This book went a little too far off the rails for me. I'm all for a possessive and even stalkerish hero. But this book just didn't do the possessiveness well in my opinion. There was no rhyme or reason to Lincoln's absolute obsession and for a book that was marketed as a hockey romance not a dark romance, he went a little too far with little to no actual explanation. If he was some big mafia guy or something more along those lines I think it would have made more sense. But instead he came off as a weird combination of hockey star with daddy issues and a complete psycho. Like wanting to "protect" Monroe is one thing, breaking into her apartment as she sleeps and jerking off is a whole other thing. And again, I wouldn't have even batted an eye at that in another book if it made sense for the character but Lincoln's entire character to me was just odd.
On top of that I didn't jive real well with this writing style and it actually got annoying the amount of times we saw a scene from Monroe's point of view and then again in Lincoln's POV. Especially the text messages that I didn't need to read twice. Which leads to my next complaint, the text formats. The conversations over text would switch from being in text bubbles to then having what was typed out in italics and it made it a little hard sometimes to follow the conversations.
Overall, this one wasn't for me. I see why it got the hype it did but in the end I don't think it was executed and fleshed out enough. There were also a few inconsistencies in the story that I could have ignored but with me already not enjoying the story those moments became even more annoying for me.

** changed rating to 1 star because on top of not enjoying the book, I learned the author likes to bully readers by posting their reviews in her group and making fun of them ... that's lame as fuck
TLDR; this didn’t work for me & Lincoln Daniels needs to be institutionalized lol
Well… This was… Something 🤣
Don’t get me wrong, I live for an unhinged bad boy (Zade Meadows, Lucifer Malikov, Jeremiah Rain, etc etc), but Lincoln Daniels isn’t it.
Despite thinking I would hate this, I went in hoping that I would be wrong (I wasn’t lol). I was here for the wrong number meet cute, but then Lincoln went off the rails & it was a disaster after that.
Mans had her followed by a PI after seeing ONE picture of her so he can learn everything about her, runs into her while she’s working and then takes her into a hallway so they can dry hump five minutes after meeting, then shows up at the class she’s attending the next day and coerces her into going on a date with him by offering the ENTIRE class a years worth of tuition but only if she says yes.
On their second “date” he shows her that he tattooed his dick with her name and says that he got it the minute he knew she was real (so like before meeting her??? Because again he’s a stalker lol), gets her evicted from her apartment (tbf it was a crappy apartment but still) to make her move in with him, and then gets her fired after beating the shit out of her (admittedly creepy) boss.
On top of that, he’s love bombing the fuck out of her and like 75% of the way through the book Monroe has yet to say it back because she’s fucking smart 🤣 Like yeah, Lincoln says some sweet ass shit but he is unhinged and not in the this is a huge red flag but I’ll allow it kind of way 🤣🤣
AND THEN he drugs and chains her up in his penthouse after she finally learns the truth about him and tried to run away & blames her for making him this way!!! Does Monroe stay mad though? No. She gets over it like 5 minutes later because they continue to sleep together & then rationalizes his behavior and makes him her “savior”.
They obviously live happily ever after.
Also what was the point of the drama with his dad? WHY WAS THAT EVEN THERE?! It was so fucking useless and literally added nothing to the story whatsoever.

the way this book is so misleading. it says it’s a hockey romance but when actually it’s a dark one (i don’t have issues with dark romances) but there’s not a single trigger warning mentioning the crazy shit that happens in here. there’s not a word saying it’s a dark romance. it’s false marketing and literally being advertised as a regular hockey romance. are we as readers supposed to dream or have premonitions of the triggers???? not everyone has the stomach for this shit.

Look. I made it to 85% but I just can’t take this seriously. This hero is such a ridiculous OTT simp and I just don’t find that hot. It comes across as pathetic. The Cinderella-ish tropes were keeping me reading despite all my second hand embarrassment for the cuckoo H. There’s no substance to this. Their relationship is about as deep as a puddle: OMGAWD SHES SO HAWT is not a foundation for forever. He decides she’s his after seeing one picture. That’s it. Then he goes nuts. The book truly jumped the shark for me when the hero whips out his dick and shows the h that he tattooed her name on his manhood before they ever met in person. 👀 🙈 What makes it worse is that she thinks this is hawt, not the most stupid thing she’s ever heard. Like a normal person.
Once I started picturing the hero as 👆🏻that guy, I struggled to continue. 😂
I like a hero who has some chill and judgment. This hero makes the decisions of a 14 yr old pimply faced boy. That’s not hot to this reader. 🤷🏼♀️

Dallas Knights starting forward, Lincoln Daniels, continues to find himself under his father’s thumb. When pushed to date the daughter of a business partner, Linc accidentally texts the wrong number. Fed up with men, Monroe Bardot snarks back to the cocky man on the other end of the text thread.
When their banter takes a turn into more friendly territory, Linc becomes obsessed with the girl who could care less about his fame. Each text exchange endears her further to him until his feelings reach a fever pitch. Convinced she’s the one, Linc takes matters into his own hands to ensure she needs him as much as he needs her.
So… This book definitely lived up to the hype for me! I absolutely floved Linc and his brand of crazy.

