Lock You Down

Rate this book
As an eternally optimistic probation officer, Azalea Davis’ sole purpose in life is to help her clients improve their lives. After leaving a bad relationship, she starts a new life in Summerville, where she has a new apartment and a brand new client list she’s eager to tackle.

On that list? Isaac Jackson, a repeat offender. He’s perpetually grumpy and lacking purpose, drive, and any hope for his future. Until he meets he meets his newest PO. His attraction is immediate, but unfortunately for him, personal relationships between a PO and her client are expressly forbidden and downright unethical.

But Isaac’s a rebel. He’s never met a rule he couldn’t break.

Isaac has been in and out of jail since he was a teenager and he vows the last time was his last time goin’ in. But, that’s easier said than done when both of your brothers are successful businessmen and the only job you can get is working for the one brother you don’t get along with. Add to that, Isaac is deep in the trenches of depression and he doesn’t know how to pull himself out. But, when his new probation officer pulls up to verify his employment, Isaac sees the light at the end of a very dark tunnel.

Azelea is Little Miss Sunshine in human form. She’s chop full of optimism, stays on ten when it comes to being positive, and she always sees the good in people even when they don’t deserve it. She truly believes she can turn all of her probationers into contributing members of society. When Azalea meets Isaac and his very grumpy disposition, she knows she has her work cut out for her but, she’s up for the challenge despite the roadblocks he keeps throwin’ up. Between her good girl positive attitude and his rough around the edges rude behavior, these two were oil and water but it worked for them. She helped him acknowledge his faults and take accountability for his actions. He taught her it was okay to cuss a bytch out every now and again and throw them paws if you have to. See?!!! They balanced each other out perfectly. I was so happy when Isaac finally got his shyt together. He moved in silence and showed everyone when he said he wasn’t goin’ back in, that’s what TF he meant. And, the epilogue was chefs kiss. 👩🏾‍🍳🤌🏾 It really had me over here chinnin’ and grinnin’. 😊😊😊😊 Lock You Down was the perfect ending to this series. I hate to see the Jackson Brothers go but, I’m keepin’ my fingers crossed the author gives us an update on these couples in the near future.

I was really interested in baby boy Jackson, and damn is he complicated. Being the youngest has to be tough, especially with all that he has experienced, and seeing how successful his brothers are. He can’t seem to get himself together enough to stay out of jail, and his brothers off his ass. He and Taurus can’t get along for ish, and it is taking a toll on the entire family with their constant fighting. This time when he gets out, he tells himself he is going to make a good effort to stay on the straight and narrow. When he sees his parole officer, he has his sights set on something entirely different.

Azelea girl….. I get being positive and all, but you were way over the top with it. Ish happens, it does. You not accepting it, and normalizing it, is making life harder for yourself. That damn sister of yours could jump into a pit of hot lava! Ughhh…. She got on my nerves so damn bad. 😤 You complain about your sister being too positive, but you are negative about every damn thang, mean as hell, and trying to be her damn momma! 🤬 Azelea was too nice to tell her where to get off, but she should have tagged ya girl in. Azelea fought the good fight, but between that pressure Isaac was putting on her, and the way he was making her feel, baby girl ain’t have a chance in the world.

I worried what would happen when they were found out, because they would be found out eventually. As we dug deeper into Isaac’s past, I was heartbroken for him, as no one realized the depth of his trauma. I’m sure because he was a young male, getting in trouble was seen as a rite of passage, something he would grow out of, and not taken seriously that there could be more at play. Had he been able to verbalize what he was feeling and thinking, Taurus’ response to him would have been much different, changing the entire trajectory of both of their lives.

Although this couple looked odd from the outside, the connection was perfect for them. Azelea gave Isaac the drive to want more in life, so that he could be the best man for her. He pushed himself, took accountability for his actions, and made moves to heal. It was beautiful to witness. Isaac was kind to her, listened to her, and treated her the way she always envisioned. He was sweet to her, but also drilled into her that life is not sunshine and rainbows all the time. That epilogue made my heart happy. I was so rooting for Isaac, and all that he received in the end was well earned. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Azalea x Isaac

Amazing read!
This entire series was so good. I just love me a grumpy man, and Isaac was the grumpiest of them all. After the loss of his father, dude could not keep it together. But now, out on probation, it’s time to turn over a new leaf... then walks in pint-sized, optimistic PO Azalea.

Grumpy-ass Isaac wanted so badly to hate her, but it was impossible. It was the attraction, the optimism, the way she believed in him, pushed him. The way he loves her, fights for her, protects her.

These characters, the family dynamics, the drama, everything felt so real. And the love? So, so real

This was a nice close to the series!

