This was such an emotional and moving story! I really felt the tug on my own emotions as I read about what Amos and Hope were experiencing.
Amos knew that it was time to move on and retire from the Amish Market, yet he wondered what was next for him. There was happiness at knowing all of his daughters were happy with their families, but at the same time, there was also a big, empty house he was living in all alone.
Hope felt a lot of uncertainty throughout the novel due to her very difficult financial situation, but her worry was compounded by the fact that one of her sons was struggling and making very bad and even potentially dangerous decisions.
The friendship that grew into love between Hope and Amos was so sweet and felt very natural. There was an age gap that really concerned Amos, though, and made him question if he was the best man for Hope.
I liked the way the author approached the difficulties that people faced in this story. There were not simply easy answers and situations were not solved instantly. It took determination, prayer, and support to get these characters through their challenges.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
This is a sweet story of second chances- in life, as well as romance! I really enjoy reading about older characters, and the bittersweet challenges of starting over. I could identify with their struggle over their age difference, but was glad they didn’t let it discourage them. Hope and Amos approach their new friendship armed with the wisdom of many Amish proverbs to guide them. My favorite is, “Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, and take what comes with a smile.” This applies to helping a wayward son find his footing, too. As with any good story, there are a few bumps and tears along the way, but that’s part of what makes it such a satisfying conclusion to this Love Inspired series.
I absolutely loved this story! Amos and Hope's story is so much more than just a story of romance and faith. It deals with many real-life issues that are not dealt with very often.
Changes, effects, and difficulties associated with new stages of life Changes, effects, and difficulties of starting over in the unfamiliar The importance of community support Effects and difficulties associated with unexpected situations, regardless of the person's age Difficulties young people face, especially in trying to deal with changes Tough love
Although I know these issues are dealt with in other stories, author Vanneta Chapman's descriptive writing brings them so much to life that it makes the reader feel every bit of what the characters are going through. And though this does come up often, I love that this story deals with a second chance at love during a later stage in life rather than at a young age.
All of this makes for a wonderful and endearing story that should not be missed.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions and comments are voluntary and completely my own.
Book Quotes: Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, and take what comes with a smile.
"Worry ends where faith begins." She turned to her oldest, eyebrows raised, a smile tugging at her lips. "You're quoting Amish proverbs to me?" "Ya, I guess so. That's one my mamm likes to say."
This was a wonderful addition to the series. While it could be read alone and still be a lovely read, it was so nice to catch up with the daughters and their families. Amos’s embrace of new challenges in his life and world was refreshing- he had seemed so steady in my mind in previous books that is was good to see him grow and stretch in his relationship with Hope and her boys. While I wanted resolution I did hate for the book to end.
While this book is part of a series, this story of second chances can easily be read as a standalone novel. However, readers will have a greater appreciation for the characters if they read them in order. Overall, this is a heartwarming story, and Hope is an easy character to root for and like. Her struggles to start over and do the best for her family will likely resonate with many readers, as will themes of second chances, losing a spouse, and finding community.
I love stories of Amish Fiction! This book is no exception. Vannetta Chapman has found a universal topic that I am certain many Amish and English families have to deal with. Love, Loss, Guilt, Blending, New Paths Faith and the complexity of them all. Don't pass this book up.
Another wonderful book by Vannetta Chapman. I enjoyed reading another story about the Yoder family. It was great reading about Amos and his story. I always look forward to her books.
A wonderful story about second chances in life, love, and family. We all need a second chance at one time or another. Are you willing to give second chances? I like to think I do but I know I’m not as gracious with my feelings as Hope and Amos.
Hope needed to get her three boys out of Lancaster, PA so she bought a home sight unseen in Shipshewana, IN. The home was not as expected but she turned the other cheek and made the best of the situation. Her middle son was not as willing and quickly returned to his bad habits.
Amos, the local operator of the famous flea market, took a chance on hiring both Hope and her troubled son. As the days go on Amos finds himself with feelings towards Hope.
Can Amos save Hope’s son and find a new love or will he have to choose?
I have thoroughly enjoyed the Indiana Amish Market series. Shipshewana is a favorite vacation destination for me so I love being able to picture the places as I read them. Definitely visit JoJo’s pretzels if you find yourself in Shipshe.
Taking you back to the Indiana Amish market job 6 is a wonderful story of second chances and overcoming grief. Learning to trust and listen to God to guide you. Finding your path with Friends, Family and Faith!
Hope is definitely the theme of this book. As a widow myself, this story was written showing that all is not rosy, but our stories are not finished yet.
AN AMISH WIDOW’S NEW LOVE by Vannetta Chapman is the fabulous story of Hope Lambright and Amos Yoder. Both seem to be at a fork in their life - leaving the past behind them and wondering where the road forward will take them.
