This is one of my favorite BL series. The romance happens with a minimum of angst, and the focus is more on their lives beyond their relationship, figuring out what they want to do and who they want to be, and finding support and inspiration from each other.
Hard to rate this accurately, since it appears to be impossible to get my hands on an actual published copy by a now out-of-business publisher. (Blu Manga how I hate you in particular.) The U.S. manga publishing industry is incredibly frustrating and creates this issue far too often...but I'm going to keep a search going for the mythical Volume 2. It was published and copies do exist, but out-of-print manga is really difficult to find for sale online. Maybe now that Tokyopop is back and churning out a lot of BL again, they'll reissue this series? One can hope.
I bought Vols 1, 3, and 4 after checking that I could at least read a scanlation version of Vol 2 to fill in the gaps. Unfortunately and to my immense frustration, the bit I liked the most from Volume 1 - the bonus chapter about Keigo and Mizuki - has another little "Delicious Life" extra that's in Vol 2's table of contents but is missing from the online version.
More reasons to keep searching for that elusive physical copy. It's only 8 pages, but I bet I'd really like those 8 pages, which could help to bump up my overall rating for this volume. (The extra about Hasune's sister was included and was again excellently funny.)
Anyway, I did like the continuation of the main storyline here. Tokumaru and Hasune are in a pretty solid relationship, and I like how it's clear that they enjoy spending time together beyond the purely physical - they have good conversations and that strong bond that Sakuragi is really skilled at building. While a new character comes in to stir things up and make Hasune jealous, it's interesting that he's not actually a rival love interest...he's someone Tokumaru admires and looks up to, and possibly wants to be like. Which also means that when he accidentally sees Tokumaru and Hasune in a ... compromising position ... Tokumaru is torn between two people he cares about.
Also interesting that this incident comes right after Tokumaru's sister finds out about them and calls their relationship gross, which devastates him...losing the respect of a hero-friend along with his sister's support would throw a lot of wrenches into his relationship with Hasune.
Fortunately, Tokumaru's friend is actually pretty open-minded, and his sister comes around, too, after the initial shock. So the next problem is for both Tokumaru and Hasune to start thinking seriously about what they want to do with their futures.
Tokumaru is the author's favorite character and technically the main character, which is visible - I do like him, but I find Hasune's storyline more interesting. He's torn between family traditions and who he wants to be, and he's a lot more serious about Tokumaru than Tokumaru is about him.
They're both in love, yeah, but Hasune is ready and willing to overturn his life for love, and Tokumaru still isn't really sure what he wants to do beyond the next...week, maybe.
It'll be interesting to see how this relationship progresses and how they work through their future plans - and I'm so relieved that I can go back to reading the physical copies now!
