The Huntress and Her Hound

Rate this book
I have a heinous secret, and I'll do whatever it takes to protect it... Even if it's our demise.
To the world—and especially my brother—I’m a delicate flower, spending my days reading and doing absolutely no wrong. So, when my brother and his best friend ask to stay at my place in Vegas for a while, I can’t turn him down. But they have no idea of the sins I commit in this city...
Or that I’m a sadist, bringing misogynists to their knees.
These demons I have only play in the shadows when I can freely revel in my inner darkness. However, unbeknownst to me, someone else has discovered what I do under the cover of night...
And they’re coming for me.
As my life—and sanity—begin to unravel, fate throws me a line the huntress in me can’t resist. My very own hound falls right into my lap, offering a solution to the chase I can’t seem to win. There are just two problems as things heat up between us.
He’s my brother’s best friend...
And he thinks I’m a good girl.

*The Huntress and Her Hound is a standalone dark serial unaliver romance. It does not include SA or cheating between main characters. However, it does include heavy themes that some readers may find disturbing.

JUDE 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 What the actual fuck just happened? 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
It’s ALWAYS the quiet ones !!!!!

🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤Like I said : “THE MAN IN THIS TRILOGY LOVE HARD, FALLS FIRST, DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO KEEP THE GIRL, FIGHT WHOEVER, FRIENDS, SIBLINGS, ENEMIES OR KILLERS, IF THEY POSE ANY DANGER TO THEIR RELATIONSHIP THEY ARE DONE DEAD AND GONE”

I am floored by this trilogy. I’ve never heard of this author before and I think she’s pretty new, maybe not but I just discovered her and I AM HAPPY ! All 3 books are GREAT ! I am IN ABSOLUTE LOVE with all 3 men in this trilogy, I have a hard time picking a favorite. Maybe Luca is my favorite but I also loved Henry and Jude and I feel like I am betraying the 2 by picking one 😂
Jude is the hacker, the boy genius, he is Henry’s partner and best friend. He helped Henry with Lydia and Luca with Emma. He is trustworthy, level headed, calm and collected….. OR IS HE ???? He feels less than the men around him because he lives in a world where the testosterone rules, the guys are ruthless giants and Hitmen, they fear nothing or no one. And he is full of insecurities, the good guy never gets the girl…..
Cher is Henry’s little sister, he SUPER PROTECTS her, no one in the planet is good enough for her and the only 2 people he loves is her and Lydia. So Cher has her demons, her traumas and she obviously hides it all from Henry, but Jude sees right through her….. She is as BROKE as one can be. She is smart, witty, secretive, a great liar and THE BLACK WIDOW ! She is amazing!
Jude is obsessed with her and he NEEDS to get her, no matter what it takes even if ruins his friendship/partnership with Henry, he NEEDS to find her secrets, HE NEEDS HER. This book is a slow burn, but when it burns OMG IT FLAMES EVERYWHERE! I wasn’t expecting Jude to be so sexy and kinda of a Dom ! WOW 🥵🥵🥵🥵

🖤”I always wanted you to crawl to me and beg me to fuck you” 🖤

OK JUDE !
YES SIR !

Cher is so strong that when she finally cracks and breaks it even made me cry 😢 it was so sad to see her vulnerability, and when she looks at Jude and HE IS CRYING TOO omg my heart broke 💔
I adored those books and I will read whatever book Annie writes ! Hope they are all good like those.

●The Huntress and Her Hound by Annie Wild●

I did enjoy this book overall, but admittedly it did fall a little flat for me in terms of depth and plot twists.

The story revolves around Cher, a seductive and intelligent serial killer known as the Black Widow. She's got a deep-seated hatred for men due to her past trauma, which was written well, but some of her actions felt contrasting, and though smart, she made some dumb decisions.

The book is written as if there's mystery and suspense, but within the first half we learn pretty much everything about the characters, leaving only the main 'villain' to be revealed, whom I predicted successfully. The pacing is slower and focuses more on the romance, and the secrets did linger for too long. I did like the healing and Cher's thirst for vengeance, but then it just stopped...only because of the love interest, her brothers best friend and hacker, Jude.

He's definitely got the dark romance book boyfriend vibes, and is obsessed with Cher. I liked their romance and the spice, but aside from that he wasn't really anything special. Aside from wanting to find out the mystery of who Cher really is, he didn't have much else to offer. Alongside that, the characters did feel a little shallow.

