Josie Scott swore off men after one too many heartbreaks, perfectly content with her camera, her career, and a nice bottle of red wine. But when a broken elevator traps her with Toronto’s hottest hockey player, Wyatt Boone, what starts as a little flirtation turns into a steamy romance.
Wyatt Boone is left doubting his future on the team after a season-ending injury and the pressure to win another Cup Championship bigger than ever. Being a star hockey player isn’t as glamorous as it seems with constant paparazzi and women seeking fame, so meeting Josie Scott in the broken elevator might just be the unexpected twist he needs.
With the media and fame threatening their relationship, Josie and Wyatt have to decide what's their fear of falling for each other or letting outside forces tear them apart.
This was a nice sports romance debut!!! It was free of either drama or angst, a safe read, with a few emotional scenes. I liked all the characters and the found family element was wonderfully executed.
2⭐️ this was just… plain, it had little plot whatsoever, but it wasn’t necessarily bad, it just lacks in a lot of aspects.
there’s plot lines that are just not well discussed ???(kinda spoiler) but, josie was a dv victim and it’s just thrown out there out of nowhere and not discussed or talked about as profoundly as i’d hoped i guess (?? same as her injury (although a little more) and wyatt’s backstory. ——> everything in regards to that, feels like they were created through a bullet point list, in order to simply add things to a character, instead of adding it as something to give them background, and depth, and to get to understand how they really are and behave, because it’s not well developed. that feeling for me, is something books shouldn't achieve, because it makes you disconnect from the story and it makes stuff feel like a filler.
also, there’s a lot of characters around all the time, that are just there for the sake of using them as future main characters in the next books, that don’t add anything to the story. there’s wayyyyy too many scenes with them that just feel childish and wattpadish.
did i hate this? no did i looooove this? nope would i read this again? absolutely not did i like the characters? yes, wyatt (and maybe mateo)
would i recommend this? not really, if you don’t like the sort of thing i mentioned, but, if you’re just looking for a book with hockey vibes and cute main characters go for it
i wanted to like this more because the author seems so sweet! and in no way i wanna discourage her and her work, since i believe there’s so much room for improvement, and also this is her first published novel, which makes me think the next ones are gonna be much better, hopefully.
(am i interested in continuing the series? only here for landon and lydia🤞🏼)
sometimes you just need a cute, fluffy read to make your week better. that’s exactly what this book was. it had minimal drama and golden retriever characters all around.
while certain plotlines and characters could have been developed a little more, i still enjoyed this and will be tuning in for book two
DNF Lil Rebel? Ugh. The nickname doesn’t even make sense. Was this written by a 13 year old? You can just tell the author lacks some experience, or at least some imagination. Bad writing, no character depth, ick after ick after ick. Editing errors everywhere. Just not worth my time.
This was a good read, but lacked any plot twists or really anything that made me want to stay up all night reading (aka no fights or drama). Was a very cute story line, just too perfect of a love story for me.
the way i absolutely at this up. live laugh love wyatt and mateo. also, the dynamic between the brothers is so cute, i love their little trio (and evelyn ofc).
3✨ Wyatt and Josie are so cute!! I’ve felt myself slipping into a slump so I stuck classic with a romance and wasn’t disappointed. It’s always refreshing to read a couple that doesn’t experience a late book breakup or dramatic conflict, but overall there wasn’t really going on for the couple once they actually started dating. I would’ve liked to see more development on Josie’s struggle with her father’s death and Wyatt with his father leaving so young, but I think that also would’ve made the book longer than it needed to be.
give me a hockey romance and i’m gonna read it in a few hours every. time. although must say this wasn’t great but it redeemed a star because the ending was cute. the grammar in the beginning was atrocious this felt like a wattpad book. wouldn’t recommend but like wasn’t terrible. solid meh/five⭐️’s
Terrible book. The story is so unrealistic i feel like everything happened in less than a month. I thought it was going to be a PG book until the steamy scenes started and those were hot. Otherwise the book was a total waste of my time, I litterally skimmed through it
As a dark romance girlie this was a cute fluff read . At times it was losing me because it’s just a book of pure love , not really any drama or anything happening to per se keep you on the edge of your seat .
It’s just a cute hockey read of two people finding themselves within one another and I’m actually excited to read the books for the rest of the friend group especially next book being Trevor and Tasha .
Side note I always love a good comfort humorous character and Mateo is def the one whew I was simping just a pinch then remembered he’s just a baby lol .
This was so sweet and wholesome and fluffy and just so damn good!
Wyatt is the biggest green flag, he's such an angel of a man. His and Josie's relationship was so lovely to see unfold without any drama or angst or heartbreak. (Don't get me wrong, I LOVEEE me some angst but I didn't feel like I needed it in this book)
I just adored this so much! It was an easy read that got me out of a mini slump. I have no complaints!
(Also yeah, it definitely had some grammatical errors that were missed in the editing stage but it didn't take away anything from the book, in my opinion.)
⛸️ Hockey romance ⛸️ Close proximity ⛸️ Love at first sight ⛸️ Dual POV ⛸️ Golden retriever MMC ⛸️ Slow burn ⛸️ Bad ass/super supportive girl gang
I am in my #hockeyera and with her debut indie novel, Kenadee delivered the heat 🔥
Wyatt Boone was the perfect balance between cinnamon roll/golden retriever with a dirty side and we love that 😈
Josie Scott was stubborn, stubborn, STUBBORN but after countless relationshits (no, that is not a spelling error) she finds herself yielding to one hockey captain hard and fast.
While I don’t typically immediately reach for “slow burn” romances (the spice hit around 60% in this novel), I loved how quickly the budding relationship between the two MCs bloomed proving there truly is no set amount of time to fall in love.
I adored this book, it was the perfect hockey romance 🥰 I’m pretty sure I swooned over every page. The chemistry between them is electric, and I loved how their relationship felt both steamy and deeply emotional. They were perfect for each other.
Josie is such a relatable character—strong, independent, and determined to protect her heart after a string of heartbreaks, but at the same time, you can see her vulnerability as she slowly lets Wyatt in.
Wyatt, on the other hand, is more than just a typical star athlete. His struggles with his career after an injury and watching him find solace and a real connection with Josie made the romance feel so much more genuine. He’s got that perfect blend of strength and sweetness, which made it impossible not to root for him.
As their relationship progresses we’ve got the added intrusion of the media and the pressures that come with Wyatt’s fame. That part had a little bit of angst but it was soon resolved and he was so deserving of Josie 🩷 I was rooting for their happy ending throughout this book.
There is no third act breakup ❤️
This book has it all—sizzling romance, emotional depth, and characters you can’t help but fall in love with, add in a sports romance and you’ve the perfect book.
✨ I received this book in exchange for an honest review ✨
I love a good Hockey book and this did not let me down!! Wyatt and Josie meet while trapped overnight in an elevator.
Wyatt loaned Josie his shirt which she brings him at the rink. Then asks her out on a date. They start to build their relationship from their. There is something about a dirty mouth hockey boy that gets me every time!
But will the pressure of being. A hockey girl be too much for Josie?
I am excited to see if the books involve the girl circle because I love the bro-mance and girl chat!! They both made me want to see more of them!
I didn’t see it working between the two of them. They seem a bit unreal at times and I feel like they were becoming a bit toxic towards the end… and everything happened so fast, like in two weeks
It wasn’t very bad and it wasn’t good either. It was just meh. Mild. There’s is absolutely nothing I would remember this for. And I have no idea why I kept on reading.
