Streams and Schemes #2

Tips and Trysts

Rate this book
A raunchy romantic comedy about a campaign, a camgirl, and the candidate who resisted shooting his shot with her…until she literally got shot.

Cora Flores and Everett Logan wish they’d never met. She’s a camgirl with more piercings than inhibitions, and he’s a polished congressional candidate from a political dynasty. Unfortunately, their best friends are in love, which means this unlikely duo is stuck together for life.

But when a disgruntled voter targets Everett, “for life” suddenly doesn’t seem very long—and Cora takes a bullet for Everett.

Now, Everett is done pretending he’s not obsessed with this brilliant, beautiful camgirl for the sake of his campaign. He’ll do anything to get Cora—like give her outrageous tips during her streams…and offline too. But Cora refuses to be Everett’s dirty secret. Nope. Who would want to be in a forbidden relationship with a gorgeous politician, where they have resort to steamy trysts across the city…

…Okay, maybe her refusal is up for debate.

“There’s nothing about you I would change. There’s nothing about you I want to hide. The person you are is perfect for me—she’s enough for me. The best thing about you, the thing that keeps me obsessed with you, is how much I don’t deserve you. And if you let me, I will spend every day of our lives trying to be good enough for you.” 😩

ARC review!! 🖤🏕️💻🔭🌺🐈‍⬛

dammit i did not want this to end 😭😭😭 RK’s books just keep getting better & better!!!! i love Everett & Cora REAAALLLL bad

𝐓𝐢𝐩𝐬 & 𝐓𝐫𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐬 has been my most anticipated read for the last few months and if my 291 highlights are any indicator, i’d say it was worth the wait. 👏🏾

Cora Flores and Everett Logan wish they’d never met. we see their first interaction in Streams & Schemes (their besties, Valeria & Lander’s book) and i honestly was not fucking with Everett by the end of that scene. i wasn’t sure how he would be able to redeem himself but 𝙍𝙀𝘿𝙀𝙀𝙈 𝙃𝙄𝙈𝙎𝙀𝙇𝙁, 𝙃𝙀 𝘿𝙄𝘿. 🧎🏻 Cora is SO much better than me because idk how she wasn’t like 🏃🏾‍♀️🤸🏾‍♀️🧎🏾‍♀️ within two seconds….. 🥴😮‍💨

on the outside, they seem to be complete opposites. in reality, the two of them compliment each other so well. Cora has been on her own for years due to having shitty parents (𝘚𝘪𝘳𝘪, 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺 𝘔𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘢 𝘣𝘺 𝘏𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘺 𝘚𝘵𝘺𝘭𝘦𝘴), knows exactly what she wants, and is unapologetically herself. Everett also has shitty parents, but is still living up to their “perfect” expectations and is practically suppressing who he truly is. together, they challenge, love unconditionally, and make each other better.

found family is my favorite trope ever and the bond between Valeria/Cora/Essie x Lander/Everett/Dalton is everything! i couldn’t have been happier to have seen them all come together again in the second installment of the series. they love each other down. 🤧 the epilogues made me so happy and it was such a bittersweet feeling turning the last page of the book because i literally miss them all already. 😭

on the surface of 𝐓𝐢𝐩𝐬 & 𝐓𝐫𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐬, you will see a raunchy rom-com about a cam girl and a congressional candidate… at its core, you will find a book layered with themes of privilege, dismantling privilege, disproving the perception of Asian women, exploring sexual desires with your partner as a way of healing, deciding who you want to be and owning it, navigating parental relationships as an adult, and 𝘴𝘰 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦.

i giggled, i blushed, i swooned, and teared up. Everett & Cora’s story was incredible and i can’t wait to see how the series concludes with Dalton & Essie’s book. 🩷🫦🤭

TWs: abuse, anxiety, cheating, classism, gun violence, microaggressions, narcissism, mild physical violence, misogyny, racism, revenge porn, sex work shaming, sexism, slut shaming, stalking (not in a cute way), toxic masculinity

standalone: book 2 in the Streams and Schemes series
final thoughts: Rebecca Kinkade I love you and this beautiful found family you’ve created so much! I was so worried that I hyped this book up in my head way too much to enjoy it like it should be enjoyed… and I’m so happy to say I was WRONG! This book was everything I wanted and more. We got to see all 6 of the besties in action throughout the story and I was so happy to see them all again!