Hope was widowed at the age of 44 with three sons to raise. Her middle son had been the one to find his daed dead in the barn. He had died instantly from an aneurysm. Her husband had always been searching for that next get rich scheme that always only left them further into debt. His death left her in dire financial circumstances. Two years later, due to numerous problems, including a district that seemed to have gotten tired of giving support and one son that had gotten into legal problems, Hope decided the best thing would be a fresh new start in a new district. Finding what she hoped would be a good home, given her meager funds, she had bought it sight unseen, packed up what few belongs they could carry on board the bus and headed to Shipshewana.
Amos Yoder is the owner of the Shipshewana Outdoor Market. As he’s fast approaching his 60th birthday, he’s decided it’s time to turn over the reins to his son-in-law for the younger generation to run. His only problem is wondering what direction his life will take – what will he do with the rest of his life. He’s spent most of his life raising his five daughters. Now they are all grown and married. He’s worked all his life at the market and can’t imagine himself content to just sit in a rocking chair on the porch and watch time go by. When he’s approached by Ezekiel, his friend and the bishop of their district, to help with a widow and her children that just moved to town who are in need of just about everything, he felt this was the solution to the problem of what’s next. Helping with getting things needed and doing work he can do himself, plus offering jobs at the market for two of the sons and the mother, was what he had in mind. Never in his wildest dream had he thought of forming an attachment to this family with thoughts of more than friendship with the widow much younger than himself.
With Hope’s “Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, and take what come with a smile.” attitude, it showed Amos what real strength was within her making him admire her all the more. Having went through a few of the same emotions of losing a spouse and being left to raise a family on your own, he can relate to her situation in lots of ways many may not. When Amos seems willing to help her sons, her admiration grows for this man that gives so freely of himself to those he’s known for such a short time. Is it possible this admiration can grow and develop into something else? Will the Bishop’s words – “The real secret of happiness is not what you give or what you receive, it’s what you share.” – add to sharing themselves with the other having those feelings to grow even more? Can Amos get over the age difference? Will Lucas’ problems put a wedge between them or have them working even harder together? What will it take to turn Lucas’ life around? Could it possible be as simple as the truth? With the love and support of his family, will Amos speak his mind and heart? Will two family be combined into one big, loving family?
AN AMISH WIDOW’S NEW LOVE is the exceptional story that will have you falling in love with the characters, hoping for problems to be resolved and dreaming of a happily ever after. You are bound to read it in one sitting because you will unable to put it down until you see how it all turns out. Vannetta Chapman gives us a story of second chances both in life and love, not giving up, hope, family, community, proving that no problem is too large if you add love and faith, sweet romance that knows no age limit and wraps it all in a wonderful thread of faith. AN AMISH WIDOW’S NEW LOVE is positively FIVE STAR reading at its best! I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. It’s a book you will love reading and then feel compelled to share it with others too.
Although part of a series AN AMISH WIDOW’S NEW LOVE can most definitely be read as a standalone book.
I receive an ARC of this book with no requirement or expectations of a review. All opinions are completely my own. #AnAmishWidowsNewLove #IndianaAmishMarket #VannettaChapman #LoveInspired #InspirationalRomance
An Amish Widow’s New Love by Vannetta Chapman is a darling story. Amos Yoder’s has an empty nest now that his five daughters have married, but it may not be that way for long. I like Vannetta Chapman’s writing style. It is friendly and engaging. The characters are friendly and relatable. I felt for Hope whose middle son, Lucas, is struggling since the death of his father, and she is hoping that a new town will be good for all of them. I enjoyed visiting the market again. It is a large operation which gets busier each year. I like how faith was woven into the story. An Amish Widow’s New Love is the sixth book in the Indiana Amish Market series. It can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading each book in this delightful series. It was great to catch up with Amos’s daughters and their families. The Yoder clan continues to expand, and the market is a family affair. I was happy and sad to reach the end. I liked the ending, but I am sad that it is the last book in the series. An Amish Widow’s New Love is a heartwarming tale with a new town, a lemon of a home, a troubled teen, a caring community, piles of paperwork, and a fresh start.
There are not enough adjectives to describe how marvelous, wonderful, awesome and amazing this book was. I have read the others in the series and they were all simply superb. This book touched me so much. I did chuckle a time or two but I found myself getting very emotional and needing more tissues than I have used in a long long time. This book gave me goosebumps and chills and I could not put it down. I can't believe how fast I read this. Vannetta is one of the very best story tellers in the world of fiction today and she wrote this book in such a way that it seemed more real than fiction. I love the older person romances that we get once in a while. This book touched me on all levels and it was a book I will most certainly read over and over again and I highly recommend this book to others but it might help if they have read the other books in the series. Thank you Vannetta for providing me with an advanced reader copy of this book and I was humbled to receive it and honored to review it.
