Silence #2
Silence Volume 2
An exhilarating manga following the journey taken by a boy and his migrating village across a frigid post-apocalyptic setting riddled with folkloric monsters
There once was a land where humans and monsters both lived. The sun protected the humans during the day, but at night the monsters were on the prowl. On the day that the sun disappeared forever behind the clouds, the terrifying monsters, no longer warded off by the sunlight, hunted the humans in the day and the night.
For almost thirty years, Saber and his village were cut off from the rest of the world. They have no choice but to communicate with each other using sign language to avoid the monsters, who can track them by sound and especially by voice. However, the village encounters trouble when a young woman named Lune arrives in the village. She tells them that there is a better way to fight monsters—by becoming monsters themselves.
This is only the beginning of a harrowing and thrilling adventure. The villagers leave everything behind, traversing the looming mountains that surround them to find other humans who can help them. In order to escape a life devoid of peace, it is up to Lune and the villagers to summon something they have long forgotten—the courage to live.

When the children's eyes go blank, when they start foaming at the mouth, and when they listlessly wade into the riverside fog to mount some kind of demon horse whose skin is gradually peeling off . . . chances are good that one is no longer ensconced in the safety of their own home.
SILENCE v2 is a ship at sea, pitching to and fro with the faintest vision of the shoreline. Whether the storm is pulling the ship's inhabitants farther into the murky darkness, or whether the storm is thrusting the oarless vessel closer toward the rocky coast, will only be revealed when the moment reaches its utmost point of crisis.
The residents of Wolf-Tongue Church continue their journey through wind and snow on the path toward High-Fort, that apparent city of light and refuge in a world shrouded in darkness. The monsters that line the way are vicious and unforgiving, but the lady with the bells, Lune, shows no fear. Mostly. Lune fears falling asleep (and losing control of her supernatural ability), and she also fears her past catching up with her. It's no coincidence that Lune fetches her honesty when approached by the villagers about the real reason she fled High-Fort (i.e., to search for the monster cores she needs to perfect her spellcraft), only to be assailed by individuals hired by High-Fort to hunt her down for just such matters.
Saber and Spot take a backseat in SILENCE v2 to the machinations shifting behind the scenes. Lune has her own wants and needs, sure, but what about the politicians and holy figures back at High-Fort who are keen on getting in Lune's way? Do these figures of prominence and power have their own agenda? And what happens when this village of innocent bystanders trots into the picture?
The current volume introduces warriors, monks, and more — all with ties to High-Fort and all with their own relationship to the safe haven's power brokers. Passim, for example, is an experienced fighter whose even temper and broad preference for context means he never shirks his duty, yet isn't so cold-hearted as to leave innocent people behind. He's the type of character who could be either a helping hand or a purposeful foil, depending on the ethos of the conflict on the page.
But not everyone associated with High-Fort holds Passim's patience. And as readers push past giant, scaly monsters and trudge through knee-high snowbanks, one wonders how much more treacherous the journey toward peace and freedom will be, whether inside or outside the borders of this mythical save haven.

These are solidly entertaining looking forward to reading more. I think one of the reasons i enjoy it is because I cant really compare it to anything.
