4.25 🌟 So many emotions and all the feels were felt with this one! Kendrix is a man who knows how to use his words to penetrate your heart and your coochie!!! MY GAWD. This was a intense yet beautiful second chance romance filled with romantic suspense and some unexpected plot twists.

The ending felt a bit rushed and I felt the subplot could've been a little more flushed out or better setup / explored, but I have no complaints for how things turned out for Phoenix and Kendrix, because they both deserved the love that they had been depriving themselves of for so long. And I could relate to the mother wound / issues Phoenix dealt with on a very personal level, so that part of the story hit home for me! Destiny was a much sh*ttier excuse for a mother than the one I've experienced in this lifetime... But I digress.

I read “Finding My Way Outta Darkness” almost a year ago, so I forgot how much I enjoyed this author's writing. It's a beautifully engaging blend of faith, praying, healing, found family, romance, sex, and suspense in her plots / storylines that I thoroughly enjoyed. And although this can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading Makayla and Brian's story AND novella (which I accidentally skipped) first to fully understand Phoenix and Kendrix's, because it picks up right where theirs left off.

I will definitely be reading more of Briyanna Michelle's work and hopefully we will be getting Asha and Levi's story soon!

Another heart breaking story of a young man, helpless as his sleazy father beats on his mother. The kind of fear that Kendrix and his mother lived under was unbearable and not going to end in a good way.

Phoenix is perfect for Kendrix and they are good for each other. But she is weary of waiting for him to make his move. However, Phoenix does not know that there are a couple of people blocking their relationship, on purpose. And who they are, is absolutely shocking!

Baby, baby, baby…what do I even say?! I absolutely LOVED this book! Kendrix and Phoenix completely took me by surprise. I’ll be honest, in Book 1 I was definitely on the fence about them, but whew… they fully redeemed themselves in this one. Their growth, their passion, their story—it all came together so perfectly.

I read a TON of romance, and I always take a moment to reflect on what it must take to bring a story like this to life. Writing characters that feel so real, so layered, and so emotionally gripping is no small feat - and let me tell you, Ms. Briyanna Michelle did THAT. Kendrix and Phoenix had enough chemistry to start a forest fire. Their connection leapt right off the page, and even though it took them a while to get it right, it was so worth the wait.

Now let’s talk about these side characters! Levi and Asha have had me hooked since Book 1. There’s something brewing there just beneath the surface, and I am not okay until I get their full story. Like… immediately!

This was my first book (and series) by this author, but it most definitely won’t be my last. If you love your romance with a splash of crime plot, run to pick this up. Highly recommend!

The Thriller in suspense was so good that it was twisting in turning! 😳😳😳😳

My favorite part is when Phoenix told her mother and father can go to hell 🤣🤣🤣🤣

This book was so good and I loved it from beginning to end. Childhood sweethearts that fought for love for 15 years. They went through hell in back but still manage to come out on top!

I love this series…

Love a black woman to infinity!!

I love the way the author writes and captures love in her books.. It’s so beautiful to read a book when the men let god lead them..

If he don’t love me how Kendrix loves Phoenix then I DON’T WANT IT!! I knew their story would be good.. but damn if it did not have me punching the air.. There are things in this novella that I did not expect.. 83% in I had to put my kindle down and pick my damn jaw up off the ground.. definitely all the criminal minds vibe..

Phoenix definitely rose from the ashes..

Let’s not forget the spice.. I swear if my man don’t rub my essence on his… no spoilers! But shit..

I know there has to a one for Asha and Levi cause the way that man make my girl putty .. ima need that!

I know we are all looking for our next book boyfriend but i need yall to skip this one cause I’m claiming Kendrix. lol
Author Briyanna did a wonderful job at writing her first thriller romance. She did a wonderful job of making sure the romance didn’t overshadow the thriller aspect and vice versa. I would be hard pressed to think this story doesnt connect with readers. Kendrix is a hard man but he will soften up only for those who he cares about. Phoenix!!!! Phoenix is the only woman I’d share Kendrix with lol.

So much love in this book

I really enjoyed watching Phoenix and Kendrix's stories unfold. There was so much drama going on behind it all but at the forefront was always the love. You could tell from the beginning that they were meant for each other but allowed outside forces to keep them apart. I was also happy to see Phoenix step into her bad a** woman moment. When Travis came into the picture it just brought me joy to see that he was able to give and receive love matter the crap life threw at him.

This was a really good story!!

I love a good second chance romance and Phoenix & Kendrix delivered. They both had stories and pasts that hindered them from fully being together. It was always some drama happening, but they overcame.

This romance had a really good mystery to it as well. I love when a man has to go on a mission to protect his boo and Kendrix did just that. He DID NOT play about his jewel!!!

If you love a romance with some mystery to it as well as depth within the main characters, this is the book for you!!!

A new author alert.

I liked the story. There were no major issues to report, just a good solid love story with a mystery component. I knew who the culprit villains were long before the big reveal. Even knowing early on, I still enjoyed the story.The ending could have had more gravitas for me... but oh well.

Truly a redemption story

I don’t know what I expected but this book was better than my expectations.
Phoenix really lived up to her name.
Ken finally accepted himself and it wasn’t all gloomy.

Destiny I didn’t expect to be who she was, nor did I expect Seth.

I really liked this book. I loved how we got to see Phoenix and Kendrick love story evolve. I definitely didn’t expect the plot twist in the story but it made the story even more interesting. I also love how it brings awareness about sex trafficking. This is my second book by Briyanna Michelle and she did not disappoint! I can’t wait to read more by her!
