NY Times and USA Today Bestselling author in romantic suspense. Amazon Top 100 author. Harlequin Desire author.
I'm a Southern California girl, born and raised. I live with my husband, two sons, a wild cat, and a very old snake. I have been an accountant, substitute teacher, caterer, financial analyst for a major defense contractor, real-estate broker, aerobics instructor, freelance writer and caregiver to creatures the kids/hubby/dog drag in.
I would like to say that I actually liked this story, what I didn't like was Jenna. The main female character. Every single time she did or said something contrary to what Mack asked or wanted, I felt the need to strangle her or, at the very least, slap the shit out of her. My exact response whenever she contradicted orders was, "Bitch, he's a SEAL. YOU HIRED HIM FOR THIS VERY REASON." Every time she was argumentative, like she knew better, I said, "Bitch, he's a SEAL". My whole point was...he was a Navy SEAL so I just didn't understand why she was being so willful, to a point where she put him and his entire Team in danger. She just continued to participate in behaviors that were counter-intuitive, as well as counter-productive, and it drove me absolutely batshit. In real life, a SEAL would have left her and not stayed romantically involved with her especially when she was putting his team in danger. THAT would have been unacceptable to him. I seriously found myself hoping she'd get shot just because she was so willfully stupid. Otherwise, nice story. lol
This one was a hard book for me to rate. I loved the story line and thought that it had a lot of promise. However Jenna (the main female character) drove me a little nuts; she was all over the place and did only what she wanted to do (which was often opposite of what Mack told her to). I also hated how the author constantly reminded us that she was an admirals daughter.
With that being said, the story itself was good enough that I wasn't willing to not finish the story.
Jenna works for a travel agency called eXtreme Adventures that puts together unusual vacations for wealthy people. While on one of these vacations, one of her clients and his family gets kidnapped in South America so Jenna calls Navy SEAL Mack Riley to rescue them. She didn't want to call him because he was her ex and he didn't want to agree to the mission because he was her ex. But they both tried to put the past behind them and find the clients.
I had mixed feelings about the characters. The SEAL team men were great. I loved the way they worked so well together. They were so good at their individual specialties that it makes you truly realize the training and skill the SEALs have. Jenna was not so likable and it was hard for me to figure out what Mack ever saw in her. She was like a spoiled princess expecting to always get her own way. She was the Admiral's daughter, which we were told so often it was annoying, but that seemed to make her believe she was privileged and should get whatever she wanted, not get hurt or kidnapped. Just living in a dream world. Jenna's personality was irritating when she would not listen to Mack's rescue suggestions and, thinking she knew better, did things he told her not to do. This almost got them all killed.
I liked this action-packed adventure. With sexy SEALs, who wouldn't? I recommend this suspenseful military romance.
The action is fierce, bloody and brutal. It made my heart beat faster, and bite my nails. It's non-stop once it starts, the situations are not getting better, or more peaceful, quite the opposite. There's no safe place to be found, no one is beyond the danger zone. Absolutely hair-raising situation after another. The team of SEALs, hired by Jenna, are true brothers. They banter, joke and play when they can. But they are also prepared to protect each other no matter what, have each others back, and ready to run into a deadly situation to save their brothers. The repartee is fun, made me smile and chuckle several times, their enthusiasm is endless, energy contagious. Jenna and Mack has a burning hot connection, yet the love they have for each other is palpable. The history between them comes out through the story by their memories, and it's evident, they have some misunderstandings between them. Jenna is stubborn to the core. Because of her need to stay in control, and the stubbornness, she makes several questionable, dangerous decisions, that were frustrating at times. The story is entertaining and fun military action packed thrill ride. There's no angst or blues to mention. After the action started it captured my mind, and I had to keep reading until the end, just to see what happened, and the ending did not disappoint. ~ Four Spoons!
I read an advanced copy of Coming in Hot so I could write a review. Jenna runs a travel agency called eXtreme Adventures. When a billionaire client and his family are kidnapped in South America, Jenna calls the one man she knows who can handle the rescue: Navy SEAL Mack Riley. There's just one problem. He's her Ex. There's plenty of unfinished business between those two, which makes for some lively, and racy, scenes. The story is suspenseful and has some unexpected twists which keeps the reader connected. The details of a military operation seem quite authentic and makes one appreciate what goes into a rescue mission. This is an engaging read for anyone who wants to be thrown into an action-packed, sexy, escapade.
