I started reading this book because my Mom and I got into a discussion about Emilie Barns and I was reminded of my love for her work. As is typical, God brought it along when I needed it the most.
Barnes is both encouraging and convicting in her words. I know that as long as her books are around, She will be encouraging the saints, even though she has been in heaven for years.
I love how this book focused on coming to God with our struggles and then letting God fill us with what He truly desires for us.

I highly recommend this book for Christian women.

Using the lyrics of “Fill My Cup, Lord” as a jumping off place, Barnes develops the imagery related to our lives as teacups—clean, dirty; empty, refilled; broken, mended; etc. Then each chapter focuses on one characteristic that we need to fill our cups: forgiveness, kindness, peace, etc. Easy to read; inspiring and challenging in application

Delightful reading about asking our Lord to fill our cup. Taking scripture passages, step by step is a beautifully woven moment for every morning or evening time with our Lord.

The images of holding your chipped tea cup up in prayer, if you are a tea drinker... you know how precious your teacups are... that is the crafted connection to this valued journey into the holiness of tea with His word.

A journey to read... a journey to journal... a journey to pass on to those you love,

This looks like a small table top book..for decoration or distraction, but do not pass it by! It is filled with so much goodness. Jesus and God are thoroughly intwined in our lives and she writes of them.
I may read this again, thoughI have already read it multiple times.
It speaks to Quiet, Encouragement, Forgiveness, Trust, Communion, Strength, Thanksgiving and Service….small book..dense content!
Need a gift idea for a young lady? Older woman? This one…will bless!

i read this book to fulfill the goal "read a book that you should have read in school, but didn't" I had a christian living class in college designed specifically for women. this was one of the textbooks. I am ashamed to say i didn't take it seriously then, but it has turned out to be probably the most useful class i took. Even if i had read it then, i probably wouldn't have appreciated it without the added benefit of some real world experience and wisdom that only growing older can bring. The thing i liked most about this book was the teaching that we needed to bring our cup to the Lord daily if not hourly for him to fill. I have been reading in other books about the difference between our conscious/higher brain and our subconscious/lower brain. One we can control, one we can not. how important is it to submit all of our conscious cup to the Lord so that he can fill it to overflowing. speaks of quiet times, encouragement, forgiveness, trust, communion, strength, thanksgiving, and service.

Does have a doctoral issue on that we are born children of God. (CH 1) We are adopted into God's family when we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. We are all creations of GOD. But other than that it has been a very good book so far.

Just finished the cup of trust. Was perfect for me. Since that was what are sermon was on yesterday. LOL! What a God thing! 8/25/08

Finished the cup of strength. Excellent chapter. I really have enjoyed this book. It has given me such good wisdom.9/08

10/7/08 This book is one of the greatest books I have read. It has called me to walk a deeper walk with God.

I just finished this book a couple of days ago. And absolutely loved it. It is on my favorites list. I think she might of been talking to only believers as children of God. I recommend this book to any lady that needs her cup filled. 10/10/08

This is such a sweet book which uses teacups as brilliant metaphors to represent emptying your cups of negative things so God can fill them with all of His wonderful blessings. I really enjoyed it and made many notes and throughout the book as reminders to me. Our cups can't be filled with good things if we don't empty out all the bad and negative things. The one about emptying our cup of fear so we can fill it with TRUST was so timely it was nearly miraculous. Great book for people who love Jesus and tea!

This is a fine Christian fellowship read for anyone dealing with, dying from, living with or coping in any way with a difficult illness.
Emilie is a mentor of mine who I have studied for years, and been blessed by her great spirit.