Officer Zay (Azalea) knew Isaac was irresistible and a problem from day one! And just like me, folded! lmao! What I enjoyed about his story was Isaac finally finding his way, bettering his relationship with his brothers, and finding love. Even when Roman pushed him into risking his freedom, he made smart decisions, that we haven’t seen from Isaac until now. Although Azalea was harsh in that one instance, it was necessary for the plot because that was a turning point for the better. Azalea’s realization of how she became so optimistic was necessary and her finding the balance and making up with her sister was nice to see! This book was a good grumpy/sunshine trope to close to the series and I can’t wait to see what else Shae has coming out next!

Not me in here holding in my ugly tears over Isaac! 😩. My guy went through it. Now Im not saying he couldnt change some things on his own. The author gave him ups and downs and triumphantly gave him a purpose. Watching him heal and stay focused was a beautiful thing. Watching him fall in love and navigate therapy was amazing to read. I enjoyed this third installment of the Jackson brothers series. Isaac and Azi were beautiful to read about. My favorite line in this book “ When you beam your light on us, we can’t do anything else but grow. That’s all I’ve done since I met you” Whew, come on Shae Sanders!

I am happy

This story has so many layers and a gallon jar of angst. Have you ever wanted a person to be successful, even when they aren't real? I wanted this man to find his way back to feeling less anxious about his life. I would have never guessed two dogs and a cute officer would be the catalyst for change.

This book was very interesting and different from the other books in this series. The FMC in this book really wanted to help everyone even through her ex-boyfriend was trash. I liked her relationship with the MMC. I feel like Isacc and Azalea was made to be with each other. I am just happy that Isaac stopped stressing his brothers out.

I liked this, but I didn't love it. It was too...real. The story is well-written and the character arcs are done well. I liked Azalea and Isaac and I rooted for them, but once they got together it just felt like I was eavesdropping on a couple having therapy sessions. I'm all for people becoming better and more mature versions of themselves, but when I read romance I want an escape from the mundane and this wasn't it. I want fun and flirty vibes and lots of spice. At least the ratio of fun should be higher than all the introspective character development.

Out of this series, The Replacements (the 1st in the series) is still my favorite.

This was my favorite of the series. I loved Isaac the most of the Jackson brothers. He was sensitive and had dealt with the trauma of his father's death right in front of him. He didn't handle it well, understandably, and turned to petty crime stuff some ppl do.
Azalea was sweet, but she got on my nerves a bit. She needed therapy, too. She and Isaac both learned to repress their emotions, but expressed it differently. His low-grade crime and depression. Her's was to bury stuff and try to be Sally Sunshine. (It was real interesting to learn that her parents' marriage wasn't all she made it out to be.)
Her forced naivete got to be annoying, but I liked when she bossed up a few times, especially when she thought he was cheating on her towards the end. She was tougher than ppl assumed, but avoided confrontation at most times.
That being said, they were cute together and balanced each other out.

Isaac’s glow-up was Zay-mazing LOL

I expected to be entertained by sizzling chemistry, witty banter and steamy coupling LOL and Shae gave us that alongside a wonderful journey of self-reflection, inspiration, accountability and commitment (to walk the walk!) Whew! I was proud of Isaac like he was one of MY brothers and I loved Zay from beginning to end (although i would’ve been in Mina’s camp too re: felonbae LOL). Another winner! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love me a good second-chance romance, but Book 3 of the Jackson Brother Series delivered something even deeper: a second chance at life. Isaac Jackson, the Jackson family’s black sheep, is known for his endless cycle of bad decisions and jail time. His brothers have grown used to it, and his reputation is cemented as the one who can’t seem to get it right. But this time? This time is different. Isaac walks out of prison determined to make it his last trip behind bars. He’s working at his brother Taurus’s company (even if data entry is slowly killing his spirit) and trying to keep his head down. But let’s be real — you can only fake contentment for so long before something has to change. Isaac wants more, and I was so rooting for him to get it.

Enter Azalea Davis. She’s everything Isaac isn’t — bright, perpetually optimistic, and almost annoyingly cheerful. She’s the kind of person who finds silver linings even on the rainiest days. I loved her spirit, even though sometimes I wanted to shake her and be like, “Girl, it’s okay to be mad sometimes!” 😂 Azalea is also Isaac’s probation officer, which makes things very complicated. The chemistry between them is off the charts, and that tension? Whew! I was practically fanning myself. Azalea tries to keep it professional, but Isaac’s rough edges and raw honesty start to chip away at her walls. The pull between them is undeniable, and you know it’s going to lead to trouble. (And it does, but we’ll get to that…)

Isaac has never met a rule he didn’t want to break, and his attraction to Azalea is no exception. What I loved about them is that they challenge each other — she forces him to look beyond his past mistakes, and he makes her confront the fact that life isn’t always sunshine and daisies. Their banter is electric, and I loved watching them try (and fail) to resist the connection sparking between them. Even when Azalea is fighting it with every professional bone in her body, you can tell it’s only a matter of time before she caves. Isaac’s confidence and that smirk of his? Whew, I couldn’t blame her.

