No matter how hard Dahlia fights to forget her past, that’s all her small town thinks of when they look at her. Even though it’s been six years since it came out that her boyfriend had a girlfriend out of town, people still look at with pitying eyes and whispered gossip. Owning Dreaming of Dahlias, the flower shop in town, and making something of herself hasn’t been enough for the town to get past her betrayal. But that’s a small town for you. Everybody knows everything. And when an out-of-town cowboy buys a rundown ranch, the rumors fly about who he is and what he’s doing in their town. It isn’t until the ranch becomes a popular wedding venue that Dahlia meets this mysterious cowboy and finds that perhaps all men aren’t like her ex-boyfriend.
Hunter Haynes isn’t the man he was when he left home. After two tours in the army, he came home to find nothing had changed. Everything was exactly as it had always been. Except him, and he didn’t know how to fit anymore. Finding a piece of solace for himself, he buys a ranch in solitude and turns it into a wedding venue, creating a profiting business. He never expects the independent and curvy florist to be the thing he’s been missing in his life. A year has passed since he left in the middle of the night with no contact with his family. And when he finally makes the call to let them know he is safe, his world and all his plans for the future will implode.
Will their love survive the trials of past relationships and family secrets?
Lacy Chantell is a new upcoming author. She resides in Kentucky and owns a small business. She is a mom of two toddlers and lives on the family farm with her husband. She loves to read all genres, ride her horses, hiking, pretty much anything outdoors. Inspiration hits her everywhere she goes for new book ideas and she is excited keep telling stories for others to enjoy. Romance and Fantasy are her favorite genres to write, and she loves to put her characters through hell for them to get their happy ending in the end.
This wasn’t bad, but I thought there was too much going on.
I loved the dedication at the front of this book!
First, I love Hunter and Dahlia. And it was lovely to see some amputee-recognition in the form of a main character.
I don’t feel like the ‘secret child’ trope added anything to the story, the story would have been fine without that.
The third act breakup didn’t feel believable at all. Dahlia is made out to be a strong, level headed person, and then she goes and acts like that? It didn’t fit with how her character had been developed, and it just had me rolling my eyes.
Having two road traffic collisions felt too coincidental, and I felt like tension could have been added via a different means.
I felt like Graves was mentioned so much, but nothing was given away about him, at the same time. No explanation was given as to whether he was receiving the voicemails, and I think that needs some more development.
I’d still recommend this book, but I think I’ve read better books by this author.
A book I didn’t even know I needed until i picked it up. This book was a whirlwind of emotions for me but I absolutely loved Dahlia and Hunters story and I really feel this needs to be a series cause I feel like so much was left unanswered and I need more. I loved the setting and now I want to go visit Wyoming!!! This is my first book by this author and I can’t wait to read more by this author. If you need a book that is a feel good and will make you cry and even laugh at parts then you need to go get this book!!! Highly recommended!!!
I liked it. Didn’t love; didn’t hate it! Lots of unexpected turns and what not in it. I wonder if it was written in first person with dual POV if we could have connected more with the characters and their feelings for each other! I felt like Graves was such a big part of the book but yet didn’t find anything out about him. I’m assuming he will be apart of the next one though. Which I’ll read because I want to know where he went and what he’s been doing!

I was lucky enough to get this book as an arc read and I absolutely loved it!
If you need a good strong cowboy who is also dealing with his own issues to come in and capture the strong female character who is also having her own problems.. then you will fall in love with this book and hunter and delilah.
It is a slow burn but the burn it worth it in the end. They will take you through a journey that will heal them but also could heal a little part of you as well.
I was selected as an ARC reader for this book and my honest opinion. What I enjoy about his author’s writing is that she creates very visual scenes that bring it to life. Her characters are believable and relatable to those in tense situations. Dahlia is an independent woman with dreams and creative ideas. Hunter is a slightly hardened man by his post-military career and experiences. Zip, his service dog, adds just a little ‘zip’ to the story by being protective and having a keen awareness to Hunter. The family dynamics provide a few twists that made me keep reading and having those ‘Whoa!’ moments. Overall, I enjoyed this book and the relationship with Hunter and Dahlia.
The MMC Hunter is a recluse who has converted an old range into a top wedding destination. The FMC Dahlia is the florist of the small town who looks after everyone else’s happily ever after but never her own.
The main characters were decent and together they were cute. My biggest issue with this book was the writing.
