Brutal Beauty #2

Tempted to Rebel

Rate this book
They promised to love me, but that love might kill me.

After I finally agree to having a child with Rage, the domineering mafia enforcer holds on too tight. His love is suffocating, bruising, and too much for me to handle.

But his brother Rebel might be the secret to our success. He lives to bend the rules, and I quickly become his favorite one to break. As our stolen kisses heat up, the brothers learn that taking turns isn't enough.

They need to share my body in order to claim my heart.

When a hidden threat starts claiming victims that look like me, the danger in our lives takes a darker turn. In order to protect the future we're building together, we need to get stronger, and fast.

Because we can't save each other if we're at each other's throats. Loving these men might kill me, but fighting with them guarantees it if I can't change.

I'll do anything to get our happy ending, even if it means walking through Hell to get there.

Tempted to Rebel is book two of the Brutal Beauty series, a why choose mafia dark romance filled with angst and a growing harem of brothers. You must read book one, Claimed by Rage, before reading book two, Tempted to Rebel. Book one and book two end on cliffhangers that lead directly into the next book, with the end of the series HEA guaranteed.

Please check the content warnings on the author's website before reading. There are dark themes woven throughout this book as we dive into the boys’ past, and Misti doesn’t want anyone SHOOK unexpectedly. ♥️

After that cliffhanger in Claimed by Rage,i needed to know what the guys were planning.
Because there was a cage waiting for Celia….and Rage wanted her in it until she was pregnant and couldn’t leave them.
There was a lot of anger at first, that’s true, and they all needed to get it out of their system before anything real could happen.
Rebel was the easy one,as long as she was back,as long as he could hold her, everything was good in his world.
Ruin slowly started to open up,he even took off his gloves, and at one point he raised his mask enough to share his first kiss with Celia!
After Rage finally managed to cool down a little,he showed a sweeter side, one that he needed to show more often if his plans was to convince her he cared.
And Thanatos….that man may have thought he hated her for trying to get her hooks into his brothers, but the more he learned about her,the less that made sense.
So,progress….and that’s good,right?

If only there wasn’t a madman in town, going around killing women that look like Celia….
The guys know in their gut who it is,but where ís he??
They need to find him,not just before he makes more victims, but most importantly before he gets his hands on their woman!
And that leaves me with a cliffhanger that i’m not sure i will survive….because it looks bad, really, really bad this time….

This second part of the series was just as good as the first.
We get to know the guys a little better, and that knowledge helps Celia accept them.
Thanatos (Riot) is still on the outside,at least that’s how he feels, but i don’t think he’ll be able to hold back much longer.
I just hope they all get the chance to build something beautiful, something lasting.
That they find that madman before it’s too late.
And that they’re all alive and well…..
And that’s why i need Bound by Ruin, badly!

Hard Truths and Hopeful Promises
There’s a lot of angst in this book between these characters but also serious growth 🥰
It starts off with the immediate aftermath of the cage and boy oh boy does Celia let the boys know they’ve done her wrong! 😑 I like how she stands her ground despite the control they demand 👑
There’s a lot of emotions to work through for all of the family members in terms of their needs, wants, and backstories - makes for a rollercoaster read 🙈 certain brothers have learnt a little mellowness and others are learning what feelings actually are and how to deal with that 😅 the surprise addition to the family makes for an interesting development! The heat definitely picks up in this book 🔥🌶️ as well as the swoon moments 😍 You learn who the serial unaliver is in this book and the significance that creates, especially after that cliffhanger of an ending 😯hoping the final book comes asap agter that!

I received this ARC and first and foremost, HOLY GUACAMOLE 🥵 just when I thought the 🌶️ was good in the first book, it got really really good in Tempted to Rebel🤌🏻 the plot? The twist? The cliffhanger?! All chefs kiss. I HIGHLY recommend reading the first book in the series before starting Tempted to Rebel. If I could rate this book and the first one with infinity stars, I would!

