Twenty years ago, eighteen-year-old Cassandra Sanders was betrayed by her best friend and brutalized by four teenage boys in a cabin in the woods. Afterward, they burned down the cabin and left her for dead.
Today, Cassie has come back to her hometown to bury her mother and settle her estate. The boys who attacked her are now grown men with influential positions in town. They are all shocked to see she’s still alive and also scared. Will she reveal what happened all those years ago?
Aaron Jackson, her once best friend and neighbor, is now a deputy in the local sheriff’s department. He’s not surprised Cassie is alive because he alone knows how she survived the fire. But Cassie makes it clear—she wants him to leave her alone. Suddenly, the men who attacked her are dying under suspicious circumstances. Aaron begins to wonder; did Cassie come home to bury her mother, or did she have a different plan in mind? A plan for revenge and murder.
This is excellent! If this didn’t have minor editing issues this would be a five star read.
Cassie was assaulted and left for dead in a burning cabin twenty years ago. The men responsible were all spoiled rich kids who had fathers that were powerful for whatever reason. She was chosen because she was prom queen and a cheerleader, and these guys thought they “deserved” her as a reward.
These men were vile. And they start dying one by one…
KU read, but I might have to buy this one. This was really, really good.
Cassie was raped on graduation night by 4 guys. Her childhood friend, Aaron, had brought her to the cabin, not knowing what would happen. He left, not wanting to be a part of it. When they were done raping her, they poured gasoline all around and started a fire. Aaron had circled back, pulled Cassie out of the cabin, and dropped her off at a hospital in another town. Twenty years later, Cassie is back in town because her mother has died. The rapists began dying, and Cassie had visited each of them before they died. Although you know she isn't the one doing the killing, it is a real page turner to find out who is doing it. Excellent story, and I look forward to more by this author.
Good. Another thriller from this author that I honestly hope will keep on writing her stories. This one is about a girl who is raped and almost killed by four boys at the end of high schools. These guys are from influential families so she didn’t press charges. They also tried to kill her and burned the cabin where they raped her and beat her. Now she’s back because her mother died. Twenty years later. The boy who drove her to her nightmare was in love with her but when the other boys threatened him to ruin his family, he left her with them and came back just in time to save her from the fire. Now all of them have moved on and have families. The heroine doesn’t want to have anything to do with them. Suddenly all the men start to die in suspicious circumstances. I won’t spoil because it is worth reading. Once again, karma will mete out its retribution. I liked it. The story is dark, those men are all evil, even the one who saved the heroine was complicit, because he wasn’t man enough to fight for the girl life. He left her with those beasts. The heroine though, didn’t let this episode ruin her life, she moved on , she got married and is happy, even if trauma never left her. In the end everyone have what they deserve. The story is also quite short but well done, I read it in one session, burning some of my dinner. But it was worthwhile.
This is a short book but was full of intrigue from the very beginning and all the way through . Twenty years ago she didn’t want to go, but her best friend Aaron assured her that it would be ok. They were his friends that were throwing a graduation party in a cabin in the woods. But neither one of them were prepared for what happened. Now Cassandra has returned after her Mother’s death and she has to face the ones that betrayed her all those years before. Tension is rising when they see the woman that they thought they would never see again. One by one, they would have to pay. I really enjoyed this book and was very surprised at the end!
This was a definite who done it style of story. It’s funny at first I You’re following who’s the obvious all edged perpetrator. But then you get the shock of your life when you realize one of the POVs was the killer all along. It would have been interesting to know who the paternity at he end. Due to the subject matter this is definitely for 18+ for the simple fact to under stand the complexity of the triggers and gruesome deaths. I recommend this book to anyone who’s a fan of Colombo the show or Agatha Christie ,under mystery novels.
I somewhat felt bad for Aaron, he was just as scared back then. He still should of helped her before the fire.
Throughout the book you think he completely changed his life. Unfortunately it seems that what had happened all those years ago played with him mentally.
The story was definitely worth the time. I was interested from the start, but all the twists and turns were perfect. You never knew what was going to happen next.
This was basically promising young woman with a twist!! I’m so glad we never saw her brutalized and we never had to see any flashbacks from her POV. It was a quick read and very riveting.
Omg Aaron you tricked me!! Sneaky character!! I thought he’ll get away with everything cause he was just the watcher and I thought it’ll end like that and I’ll be mad but nope 🙂↔️🙂↔️ my jaw was on the floor!!
