Lost on the Bayou is the first book in the Bayou Series.
Grant Kenner’s life is the bayou. As game warden in Belle Grove, Louisiana, Grant spends his time along the water. He lives for his work and doesn’t waste much time on anything else. For years that’s the way he liked it. That all changes when Chloe comes back.
Chloe Beaumont left Belle Grove years ago. As a full-time novelist, she spends her days writing romance and living in a make-believe world. Romance is for her characters, not for real-life. When her uncle suddenly disappears, Chloe returns to Belle Grove to find him. As much as things have changed in Belle Grove, they’ve also stayed the same.
Chloe never thought she’d have to spend time with Grant Kenner again. He was one of the reasons she left the small town in the first place. But Grant may be the only person who can help her unravel the deceit, blackmail, and revenge along the bayou. Without his support, Chloe could be lost on the bayou in more ways than one.
Rose Pressey Betancourt is a USA Today Bestselling author. She enjoys writing quirky and fun novels with a paranormal twist. The paranormal has always captured her interest. The thought of finding answers to the unexplained fascinates her.
When she's not writing quirky and fun mysteries, she loves eating cupcakes with sprinkles, reading, spending time with family, and listening to oldies from the fifties.
Rose lives in the beautiful commonwealth of Kentucky.
Rose Pressey did it again with Lost on the Bayou. But this books has a bit of a different flavor to it. There is no paranormal events going on which surprised me because I really love Rose’s paranormal books, but I loved it just the same. The story moves very quickly and I really liked how she switched between Chloe and Grant in telling the story. You, as the reader, are given a better look at what each character is thinking and not just seeing things from one character’s point of view. Sometimes this method doesn’t work well but it works great in this story. What the best part is that it is a different type of mystery story and one that keeps you guessing.
This romance read like a romance writers checklist. As I was reading I felt like everything was happening to fulfill and formula requirement. A lot of the interaction between the characters did not feel natural. The concept was good, I just wish there had been more originality between the character interactions.
Absolutely loved how this book was written!!! I love how it continues with the story but each chapter is from the perspective of one of the characters. I totally look forward to more books like this one from Rose!! She is an amazing author!!
I enjoyed this quick little story. I always get so happy when I read about rekindled love. Even though there was tons of info in a short story...it worked. And I am particularly fond of each chapter having been written in both Grant and Chloe's views. :)