Okay, I have to get this off my chest. Azalea’s sister was working my last nerve. She’s judgmental to the point of being rude, constantly side-eyeing Isaac for his past and pushing Azalea to cut him off. Look, I get the whole protective sibling thing, but this woman was out here basically trying to sabotage Azalea’s happiness out of fear and prejudice. Her whole attitude had me grinding my teeth. Like, sis, I get you want to protect your family, but chill out. Sometimes, people deserve a second chance, and she was out here acting like Isaac’s name was written in flames on a “Do Not Enter” sign. I wanted Azalea to stand up to her way sooner, but hey, better late than never!

Of course, this wouldn’t be a Jackson Brothers book without some drama. I’m not gonna lie, Azalea made a questionable choice at one point, heavily influenced by her sister. It frustrated me because I was rooting for her to fully trust Isaac and their connection, but I get it. Old habits and fears die hard. The good news is, when the dust settled, they handled it like grown-ups. No unnecessary back and forth, no petty misunderstandings — just two people who made mistakes and then talked it out. 🙌 I really appreciated the maturity with how they dealt with the fallout. It was messy, but it was real, and it showed that love is sometimes about working through the bumps, not avoiding them.

What I loved most is that Isaac’s story isn’t about just getting the girl. It’s about getting his life back. He’s always been the mess-up, the one no one could count on, but in this book, we get to see Isaac truly try. Not just for Azalea, but for himself. By the end, I was so proud of the man he was becoming — more focused, more determined, and finally understanding his own worth. That growth hit me right in the heart, and I closed the book feeling like I’d just watched a man rise from the ashes. This is what second chances are all about.

I'm guessing is the model on the book covers literally being the same person, but up until this book, my ass thought that Taurus, Victor, and Isaac were twins. WRONG

Anyway...Isaac is the youngest and "bad boy" brother of the Jacksons. It was fun to read about a Jackson brother who didn't have it all "together". Wasn't able to immediately woo his girl with his success and status. Isaac had PERSONALITY and worked that shit to the BONE to get Azalea...though I will say, she didn't put up much of a fight.

Which was really my only gripe with this book. Azalea, is a probation officer, with rose colored glasses and the brightest of perspectives on the world and everything around her, but not in TOO much of a naive way. Isaac is your typical bad boy, nothing too salacious, but he dips and dabbles in criminality and has seen the inside of a cell his fair share of times. This time, he's determined to stay out and of course he gets Azalea as his probation officer.

And IMMEDIATELY starts applying pressure. To which Azalea caves pretty quickly too. But it was cute. I loved how even though Isaac was a the "bad apple" he was still sweet, kind, caring, loving, and protective of Azalea once he realized and accepted that he WANTED her. I love that Azalea didn't hold his past and his circumstances against him.

Their love story, though on the quick side, felt authentic and natural and Lock you Down was an entertaining read. A nice palette cleanser if you're looking for one.

Lock you down

I enjoyed Isaac and Azalea’s journey to love and happily ever after. Isaac wa going through a lot mentally after losing his father as a teenager and never really figured out how to channel those thoughts and emotions until he encountered his new PO, Azalea. I loved her energy and positive light and that she always sought to see the best in things, although some times it was to her detriment. I loved that she was such a genuinely caring person and that she encouraged Isaac and made him realize he could get out of his own way and succeed and make his mama proud. I loved how protective Isaac was of Azalea and how he got her to see it was ok to admit things were not all sunshine and rainbows. This was a cute story and I would recommend this read.

The third book in the series is about Isaac the youngest brother. He’s on parole trying to make it on the outside this time. Then he meets his new parole officer - officer Azalea Davis.

The tag on this is a grumpy/sunshine romance trope. But I think it’s more like Isaac’s Momma says he’s sensitive and he hides it behind his grumpiness. Also I liked Isaac from the other two books.

Of course they fall for each other even though she can lose her job and almost does. The book is about Isaac finding himself, figuring out how to move past his issues and pursuing what gives him joy. It’s also about the deep love he develops for Azalea.

After a few things that happen they get their HEA. It was another great story in the series. Borrowed this from Kindle Unlimited.