Omg, what an extremely wild ride! This book did not disappoint ,like, at all. From start to finish, it had me completely hooked. The only downside? It ended way too soon, and I was left desperately wanting more. I need book 3 rn 😭😭😭😭

The dynamics in this reverse harem were so addictive. Their connection with Celia? Insanely deep and layered.
I’m especially thrilled that Ruin finally made a little progress with Celia ,it was subtle, but so satisfying.
And don’t even get me started on that moment when Celia gave that tiny sliver of affection to Rage. I was full-on sobbing This man literally burning alive fr her . Those two absolutely deserve their own book. The push and pull between them? The sheer alchemy in the air when they confront each other? Unrealllllll. I could read an entire series just about them.

And now THANATOS is joining the group?! I’m already feral just thinking about it. Like excuse meeeee, sirrrr you verbally abused her, humiliated her, and now you want her love ? Be serious💀💀

Book 3 better be thick or I’m lowkey disappointed. Not in the story itself which is still fire, but in how wild everything’s gotten. Their relationships are spiraling into chaos, and now there’s a serial killer in the mix too?? How is this all gonna unfold in just last book?

I need answers. I need emotions. I need pain, healing, growth, and every single messy, tender, unhinged moment of their lives. Feed me everything Misti

book 2 was better than book 1, to be honest. Celia is a bad ass bitch, and I absolutely love it! She is ruthless with these men. She has no problem letting them know they did her dirty. I don't want to give too much away, but you definitely find out some secrets from book one! This was worth the wait and worth the read! I'm not ok with this cliffhanger, though. These cliffhangers are really testing my patience. now I need book 3 ASAP!

I think reverse harems are the best when you can't decide which one you love the most because you can tell that they're all not just a cabon copy of each other that gets lamer and lamer down the line.

Tempted to Rebel
Título: Tempted to Rebel
Autora: Susan Reeves

While Rage, Rebel, and Ruin are all charming, intimidating, intriguing, and ruthless (i.e., lovable) in their own ways, Rebel, whose devil-may-care attitude and boyish charm always make me smile, has been my favorite brother since the first book, so I'm glad that the second book focuses on him the most. That said, I'm also glad that Tempted to Rebel reveals more about all the brothers, including the grouchy, mysterious, and largely obstinate (but similarly endearing) Thanatos, offering welcome insight into their slightly different actions, desires, and motives concerning the beautiful and admirably willful Celia and certain dangerous family members.

The amusing banter and sizzling chemistry between Celia and her stubborn mafia men continue, whether she agrees or wants to be theirs or not (which understandably changes from day to day, sometimes moment to moment), and like Claimed by Rage, this dark romance is full of angst, danger, grief, intrigue, steam, and violence, with many heartwarming and hilarious moments to balance everything else out. I love where the overall story is going, and after another tantalizing cliffhanger that raises the stakes for all the MCs, I'm excited to see how it concludes in Bound by Ruin. Will Rage, Rebel, Ruin, and Thanatos protect Celia from the upcoming danger and escape it unscathed? Will Celia finally get the loving family she's always wanted, even if it's not the one she once imagined? I can't wait to find out!

⭐ - 4.5/5

This book gave me everything I wanted from the sequel and then slapped me with a cliffhanger like a sadist in love.

Let’s start with Rage—he owns this book. The obsessive kind of love that borders on dangerous, the silent desperation, the way he tries to give Celia not just his loyalty but a literal future (yes, the breeding arc had me gasping)—and yet, she pushes him away over and over. I get that she’s scared, I do, but watching him try and fail to get her to see him nearly broke me. Rage is violence wrapped in heartbreak, and I was here for all of it.

Thanos went from broody mystery to full-throttle desire, and wow, it added heat and unexpected emotional depth. I wasn’t prepared for how much he’d crave Celia, but once it hit, it hit. Ruin’s... well, he’s Ruin. Still intense, still questionable (the knife handle scene, I mean... okay), but clearly devoted.