However, this book was a quick and entertaining read, it did have the iconic dark romance vibes, and also had a nice HEA that wrapped things up perfectly- I'd recommend it for something short to binge between books.

3/5 🌟

“But what if my help is exactly what you need?
What if I can stop the bleeding?”
“Impossible.”
“Nothing is impossible.”

Well, well, well. Who would have thought nerdy hacker Jude had it in him? Apparently, Cher did!

Nerdy hot boys are my jam and Jude is now at the top of my list.

And he's a HANDHOLDER!

“Some risks are worth taking, and you are all I can fucking think about. So tell me what you want.
You seemed mortified by me a couple of weeks ago.”
“I want to try.”

This was a unique book at least to my reading history. I liked that the MMC wasn’t your typical type of bad boy. The timing and build up of the character development was well done too and I’m a stickler for that! This is a serial ☠️ book but it was not gory or overdone which I appreciated.

The FMC has a collection of secrets she is hiding while trying to portray this sweet innocent woman, especially toward her brother who has always taken care of her.

The MMC, her brother’s best friend, comes into her life and her emotions and thoughts start going wild. She starts to find it difficult to keep him away.

Someone knows about her secrets though and starting to exploit her. This Huntress realizes she now has a Hound to help her fight her demons (internally and in the real world).

🔥 Spice level 3.5-4
🔥 Stalker
🔥 Brother’s Best Friend
🔥 Forced Proximity
🔥 Serial unaliver
🔥 Strong FMC
🔥 “Crawl to me”

Cher is a serial killer. Living in Vegas, she kills the misogynistic men of the city and covers them up with drug overdoses, battling demons of her past.

Jude is Henry’s, Cher’s brother's best friend and hound. They work in serial killing, but he’s not your typical killer, working behind his computers and cleaning up after Henry.

When Henry and Jude come to Vegas for a job, sparks fly between him and Cher. Amongst many problems, like Cher’s dark past that she doesn’t seem to be able to silence, her brother that will kill him if he touches her, and her risking him finding out about her hobbies or her sexual assault, will they be able to find love?

Something I really liked about this book was the female main character. She’s smart, strong, intelligent, and she kills men that’s wasting oxygen and resources by living. She isn’t a typical protagonist that just waits till a man comes to save her, not a damsel in distress. She solves her problems on her own.

Another thing here is Jude. He isn’t a killer, not by typical standards, but is a hacker and helps Henry at jobs. He’s a nerd, but a freaky one.

This book is written in first person dual POV, my favorite narrative. It was easy to read and the language was varied and not really repetitive.

Last but not least, the plot. Like the majority of readers out there, I like the whole brothers best friend thing, but it wasn’t the only thing pressing them in this book. While Jude tries to figure out her, Cher is hiding and desperately attempting to hide her secrets.

With a guaranteed Happily Ever After, this book was a perfect mix of cute and dark that made me laugh out and cry at the right places. I would recommend it to the readers that like “butcher and blackbird”, “black sheep” by Brynne Weaver, “light out” by Navessa Allen, and “the mindfuck” by S. T. Abby.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I recommend diving into "No Control" and "Killing Emma" before delving into this story as characters from those tales make a cameo appearance. Brace yourself for Cher's mysterious past, hidden even from her own brother. She may look innocent, but her demons sure know how to throw a party! Get ready for a whirlwind of feelings in this rollercoaster ride of a book. Cher's dark secrets are about to surface — can she hit the brakes in time? Meet Jude, her brother's bestie with secrets of his own. Can he be the healing balm she needs? Will Cher open up to him? And most importantly, will her brother uncover her hidden history?

- Serial killer FMC
- Stalker MMC
- Forced Proximity
- Touch her and die
- Crawl to me

I have a heinous secret, and I'll do whatever it takes to protect it... Even if it's our demise.

Cher has secrets, deep, dark secrets. Secrets she would do anything to protect. But all that is threatened when her brother and his best friend ask to stay with her whilst they're in Vegas, a favour she can't refuse. Henry thinks Cher is his innocent, sweet little sister, he has no idea of the sins she's committed or the demons she harbours. Yet everything changes when she begins to receive texts from an unknown number claiming to know what she's done. As her life begins to unravel, fate throws her a lifeline in the form of her very own Hound. Jude is a talented hacker, who won't give up the chase. Things soon start heating up between the pair - problem is, he's her brothers best friend.

