Wow. i kind of liked the first book, but really, really disliked the second. Had trouble following the story. The characters annoyed me and I cared little for them. Look elsewhere for your Roman-historical fiction fix.

All about Caratacus and Rome’s Army

Full of Roman war strategy, maneuvering & the logistics of it all over capturing Caratacus. Not a lot of juicy stories going on in this book besides the king’s defeat, which was really sad to me. I got bored but read to the end.

This has turned out to be a great series. If you like Simon Scarrow or similar then you should enjoy this series. Loads of action and adventure with interesting characters.

Top notch

Once again KM Ashman presents a fantastic book, how history would have changed if we would have won ,but it forged us into the nation we ate today

Oh dear. The story line wasn't too bad if a little obvious. What really annoyed me was the grammar, I'm not sure where the blame lies here, surely an editor would have spotted the errors? Apart from odd sentences like "he jumped onto the hut of a roof" there is seemingly random and unnecessary capitalisation of nouns. Words like 'Dias', 'King", 'Gladius' and 'Shaman' all appear regularly with unnecessary capitals. He also believes the plural of shaman is shamen, it is not, it is shamans.
The above errors (and there were plenty more) spoilt my enjoyment of reading the book. That and his insistence of writing 'Advaaance' every time the order was given really annoyed me.

The second in Ashmans Roman series detailing the campaign of Caractacus and the Battle of Caer Carradog. Entertaining but not deep literature