A story of second chances, An Amish Widow’s New Love is such a heartwarming story. Hope moves, with the plan of starting over for her family after the loss of her husband. That is so difficult, but add in three boys, one having challenges, and life just got harder. But her community, and especially her neighbor Amos is there to help.
There is so much going on that this is an emotional story. Starting over, second changes, prodigal son, losing a spouse. But through it all God is good and people are there to help if we let them. Community is important!
If you enjoy Amish stories I highly recommend An Amish Widow’s New Love. In fact, I recommend the entire Indiana Amish Market series. Although they could be standalones, we see the same community and many of the same people so it helps to read them all in order.
I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.
Sometimes I need a break from reading mystery/suspense so I'm happy to read something on the lighter side of life. And this book fits the bill.
Another favorite author of mine is Vannetta Chapman. I enjoy the style of her writing as well as the interaction between the characters she writes about.
I also love this new size of paperback from Love inspired it's not small nor is it big...it's just right. Even the print is wonderful.
In this story Hope has three sons at that teen age. Then there's Amos.
Hope needs a job and she boldly asks Amos if she can work at his outdoor market...he simply can't say no. Remember that Amos is a widower and love seems in the past for him.
Hope and Amos have a wonderful employee/employer relationship and then Amos begins to see Hope in a whole new way.
There is something very comforting about a sweet romance and there is nothing sweeter than Amos and Hope’s journey towards a second chance at love.
She is a widow with three sons. Her life has been filled with struggle and strife but she is strong despite everything. He lost his wife a long time ago and raised his 5 daughters alone while working hard at the family business.
Neither was looking for any type of personal entanglement but working together and being neighbours led to friendship and then kinship and finally, love. Watching them come together and be there for each other through the good times and the bad, was the true definition of unconditional love and acceptance.
I read this in one very enjoyable sitting and am giving AN AMISH WIDOW’S NEW LOVE the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval, TBR and Enjoy!
This was a story of a young widow's financial plight after her husband's passing. He has left her with more debt than she can handle and she moves to a new Amish community. She has nothing to her name except those debts and the house she purchased after the sale of her past home. Will the new community accept her and how will she and her sons forge a new path? This was a really good book and I enjoyed it very much. She finds help through Amos Yoder, the owner of the Amish Market. And then she finds a wonderful community and more! I really enjoyed this Amish romance and I recommend this book. You won't want to miss it!
I received an ARC copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is my favorite book in Chapman’s Indiana Amish Market series. It was nice to catch up with Amos and his growing family. Hope and her three sons were new to Shipshewana. I loved how the community reached out to her, including Amos Yoder with him owning the large market and offering jobs throughout his lifetime to those in need. The story is filled with lovable characters, realistic challenges, humor and seriousness with Amish proverbs and scriptures, plus God’s never failing love, grace and hope.
I received an early copy of this book without any obligation to write a positive review. I have expressed my own thoughts.
This whole Indiana Amish Market series has been great, but I think this one touched me the most. Perhaps that’s because I’m closer to the age of the widower father and manager of the market, Amos Yoder, rather than his five daughters who were featured in the previous books. The troubles and sweet growing relationship of widowed newcomer Hope Lambright really emotionally engage the reader. Life is full of risk and challenges, and this story authentically portrays this. I recommend this novel even if you haven’t read the preceding ones. I hope the series continues with Hope’s three sons. I received a copy from the author. All opinions are my own.
A good story of a young widow mother looking for a new life after loosing her husband. Hope Lambright is the mother of three boys. She moves to a new Amish community hoping to start a new life. She has had trouble with her middle son and hopes he will settle down at their new home. Hope is needing a job. She ask her new widower neighbor Amos Yoder for a job at his Amish Market. Amos hires Hope but soon there seems to be more than a working relationship. He offers a job to the middle son but soon he regrets that decision. When Amos decides he has to let Hope’s son go will it cause a problem with their relationship?
This is one of my favorite stories by Vannetta Chapman. Starting over can be stressful and uncertain. Yet, with faith and hope in God, we can journey through life finding comfort and peace. The characters in the story are down-to-earth, good folks who have struggles and joys. From a prodigal son, to dealing with death, to the joy of family, this is a story I will remember. I received a complimentary copy of the book. No review was required.
An Amish Window's New Love by Gannett a Chapman is a great read. There is an age difference between an Amish woman with 3 teenage sons and an Amish gentleman. Hope asks Amos for a job and he can't say no. This in my opinion is a wonderful read.
Follow Hope and Amos as they find love is even better the second time around. The characters just came alive in this 6th book in the Indiana Amish Market series. Hope and Amos must deal with every day problems that face both Amish and English, but love makes everything worthwhile.