What I loved most? The emotional tension. This book isn’t just about dark romance—it’s about obsession, broken people trying to belong to someone, and the fear that maybe love comes with blood on its hands. Celia’s conflict made me want to shake her sometimes, but I get it. Kind of.

Overall: darker, hotter, and more emotionally charged than book one. Easily my favorite of the series so far.

~ arc review

4.5/5

i really love this story and how emotionally intense it is when reading it.

the guys are so interesting and make the book shine — rage is a goddamn asshole, rebel is flirty and fun but vulnerable and ruin is my whole personality lol i love him.

also… riot anyone? 👁️👄👁️

i loved to see how their relationships grew stronger and how the fmc’s slowly bringing ruin out of his shell — his scenes with rebel and celia are my favorites

the reasons for my 4.5 and not 5 star rating (should be a 4 but i liked it too much to do it):

• i get that this is a short book but i wish more about her personal life would’ve been brought up — where’s the brother? the mother? how come nobody showed up looking for her? weird if you think the brother is pretty important in the bratva — add in more regarding her world and how the people that are used to her are reacting to everything that’s happening (better world building)

• celia kinda accepts her fate way too fast for my liking besides being a bitch to them. i would’ve loved to see more groveling, angst and anger between all the characters

• the brothers position in the bratva is too loose for me — where are they in the hierarchy? what else do they do besides the club?

• celia’s position in the bratva too — how it went to shit? how has it been for her ever since being left out of it? i think this would’ve contributed so much to the story.

If you liked the previous book, you probably love this one too. The story continues where it ended, and I might say that I think this book was even better than the previous one. I can't wait to read the next one, because damn... The story was already fun, but it got even more interesting in this book.

Something I was very excited about was

Now I need the next book. I need to read more, to know more. I want to drink up more of all the emotions and drama flying around. And holy shit that ending?!

I got this book as an ARC, so a thank you to the author. I'm grateful and am leaving this review 100% voluntarily. I really liked reading it!

Omfg! This BOOK! 😍🫠

Celia and her men!
This one starts off right where book one left off with Celia being brought back to her men's care and into a cage no less 😉 and boy doesn't she have something to say about that! But the men, God love them, they are determined to win her heart over and do whatever it takes to make sure she knows she isn't alone through the good, the bad and the ugly 😍

Even with all the bodies piling up from the man who broke into her house in book one, they have figured out exactly who it is, but the question is will they find and stop him before he finds them?

I absolutely cannot wait for book 3! The cliffhangers are reallllll Misti 😅

The cliffhanger at the end of Claimed by Rage had me dreading the beginning of Tempted to Rebel and it lived up to those expectations. While Celia makes a lot of contradictory decisions as her heart and mind war over what to do and feel, I rarely agree with Rage’s methods. While his underlying sentiments are romantic, his actions are possessive and brutish, and possibly even unforgivable.

Rebel remains my favorite - he’s the puppy dog in the harem for sure. Ruin is troubled but also so poetic; some of his internal dialogue is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. Thanatos is a wild card but something about him makes me just want to love him and I’m so excited to see how things will play out.

Tempted to Rebel raises the stakes quite a bit and there’s a great, looming danger that reaches a boiling point at the very end, resulting in yet another brutal cliffhanger. Really looking forward to Bound by Ruin!

The feels from book 2 man… heavy pregnancy triggers so please check the trigger warnings. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. The plot really ramped up with book 2 and it made me love these men even more. The way Rage becomes more of what Celia needs and the way she finally starts to let him in is even more beautiful than I thought it would be. Rebel is even more of the golden retriever psycho and always brings a smile to the story. The way Ruin and Celia are coming together…. There aren’t words. I have a feeling those two are going to make me cry in book 3. Tempted to Rebel picks up right where Claimed By Rage ends and this one also ends on a cliffhanger and it’s a doozy. Looking forward to book 3 and seeing more of ruin and even Thanatos!

