Rate this book
The lightening-quick Russian victory over the United States is total and complete. The Soviet thermonuclear first strike transforms America's cities into fire-scorched mounds of radioactive rubble, its vast countryside into a shattered wasteland. The onslaught of Russian invasion troops capture most Americans fortunate enough to survive the nuclear carnage, creating a slave labor force to serve every demand of the Russian overlords.

But a handful of survivors escape the Russian net and choose to live-and give their lives if need be-for freedom's cause. Led by Ted Rockson, the ultimate soldier of survival, the FreeFighters vow to drive the hated Russians from American shores at any cost. And when civil war breaks out between the two Soviet factions that rule the United States-The Red Army and the black-shirted KGB-Rockson knows it's time to strike, to divide and conquer the oppressor-or die in the attempt. The battle that will determine the very course of civilization is about to begin...

A lackluster edition in this series. The premise was good. Just the execution was feeble. The Doomsday Warrior and his rebels form a plan to help the Red-Army fight back and retake the nukes and bases that the KGB have taken from them. They form an uneasy alliance with the Reds and are joined in the fight with a group from Soviet occupied Asia.

This all sounds well and good but there is too much planning and talking to make it exciting. The big push comes at the very end and is over quick. Just missed the mark on so many levels.

In one of the first scenes of the book they have a homage to the day of the triffids. Rocks love interests get together and make the whole attack troop wish for more stealth. Rock borrows a Russian listening post to put his plan to Russian aggressor. USA teams up with Russian to destroy the KGB nut case. Rock lives thru an scene that would drive Indiana Jone to distraction. Rock win an honorary title and a friend within a Russian crack team. Rock finds what is left of the native American Indians. He is given the task of destruction of buffalo warriors or the certain rape and murder of his entire attack squad. Rock is under minded by Rafe by taking 60% of his support troops. Rock defeats his prime adversary death by new and old friends alike.