Cora is smart, loyal, and slow to trust. She’s determined to make Everett grovel, beg, and crawl to get a chance with her.
Everett is a golden retriever who doesn’t want to rock the boat. He is so obsessed with Cora he’s willing to do anything and everything for just a shot.
Cora and Everett were simply incredible. I have no words for how perfect they are together. I love they way they compliment each other and push each other to be the best versions of themselves. The epilogues were so sweet and dirty. I can’t wait for book 3 but I know this book and these characters are going to stay with me for a long time.

The hidden secrets and pining and gestures and groveling in this book had me FERAL. I can’t pick a favorite part since I was gasping and giggling through the whole thing.

Also big shoutout for the civics lesson at he beginning and a bit throughout the book because I don’t know anything about anything – THANKS BYE

A lot of things I loved about Streams and Schemes—the MMC dropping a bag on the FMC nonstop, the MCs fighting against all odds to be together, and explorations of class, gender, privilege, and race—I also thoroughly enjoyed about Tips and Trysts. I found Everett and Cora to be perfectly balanced and they did a great job matching each other's freaks LOL.

With that said, a few things I disliked about book 1, I also felt were consistent here as well: the will-they-won't-they journeying beyond a slow burn (in terms of pacing, not on-page timing) and into territory where it was very obvious that they both wanted to and it didn't quite make sense to me why they weren't. I did find Everett to be earnest and endearing for the most part, but he also dragged his feet for something his heart didn't seem to be in entirely in the first place. He was the simp of all simps though so it made up for it! Cora was such an interesting and compelling FMC to journey with. She is so unlike any other FMC I've ever read, and not because she's a cam girl. She was so firm in her convictions and so demanding of respect from every person she met that I admired her.

One thing I didn't love was how the friend group talked about each other and each other's…parts. I know this is a very sex-positive group since all the FMCs in this series are cam girls, but unless they're about to upgrade the group to swinging, I don't really want to read a MMC telling his friend he takes good nudes or a FMC telling her friend she has a small, tight ass. Speaking of small, there is more than one reference to the women in this series being teeny tiny smol sexy fairies and the men being big, tall, so much bigger, and so much taller. I know this is very common in romance novels but it gives me the ick which is very much a me problem! If that's your thing, you will absolutely love this.

Still really loving Kinkade's writing and I'm excited to get to Essie's book!

I effing love Rebecca Kinkade and this series. This book is hot as hell, wicked smart, clever, engaging, and timely. It addresses issues and topics that are relevant today in a skilled and smooth way. There’s no beating you over the head with anything, it’s embedded into the storytelling and characters brilliantly. 🩷 These books are feminist AF, celebrating competence, and truly hilarious. Reading this book was so satisfying! I was left wanting for nothing.

Cora & Everett appear to be total opposites but they aren’t actually. They’re like an evolutionary line, Cora is a few steps ahead, but Everett is on a similar journey of self-discovery and transformation. Yes, they’re hot as hell with the perfect amount of degradation/praise. But the intimacy that develops between them is what keeps me engaged and obsessed. The vulnerability and trust between a couple is what I love in books. Hooking up is easy, trusting your partner and laying yourself bare (mentally & emotionally) *that* is what I’m a simp for.

The friend group gets plenty of attention and the group texts continue to delight! Some of the best scenes are between the guys and in their group chat, like truly crying laughing for me!

I’m very excited about this series and how it pulled me out of a total slump! If you like smart characters, safe kink, hilarious group texts and true ride or die girl friends - this series is for you!! 🩷

Tips and Trysts is SPICY!!!!!!! Yes, SPICY! But it is also funny too! I love a good romcom, books that make me laugh out loud are my favorites. This had humor with the spice. Did I mention there's spice? ;)

Cora is probably one of the smartest persons in Washington D.C. Seriously, the daughter of immigrants, the woman started Harvard at 17 and entered the PHD program at 21. However, men ruin everything. They always have to take what's not there's and Cora ends up on a different path- but one that makes her lots of money! She's a camgirl and a damn good one too. The current thorn in her side though is her best friend's fiance's best friend (lol) - Everett.

Everett is a product of old money and politics. His family has been in politics for generations- his dad is current governor of Virginia. Everett himself is running for a the D.C. seat in Congress. Only, he's not interested in politics. He's definitely interested in Cora though. Would a relationship with a camgirl ruin his chances at a political career?

