Part 1... The Chance She Took is the story of Miss Rayqelle Davis, the step daughter of a Chicago police officer, who grows up in a seriously dysfunctional home and turns to the streets as a means of escape. After some truly bad experiences with thug love, that leave her both emotionally and physically battered, Rayqelle soon grows to understand that fast life and fast love in the hood ain’t all that it’s cracked up to be. That is when she meets Chance, a very handsome and mysterious stranger whose love threatens to turn her whole world upside down.

"You will never be nothing but a drug addict". "The Chance She Took" is a book written by Kole Black that I read last summer. It is very interesting and excited It is full of ups and down and will keep you reading every second of it I will like to tell you about the main characters, setting, and the conflict.

First of all I will like to talk about the main character in the story Rayqelle who was born on the Southside of Chicago and was raised by a drug addict mother and a stepfather who is a police officer. She has two sisters Linn who has a congenital heart disease and Letah who was infected by H.I.V. by Rayqelle ex boyfriend.

Another reason I will like to talk about the setting "The Chance She Took" takes place in an urban environment most of the scene takes place in a hotel and the main character house. There is also a setting that takes place in the hospital when Rayqelle is sent to the emergency room because she is addicted to cocaine and was unstable to do anything.

The last things I will like to talk about are some of the conflict in "The Chance She Took". Some major conflict are Rayqelle meets with an old friend who taught her to go back to her old ways by prostituting and cheating on her faithful boyfriend Chance

The main character, the setting and the conflicts are basically the three 3 things are like when are read “The Chance She Took”

Nice flow

First off This book needs to be placed in the erotica section. Explicit sexual scenes. Not that I care but readers who do not read erotica will be in for a SURPRISE. Steamy sexy scenes.

Now that out of the way. I don't usually put in a review about grammar, misspelled words, or punctuation. That's an editor's job to help an author. This book had a lot of hood lingo so may be the above mentioned was missed by the editor. Be prepared to read script conversations difference from hood life to middle - high class, collage educated , and Christians characters.
The story line Mr. Black created was very rough ,hood, and taboo at times ( 14 yr olds looking so dang sexy for their own good, sex was an innuendo at that age ). Good verses evil. Makes one wonder just how hard or just how much truth in Mr.Blacks story has he seen or lived.

I won't give any of the story away. I will say the characters you learn to love and some you hate. I rented this book and read all 900 some pages in 24 hours. Mr . Black kept my attention with the smoothness of his writing skills.

This novel was so well written! Kole Black had me trying to read the book with both my eyes covered the whole way through! >LOL> I was so afraid for Rayqelle (The girl that tells the story in the book). But at the same time I was like "FIGHT! GIRL, FIGHT! FIGHT FOR YO' LIFE! FIGHT FOR YO' MAN!" And then was praying that her "so called friend" Iesha got what was coming to her in the end! I was in way too deep!>LOL.

Kole Black brought the characters in this book to life, like you would not believe! This is a great book. But, I gotta warn you. "It's steamy as hell! I mean super SEXXXY!" and there are some really scary, heartpounding parts that will simply leave you with your jaw on the floor. This guy has the amazing ability to put you right there in the center room as all the drama between these incredibly well fleshed out characters unfolds.

Zane, Nikki Turner and Eric Jerome Dickey better all watch out!

Kole Black is a New York Times Best Seller in the making!

Well done!

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars!

I really enjoyed this book. The only con about this book, was it was too short. Reading this book I am a believer that there is someone for everyone. Rayqelle Davis found her true love and protected him at all costs. It was a story about how things can change in a blink of an eye. However, love will always prevail.

The Chance She Took (The Chance Series, #1) by Kole Black

OMG! There is drama at every turn in this book. The ending will throw you for a loop because you dont see it coming. Author Kole Black is giving author LaTonya West a run for her money. I cant wait to check out the other books from this series

This is a really good story! I am a tough critic of storylines. A book has got to be moving and shaking to hold my attention. But this series did it. It had me glued to the pages from the start to the end.

Considering all the gaming Rayquelle has done , I'm trying to figure out why she couldn't see Iesha for who she really is

Once Raychelle brought Iesha’s hating behind into her and Chance’s bed I knew it would not end well. Instead of slowing Iesha to pimp her out and turn her into a druggie she should have just told Chance the truth about her past. I’m so glad he didn’t end up in prison for killing that whore

Good page turner and it got more interesting as the plot unfolded and got to the thick of the story. The ending was shocking..I wasn't expecting that type of outcome.
Nice job Kole B!

Kole Black can't possibly be a real author! Does he even re-read what he writes? The story wasn't really that bad, but holy cow! The spelling and grammar made it practically unreadable!

It was ok. Kind of all over the places. A lot of questions that were asked weren't answered. Just a book to read when u are bored.
