Sara is a Guardian, an elite human warrior trained to battle the races of Rhea, but she soon finds herself on a quest to save them when their afterlife is invaded by a powerful, mysterious race called the Pelasgians. In the journey that follows, she will see a side of the Rheans never before seen, and discover that the Pelasgians are a much greater threat than anyone can imagine.
Vampires, mummies, werewolves and other creatures of mythology are reimagined as various races who must join forces to confront an ancient evil.
Started out interested but as things progressed completely lost me. Too many characters/races. Descriptions of irrelevant things, while a considerable lack of attention on important pieces.
I was looking for a change of pace and that is certainly what I got. Maybe it's because of all the romance books I've been reading lately but I had a hard time with the writing style of this book. It was choppy and too simplistic. There was virtually no world building and I could not grasp the characterisation. The premise to an awesome story is all there but the delivery fell flat. I have finished this still not know what Leon looks like and with no idea about the place of Rhea (even though we have travelled far & wide). Everything seems presented through conversations instead of descriptive passages being used. The balance was way off. I would like to know what happens next - especially with Leon & Sara but the writing style puts me off.
I think the author simply had to many ideas and not enough book. If the book could have been fleshed out more I would have liked it a lot. Unfortunately instead at times the book is hard to follow. Too bad.
The plot line of the story was good and some of the characters were well written...however, the names of the species or characters could have been a little more creative.
