I love butterflies and moths. The title of this board book indicated it was to be about butterflies and then suddenly it was comparing and contrasting butterflies and moths. It was the sentence about most moths are small and brown, but ideas are inaccurate. The most beautiful moth I have seen had medium pink wings and a yellow fuzzy head and I saw it very closely. And then there is the very large lovely light green Luna moth which you will always remember if you see it. Many moths are as large as butterflies. I am very disappointed in this title as it was published by Candlewick Press which has a very good reputation.
The extensive Maisy series of children's books are beloved by parents and children alike and they cover a wide range of interests. The "Maisy Planet" series of books provides little ones with exploration of the planet on which we live and the critters that abound here, too. In this cute board book, Maisy discovers butterflies.
A delightfully entertaining introduction to butterflies, moths, and caterpillars. Young children will learn what butterflies (and moths) need and a bit about the life cycle. The amount of information is pretty extensive for ages 1 to 3 but certainly within the scope of understanding and comprehension. The board book is not tiny yet not overlarge for young hands. The typical "Masiy" illustration style is attention grabbing for intended age group.
The "Maisy Planet" series is worth the investment for young families.

Another adorable and interesting Maisy’s Planet, Explore & Learn edition-this one fully focused on butterflies. This book is just the right mix of fact and adorable Maisy Moments. The pictures are realistic enough but still come off as cute and cuddly. Each fact page is followed by an activity that can inspire a young garder, ecologist, entomologist or just any kid who likes to get outside and explore their world and to know how things work. Very cute and I love the fold-out end page that creates a parade of Maisy’s friends and butterflies flitting all round. This is a great STEM book for the very young. 3 Cheers! Maisy makes learning fun!
Another excellent Maisy science book. The text tells the reader where butterflies live and what they need to stay healthy and grow. The book talks about moths, too.