I loved this book. I really did. Okay yes, there's spice. There's humor. But there's also a realness to the story. It seriously could be an expose on a real relationship in Washington right now. The author did a great job bringing the pressures of being the child of immigrants to the character of Cora. How that affects her with her relationship with her parents, let alone with herself. The on the other hand, we have diving into the privileges of the rich with Everett. How can we break that down?

Well-- I know Cora and Everett can throw some kinky spice at it haha. Also, the side characters are great. We get female friendships often, but it was so cool to see the brotherhood of Everett and his 2 best friends. It was refreshing. I hope we get a 3rd book in this world: looking at you Essie and Dalton.

Thank you to the author for gifting me an ARC for this book. This is my 100% honest review!

Listen......REBECCA KINKADE....you have done it. The way you made this man GROVEL, and I mean on hands and knees kissing feet GROVELING for this woman is unreal. And I ate it all up *chefs kiss*. We love to see it.

I loved the immigrant representation in this book and sense of female power. Even though I was born and raised in the US, I could relate to the pressure that was placed on Cora by her parents to succeed and be perfect. It was a breath of fresh air to see Cora realize that she doesn't have to form to anyone's idea of who she should be, and that she can be successful in however way she chooses. And if the people who claim to love her don't support her, that's their loss.

The banter between Cora and Ev was immaculate. I love love LOVE an enemies-to-lovers trope and this one was so good. I really enjoyed this book and I am so excited for others to read it as well! Thank you again for trusting me with your book and allowing me to read it! This is the first book of Rebecca Kinkade I have read, and I will DEFINITELY be reading everything else she's ever written.

Spice rating: 4/5

Favorite quote (may contain spoilers: read with caution!):

"Yes, you're everything," he reiterates. "But it also means I would give up everything for you." He puts his hands on my cheeks. "There's nothing about you I would change. There's nothing about you I want to hide. The person you are is perfect for me--she's enough for me. The best thing about you, the thing that keeps me obsessed with you, is how much I don't deserve you. And if you let me, I will spend every day of our lives trying to be good enough for you."

Come on....how can you read that and NOT melt.

Tips and Trysts is perfect.
Any expectation I had for it was exceeded, any hope I had surpassed. This book captured me heart and soul.

I am fanatical about the way Kinkade writes strong women with agency and ownership over themselves, their actions, and their ideals. The way she writes without judgement, but steeped in conviction.

T&T is a PERFECT instalment in its series.

I loved it, every word, every minute. I cannot wait to see how much love this book gets. It’s infinitely worthy.

I loved how unapologetically herself Cora was. She never held back and always spoke her mind. Everett didn’t want to change her. Or make her someone else. He gravitated to that side of her. Their banter was so good! And holy hand grenades when the burn caught fire there was no containing it!

dnf 50% — slump so bad not even a pierced man who begs and crawls can do it for me (he wants to become the president of the US tho 👎🏼)

most likely won’t come back to this but the fact that he got pierced in their “enemies” era a month after meeting her and overhearing her pierced ex was the best she ever had? life changing.

tl;dr: Tips and Trysts is very hot, very funny, and also very smart.

What to expect:
📷 Cam girl/politician
💵 Degradation kink
📷 Praise kink
💵 Pay to play
📷 Piercings
💵 Found family
📷 Honestly the funniest group texts between the guys
💵 So many lols, in general

I wasn’t quite sure what Rebecca Kinkade could do to make me like Everett as much as I liked Lander from Streams and Schemes (especially after his behavior in the prior book), and it turns out the answer is *pay for it*. And beg. And also just basically lose his damn mind. That’ll do it, that’s for sure.

There was never any doubt I’d love Cora—and I did—because she’s been a badass from the beginning. I’m just glad Everett became someone who at least came close to deserving her. But I digress.

While a fair amount of this book is Cora and Everett doing it all over the District in interesting and exciting ways, I also feel like I could write an entire thesis on how Kinkade uses sex and intimacy as a metaphor for power and privilege in this series. Like yes, the scenes are hot, and also every time Everett begs, pays for it, or otherwise submits (🍑), he also shares a bit of his privilege with Cora. He theoretically has everything to lose from their relationship (career-wise), and he doesn’t just allow it to happen, he chooses to give it up—to give it to her.

Spend more.
"What is your threshold for enough?" she asks after she shows me her new laptop (which prompted me to say, Surely you could have bought a faster processor, to which she responded, Surely you could save some audacity for the rest of us.)
"When we’ve depleted my trust fund," I answer honestly before I resume editing the pictures I took of me railing her in the Lyndon B. Johnson Memorial Grove on the Potomac.