I literally inhaled this book. The tension and build up between Cher and Jude was pure perfection. The storyline was great. It was empowering to see a FMC standing her ground against misogynistic men - even if her methods were a little questionable 😂 (Let's be honest ladies, we've all thought about it).

The Characters were fantastically written. Cher is a bad ass, but behind her facade hide deep insecurities. The representation of her mental health was fabulous. AS FOR Jude - what a man!! The way he had me squeaking with his unexpected words. Neither character is what they appear to be - which I loved! The spice scenes between the two were just as electric as the emotional scenes were heart wrenching.

This was my first book by Annie Wild, and I'll definitely be going back to read the other interconnected standalones. Her writing style just hits the spot.

5 🌟 from me - definitely recommend if you love a dark spicy read.

Book Review 📚 The Huntress and Her Hound by Annie Wild

The electrifying and serial killer smutty conclusion to a gripping series that has captivated me from the very beginning. As the epic final book in this saga, it delivers on every level! Stalking, serial killers, romance, tech, smartassery men, sassiness.. dirty dirty smut it’s all there!

What truly sets The Huntress and Her Hound apart, though, is the background story of Cher… and that was brutal. Readers …. The trigger warning is not a menu.. ( most of the time) please read this before reading!

In short, I am sad to reach the end of this serial killer porno series I found at random. These were quick reads for me the writing style was amazing and I was hooked from page one. Give them a go! I am excited to see what else this author writes as she’s got a new fan from me!

I LOVED this book so much. I never thought of Jude and Cher getting together but I loved them. In the first 2 books they show Jude being quiet and kind and little things about him. Which he still is quiet and kind but I love that we got more of him. I never really thought of Jude because he seemed so nice. I thought his book was going to be like a femdom type book but I was so wrong. The stuff he was saying in this book🫢 “I always did want to see you crawl to me, and then beg for forgiveness while choking on my c*ck. However, that’s a fucking privilege, Cher” (not showing the rest because it’s a spoiler) Love him❤️❤️
Anyway enough about Jude let’s move to Cher❤️ In no control we don’t learn much about her other than she’s related to Henry and loves to read (which I love)
Learning about her backstory was very sad and heartbreaking but I wish we got more of it. It talks about what happened but we don’t really get to see how it got to that point. I understand why we didn’t though. Cher’s amazing I love her.
A few parts of this I didn’t really understand like why she didn’t tell Jude about the texts or why she didn’t tell Henry what happened. I can understand a little but I feel like she should have told him.
This was my favorite out of the whole series (I know it’s not really a series but I’m considering it one)

Here’s my ranking:
1. The Huntress and Her Hound
2. No Control
3. K*lling Emma

I’m so sad this series is over but so excited to see what this author writes next💕

Just by simply reading the dedication had me hooked.

"To the nerdy, lovable, morally gray side-character I never thought would get his chance at love. Jude, we had no idea you were such a freak in the sheets. Welcome to the Book Boyfriend Club.." - The Dedication, The Huntress and Her Hound

I absolutely loved this book. Who knew Jude had this freaky dark side. He’s perfect for Cher. The was he asked Cher “who did this to you?” Had my heart exploding. I just knew there was more to just a geeky tech guy!

The way this book kept me hooked since the beginning and it was so hard to put down! The twist the plot and the spiciness 🌶️ was just perfect. Jude has become my favorite out of this series 🖤

I'm so happy we finally get Jude's story. I loved this so much. I loved the chemistry between Cher and Jude. It was very cat and mouse. It was intense and fast-paced and everything I love about Annie's stories. I especially love that we get a glimpse at all of the previous couples as well. This was truly a beautiful story of helping someone they love heal from past trauma. And the spice was chef's kiss!!

ᴡʜᴏ ᴅᴏᴇꜱɴ’ᴛ ᴇɴᴊᴏʏ ᴀ ꜱᴛʀᴏɴɢ ꜰᴍᴄ ꜱᴛᴏʀʏ?

Our FMC is a serial deleter, her brother is also in that type of business but he has no idea what she does at night 🔪🩸 He visits her with his best friend as they are planning a hit, however his best friend becomes obsessed with our FMC and trying to uncover her secrets. The story progresses from this point.

Read the trigger warnings.

I’ll find you. No matter where you go. I will fucking find you.