I generally prefer dual POV but I have read single POV and can get in to it after a few chapters so I kept at this book. However, single POV needs to be written well if that’s the case and this wasn’t. The jump from one persons POV and conversation to another would be in the same paragraph and the next sentence. It got very confusing working out who was talking and the constant jumps. There was also a lot of repetition of the same scenes via both characters.
The plot wasn’t strong in my opinion, it felt like who many scenarios and ‘plots’ can we throw into one book, it felt cheesy and amateur and totally random. There was also a lot that happened in a fairly short book with no real character development or back story. It was more like ‘plot points’ thrown in rather than working on the characters themselves.
I tried to like this book but I really just couldn’t get past how amateur the writing was.
I was lucky to receive this book as an arc but I would have DNF’d had I not and I am not currently looking to read anymore books by this author just now.
Ever since I ran across Lacy Chantell on TikTok I have been obsessed with her books! Something about a man in a cowboy hat that I can’t say no to! Her newest book Dreaming of Dahlias does not disappoint! Lots of SPICE! Not the kind that makes you cringe but the kind that makes you ready to read more! Hunter is such a heart breaking character and the fact that he found his home with Dahlia is just sigh worthy! So many heart felt speeches that would make any girl swoon. There are so many twists and turns. Just when I thought everything was solved BOOM another twist! This book kept me on the edge of my seat and I could not put it down!!! I basically read it in one day and now I’m sad that it’s over!! We heard a lot about Dahlia’s brother Graves but we didn’t get any resolution. Which I’m hoping means we get his story next!!!!! I highly recommend Dreaming of Dahlias! Minor warning: there’s lots of spice, some ptsd moments, and some moments that are not meant for younger audiences.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️
For this one I’ll try to keep it short and sweet, so I don’t give away any details.
I love an independent, stubborn ass FMC. Dahlia is that. She isn’t a badass, but she handles her shit.
A mystery man that’s also handsome as fuck. Sign me up.
Forced proximity. Angst. Tension. Yes yes and yes.
All with a super sweet HEA at the end.
What I did not enjoy, and the ONLY thing I did not enjoy was the “dual POV”. There were no definitive breaks between one character and the next. You would be with one character one second and the very next paragraph would swap to the other, and then back again. It was very confusing at times. I just wish that had been carved out more.
Other than that, I ate this up and would still recommend to someone.
First: it was really nice to read that the MFC is on the curvy side. I’ve always been a petite girl but since becoming a mom of 4 and my body changing it was really nice to read about a woman embracing who she is and having her partner scowl her when she’d critic about being heavy.
Second: Hunter Haynes😍😍 He absolutely gave me Yellowstone Rip Wheeler vibes of protection and love but Kayce Dutton features. I love that he’s a veteran with a different form of PTSD from war that isn’t violence when he spirals.
Third: the relationship & love between Hunter & Dahlia in my opinion is what every girl dreams of. Protective cinnamon roll to a girl who’s so used of having her walls up that when she finally is able to let them down it’s foreign to her and she has to remind herself that he’s her safe space. He’s not like the others and she is 100% able to be vulnerable with him as he is able to be with her.

The Curston Ranch series is my favorite cowboy romance series, so it's no surprise that I absolutely love this book as well. Having this book take place in the same town and seeing familiar characters was great.. but Dreaming of Dahlias is different and so special on its own. Dahlia is certainly a force to be reckoned with. She's fierce and so resilient. Hunter is more than the reclusive, disabled veteran hiding himself in the mountains with his dog, Zip. Both main characters have been through the ringer and face even more obstacles together. Along with the pain, there were beautiful, heartfelt moments that had my eyes watering. They deserve the best life has to offer. I hope we see more of her brothers because I kind of need Graves' story.
Oh my goodness!! I loved this book so much! I’m absolutely in love with these two. I enjoyed getting to know Hunter and seeing from his perspective a little bit more. It was fun to see how he saw Dahalia and how he viewed life. Getting to see a veteran who lost something was so powerful and sweet because not many people take the time to hear those stories beyond the crazy war story.
Dahalia is one of the strongest women in the Chantellverse. The women Lacy writes have so much to overcome but they get to do it with so much grace and knowing they are not alone.
There are new parent relationships to love, hate, and connect with.
It was so fun to get to see Marni and Tonya again. This was such a good book!! I can’t wait to read what comes next in this series!