I was torn between 4 and 5 stars, so I rounded down, but this series is addicting! I love how we got to know the characters in more depth in this book, and we were able to watch them grow and evolve together. Rage, Rebel, Ruin, and Thanatos (who assumes his own R name by the end) are multidimensional - Just when you think you’ve gotten them figured out, they do something that surprises you. And Celia, who has done everything to distance herself from the Bratva now finds herself pulled back in.

The cliffhanger at the end was so stressful and I need the next book now!

Highly recommend if you like:

Celia, Rage, Rebel and Ruin are back in book 2. The boys are charming in their own quirky ways and Celia does a great job making sure they get what they need, sorta. Their older half brother seems to not like Celia, but is it her or is it him that's truly the issue. He says he hates her, but it feels fake. Celia and Rage are intense; Rebel seems far more laid back, he'll take her when he gets from her. Ruin, I can't figure out, but in the best way. He's quietly seductive and very unsure of himself. He wants her, but can't trust himself. I love the action in this book, the way they all complement each other and that cliffhanger has me excited for the 3rd book!

This moves at a fast pace, Rage and Rebel are too hurt by Celia to see straight, Ruin is contemplating making her bleed and Thanatos thinks she’s just using his brothers. It does get better for them and worse too at the end. My heart broke for Celia, and having had fertility issues myself, I can say that the emotional pain is intense. I loved how everyone’s feeling developed, especially for Ruin, who seemed to be learning from scratch about how things work and Thanatos who doesn’t think he’s worthy of her. (He totally is).
The spice is even spicier in this book, so I’m guessing my kindle may combust in the next one!
And the threat from the cereal unaliver becomes more intense, leading to the most explosive of endings!
Fantastic!

What can I say!?

This honestly was so good! I couldn’t put it down and finished it so quickly! The story line was steamy, passionate and suspenseful! Adding a new brother to a mix made it even more exciting. Getting to see the main characters relationship developing in deferent ways just wanted you to have more!! The Steamy scenes were ‘HOt’. Who wouldn’t want four brothers protecting you! I’m honestly now counting down the days till the next book comes out! Just WOW!

I 100% recommend anyone to read it!

First. Wow. Second I need book 3 to come out now.
When I read the last sentence and the book ended I threw my kindle and whispered “WHAT?!” It was a whisper because I didn’t want to wake my kids 😂
The rush of the last chapter though…I don’t like cliffhangers that’s for sure.
Is this book smut? Absolutely. BUT it’s soooo good! 10x better than book one. I had to read this in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down. My only complaint about it is some chapters are stupid long…but 3 brothers 🥵 I approve.

Omg, what a freaking ending. I love Misti’s writing, I was on the edge of my seat for the entire book, wanting to know what was going to happen. After running away Than finds Celia and brings her home to her men, and tensions are high. I love Rebel, he is sweet and caring and is always there for her. My heart breaks for Ruin and his past, he had some great growth throughout this book. I can’t believe that ending, how could that happen, I wanted to cry. I need the next book asap.

My sweet sweet Ruin. I adore the playfulness of Rebel, the determination of Rage, even the consistency of Riot
... but my heart breaks wide open for Ruin. I love how his brothers surround him regardless... love how Celia let's him be him. There are some great moments about human growth, learning to love and trust, learning to exist after heart break. This cliffhanger has me on the edge so be prepared.

We're getting there! If only there wasn't a serial killer on the loose

Did I read this book too fast? Yes, I did. I was even surprised when I saw that I was at the end of the book. And to think that I almost stopped reading because I was so mad during the first part. That cliffy! Ugh. I need to know what happens next asap. Of course, just when things are getting better between Celia and her men, someone comes along to ruin it.

💞 THE MAINS

If he wants a wife, he’s going to have to learn that he can’t force me into anything. I’ll either go willingly, or not at all. Even if it kills me.

Celia — She's still as defiant as ever. I loved that she's not letting these guys, especially Rage, to just run her over. I was so proud of her.

“You own me, mama. My body. My strength. My heart. My soul.”

Rage — He still ignites Celia's (and my) temper like no other because he genuinely does not see anything wrong with wanting to lock her in a cage or handcuff her, etc. But the thing is, he's trying. He's still determined to give her what she wants, which is a baby and a family.

