I loved looking through and identifying plants I'd like to have in my garden and learning more about other wild flowers not in my experience. It would be a wonderful resource to have..

Every Texan should have this book. It's my "Go to" book to identify wildflowers. THE BEST!

It was a helpful guide, but I kinda wish it would tell me more about each flower.

I absolutely love this book. I picked it up a few years ago when I began taking photographs a bit more regularly here in Texas - I wanted to know what the names of the flowers were that I loved and photographed.
This book is an excellent reference - each flower has a color photograph next to the description of the size, number of petals, type of inflorescence, etc. There is a ruler in the front of the book so you can compare flower sizes in the field. There is also a regular glossary of terms and an illustrated glossary of flower parts and inflorescence types. The flowers are grouped by family in the book.
The only thing that could make this book better is a way to more easily discover the type of flower you have. Currently, you just have to flip through every single page to find a photo that matches. It might be nice to have a flow chart or at least questions in the back to point you in the right direction. For instance, you could follow the path for pink flowers, under 1/2 inch diameter, X type of inflorescence - then it would give you a list of flowers it might be and the page numbers so you could narrow it down faster.
But the pictures are beautiful and the descriptions are informative. I've found it to be an excellent book to have around.

Beautiful photographs, clear descriptions, thorough identifications. A great aid in flower identification.
