I got the second one as a freebie and there’s no way I’m starting in the middle (also the end in this case) of a duet so I went over to KU to read One Winter Night. Jenny Pineapple REALLY has a way with shorts. The premises are always simple but the stories so well written and edited, and the MCs typically have great chemistry. I especially liked that Dominic and Julian actually had something to dislike each other over and that they didn’t immediately get over it.

Dominic and Julian are supposed to be airport-bound, but a full-blown snowstorm has other plans, a random hunting lodge that becomes their unexpected refuge. And let me tell you, the tension inside that cabin is just as intense as the weather outside.
These two men arrive with layers of history between them and through carefully chosen words, loaded glances and body language that speaks volumes, we watch those walls start to crack.
What impressed me most is how much emotional weight the author fits into such a compact space. Nothing feels rushed or shallow, every sentence does double duty, carrying meaning beyond just the words on the page. You feel the shift between Dominic and Julian in the silences, in the way they move around each other, in the thoughts they don't quite say out loud.
By the end, it's not just a snowed-in hookup, it's a genuine turning point for both of them. Powerful, romantic and definitely spicy enough to warm you up on a cold night.

This is a small snippet of a story that promises so much more to come for this couple. Stranded on a cold winter's night due to a blizzard, these two opposites are greatly attracted to each other and tentatively act on it, becoming more passionate as they explore. It's steamy, it's sensual and it left me yearning for more of their story. Thankfully I'm reading this right on the day that the second part of their story is released.

What a difference a day makes! This is a wonderful tale of two men stranded in an old cabin during a major snow storm. For certain reasons, not going to spoil the plot, they deeply dislike each other and didn't expect to spend so much time together. The story keeps you going as the dislike continues . . . somewhat. A very enjoyable read and, I'm really REALLY hoping that the number 1 in the title above means we'll be seeing more of these two.

3.5 ⭐️ Packing a storyline about sexuality and self-acceptance into such a short piece makes a story that bills itself as spicy feel unnecessarily serious. That said, the author’s writing is solid, and it feels like a waste to see that skill confined to novella.

So much can happen on just one winter night, it can be life-altering and as soft, gentle and beautiful as the falling snow.
Well, the falling snow in Jenny Pineapple's 'One Winter Night' is more like a blizzard which makes it impossible for Dominic and Julian to complete their drive to the airport. Fortunately for them an old hunting lodge is waiting to give them just enough shelter from the storm raging outside. As to the storm that is raging between them and whether they will be able to defrost the walls of ice emanating from one another, that is another matter entirely.
In a short story, easily read in under an hour, we learn a lot about who these two men are, the events that have led to this night and, before long (with the help of a bottle of wine) how their futures might reshape. It's not easy when you don't have many words, to convey the depth of feeling some stories require. In 'One Winter Night' it is there. Every word, every sentence conveys so much more than the space it uses on the page, there is a depth to this story, it is written between the lines, it is what we learn from the descriptions of body language, from the thoughts of the characters. It is a life changing story and set of events for Julian and Dominic, it is a powerful, romantic, spicy read for us.