Cher Baynes was once Layla Murphy, a young teenager with a broken childhood and a life to still accomplish before her. Following the death of her abusive stepfather and her mother, her brother Henry broke himself to keep her in the best schools and safe. When she starts seeing failing grades in English, Professor Nikes was very quick and eager to take her on for extra tutoring and help. Inviting her to his house to be tutored, he began lacing her drinks and having sexual relations with the minor. Barely remembering anything, she went months being groomed by him before she would eventually graduate and firmly believe everything was now in the past. With horrid PTSD and voices that spoke horrible things to her, she began her time as the Black Widow. Drugging and overdosing men she met at parties, it was the only thing that could calm the storming waters inside of her. Keeping everything a secret from her brother, she went through so many victims before Henry and Jude McKenzie would end up at her door for a hunt of their own.

Fuck him. Fuck them all. ‘Just open them a little wider, Cher. Let me feel how bad you want me.’ I squeeze Cash tighter. Stop. Please make it stop. ‘You think I didn’t notice how low-cut that shirt is? Let me show you what a man’s attention is supposed to feel like.’ ‘Don’t you want that recommendation? Bend over.’ ‘You don’t really want me to stop. You’re only crying because it feels so good.’

Trying to keep her distance from Jude, she’s rude and standoffish as she fights her own desires and urges towards him. Drawn to him deeper and deeper, the two begin falling for one another while Cher keeps the lies flowing. Never letting him get close enough to her, even sex between them wasn’t enough to break her icy exterior. When somebody begins stalking her and sending threatening text messages, she believes it’s Jude and thinks it’s just innocent fun. When her brother begins wondering about the attraction and weird behavior between the two of them he can’t admit to the truth. Hiding the relationship from everybody else, Jude is willing to kill for her even if she won’t admit this is what she needs. When Niles finally returned to take her back, she’s unprepared for the ability to hurt her he still kept. When Jude manages to track her cell phone, he helps her create the bloody massacre that’ll heal her wounds. When Henry finally is forced to recognize the relationship, it’ll fast forward two years to their wedding date.

She’s not yours to look at. If she told me she was, I’d devour her. I’d take control. I’d give her everything she never knew she wanted.

I have a Jude level obsession with this whole series.
This one will be on my bookshelf next to the other two as soon as humanly possible.
These books are just sooooo 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻 soooo fucking good.
The slow burn, the world building, the character development over all three of the books. It’s absolutely amazing. If I could give this 10 stars I would.
I HIGHLY recommend this book and this series and this author!!!
She will forever be on my “immediately must read” list for any work she puts out because it’s all been pure freaking gold!!!

The author said this was a standalone but I was a little lost with some character mentions and hints to the past while reading (Emma, Luca, Lydia (until she showed up in the book). A disjointed story about Cher who is hiding her serial killer lifestyle from her brother Henry (killer) and his best friend Jude (hacker). Jude is obsessed with Cher and goes to great lengths to win her over. Cher is broken with a tragic past and shuns men, but there's something about Jude. Commence the typical best friends sister forbidden romance with killing added. Story was OK and I didn't dislike it but didn't like it that much either. I don't think anything else by this author will capture my attention

I loved it. Jude is the sweetest psycho ever. I enjoyed seeing how quickly he fell for Cher and how he relentlessly worked to break down her defenses. He was willing to do anything for her, except walk away. It was wonderful to see more of his relationship with Henry. Even though they were at odds for most of the book, it was clear they cared about each other. Cher’s story was captivating, particularly how she dealt with the traumatic events in her past. I'm glad Jude loved her for exactly who she is.

3.5 ⭐️ Okay so hear me out … I love a good serial killer romance, but this one just didn’t hit like I hoped it would. I felt a bit disconnected from Jude overall (and this could be a me issue because this is the first in this series that I’ve read). I also wasn’t a big fan of Cher being a huge mf’ing liar all the time. All I wanted her to do was confide in Jude and every time the opportunity arose, f’king Pinocchio came knocking. I will go and read the rest of the series and may do a re-read of this to see if my thoughts change … Will update my review if it does.

cher and jude💌

- 3.5⭐️

overall, i enjoyed this book. however, i thought it should’ve been longer & shown more of their backgrounds. jude was such a ott character (but i loved it) he was possessive, alpha & was down bad for her! cher was also fierce and i loved the fact that she never backed down - i haven’t read much stalker books, so this was in the middle for me! not anything amazing, but not the worst book i’ve read.

