This is a fantastic resource for anyone interested in acrylic painting. It starts you with various supplies, a little history (acrylics are very new compared to tempura and oils that the "old masters" used), and technique. This book covers a lot of ground! I particularly liked the information about this different densities in acrylics, and the differences between student quality and professional quality supplies. Also, information about preserving/sealing your work.
There's a lot of information in this book, and this summary only scrapes the surface. If you're interested in getting started with acrylics, or learning how to improve your skills, this is a great resource.
I love this book for its clear and comprehensive guide to materials and techniques when painting with acrylics. It's not a book you finish, it's one you keep handy and refer to when you need to know something, or dip into to fall over something new that you weren't looking for, or just to flick through the colourful pages and feel newly motivated to get some colour on your own canvases. I'm neither beginner nor expert but I can see it would be a real gift for someone just getting going, and I can't see a long-time acrylics aficionado turning their nose up either.
I'm calling this 'finished' which it can't be as it's for reference rather than reading. It's there to find things - whether materials or techniques - so it's going to get grubby!
A lot of information, from the basics to advanced techniques and professional development. The techniques are not always shown in a detailed step-by-step fashion, but there is always enough information to determine a procedure. Basically, it is a full course on acrylic painting.
One of the most comprehensive guides to painting I have ever seen. Excellent information, inspiring artwork and step-by-step instructions for achieving the same effects.
Dense enough to be useful to experienced artists, but accessible enough for beginners.
An incredibly thorough guide with examples that make me excited about painting. Some of the techniques are pretty advanced, but they're explained clearly, and in ways that build on each other.