This was NOT advertised to be this kinda book.
Please for the love of god put fucking TW. I saw some of the other stuff that happens and dude come on.
I was excited for this book. I loved the idea but I got 29 pages in and DNFd it so fast.
The writing style is odd it’s confusing and weird. We have no content warnings also and there is a lot of dark content right away. SA, trauma, Abuse. A lot. And then the plot was weird and she’s homeless? What the hell. And then I skipped ahead to find the “wrong number”texts and I am confused why we used chat bubbles but then also used italics for the texts. The switching back and forth was discombobulating. And then we have this whole wrong number scene in her pov and then we switch to his and do the same? It was highly unnecessary. Really disappointed.

For those of you who follow my reviews, you know I have very few, if any triggers and I’m down for just about anything. You also know I’m a hard DNF. And even then, I almost never warn someone off a book.
Well hi I’m here! DNFing this book and screaming to the high heavens that… well, you shouldn’t pick this up.
The author put in her feed the other day that the blurb explains exactly how dark and full of triggers this book is, and I reread the blurb like 6 times and I can’t seem to see where that comes thru.
Basically, this book is about a about an abused and neglected 18-year-old who escaped the foster system and is pretty much homeless who meets a hockey player who is obsessive and jealous and completely set on making her his. But not “your mine” growly obsessed… more like ties her up in the basement so she can’t leave obsessed. No I’m not exaggerating.
Listen, I’m all for an anti-hero. But having the female POV constantly say “we are toxic but I’m ok with it” isn’t enough here. This book legit glorifies abuse, frames a narrative about two mentally unwell characters who need professional help. One of the last lines in the book is “if I left he’d kill me” …
I just read Liars Like Us by JT Geissenger, which had an anti-hero who was similarly obsessed and some of the same plot lines. And it didn’t make me feel icky. It didn’t cross the line to

If I could give this book no stars I would.
There are morally grey characters and then there’s this guy. He was likeable at first. Then I read a bit more. He’s overly manipulative, stalker-ish, and just disgusting behaviour completely turned me off this book.

I read romances because they are unrealistic, a way to escape and fantasize, and The Wrong Pucking Number is exactly that. This is classified as a dark romance and while I really didn't think it was dark at all, there are definitely things that could be triggering to some; so check the TW's before reading. I absolutely breezed through this book. With a completely obsessed MC and stellar dirty talk, I was hooked from the beginning. The darker aspects, including stalking, dubcon, somnophilia, and manipulation just added to the book in my opinion and I couldn't get enough! I am super excited about the rest of the series and can't wait to read Ari's story.