Anyway, this book is excellent. And if you haven’t yet read Streams and Schemes, I do recommend you do that first—not because it’s necessary to understand what’s going on, but just because it’s also very good. 💖

Let’s be friends on threads and booksta.

Note: I received an ARC of this book.

I am thoroughly obsessed with Everett and Cora 😍 this was the first Rebecca Kinkade book and I am about to go back and read the first book in this steamy rom com cam girl series.

Cora has been hurt before and has closed herself off and become a sassy cam girl who makes men weep for her. Everett is the son of an old money politician and is set to run for congress. How do these two know each other? Well Cora’s best friend Valeria is with Everett’s best friend Lander and one night in a bar they met for the first time and have hated each other since….or so it seems.

This had the PERFECT amount of banter, spice, comedy - everything I look for in a book! The spice in here had me blushing!!! You definitely need to read this romantic comedy because I had a freaking blast!

I have a more definitive review to come, but all I can say is this book is extraordinarily horny and I was living for it.

Update: it’s ✨review time✨

If you saw the politician part, and thought “brother eugh”, please note that the book does have a focus around Everett’s budding journey to politics, but it’s not boring in the least and is well worth the read.

Now a few thoughts:
• this book is SPICYYYYYY (like I felt like I needed to stand under a cold shower while I was reading), and my jaw was in a perpetual state of being dropped whenever Everett dirty talked

• if you love sarcastic, and quick to comeback characters, this book will be your best friend

• Everett is down SO BAD, like the dude will not stop throwing money at her and it’s literally the best

• Cora is a camgirl, but whip smart, and not afraid to stand up for herself

• the friendship between the guys and gals is literally one of my favourite parts and I love them so much (also the codes sent me)

• I swear, Rebecca Kinkade has the BEST revenge scenarios in these books

Basically, if you couldn’t tell, I absolutely loved reading this one, and think if it sounds like something you’re interested in, 100% add it to your TBR (highly highly suggest reading Streams & Schemes first for the full effect).

I absolutely loved Tips and Tryst by Rebecca Kinkade! The characters felt so real and relatable, like people you’d want to grab a coffee with (or maybe a drink, given some of the wild moments in the book). The plot had the perfect mix of humor, heart, and just enough drama to keep me turning the pages late into the night. Rebecca’s writing style is so sharp and witty—there were moments I actually laughed out loud. The humor felt natural, and the romance had just the right amount of tension and chemistry. This book is such a fun, feel-good read, and I honestly didn’t want it to end. Highly recommend if you’re looking for something that’ll make you smile and swoon!

Can I give this 6 stars? Because I gave Streams and Schemes a well-deserved 5 stars (I just reread it in anticipation of receiving the ARC for Tips and Trysts and stand by that rating) and somehow this was even better.

I love this group of characters. If you’re reading this review and you haven’t read any of the books yet, I’m going to recommend you start with S&S. This is technically a standalone but Cora and Everett meet in the first book and I think you’ll enjoy their story arc more if you go back to the beginning. Plus that’s a great book and there are 6 characters whose lives intertwine so you might as well start with the right base.

If you have read the first book, you know C&E had sparks from the beginning and he really blew them up. Cora knows who she is but she needs to heal. Ev needs some help finding his way. These are two intelligent people who respect each other and who (hallelujah!) communicate with each other. No 3AB but plenty of intrigue to keep it interesting.

And the spice is right up there. He’s got a beautifully dirty mouth. Are their kinks things I want in my life? Hell no. But it’s sure fun to read! There were also several spots where I laughed out loud.

Rebecca Kinkade has done it again! Tips and Trysts healed something in me I didn’t even know was broken. This book bent me over and rawdogged my feelings. And I STILL LOVE THEM, YOUR HONOUR.

As the second installment in the Streams and Schemes universe, this one had me tied up and begging for more nevermind in a chokehold.
From Cora and Everett’s laugh-out-loud banter to steam so hot my sweat was sweating, Tips and Trysts is your next flirty, filthy, feel-good read.

Now let’s talk character development. Rebecca somehow manages to make her characters feel real. Like, “I’m emotionally attached and mildly concerned they don’t know I exist” real. The growth arc is chefs kiss. She gives flawed, messy, lovable humans the grace to evolve, and it slaps every time.

