I can't believe how Janet is being blamed for getting angry, when the way her father, the hero and his dad did what they did in such a scandalous way.
Her dad told the hero to get the heroine to fall in love with him, so he could get her job.

Yeah it turned out okay but the intent in the first place was wrong, she should of been angrier. Getting the heroine to fall in love with him was just a business deal, then at the end they made it seem as though, her dad, the hero and his dad always had good intentions towards her.

I did not like this hero at all, the author put that ending like that to make excuses for the heroes true intent. I didn't like the hero because he was willing to prostitute his self and hurt a girl who didn't even know, for a company.

but I have to say for a girl who just had her heart broken she sure jumped in bed with hero pretty quickly, in-spite of that I still don't understand all the anger towards the heroine, no one is angry that the hero set out to use her and hurt her.

Oh, dear... The curse of the free ebooks strikes again. First, I was totally ignorant of what BWWM meant (been a long damned time since I've read the CL personals for fun, I guess). This is a thing? Mkay. Maybe I'll learn something. Or not. Thought there might be some cultural eye openers here because the last time I read something by a black author, it felt like she was stuck in the '50s (uptight, prudish character, determined the only man to possess her physically had to be "the one.") I was hoping that wasn't a thing like big hats and church. Well, maybe kinda...

Here, the heroine doesn't have as big a stick up her arse (excepting her self-imposed celibate period) but she had lots of other weirdly traditional expectations. I mean... Who gets her Masters so she can find Mr. Wonderful and have babies? Honestly, this was the most schizophrenic character I've ever seen. She's upset with her friend for sticking with an abusive cheater, yet she's encouraging her own cheating stalker of an ex because the attention "thrills" her. Every time her inner dialogue tells her to back off from this new Eric dude, she's locking lips with him seconds later. She heads off to Fiji, having told no one where she's going, finds Eric on her bed when she arrives, and does she recognize this as another guy with controlling, potentially abusive, stalkerish tendencies? Nope. She smirks and unpacks her bag. She declares later she's calling for a separate room and he essentially rapes her, so does she get upset? Nope, she moons about how well they fit. Puhleeze.

The fact Eric has been hired to work with her, seduce her, and ultimately replace her as part of a merger would, you'd think, be a major plot issue. Nope. She finds out about this betrayal and is angry for all of 12 seconds with the parties involved.

Honestly, the sex scenes are so brief, the work details so sketchy, and the story jumps ahead in time so much and so often, I find myself wondering where the story went. No serious typo issues (aside from confusion between peek and peak), but the story itself wasn't terribly substantial or neatly woven. It's pretty much "Poor little rich girl has everything handed to her by men who know better. The end." The BWWM business? Kind of a tiny side note. No real insight there, except black ladies apparently call each other "girl" a lot.

One of the biggest things I liked about this book was that although, it was a short read, the relationship was believable. In so many novellas I read, I feel like the hero and heroine's connection is forced and unnatural. Janet and Eric were good together. There was no instantaneous love connection, which in my opinion is a plus and Janet made Eric work for her affection. Janet was a strong heroine that had a good head on her shoulders and she was no pushover. She wasn't going to give Eric her all if he wasn't worthy. I also liked how Eric wasn't willing to back down, even when Janet pushed him away. I do wish that Eric did have some kind of dubious intent where Janet was concerned because in the beginning of the book, that's the impression I got and I love to see my characters sweat it out. What can I say, I'm an evil reader.

The book was good. A good combination of romance and suspense. I wonder what the future holds for Eric and Janet.

While this book wasn't to my tastes, I recognize that it's a nice-plotted love story. If you like sweet women finding their dreams with a more dominant man, you'll enjoy this book.

This book read as if the author herself couldn't really keep track of the action from chapter to chapter. We get big disclosures (Janet's dad hired Eric and told him to make her fall in love with him, complete with a strict time limit) that are undercut. Janet can't keep her feelings straight from chapter to chapter and the subplot with Liz's boyfriend is so ridiculous. There's a rush of revelations in the last chapter and the whole thing feels very unsatisfying.

The past needs to let go

Janet has just left a sleeezeball and is going to stay away from any sexual activity for a while...or so she hopes. She meets her new partner Eric and he is gorgeous. She blushes just looking at him. And he wants her too.

Eric is as hired by her father to take over the company she has worked hard for. He is supposed to romance her and marry her. What he didn't count on was falling for her at first glance.

But then her ex keeps breaking into her apartment and wants her back. How far will he go?? What will her reaction be when she learns the truth about Eric??

It was OK. Seemed to be a bit rushed, like more could have been added throughout the story the make it better. I actually started reading and stopped several times and made myself finish.