TSTL heroine inspires hope that the guerilla terrorists kill her before she gets the rescue team killed
I like the writing, but loathe the so-called heroine. I quit reading at about halfway through because I just couldn't take any more of the idiotic heroine. She is willfully ignorant, stupidly obstinate, foolishly impetuous, and unbearably controlling. In other words, she's too stupid to live. Other than sexual chemistry and blonde good looks, there's nothing attractive about her. Makes me pity the poor hero who takes her back when he should have fallen to his knees and given thanks that she dumped him.
This is a great SEALS action packed adventure. Suspense??? Most definitely but there has to be when you put five SEALS, one female, guns, Guerrillas, ransom, and a foreign country together. I have to admit though I even laughed at some of the parts. Definitely looking forward to where the next EXtreme adventure will be taking me.
Oh just a heads up that the female lead is a very independent, bossy, and strong person. I loved that about her. It is nice to read a story where a woman is strong and the alpha male loves it about her and not intimidated by it.
I don't write many reviews, but when I give such a low rating (which is also rare) I feel that I should provide reasons for my opinion. I hated the character of Jenna. She was the most self-centered, pig-headed pain in the butt I have ever seen in a leading lady. She didn't deserve her hero at all. The story was also way too long. After the mission was completed, there was no need for the extra chapters. I thought I'd never reach the end!
TSTL after TSTL after TSTL moment brought to you by our h, Jenna.
Our h hires the H to rescue her clients who have been kidnapped while on an adventure in Central America because he is the best. She then demands to go with on the rescue mission, even though she has no experience in rescue operations. She makes a phone call while on the plane to let others know that they are coming in so they can provide additional support for the 'covert' mission... Getting all of the locals killed. She continues to argue every step with the H, getting herself into more trouble and eventually captured. The H is frustrated but is in love with her but in pain because she left him... without telling him why she left thinking he should know what is going on in her head. The H explains her actions by saying that she marches to the beat of her own drums. This gers people in combat scenarios killed!
I will try to read the next in the series and truly hope for better main characters.

Coming in Hot ~ SEAL EXtreme Team ~ Book 1 brings together Jenna Collins and Lieutenant Mack Riley, Navy SEAL commander when she needs his help to rescue her clients that were on vacation and captured by gorilla fighters.
Almost two years earlier Jenna and Mack had started a romance and being a Navy brat, Jenna couldn't take Mack going off on dangerous missions and the stress and worry if he would return, so she called off the relationship.
He was hurt and now she calls him out of the blue, but he doesn't want to be involved with her again, until she begs to help the family with two children that are in danger; it is the right thing to do. He calls his team, they head for South America with Jenna in tow to rescue her family. If anything could go wrong it did making the rescue more difficult. Loved the characters on the team and how they teased, laughed and worked together, each with their special skills. Loved the ending.
I didn’t know you could hire Navy Seals to do your bidding. Maybe being the Admiral’s daughter had something to do with it, eh? Anyway, hired and/or ordered they are. Jenna, the Admiral’s daughter, is the travel agent for EXtreme Adventures, and her wealthy clients have been kidnapped by Columbian guerillas. Team leader Mack Riley and Jenna used to be an item. That is until Mack went back to the sandbox and Jenna went to Brazil. So much for love. Now the two lovebirds have another chance at it, as long as rescuing the wealthy clients doesn’t get in the way of romance. And in this tale of second chances, nothing does. There is some action in the jungle with the guerillas but most of the action is with Jenna and Mack. It’s a fun listen but Seal Team Six it’s not. Three.point.five.
This was an action packed book; the author did a great job of weaving the plot and explained all the action. The seals are an extremely smart, tough, dedicated individuals who love what they do and are very good at doing the job.
For anyone who loves reading about men in service, this author is for you.
A nonstop action packed adrenaline rush. This story starts off with a bang and just keeps going full speed from there. A definite page turner that will keep you on your toes, biting your nails and holding your breath. In the midst of all the chaos an intensely emotional second chance romance will warm your heart. I enjoyed this book.
Good book, full of action. I read/heard it through the Audible version. I'm not a fan of the voice actor, he sounds like a much older person, like your grandfather, making it impossible to get into sexy scenes. If I go to the next book in the series, I will ONLY be reading it & NOT listening to it.
Half Star. Total wasted of time. I’m on a nightmare roll. This story line is SO unbelievable and unrealistic that no one with any sense could buy in to it. The ‘heroine’ is disgusting and clueless. Why would any author think she was in any way likable. My first Kimberley Troutte book—and probably my last.
