This was commissioned by Shell in 1957 to celebrate their logo on their Diamond Jubilee.
We see artworks ranging from still-life to Venus which feature scallop-shaped shells. There is a section on scallops in heraldry and coats of arms. Also in carvings and other sculpture.
I thought the colourful illustrations were excellent and this might be liked by a natural history museum or for a study project.

This book was a gift to mark the Diamond Jubilee of the Shell Transport and Trading Company in 1957! It was fun to read about the references to scallops in history and art. The cover is beautiful as are the photos inside. I appreciate the effort these authors put into such a niche topic.
