To start my review, I'll send a thanks to the author, Muraly Srinarayanathas, the publisher, Forbes Books, and Goodreads for the privilege of winning a digital copy of Between Borders, Beyond Boundaries: Strategies for Authentic Business Engagement in an Interconnected World in a giveaway. I will share my review to Amazon and Barnes & Noble as well.
This memoir/self-help/inspirational book is focused on the author sharing their personal anecdotes, motivational thoughts and opinions, and tips for business skills like networking, speaking, being open to new and unique ideas, and thinking outside of the box. Srinarayanathas employs a method called EIA, "embed, interpret, and act." The first step involves embedding yourself in possibility and in what Eugene Debs called "... the great throbbing world that reaches out in all directions." Once we open ourselves up, we can have an analytical approach to the information gathered. In this step, it's important to ask yourself questions and think deeply about your approach to different situations. Once you've thought, you use that data to act with your best adaptation in order to become a more well-rounded person. These are all great tips for anyone, I think. There is then a section on marketing in both local and global capacities and information on consumer sentiment.
There are other sections on thinking more globally in a business sense and the author uses some examples of global organizations in order to express how this can be beneficial. This would be a great book for those looking to improve their practice of diversity and inclusion practices in the worldplace, in business, and those looking for new and fresh ways to think about their business. There are also lots of quotes that have a deeper meaning and cause you to think more about how you approach your own path in life. The book also includes some pictures from the author's experiences to give a visual representation along with the stories. Thanks again!
Between Borders, Beyond Boundaries is a book about making real and honest relationships in business when working with people from different cultures. Muraly Srinarayana thas shares many stories from his own life and career. He shows that business is not only about smart plans or strong numbers. It is also about people, trust, respect, and listening to each other. The book has many personal stories and clear tips that are easy to follow. One part I really liked was when he talked about slowing down and taking time to learn about a person’s background before starting to work together. This made me think of a project I had with a team in another country. At the beginning, we could not understand each other’s way of working. There were small mistakes and delays. But during coffee breaks and friendly talks, we learned more about each other’s culture. We began to trust each other, and after that, the work became much easier and faster. Muraly explains that even if the world feels more connected today, real understanding does not happen by itself. People from different cultures may see things in very different ways. To work well together, we need patience, curiosity, and kindness. He says we should ask questions, listen carefully, and try to see the situation from the other person’s point of view. I liked the writing style because it is friendly and simple. It does not use too many difficult business words. Reading the book feels like talking to a friend who wants to share advice from real experiences. I think this book is helpful for anyone who works with people from other countries, not only in business but also in education or community work. It made me want to listen more, understand more, and build trust first, knowing that good results will come after.

Cultural intelligence is something very relevant for companies, especially for global businesses. I really like the method they present to us called "EIA" which really consists of 'Embed, Interpret, Act'. I consider it a very important method. The author makes this methodology very clear to us, since he presents his story as an immigrant and businessman, and this is much more valuable and generates a lot of value for the book. In addition to this, this book is full of anecdotes and advice that create value for the book. I highly recommend this read for those who want to have a pleasant time having a reading full of value and good times.
I'm addicted to business and success stories and that's why I picked up this book almost instantly. International business as the basis of the discussion makes it very appealing for the reader to get into this very interesting panorama and all through the EIA method, which I had never heard of but which I think is spectacular. What I can highlight the most about this work is clearly the story that the author brings us, because it makes you understand that every success brings behind a tangled and complex situation, something that works as a key foundation for that success that clearly reflects the author.
I expected a business book and got something much more: a deeply personal and motivating journey of resilience. Muraly’s story as an immigrant navigating global business is powerful and honest. His reflections on identity, belonging, and cultural adaptability made me reflect on my own path as a first-generation entrepreneur. It was refreshing to see someone weave business advice with real human experience. This is the kind of book that stays with you—not just for what it teaches, but for how it makes you feel about where you come from and where you're going.
I love these types of books where international business is explored with a commitment to include case studies that allow the reader to not only keep the information but have a plan of action or useful tools to implement in their business.
I think everyone should read this book as it has some particularities that make it different as its holistic approach that analyzes from business strategy, through personal growth and even a global cultural study. I recommend you 100% to read this book!
As a grad student studying international business, I found Between Borders, Beyond Boundaries to be incredibly insightful. It’s written in a way that’s accessible without dumbing things down. The case studies and practical examples make it easier to grasp the big-picture concepts. I especially appreciated the parts about balancing global trends with local preferences; it’s something we learn in class but rarely see illustrated this clearly. I’ll definitely be referencing this book in my research and recommending it to classmates.
What really stood out to me in this book was the EIA method—Embed, Interpret, Act. It’s an actionable framework that made me rethink how I approach international collaboration. As someone working in a multicultural team, I found these strategies both practical and empowering. Srinarayanathas doesn’t preach theory; he backs it with real-world examples that are easy to relate to and apply. I’ve already shared parts of this with my team, and it sparked a fantastic discussion. For me, this book is more than a business tool, it’s a mindset shift
This book challenged how I define success in international business. Instead of focusing on expansion and dominance, Srinarayanathas talks about respect, integration, and mutual growth. That perspective really resonated with me. It’s rare to find a business leader who values authenticity over ego, and this book reflects that philosophy throughout. The writing is thoughtful, the insights are mature, and the tone is refreshingly grounded. I finished it feeling hopeful, not just about business, but about the kind of global world we could help build.
This book is a must-read for anyone who works across cultures. I’ve struggled in the past with understanding how to truly connect with teams in different countries, and this book opened my eyes. The emphasis on listening to local voices and acting with cultural intelligence is something global companies often miss. Srinarayanathas’s examples are grounded in lived experience, not theory, which makes the lessons so much more credible. It’s rare to find a business book that prioritizes empathy without losing sight of strategy, but this one does it beautifully.
While I did enjoy this read, I assumed this was going to be more of a guide. I do very much appreciate the personal examples given and the well thought-out explanations, I think I was expecting just a little more on how to be successful in the business world. It's very hard to balance between the personal journey and the how-to and Srinarayanathas nearly achieved it. It was really nice hearing about his success and I will take some of his how-to's with me to be successful in the world.
If you’re thinking of getting a business degree, I highly suggest reading this. It gives you insight into one man’s experience and a bit of insight into different parts of businesses. That said, I was very much not the target audience. I ended up skimming quite a few chapters that were life story because I wanted to get to the advice sections of each chapter.
This book took a big place in my heart. Not even in my college career had I learned as much as this book taught me. What I liked most is that this guide offers strategies for navigating diverse markets such as cultural sensitivity, adaptation as keys to innovation and leadership in an interconnected world. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in these topics. Great reading!
This book made me realize how important it is to truly understand people when doing business in other countries. It is not just about making deals or growing fast, it is about connecting with others through respect and empathy. I liked how the author shared real experiences that show the power of being open and authentic. It is a simple but strong reminder that good leadership starts with understanding and appreciating different cultures.
This book is a great tool for any entrepreneur/business seeking to expand internationally. The method of embedding, interpreting, and acting is very eye-opening and could really skyrocket any business. But the steps have to be followed. I got a lot out of the different case studies where we could actually see the method in practice. The value of listening to local markets cannot be understated. Excellent book.
Between Borders is a read with one of the strongest points being the case studies, which illustrate the EIA method applied in real scenarios. It shows how the combination of global trends with local preferences can translate into sustainable growth. It is recommended reading for entrepreneurs, executives and students who aspire to lead with purpose in global environments.
Between Borders, Beyond Boundaries is a thoughtful and uplifting guide for anyone interested in making a meaningful impact in today’s interconnected business world.
