
