** Daalder's Chocolates ** 🍫💝
A dutch novel by Philibert Schogt about a Chocolateir's life.
.
Joop had a difficult childhood especially because of his sly taste buds which led him to despise the taste of common food made by his mother, and mostly everywhere in Holland.
However, there were rare moments in his life when he tasted things so delicious that it gave him a sense of reality. He associated his existence with his ability to taste.
"I taste, therefore I am." 🍫
.
This is the story of his journey from being an outsider in his own home to finding his life's purpose at a Chocolate shop in France, far away from his dear homeland.
.
There's a lot more to this novel than Joop's ability to make Chocolates and I could relate to it at so many levels. However, the reason I picked up this one and enjoyed it so much was my love for cooking & mostly, baking.🥖 I don't think I would have liked it as much if I wasn't finding solace in my newly found hobby. ✨
So, this was the first book i read after a prolonged break from reading and I was not disappointed to get back to it! 💕