3.5 obsessive stars
Eh. I’m on the fence on my rating… I liked/loved a lot of things and questioned other things as well…
Monroe (19 once the book takes off but 10 in the prologue and 17 in her first chapter) has had a hard life. Her mom, rest in peace, used to sell herself and was an addict. Unfortunately, young Monroe witnessed a lot of things (including her death), and was eventually put in the foster system. Now that she’s about to turn 18, her foster dad is looking at her and in a 🥴 way, and she needs to leave. She gets away from that life and arrives in Dallas where she meets a sweet homeless man, Bill, who directs her to a woman’s shelter.
A year ish later, she’s working two jobs, lives in a cheap apartment, and is attending college. Out of nowhere, she gets messaged by an unknown number…
Lincoln’s (24) a star hockey player who’s VERY experienced. His dad wants him to message/get with the daughter of a business associate to close a deal and Lincoln doesn’t care to. In fact, he ends up going out with his best friend, Ari, and he gets wasted. His dad demands that he message the girl he stood up, so he does. Except it isn’t the girl he thought he was messaging.
It’s Monroe 👀.
Monroe gets frustrated when he keeps texting her, so she does what any annoyed woman would do…
She sends him a selfie flipping him off 😅🤣.
And then, he decides, he wants her. And he’ll do anything to get her 👀.
What I liked/loved: POSSIBLE SPOILERS
—the texting/messaging. I thought these were cute and sometimes funny. Eventually, they graduate to phone calls. It reminded me of ✨simpler✨times were we would text and talk to people all the time… and these two do a lot of it before they finally meet in person. We don’t see it all, but it becomes routine for them ❤️ they do quite a bit of it before they come face-to-face
—how obsessed Lincoln gets 👀. He sees Monroe (the selfie) and he wants her and 👏ONLY👏 her 💁. There are tons of women around😐, but he doesn’t see any of them. He ONLY has eyes for Monroe👏. He even makes plans for their future 😮💨. I love me a dedicated man 💅
—how dedicated he is ❤️. He’s not gonna let ANYONE stop him from being with Monroe 😮💨 not even Monroe 🤣💁
—he falls first 💅. I looove when this happens, especially when the FMC is reluctant. He definitely does lots of chasing 😮💨
—Monroe is very beautiful… and lots of others want her 😬😅 which means
—Lincoln’s gets JEAAAALOUS 😈. He sees all men as competition, and he needs to take care of all of them 🤷. Don’t get in his way 😬 or else 💅
—the 🔥 times. Umm… so… the first time they see each other, it gets ✨intense✨, and, well, he has her use his leg while they’re kissing to… 💦 lol (this is the FIRST time they see each other in person 🤣 Bahahaha they clearly don’t give any f’s). This leads Lincoln tasting Monroe a lot…
in various ways and full 🔥 by 62%. He especially looooves prepping her 😉
—hearty eating 🥵. Lincoln’s obsessed 🫠. If he could bottle her taste, he would 😅
—the way he “grovels” (ahem… if you can “call” it that) when he messes up. Luckily, Monroe gets taken care of (🥵💦) while he suffers (💁as he should). At least somebody gets the O everyday 👏 lol and it ain’t Lincoln 🤣
—the crazy things he does. Like… closing down a restaurant when she’s eating with another guy (and then wearing a mask and taking care of said guy 😬) and like paying her classmates tuition if she goes to his game (no pressure). Things like that 😅. Suuuuper sweet 🥹❤️. Bahahahahaa 🤣
—stalking/spying. He’s dedicated and is obsessed. Makes sense 💁
—tattoo 😬😅. Umm… I mean… I get WHY he did it…
But… I think he could’ve maybe waited a little while 😅😬. And don’t get me started on not following the proper aftercare instructions 🤣
—the swooniness 🥹. Sooo… he might’ve caused some bad things to happen to her, but he’s always there to help her after😅 like any good man would do 🤷

For example- the scene where she overhears ow talking about being with Lincoln and how hot he is when Monroe’s in line to use the restroom could’ve been done WITH purpose👈. Monroe was feeling like 💩 already- and then, she goes back to the party, and there are women all over him🙄- touching his shirt, his hair, and Lincoln DOESN’T do anything 😐. How does he NOT notice? Eh. I’m on the fence on my rating… I liked/loved a lot of things and questioned other things as well…
Monroe (19 once the book takes off but 10 in the prologue and 17 in her first chapter) has had a hard life. Her mom, rest in peace, used to sell herself and was an addict. Unfortunately, young Monroe witnessed a lot of things (including her death), and was eventually put in the foster system. Now that she’s about to turn 18, her foster dad is looking at her and in a 🥴 way, and she needs to leave. She gets away from that life and arrives in Dallas where she meets a sweet homeless man, Bill, who directs her to a woman’s shelter.
A year ish later, she’s working two jobs, lives in a cheap apartment, and is attending college. Out of nowhere, she gets messaged by an unknown number…
Lincoln’s (24) a star hockey player who’s VERY experienced. His dad wants him to message/get with the daughter of a business associate to close a deal and Lincoln doesn’t care to. In fact, he ends up going out with his best friend, Ari, and he gets wasted. His dad demands that he message the girl he stood up, so he does. Except it isn’t the girl he thought he was messaging.

Monroe gets frustrated when he keeps texting her, so she does what any annoyed woman would do…

oh absolutely give me MORE. im not a dark romance reader but i loveddddd this. it was definitely a lighter dark romance, too. linc was absolutely insane but i love a psychotic baddie. i don’t have much to say other than i wish we got more of their personality and some fun, flirty banter between the two. it started off super strong and i was disappointed when they both started to fall flat and seem a little dry. never boring tho because linc always had something up his sleeve. like he is actually crazy but i love him for it.

