It’s not easy being an ordinary teenager leading a hazardous and exciting double life.
The Garmaurians, the most advanced species in the universe, wiped themselves out with a bio-weapon in a senseless civil war. And, in a desperate attempt to protect the secret of the potentially dangerous Trion technology - the ability to manipulate the fundamental particle of the universe - their leader sends one last covert mission to Earth. The mission goes horribly wrong, leaving Billy Caudwell; an overweight, acne-scarred 14 year old, with the Mind Profile of a military genius, a huge battle fleet and a mission to unite the intelligent species of the universe in a Universal Alliance.
With people to rescue, space fleets to battle and villains to defeat, Billy has to overcome his own inhibitions, insecurities and a vicious bully before he can start saving the universe.
Welcome, dear readers, to the exciting universe of First Admiral.
Review by S. Bree High YATR Space rockets in flight and full on space battles are not normally my thing. I am being honest here, but I was asked to read this for review. I like to read different genres than I normally go after. Keeps it fresh and exciting, so I am glad I checked this one out. I have heard the term space opera thrown around about this book. I think that does fit! Here is why, yes there are space ships and battles. However underneath all of that there is a story beyond the battles. I honestly did not think I would enjoy the book, the wording confused me and I felt lost in the pages. I think that once I learned to appreciate the expression and descriptions and got to the guts of the story, I found myself enjoying the read more and more. I was outside of my comfort zone with this one, and I am glad I jumped off the ledge.
First Admiral has several large scale epic space battles. My son says that anytime referring to a battle in space of this magnitude it is Epic. Now that I have been schooled, I am good. LOL! I liked the hero in the story, I found him enjoyable. He cared more about the battles. He was concerned with making the universe a better place. I found the author adding the portion of book that was Billys life a nice addition for me. Since I am not a traditional epic space battle reader, this portion of the book drew me in. I was able to see a different perspective. I think that if you are into space story with a story beyond the battle, this is a book you would enjoy. Take some time to check out this story, and see what you think. I am looking forward to reading the second book to see where the author takes the story and what happens next. Guess it is a good thing I get to review them both

This saga is split between a space battle and a life of a boy named Billy here on earth. First of all let me explain as I am not a fan of science fiction, but the concept here is interesting. While I enjoyed Billy's instance here on Earth, the space scenes simply seemed to draw out and not progress. With what little I know about space travel several scenes seemed very far fetched even for fiction. In my opinion, I would love to see the story of Billy and his adventures here be the focus and maybe snippets of the spaceship adventures. This book will appeal to teen boys and men, so it does have an audience. Michelle McQueen
When 14 year old Billy is stranded during a mission to earth, this unlikely hero will have to use every bit of will power he has to rise to the occasion. He is young but has the mind of a military genius. This is straight up science fiction, if you know any boys that like things like Battlestar Galactica or Star Wars, I think they would really enjoy this book. I am not a huge Sci-fi reader anymore, but the book is really well written. Has fantastic plot, battles, and adventure with several sub-stories going on within the book. I think any kid into Sci-fi will love this one.
Yup, that's it, I give up. I couldn't finish this book. It isn't the book bad, but just not my taste. the story and MC have it all too easy. Its make the story seems flat.
Was a fun read! I loved that it starts the story while he is an adult, then shows how he got there. I loved the descriptions of the space battles and logistics used.