And oh, the spice… The spice had me audibly gasping. Slipping off chairs. Fanning myself like a Victorian widow. Cora and Everett have enough sexual tension to power a small town, and watching it explode across the pages was an absolute delight. These two were already oozing - OOZING, I TELL YOU - chemistry in Streams and Schemes, and now… Full scale SPICE. Someone call the fire department and make sure they send the hot ones, plssss.

From now on, every book I read is going to have to fight tooth and nail to live up to this level of hot, hilarious, heartfelt perfection. Rebecca, please never stop ruining me. I love you.

I have been lucky enough to be an ARC reader for Streams and Schemes AND Tips and Trysts. All I can say is THANK YOU REBECCA because I don’t know if I was truly living before reading these. Nothing gets me as quite as invested as Rebecca’s writing does.
I thought I adored Lander after S&S, but it turns out Everett is THE GUY FOR ME (although I must say I cannot WAIT to read from Dalton’s POV).
These books are the most perfect mix of serious and FUN. They have the greatest banter I’ve ever read, but also the most wonderful character arcs and plotlines and MEANING. I am obsessed!!!!!

Holy shittttt y'all. There was a Drea that existed before reading Tips and Trysts and a Drea that exists after. I was not fully prepared for what this book would awaken in me lmaoooo.

It's not enough to say that Everett and Cora were hot. That's like, the bare fucking minimum for this series I fear. They were transcendent. Unhinged. Filthy beyond imagination. Diabolical. Soulmates.

Their dynamic was wild and so fucking fun - degradation has never worked as much for me before this lmao. I think I really enjoyed it because they were both on the giving and receiving end of it and because of course there was some praise mixed in. The shit they said to each other was entirely unhinged and I was SO HERE FOR IT. I was laughing, gasping, and just having a grand old time. To be a fly on the wall.... lmao.

Cora was such a badass and unlike any fmc I have ever read. I didn't know if I wanted to be her or be with her. She was beyond intelligent, confident, and so damn perceptive. Such an incredible female character to read about.

Everett???? My man?? The way I did not expect anything that he did or said in this book. He was wildly unpredictable and I LOVED HIM SO MUCH. The way he could switch between being utterly pathetic and vulnerable for Cora to being dominant was hot hot hot. ALSO, THE TIPPING?!? I died every single time. I was entirely obsessed with him, Cora, and their dynamic. I wish they were looking for a third so it could be me.

The ending with the revenge plot was so fucking satisfying. Ugh you love to see shitbags get what they deserve.

Rebecca Kinkade has found a forever fan in me. She not only writes the best smut I have ever read, but she writes unique, complex characters who contain multitudes. They feel so real and like people I'd wanna be friends with.

Anyway, I loved this book so much lol. Already about 20% into the next book and I'm so excited about it, but also deeply sad that I will be finishing this series soon.

Not to be dramatic, but you will have to bury me with this book. Cora has been my obsession since Streams and Schemes and this book only enhanced my infatuation. I absolutely love banter/shit talking and let me tell you - Cora and Everett deliver all that and then some 😉

Cora’s sharp tongue and Everett’s cockiness thickens the sexual tension in the best way. Spice in this book is on another level; i’m talking Carolina Reaper, baby 🥵

My favorite cam girl (sorry, Valeria 😭) and the hottest politician DC has ever seen are THE power couple and you won’t wanna miss how she gets him on his knees 😈😏

This was a quick read for me. If you enjoy silly romances with smut, this might just be for you.

This personally wasn’t a book that I was able to take seriously given the plot LOL.

It unfortunately didn’t stand out to me in anyway but I hope u all enjoy this much more than me.

Thank you to Rebecca for sending me the e-arc 🌟

Once again, this series DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! This couple and this book were EVERYTHING!! Cora was such an incredibly strong, confident, and self-assured FMC! I loved how she challenged Everett and yet still supported him while he worked for his dreams! And Everett was such an amazingly beautiful MMC; infinitely supportive, emotionally mature, communicative, and just overall so wonderfully strong and protective! These two were absolute perfection together, and the story had all the perfect twists, turns, and intrigue! And the side characters were, again, amazing! I love the healthy friendship examples that we get in these books, especially between the men; I feel like it isn't as common to see such emotionally open male friendships, and these books have them!! And these girls are the epitome of a strong, confident girl gang! And I am not overstating things when I say that I am FERAL waiting for Dalton's book!! Overall, this was an incredible book with the perfect blend of plot, character growth, and SPICE!! 5 stars, 4.5 chili peppers