“To the nerdy, lovable, morally gray side-character I never thought would get his chance at love. Jude, we had no idea you were such a freak in the sheets. Welcome to the Book Boyfriend Club.” - The Dedication, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘏𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘏𝘦𝘳 𝘏𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥

After reading that dedication, I got so giddy, melted in my seat, and knew this was going to be beyond a 5⭐️ read for me. The Huntress and Her Hound did not disappoint!! From the very first book in this stand-alone interconnected series, Jude has always been my favorite character and he’s only ever been a supporting character. But I knew there was something special about him. It’s the quiet ones you have to look out for 😉

I’m so glad that Jude got his story and found love & happiness. Him and Cher are so perfect for each other. I loved Cher! And I’m also glad that she got her own spotlight as well (she’s the sister of the MMC in the first book of this series, Henry). If you love brother’s best friend romance, a thrilling plot, touch her and die vibes, forced proximity and forehead kisses, you’ll love this book! And the spice 😮‍💨🥵 I knew Jude had it in him! I’d give the spice level here 🌶️🌶️🌶️!

“She could call me “daddy” if she wanted to. She could call me whatever the fuck she wanted as long as she crawled to me while she did it.”

I don’t think I’ve ever loved a third book more than the first book in a series. But this one was my favorite one. Every one of Annie’s books gives me all the feels. And this book is no different. It’s bitter sweet because I’m so sad that this is the last book in this series but I cannot wait for the next series to come from Annie (October 🙌🏼!!).

Annie - thank you so much for allowing me the opportunities to keep arc reading for you. It’s been such an honor to be brought on your writing journey with you since your debut, No Control. Thank you for giving us Jude and Cher’s story! 🥹🥰🫶🏼

I would recommend reading reading No Control and Killing Emma before reading this book. All of the characters are the same. This book will ruin some storylines if those books aren't read before this book. All of the books are about stalking, touch her and die, enemies to lovers, and killing. Check the specific trigger warnings. They are slow burn and get spicy.

This book is about Cher and Jude. Cher is Henry's sister, from No Control. Jude is Henry's best friend and nerdy, computer loving sidekick. Jude has never killed anyone. Jude gathers the intel and manipulates all the information. Henry takes the people out or Luca. Henry and Jude's current hit takes them to Las Vegas. That happens to be where Cher lives. Henry and Jude stay decide to stay with Cher. Cher has always been hard-core, tattooed, and rather reclusive.

Henry finds himself on a new mission, trying to figure out Cher. It's clear Cher is up to something but what? Cher doesn't want anyone to discover all her secrets. Cher's been through a lot in her life and that is reflected in her attitude and appearance. No behavior is too extreme or off limits for Cher. Jude begins to think Cher is just a liar and manipulator.

Jude was always the safe choice in the first two books. There is a whole other side that comes out of Jude here. It definitely would take a extreme person to dominate Cher! I do think that allowed Cher to move on from her trauma. The last couple of chapters were very eye opening. I really didn't think Jude had that in him 🩸. I read all of these books in 2 days. I would give them all 5 stars because these are the type of books I enjoy.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Title: The Huntress and Her Hound

Author: Annie Wild
Genre: Dark Romance, Suspense

Rating: ★★★★1/2

Cher has a dark secret and will go to any lengths to protect it, even at the cost of her own life.
To the world—and especially her brother—she appears to be a delicate, innocent woman. When her brother and his best friend, Jude, stay at her place in Vegas, they have no idea of her secret life as a sadist targeting misogynists.

Her carefully hidden demons are discovered by someone unknown, and they’re coming for her. As her life unravels, Jude becomes her unexpected ally and romantic interest. There are just two problems: he’s her brother’s best friend, and he thinks she’s a good girl.

The story is a perfect blend of dark romance and suspense, with a heroine who’s as complex as she is captivating. Cher’s journey through her inner darkness and the intense, forbidden chemistry with Jude makes for a page-turner that’s hard to put down.

Absolutely loved the dynamic between Cher and Jude. Jude is a freak in the sheets and a knight in shining armour, all rolled into one.

Their connection is sizzling and electric, with every encounter leaving you wanting more. The tension between maintaining her secret life and the growing attraction to Jude, who sees her as the perfect, innocent girl, adds a delicious layer of complexity to their relationship.

Annie Wild has crafted a standalone dark romance that’s both gritty and steamy, ensuring that "The Huntress and Her Hound" is a must-read for fans of the genre.

Just a heads up, it’s packed with heavy themes that might be disturbing for some readers, but for those who love a good dark romance, it’s absolutely worth the ride!