“Listen, when you look at that Pinterest board, you see your dreams. I see my to-do list. I’ll never stop until that whole thing is reality.”

this was cute! it touched on mental health issues with the mmc! his brothers are doing well in life while he keeps messing up and going back to jail, so that contrast added a lot to his character!

i do wish there was a little more build up between isaac and azalea before they decided to try fr! it kinda felt like she saw he was fine and was head over heels from jump! i would’ve loved a bit more restraint and tension there! but i did love how once isaac realized he didn’t wanna lose her, he actually got his ish together and put in the work! 🎀

I’ve read a few grumpy/sunshine books and this one is probably my favorite because they were both hella extreme in their personalities. I think Issac became my favorite brother because his love/ intimacy was so much more than flashy shit and being that nigga! Azalea and her overly optimistic ass reminded him of the man that he could be and proved that to himself….also the book was funny as hell and Issac Solange nicknames for Mina cracked me up

This was a cute book! We’ve seen and heard so much about Isaac in the first two books, so it was great to be able to get to know him more. He is definitely a menace 😂 but he’s a sweetheart deep down.

Azalea was cool. Her toxic positivity was a lot, but it was her way of sheltering herself. She definitely needs to sit on someone’s couch, but she also means well. She and Isaac compliment each other pretty well.

Overall, a nice wrap up to this series.

Let me go ahead and add Isaac to my bookshelf

An ebook of Isaac wont do. He needs to rest on my bookshelf. This was by far my favorite book and brother of the series. I love how hilarious and imperfect he was. I equally enjoyed his -ish talking. I loved the flow of the story and enjoyed that their wasnt an excessive amount of inner dialogue. The inner dialogue that was there served a purpose in moving the story forward. Looking forward to my next Shae Sanders read.

Can there be a long lost Fourth Jackson brother?

I just ask because I really enjoyed this series. And I love this author (in my head we’re friends). Flawed but interesting characters, check. Spicy scenes that are not overdone or used to replace actual plot, check. Speaking of the plot, this author always brings something a little different but believable. Let me go ahead and preorder her next one. Well done.

OMG!!!! This is most definitely my favorite out of the series! I'm gonna miss the Jackson brothers. I love how we get to see Issac and Azalea flourish. And Issac was ALLLLLL BDE and a teddy bear in one!🤎🧸🤣. He most definitely deserved true love and I'm glad Azalea got true love too! P.S. Mina got on my nerves and I wanted Zay to check her one good time. But hey Zay is very demure in her responses. 🤣🤎 And Roman got off too easy👀

The final book in this series was such a winner in my eyes. Isaac and Azalea's banter was delicious and their chemistry? Goodness, so hot. There were some big obstacles they had to overcome on their road to HEA but I loved watching them work through everything together. Isaac turned out to be quite the romantic and I'm not going to lie, there were a couple moments that had me tearing up because I was loving them so much. Overall this whole series was a delight.

Great read. Broke my reading slump!

I can always trust Shae Sanders to deliver. Like my headline says, this broke my reading slump, which has been going on for months. Months.

Loved everything about it from Isaac to Azalea to her sister Amina to his brother Taurus. No notes. Deftly handled the issues each character had in a realistic way without veering into melodramatic or over the top. Highly recommend.

Issac😍

This is my favorite book of the series! Issac’s grumpiness and Azalea’s eternal optimism was such a stark contrast and really made for an interesting dynamic. Isaac was bae. The way he wasn’t playing at all with Azalea was everything. He applied nothing but pressure and I loved that they addressed the unfair power dynamic and did something about it early on. I loved this!

4.5/5 - Shae Sanders is up there with authors I love. She has the perfect pacing in each of her books and the dialogue is great. This was a perfect way to close out the series of the Jackson Brothers. I wasn’t a fan of Issac in the first 2 books, due to his criminal history (LOL) and comparing him to his brothers, but he definitely redeemed himself in this book. The FMC Azalea’s was so delusional at times with her optimistic predisposition, but I feel like that is exactly what Issac needed in his life. Azalea’s Pinterest board at the end was so cute!🥰

Last but certainly not least ♥️

I adored Isaac and Zay and I always enjoy a great redemption story. Isaac’s turnaround and him going to therapy was soooo endearing. Amina worked my nerve to the bone and Roman was their biggest hater, but not even the two combined could stop their love. Isaac may just be my favorite Jackson brother!

This is the story of Isaac and Azalea, two people that fall in love really, really unexpectedly.

Not gonna lie, it took me much longer than expected to get through this book. That said, I’m glad I did. When Isaac rolled up on that ex, it was EVERYTHING.

10/10, recommend the whole series.

Whew! Just when you thought Issac wasn’t gonna get right he met the PO who straightened him out. Azela’s happiness and optimism brought out the best and worst in Issac but he brought her comfort, love, and protection.
