An Outcast In Another World #4.5

The Man Who Sought Infinity: An Outcast in Another World, Book 4.5

Rate this book
The invasion of Earth continues—along with worse things on the horizon.

Jason has finally gotten confirmation that Rob is alive. Now, all he has to do is ensure that Rob still has a home to return to when all is said and done. After defeating a Blighted copy of himself and growing stronger, Jason puts all his efforts into defending Earth from the eldritch monsters that seek to devour it.

Unfortunately, sometimes, humans make for the worst kinds of monsters. Jason's investigation into a series of bizarre incidents reveals horrifying experimentation that would put an ordinary mad scientist to shame. Someone is trying to harness the power of the Blight... and they don't care how many people end up suffering along the way.

Can't have that happening. Jason and his newly assembled team of misfits refuse to let Earth turn into a madman's personal playground. They're more than happy to introduce some humanity to the good doctor.

Preferably by ramming a sword through his face.

An Outcast in Another World is a LitRPG adventure series with elements of fantasy, isekai, progression, and weak-to-strong. Jason's side story focuses on the world that Rob left behind after being isekai'd. Fight scenes are high-octane duels that involve creative decision-making on Jason's part.

Hello all you lovely people! My name is Brett - a.k.a. KamikazePotato - and I've been a massive fan of fantasy stories since the first time I first picked up a book. Over the years, I've devoured well over 100 fantasy novels, dozens of fantasy video games, plenty of fantasy TV shows and movies...you get the idea.

Naturally, this made me want to create a fantasy world of my own. Around the time I decided to sit down and write a story I would actually share with everyone, I also got into the LitRPG genre, and here we are.

I plan to write plenty more stories in this genre, and to spread my wings out to other genres as well! Writing is a joy, and so is getting to see people enjoy what I've created.

This was the second novella in the Outcast in Another World Series. It is set between the 4th and 5th instalments of the regular series and just like the first novella this followed Jason rather than Rob as the main character and was set on an Earth now facing an invasion from the Blight and meddling from the Gods.

This series is a very fun mix of LitRPG and portal fantasy. It also has a decent story, fun characters, plenty of action, and some cool magic happenings.

The first novella with Jason as the lead was pretty good quality and that remains true of this book. This whole series is very consistent in terms of quality. In this one Jason had to deal with a new enemy. One who was as much trouble to both the Blight and the Gods as he was to Jason and humanity in general. To counter the new threat Jason began to assemble a team of his own.

The story was pretty fun. The new villain definitely made an impact and I liked the introduction we got to Jason’s new team.

All in all I was quite happy with this one. It was a novella but still topped 8 hours in audio so it was a decent length.

Rating: 4 stars.

Audio Note: Neil Hellegers did a decent job with the audio. Dude struggles a bit with the female dialogue but outside of that is a good narrator.

Even though this was a shorter story. I still had a blast. Love the authors process and story writing style. The supporting characters were what really made this story. Baker and Dino-man had such unique perspectives and plot roles that it really made it a blast to read.

Plus the way Jason wins in the end was hilarious and probably the most demeaning way to beat a villain that I have seen in a long time. So awesome.

A bit boring until the end. Glad to see Jason is catching up and getting his own advantages

Again, as much as I don’t usually like interludes, this was awesome.