I don’t want to force her to be with me. I want her to want me, no matter what our future together looks like. Isn’t that what partners do? They stick together through whatever life throws at them?

Rebel — Ohh, Rebel is my favorite right now. Despite being hurt by Celia's action in the last book, he was still the first one to extend an olive branch, basically, save her from being inside the cage.

I wonder what it’s like to be wrapped up inside of her. To be consumed in her presence, unable to see anything outside of her light and warmth.

Ruin — He's still not as loud as the others, but he's always there for Celia. We also finally find out about his past and scars. He's slowly getting out of his comfort zone and trying things to get closer to Celia, and his mask is literally getting chipped away.

I’ve learned that I crave more than Celia’s body—I crave her love, too. And that’s the most dangerous desire of all.

Thanatos aka Riot — This guy sent my blood pressure through the roof with his treatment of Celia and what he said at the end of Book 1, but he slowly changed his attitude in this book. I guess he finally realized that his brothers are never going to let her go. Karma got him back with those wet dreams, too, and seeing the four together made him feel left out. I wish to see more suffering from him before I can forgive him, though.

Together, we might be strong enough to overcome our weaknesses. Rage can hold me tight when my strength and confidence wavers. Rebel can keep me smiling and bright and carefree. Ruin can keep me true to myself and to others. And Thanatos… I’m not sure how he fits in yet, but I know he has a place.

😍 WHAT I LOVED

✅ REBEL!!! Sweetness overload + who knew he'd have that kind of kink 😍
✅ All the guys comforting Celia during a very emotional time for her
✅ Rage tracking her cycle cracked me up 🤣
✅ Group scene (finally! nothing complicated but still)
✅ Rage and Thanatos apologizing

🙅🏻‍♀️ WHAT I DIDN'T LOVE

❎ The cage

✍🏻 RATINGS

SWOON SCORE: 💘💘💘 Cute Enough to Keep
DID I SHIP THEM? 😄 Yes, Eventually
SPICE LEVEL: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Hot and Explicit
EMOTIONAL BREAKDOWN
— Laughed? 🙂 A Little
— Cried? 😢 Teared Up

Would I Recommend to Fellow Swoon Collectors?
✅ Yes, but only if you can be patient with these boys!

ARC review.

following on from book one

this is INTENSE!!! sexual, domineering, unravelling truths, grudges, trauma and history making a peak through.

These men!! tantrums, forced proximity, knife play, hand necklaces...

Celia is towing the line of drowning, living, and loving between Rage, Rebel, Ruin, and Thanatos.

what builds up literally makes you shake with fury in one breath, to laughter in another.

thank you Misti, please tell me book 3 is soon 😊

I received an ARC of this book and was somewhat excited to see how things played out from the ending of the last book. I was a little annoyed in the beginning with how Rage was acting, but by the end I wanted to see more of him. The way this ended up I really want to know how this whole storyline ends up, I really ended up liking the brothers a lot by the end. There were a few parts that made me cringe HARD, but overall I liked it by the end!

Tempting and twisted! This series is spicy hot with plenty of action. Since they each end on a cliffhanger you need to read in order. So go back and grab Claimed by Rage and buckle up for a hot Bratva thriller. If you are up to date, this one is even more exciting than the last.

So, I got this book as an ARC read. I read both books over the weekend, and I could not put them down. I loved how she has finally started letting the brothers in. Again, it leaves you on another cliffhanger, so be prepared for that. the 🌶 is starting to pick up in this book and can't wait to find out what happens in the next maybe the older brother will join too?

Wow, this book was so good!! After the ending of the first book, I was really excited for this one, and it didn’t disappoint. The story was amazing, and I loved how the relationships between Celia and her men evolved. And the spice was incredible! There were some pregnancy related TW, so keep that in mind if it is a potential trigger for you. And of course, it ends on a pretty massive cliffhanger…which basically left me screaming at my kindle and wanting the next book immediately lol!!