ღ BOOK REVIEW ღ 𝐃𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐚𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐬 By Lacy Chantell
𝑻𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔~
I picked this up as a book rec looking for a book with a flower in the title. I really enjoyed the line up for the book listed here ⬇️⬇️
•small town •western •cowboy •disability rep •ex military •service animal •secret child •ex drama •service animal
So I did enjoy the characters but there was so many things going on I felt like they just couldn’t win. The book could have used some additional editing. Overall if you are ok with single pov and a sweet reclusive cowboy and his service companion you might enjoy Dahlia and Hunter. I hope that we get more on her brother since he seemed to be a big part of this story but never makes an appearance.
Dreaming of Dahlias is the perfect small town cowboy romance! There was so much detail in this book it was like every scene you could easily picture.
Dahlia is the owner of the local flower shop amd has poured her whole heart into making it successful. Hunter is a recluse who changes an old farm into a wedding venue. Who better to work with to bring in more business for each other. Dahlia and Hunter have gone through a lot, but keep pushing through.
Lacy Chantell does an amazing job with portraying the MCs and the side characters as well! These MCs have some twists and turns that keep you in your toes!
Lacy has done it again I say this with every one of her books but Hunter and Dahlia are my new favorite Lacy couple!!!
Dahlia a curvy FMC has been through so much but has such a heart of gold and the trials she has been through have made her so strong and confident!
Hunter the veteran has been through hell and back with so many curve balls thrown his way and he is still such a gentleman and wants what best for so many others.
When these 2 come together they have such a chemistry that makes you wanting so much more! They go through so many things together as a couple and are still so strong together and their support for one another is amazing!
This was a different pace of book for me i normally read dark romance so this book was different but such a good book !! It was a slow burn but the spice and ending was so good in this book !!
I loved reading hunter and dahlia’s story and their journeys they went on!! Hunter being a veteran from the military and having ptsd really hits with the book and is very relatable! Dahlia being a strong and curvy independent woman!!
I loved this book with all the different turns and twist and loved how relatable the characters and story is!! Highly recommended
I loved the suspense elements that are weaved throughout the book. It has cute cameos from prior characters. It had some hot and steamy scenes. It had a beautiful representation of mental health and how two broken people can come together and heal each other. I absolutely adored Dahlia’s parents too. A beautiful story of hope, love, and redemption. Of creating a new story for yourself with a happy ending!!
Hunter takes on the project of converting a run down ranch into a wedding venue, while struggling to integrate back into civilian life after the military. Dahlia struggles running a small florist shop while staying in her small town when her cheating ex moves to town, and making a name for herself. Some of the favorite characters from the Curston Ranch Series make an appearance. Overall another great read for me from Lacy Chantell.
I don’t even know where to begin with this book! I always love a book with someone who has military background because my family is very full of military members. Add everything else this book had and I was in love. I cried which hasn’t happened because of a book in a long time! This just adds to my theory that she does not write anything other than amazing stories 💕
I absolutely loved this book, I think we all sided with Hunter…..or maybe it’s just me. I loved the chemistry between the two MCs and how they just…overcame every obstacle together and weathered the storm Everytime, even if it meant heartbreaks and triumph.
This book pulled at my heartstrings and I am so happy I was chosen to read it!💜
This book brings ALL the emotions. Pain and sorrow, sadness and joy, and you really never know which is coming next. There is suspense with twists and turns to keep the romance interesting. Spice to keep things fun and of course an HEA.
📚 Military Veteran MMC 💐 Curvy FMC 📚 Forced Proximity 💐 Wedding Florist 📚 Jealous Ex’s 💐 Small Town 📚 Crossover Standalone
Definitely my favorite book from Lacy so far! I wasn’t expecting all the twist and turns but that’s what made me love it more and more with each chapter! I wasn’t expecting hooked from the very first chapter! I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did!
I need more! I could not put this book down! There was so many twists and turns! You never knew what was going to happen next! The love Dahlia and Hunter share is what everyone looks for in love! I'm obsessed!
I've adored Lacy's stories from the start but this is my favorite so far. Imperfect people who fit together perfectly. I haven't read a book that's similar to this plot and that makes it even better! P.s. I want a Zip!
This book had me on the edge of my seat and desperate for more at every turn! It's so beautiful and heartwarming, but also heartbreaking, followed by more heartwarming moments. The epitome of love, strength, resilience, and courage.
I went to read this on a lunch break and suddenly I was crying at work. This book was a roller coaster of emotions and I appreciated every second of it!
Hunter and Dahlia story is cute. She’s a flower shop owner. He’s a ranch owner. Each one fighting their own battle. They start working together and they slowly start something.