If you are looking for a ruthless, insanely obsessed, possessive caveman H willing to do whatever it takes to have and keep his h forever you’ve come to the right place.
I had some major doubts going in. I’m usually disappointed when I come across book reviews promising the kind of H we find in these pages because they rarely live up to the hype. Lincoln did not disappoint for a hot second. At one point my anxiety started ratcheting up solely because I was afraid something he did or the heroine’s reaction was going to disappoint me and sully this perfection.
Lincoln falls instantly and hard. He’s all in and desperate to make her fall for him the way he’s gone for her. She came from a very traumatic background and is very cautious and slow to trust. Despite him being the son of an asshole billionaire Lincoln hasn’t had it easy either. Both are haunted by past trauma and are absolutely perfect for each other.
There will definitely be spoilers below so if you don’t want that bail out now.
Lincoln starts out pretty mild and ratchets up to dark romance levels of insanity as an H. As an avid reader of dark romance I was on cloud 9 but so terrified it was going to wreck things in the book. He’s insanely jealous and possessive and when his father threatens h Lincoln forces her sleazy landlord to evict h without her knowing. Later he blackmails her pervy boss into firing her.
Of course, h eventually discovers his actions through Lincoln’s father. Like a perfectly sane person she’s ready to bounce but our deliciously unhinged H drugs her and chains her to his bed, perfectly content to keep her captive and wait until she’s changed her mind. Maybe my dark-o-meter is broken but this didn’t come across particularly dark despite how it sounds. Or maybe I’m broken?
This portion of the book is actually pretty short because ultimately she does love him and understands and seems to appreciate why he’s willing to go to such disturbing lengths to keep her. I was so afraid he’d do something stupid and rational like let her go and wait for her to come back to him. Yeah, I’m probably broken 😅.
Medium burn, the sexy times kick off with foreplay beginning around 50% but h doesn’t ditch her vcard til nearer to 60%.

As soon as H starts texting the h the OW is absolutely not an option for H. His father later ambushed him with a dinner where OW is a guest but he shuts her down viciously. Every woman who attempts to get with him is shut down immediately.
The mild push away from h initially is her just being scared. She’s hopelessly drawn to H and their chemistry is off the charts. Despite her hesitation she wants him as much as he wants her.
Virtually every man h comes across seems to be a creeper or pervert but she’s completely uninterested. Even the nicest one who tricks her into a date doesn’t stand a chance. H literally buys out the entire restaurant for the night to shut down the surprise trick date before he’s ever even met h in person.

When reading, I told myself that the man was a fucking psycho...just to remind myself that I've read Haunting Adeline and loved it, and that I usually love psychos in romance...
But when writing a psycho romance, there's a certain type of balance between a good crazy psycho and a bad crazy psycho. A crazy psycho equilibrium.
Here, it's definitely a bad crazy psycho situation. The man is unhinged, and not in an attractive way (yes, I go to therapy, thanks for asking) if he had been poor, she would have run and asked for a protection order...
That and the cringy dialogues and writing, I just couldn't appreciate this book properly. I laughed so hard when I shouldn't and I cringed the rest of the time.

Now I wouldn't call this contemporary romance.. I felt like this was more towards darkish romance.. since the things Lincoln did..
Monroe, at a young age, had a hard life she was already abaonded by her mother and living in forster homes and one foster home she was already ready to leave since the father was being creepy. Not wanting to take that chance, she leaves plans to make it on her own.
We fast forward a year later, and she's in school working jobs to make sure she has a place over her head, not wanting to end up like her mother.
She gets a random text, and she texts back the banter between her and the random stranger was funny. Once Lincoln knows that's not the girl he ditches (his father wanted him to date a girl), he is already smitten wanting to know everything about this girl. He was psycho obessed, lol. In one day, he knew her story but still played it off as he didn't know anything
Which are super red flags lol but he was psycho enough. I let it slide, lol. The way he played, not knowing stuff to doing a 360 and kidnapping her when things started clicking in place.
My problem is why didn't she hold out more? Didn't make him grovel a little.
No ow/om drama, no cheating, secondary character, drama, sexy times, virgin gal and sorta manwhore (it was mentioned and he talked about his past but once he saw heroine he was locked down)

I am in love with Lincoln! He is the definition of obsessive and possessive! The Pucking Wrong Number was incredible and it went above and beyond what I was expecting!
Monroe hasn't had the best time growing up, but she takes matters into her own hands and betters her life. A chance text encounter has her and Lincoln in a whirlwind.
I love how this story played out. I was waiting for Lincoln to show himself to Monroe, and feel like it happened at the right moment. From there on out, they were 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I really didn't want this one to end. I want to keep living with them, but I am so freaking excited that Ari is getting a book!!!

Please know this book contains dark, dark themes. So no. I would not recommend this for the faint of heart. Cause you're in the Pucking wrong book. This is what I consider a Dark Hockey Romance. Buckle up. Cause it's gonna be dark, delicious, and oh my shit you are gonna lose your shit. Cause I thought I lost my shit during the whole duration of the book
