I received this book from Goddess Fish Promotions in exchange of an honest review.

I just had to sign up. How can I resist? Guinea pigs with superpowers? Saving the day, or well the night as that is when they get superpowers? YASS!

In this adorable book we meet two guinea pigs, Fuzwald (cute) and Rex (adorable) who live together. They seem like normal guinea pigs, but BOOM at night? When everything is silent and their mom is to bed? They grow! GROW! GROOWWW! And then they save the city! From saving kitties to defeating robots, everything is on the menu and I just love seeing all they do. I am sure you wonder why these two got their powers? Well, there is a certain kind of guinea pig food that gives pigs their powers. It doesn’t seem to be easy to be found, but I am curious if there are other guinea pigs saving the night from evil doers. I wouldn’t mind another book with this duo meeting other super pigs!

The book is also in rhyme and I liked it! OK, some rhymes felt like they could use a bit of work, but in overal I liked them and they made the story even more fun to read.

The illustrations were fun, I love the colours + the outfits of the piggies was so fun (and cute).

But a small question in regards to the illustrations, if the guinea pigs grow 5 times in size how are they the smaller size as squirrels? From what I know and also what google tells me Guinea Pigs are around 20-25 centimetres long that multiplied by 5 would mean they are around 1 metre. However, in the pictures with the kitten and the squirrels. Everyone was bigger than them? How? But in another picture they are almost as big as a car? Hello? Help?

But all in all, I had a lot of fun reading this one! I love guinea pig and making them superpowered is just so much fun, I was rooting for them all through the night. Recommended to all~

Fuzwald and Rex, two adorable guinea pigs, live an ordinary life with their family by day, but when night falls, these two furry companions turn into superheroes because of special food the family feeds them, Guinea Pig Power Chow. The family thinks they are feeding them healthy, delicious food, but unbeknownst to them they are actually feeding them superpower food which helps Fuzwald and Rex turn into caped crusaders. They help kittens stuck in trees and even stop angry squirrels from brawling with each other. Does their family ever realize they have two special superheroes in the family?

Opinion:
This children’s story was absolutely adorable in every way! I loved how Mr. St. James introduced Fuzwald and Rex to be ordinary guinea pigs to their family, but at night they took on special powers and became superheroes saving their town from any crime or discord happening. I feel children will not only fall in love with these two furballs, but want to be like them and turn into superheroes to help their neighbors as well. Fuzwald and Rex make children feel that although you may look ordinary on the outside, on the inside each one is a superhero waiting to shine. Stories like this build confidence in children that they can be anything they want to be. The sky is the limit.

Also, I feel that while children are reading along on Fuzwald and Rex’s adventure, they will learn that courage and teamwork worked well for the guinea pigs and will surely work for whatever they set their own minds to. They’ll walk away after reading this story and not even realize they just learned an invaluable lesson from their two fuzzy friends.

Right from the start, you hear and see the rhyming of the words and can’t help but fall into a sing-song cadence as you read along. This just adds another layer of fun for readers of all ages to enjoy.

The illustrations also done by St. James were provided on every page and were vibrantly colored, pulling readers in to see what Fuzwald and Rex were doing in that part of the story. The pictures were done in a cartoonish motif and reminded me of watching a cartoon show playout before your eyes as you turn the pages. As I was looking at the fun illustrations, I could imagine children giggling in delight while looking at what Fuzwald and Rex were doing next.

Ben St. James started drawing comics in his high school newspaper. Years later, he has a prolific career working with many independent creators such as authors, artists, game designers and even Olympians. He even has designed cartoon mascots and logos for many North American companies. In addition, he has been a ghostwriter and had multiple opportunities to be an illustrator for children’s books. This is his debut as an accredited author and illustrator of his own book.

Overall, Guinea Pig Power is one book that will delight readers of any age. Between falling in love with two adorable guinea pigs by day and them turning into amazing superheroes by night, what’s not to love with this fun animal adventure! It comes highly recommended!

Youngsters will enjoy the nighttime adventures of Fuzwald and Rex, two guinea pigs with a secret.

You may think they are simply guinea pig pets, but when the moon comes out, they transform into courageous heroes, tackling tasks like flying to the rescue of tiny kittens trapped in trees.

With the help of their simple disguises and pet-food boosted superpowers, they prove that heroes come in all shapes and sizes.

St. James' rhyming narrative is light and fun, making it perfect for young readers. With its vivid illustrations and humorous storyline, "Guinea Pig Power" is sure to show that even the smallest creatures among us can accomplish great deeds if they try.

As a debut author and illustrator, St. James has created a cute, enjoyable tale

When the sun sets and the moon rises these two little super-powered piglets, thanks to their premium potent pellets, take to the city to protect its people from perpetrators

This reads in rhyme by the way 😁🙂
The illustrations were colorful and brought the story to life
At times they didnt quite match the details, but my granddaughter had no complaints.
She enjoyed reading it back to me (she is only 3 so it was her version of grandma's version) and pointing out the exciting bits in the illustrations

A fun read that is perfect for the prebedtime tale or any time really
I do hope the author chooses to continue sharing Fuzwald and Rex's adventures with us

Meet Fuzwald and Rex, two pets you could hold. The guinea pigs reminded me of Ren and Stimpy. So cute and funny. By day, they were just regular guinea pigs. But, by night, they were super pigs. Whoa! This is their story of how it all began.

The rhymes were cute and the doodles were even cuter.

If you like how the Ninja Turtles started, you’ll enjoy these super rascals.

“So remember this tale, of our heroes so true, with top secret powers and goals to pursue.”

A nice read!
