All a girl needs is a .38, bloodred lipstick and a hot pair of heels

Jamie Sobrato has dreamed of being a writer ever since composing her first bad poetry at the age of 8. Now that she’s seen 18 of her novels published in the US and around the world, she’s grateful for those grade school teachers who had the grace not to cringe at her early efforts. Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, Jamie now lives in Northern California, where she is at work on her next book. When she’s not writing, she is usually reading, hiking, or hanging out with her two kids.
Why do I do this to myself? Bad book all the way around.
Ellie Jameson is the daughter of a domestic terrorist who has made plans to "blow up California" (yes that is really what he is trying to do). Ellie has also served in the US Army, has extensive weapons training, teaches a self defense class, and has her cosmetology degree specializing in makeup. She's so good at makeup application that she teaches at a modeling school.
This is where the book opens. Before you know it Ellie's boss is threatening to fire her unless she blows him. Then he tries to rape her. He actually is winning the physical battle before she escapes. This is just one of those things that happens to people apparently.
That night while her cousin is trying to break into the porn industry a member of a secret government agency that assassinates US citizens on domestic soil breaks into her apartment and handcuffs her to the bed. "I'm going to lie to you and probably have sex with you." "Since I'm just here in my panties you can see that I really have a thing for you." "Yeah, I'm going to get me some of that. BTW, I am an assassin. I'm looking for your father." "Why should I help you?" "Your father is a bad man." "Oh, OK. I'll pretend that we are together as a couple in love and I'm sure my father will come out of the woodwork to protect me."
It doesn't get any better. Over the course of the next week. They have sex and fall in love for real. They aren't just pretending. It's all true.
They take down the dad but he lives.
The book ends when they are together on a mission where they are stone cold killers. Bleh.
Unlikable paper thin characters stumbling through a plot full of more holes than a sieve with a timeline that doesn't make any sense.

I found the premise of this book to be so unbelievable that it ruined the book. I have heard it described as hot but to me, the sex scenes were quick and unemotional. It was a big letdown.
