Modern day society looks at many aspects of Ancient Rome as barbaric and lascivious, but we could and should learn from the Romans in countless ways; their attitude towards nudity, sexual preference, and sex included. Puritanical viewpoints after all has accomplished only oppression. This book shows us that while also teaching us that representations of sex are excellent vehicles for other subjects including the political and societal. Mainly, though, this book gives us a wholly unique insight to Pompeii, quite possibly the most impressive and important find in archeology. Highly recommended.