She was never going to fall for a Navy guy, because her dad is an Admiral. But falls hard for this SEAL.. But they break up. 18 months later she family in Columbia in trouble. She calls him, he doesn't want to help. The Admiral calls, he goes, but will it work.
I liked the creative writing in a jungle setting trying to save hostages. Just a little unbelievable that they would take a civilian in under this kind of gun power. Guy and girl have an old flame that is rekindled in the middle of guerilla warfare?
This book is packed with action, passion and suspense a total thrill ride.I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a romance or a suspense.

I did like the idea behind this book, but although it was a quick, easy read, I couldn't give it four stars.
Mack was an interesting character, but Jenna did irritate me at times. I'm all for a strong heroine, but not one who disregards common sense just to show how independent she is. I felt she didn't understand the potential danger she'd put the other team members in.
I also wasn't too keen on the twins' obsession with her. I loved Charlie and Willie, but I have serious issues when more characters than just the hero has feelings for the heroine. Still, Charlie in particular was especially awesome. By the end of the book, I felt he'd definitely proved himself an invaluable member of the team. Willie was good, but his skills weren't explained with the same kind of detail as Charlie's.
I liked the other members of the team in the book, too, and I would have liked to see more of them and their past. I liked the banter between the teammates and I thought they played off each other well.
I felt there was a good mix of action and romance, though there was a bit of... kissing while involved in a dangerous mission. Towards the end of the book, Jenna showed a bit more intelligence, too.
I think I'd be interested in reading the next books in the series at a later date. It would be nice to see more of the secondary characters.
I love sexy, irreverent, gun toting military men who kick ass and take names while protecting the country the love enough to die fighting for it. This first book in the Extreme SEAL Team series is an awesome start to what promises to be a roller coaster ride of adventure from the first chapter to the heart pounding finish, and I can't wait to see all the guys fall hard and fast in love. Mack, Willy, Ty Charlie and Tavon are a lean, mean, fighting machine, SEAL team that made my heart race with anticipation and excitement while they made me laugh out loud because of comments like, "Should I cover you with the iPad?" and "You could use my ass for a helo pad." I can't wait to read the next book from this talented, and highly entertaining, author of romantic suspense.
Every once in a while, I crave high energy, suspenseful action alongside of my romance. This book fit that bill. There were things I really liked about the book - the secondary characters were great. There were things that made me scratch my head. I really liked Mack and Jenna, yet their relationship was different. They hate each other, yet the first thing they do is sleep together. They push each other away, then in the next breath tell the other how much they want them. There were also a few typos which usually I can overlook, but when they're the heroine's name, that bugs me. But don't let that keep you from reading this book. The story line is great with action that keeps you flipping the pages. I will definitely be checking out Charlie's book next!
This author definitely knows how to write her SEAL's!
I love the strong female lead in the story. Jenna Collins was so strong that she didn't know when enough is enough and to let the professionals handle the rescue like they were trying to do. Mack Riley and the rest of SEAL Team Six are AMAZING! Their characters are well developed and the banter between them was fan-freaking-tastic! They each had different charming, sexy personality traits.
AWESOME series! I can't wait to see what's next.
Received a copy via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed is my own.
Really great book. Lots of details and action. Just my kind of book. Everyone who knows me knows I'm a sucker for action and suspense wrapped up in romance.
The moment I started reading this it sucked me in and refussed to let go. I couldn't stop reading, and when I did I had a hard time not thinking about it and what will happen next.
All I have to say that this book had me turned upside down since the first word. There are a few editing mistakes but they are few and far between. Nothing that can destroy the well written story.
I enjoyed all the characters who made up the special Seals team. The banter between them showed their closeness in brotherhood and the way they worked together showed their skills as a well tuned team. Great story shows just how extreme life can get on enemy lines. Loved the never ending connection between Mack and Jenna that both tried to deny until seeing each other in danger at the enemies hands.
Liked the writing and detail. Loved the guys. Too bad the heroine bad to have so many TSTL moments.
I will definitely check out the next book in this series, though, because I did enjoy her writing, the storyline, and the detail she brings to the SEAL life.
First time reading this author but most certainly not the last. I really enjoyed her work. She did great with the imagery, plot, and character development. She can sure also write a sexy love scene. This was action packed and the pacing was on point. Mack and Jenna were great MCs and the rest of the team was set up to have their own stories very well. Can't flipping wait!
