When Leila Montgomery finds out Whitmore and Creighton's newest client has attempted suicide, it shakes her--but not as much as Jacob's cold reaction to the young starlet's actions.
When he opens up about his past, Leila will discover a new layer to the pain that haunts the man she loves...
The Billionaire's Past is part ten of the best-selling His Submissive series.
Ava Claire is a sucker for Alpha males and happily ever afters. When not putting pen to paper or glued to her Kindle, Ava likes road tripping, karaoke, and vintage fashion.
I have to be honest I almost gave this part of the series 4 stars because I feel they spent way too much time on Mia, the new client. The first part of this book centers alot around their new client Mia, I am still not really clear what significance she has on their story, what she will add???? Yes this new storyline brings Leila into Mia's life, brings some tough subjects up, allows co-workers to finally start to see Leila as the educated woman she is but it still seems strange to me. Jacob's mother comes to see her at her office and Leila lets her have it, hoping to finally get through to her but it appears it isn't working. I love that Leila bought something that she says is for both of them, it is too sexy and when Jacob comes home and sees it they try it out, this scene is hot. The talk Leila had with Jacob's mother did have some impact on her because later in the book when she actually calls to meet them again and they agree to meet her at a coffee shop because he doesn't want her in their home again when she has been so mean to them. She actually apologizes and wants to start fresh so the talk with Leila must have done some good. There is one things that comes out of this meeting that is just too perfect, I was so happy.
This book starts off where we left Mia Kent in the previous book. Little by little Leila is showing who is and she's starting to earn a little more respect from her co-workers earning more points by handling a problem client. But the relationship between them and Alicia is still tensed but maybe just maybe their might a tiny light at the end of the tunnel for them.
Every cover has a meaning with how the story is played out but the chair represent where and how Leila goy a heart to heart with Alicia.
Now I have only two more books till the series is over and I am not looking forward to that because I am so in love with this story and so invested that I don't want it to end. Ava Claire writing is remarkable and heartfelt that when you read this story its like being there and living it by yourself.
Another amazing addition to the story. I was glad Mia was ok, even more happy Leila is being a friend to her and not giving her special treatment, she needs a honest friend for her, so I'm glad it's Leila. I'm also glad Missy has some-what removed the stick from her ass and warmed up to Leila. Jacob was as sexy as always. I LOVED the Harry Potter/ Hermione reference. References like that always make me happy and make any story even better, in my books ;-) During the middle I was happy Alicia opened up to Leila a bit more, I was a little ticked at Leila for not giving her a chance really, but I totally understood why she wouldn't. Heck, I don't trust Alicia even after the end of this addition. I want to believe her, I want her to be in Jacob's life and in Leila's, but we shall see where the story takes us. It was amazing! Must read folks <3
Awww I just love Jacob & Leila's story! Good for Leila for speaking up for herself and proving her worth to not only her coworkers but especially to that soon to be MIL of hers! GO Leila! We got to see Leila really put in work and signed her first client and actually broke that barrier with Missy. Although I guess we shall see how long that lasts, lol! I love how Jacob & Leila continue to work at their relationship and trust each other completely! It was so nice to see just them and thank goodness no real interference especially by that home wrecker Rachel ugh! Ooohh and what a change of attitude toward the end there by the MIL woohoo! It's about damn time Alicia! Team Jacob & Leila! Loved it!
I purchased the entire series and read it as one book (to read them one by one would have seriously annoyed me). I thoroughly enjoyed the series especially the fact that the BDSM was low-key and there was a story and other characters to it (a lot of the books lately are just soft-core porn). Thank you very much for a very enjoyable book that I couldn't put down until I finished the last page, Ava. You did yourself proud. xxx
We are up to book ten and I have to say that it's nice that Jacob and Leila have grown from book one. It's realistic in as much as when you meet someone, you do tend to find out about their past and what makes them tick in snippets.
Thankfully the author finally turned all the short books into one, but in my opinion it's not worth it. Where this series could be a love filled happy book it's constant drama. I have deleted the entire series after reading with no intentions of ever reading again.
I continue to love this story. Jacob Whittmore & Leila Montgomery. Loved the ending, it's about time that Alicia came round to the idea that Jacob is his own man & old enough to know who he wants to be with. The love that Leila & Jacob share, is beautiful. They fulfil each other, compliment each other & support each other. They both know what the other needs & wants in their relationship.
It was becoming a bit much that too many people were trying to bet between them. Not sure why us as humans still believe that forcing someone to do what we want instead of what they want will work, because it never does in the end, but that makes for intense reading.
I still don't trust Alicia, she won't be winning mother of the year any time soon, but about time she gave Leila the credit she deserves. Leila makes Jacob a better man. Jacob is already fantastic but with Leila by his side she definitely completes him, it's like se was the missing piece & together they can be great.
Will have to see as there are still two more parts to this story, but hopefully there will be a wedding soon. We need more of the sensual & sexy for them, there was way too much about others that distracted us from the love story & BDSM, which is on of the reasons I started reading this story in the first place.
Argh short stories are killing me, needed more of Jacob in this part, I felt he went AWOL for a bit. But happy in the end. Can't wait for the next & when it's finished to be able to read fluidly from start to finish.
Part 10 of this "mini" series. The on going story of Leila and Jacob's relationship.
I suggest reading parts 1-9 before reading part 10 to get the full jist of the story with the emotions of the characters.
So previously Jacob popped the question, Leila said yes. However, she still doesn't have a ring because he only wants to give her his grandmother's ring. Which is in his mothers possession and she refuses to give it to him for Leila. Also W&C has a new client Mia who at the end of part 9 was hospitalized for an overdose. Part 10 picks up where we left off. Leila goes to the hospital and talks to Mia, trying to help her. Missy tells Leila about her sister, but is back to normal during the Kent meeting. We also get to learn more of the past about Jacob and his mother. They are not getting along atm but how does/will that affect J & L's current engaged relationship? Plus we get a spanking bench scene as well as an unexpected meeting with a surprise.
