A good resource for adults of all ages . . .

The author has written a well-documented resource for individuals in search of guidance on how to live a healthy, balanced life as they age.

Tips on gut health, controlling stress, and nurturing a strong faith journey are spotlighted. The information about nutrition, exercise, brain health, and a positive mental outlook is especially helpful. In the Appendix, the author provides vital advice on fall prevention because this issue becomes a major health concern as the human body ages.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher through JustRead Publicity Tours. All of my opinions and thoughts shared here are solely my own.

This helpful guidebook takes readers through various areas of their lives, showing how to make wise choices in order to live more fully and be healthier physically, mentally, and spiritually. Most of the material here was not new to me, but I found the book handy to have all the material gathered together and arranged in an accessible way, which will aid readers in finding the information and applying it. The author shares personal stories and experiences and gleans practical applications to better oneself from lessons she learned along life’s way. The book is not just for older people desiring to remain youthful, but could be used by any adult to improve healthy habits and live a better life. Much of it involves knowing and planning. Her tips will help readers achieve success in their goals. The book could be used as a group study, which could also hold each other accountable to make desired changes. I received a copy from Celebrate Lit. All opinions are my own.

12 Ways to Age Gracefully is the first book I have read by Susan Neal, but it will not be my last. I have already downloaded several of her books that she recommends in this book.

12 Ways to Age Gracefully is a book I highly recommend to everyone. Susan Neal experienced a major health crisis that led to her writing this book. She starts by explaining that people always tell her she looks a decade younger than she is. She states, "I am a science geek and love to research ways to improve my brain, bones, and body so I look and feel younger. Now I share those secrets with you." While they truly are not secrets, she does share things that most people have not heard or thought of. The only reason they are not new to me is because I have been working with a functional medicine doctor, and this book reaffirmed what my doctor has been telling me. I devoured the first half of this book and the useful information Ms. Neal provides.

12 Ways to Age Gracefully discusses many topics. Some of them are the foods we eat, keeping our gut healthy, being physically active, ways to keep our brain young and so much more. I highlighted so many things on my Kindle, but it is being finicky, so I can't share more quotes.

While I loved the first half of the book, and there was valuable information throughout the book, the book started to feel long. There were several points that Ms. Neal reiterated and I got the point and got tired of it being repeated. Regardless, I ordered a physical copy of this book for me (so I can highlight and find my notes easier) and one for my mother-in-law. I will repeat, I think this is a book everyone should read at least once.

Thank you to JustReads Publicity and the author for the opportunity to read this book. I was not required to provide a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I am delighted to have had the chance to review the book "12 Ways to Age Gracefully" by RN Susan U. Neal. In each chapter, Susan U. Neal shares 12 suggestions taken from her personal experiences and her work in the medical field. The book points out the importance of nutrition, offering food lists and highlighting foods to avoid. It also touches upon the importance of maintaining good gut health, staying physically active, preserving brain health, managing toxins, hormones, stress, a positive mindset, emotional health, and spiritual well-being.

Some key takeaways that hit home with me include the importance of being mindful of the toxins present in our food intake, the benefits of simplifying our diet, the necessity of making healthy choices to age well, the link between stress and cravings for sugary foods, the role of proper footwear in preventing injuries, and the need for intentional fitness efforts.

I appreciate Susan Neal's guide as it aligns with my current life stage, prompting me to make positive changes for better health. I intend to reread the book, compiling goals from each chapter. By doing this, it will help me stay on track and keep all goals in mind.

If you or someone you know is in their 40s, 50s, 60s, or beyond, "12 Ways to Age Gracefully" could be a thoughtful gift idea.

The overarching message of this insightful non-fiction book is that we hold the reins to our health journey, with the understanding that while self-reliance is crucial, seeking support through prayer can also aid us on the path to well-being. Now, rather than later, is the time to be in charge of your health, and "12 Ways to Age Gracefully: How to Look and Feel Younger" is a key starting point to steer readers in the right direction of attaining lifelong health at every age.

I was very excited to read 12 Ways to Age Gracefully by Susan U. Neal! I’ve still got a high schooler, but I’m getting to be a woman of a certain age. I’d like to spend my golden years zippy and full of pep, not stove-up and confined to a rocking chair. Now that I’ve read her book, I wish I’d had it five, ten years earlier!

It’s not so much that there’s a wealth of new information in this book. It’s more the way Neal divides it and presents it. She weaves her personal experience in with well-researched scientific fact, and the benefits she’s seen from putting this information to use are very encouraging.

My only wee complaint with the book is that it sometimes came across as a bit preachy. Not in the Christian sense – the book is geared toward the Christian community, and I’m fine with that. I appreciate health and wellness information that’s faith-based. What didn’t sit well with me was reading a discussion about how prepared, processed foods that taste good may seem convenient and cheap, and the healthy, unprocessed foods may seem like more of an expense and more effort, but we should consider it an investment in our health. I understand that, I really do. But when there are folks in my home state of Louisiana who are paying more for home insurance than they are their mortgage, and when the cost of everything is going through the roof, being reminded that I can be healthier if I’m willing to shell out extra money (that may or may not be in the budget) just hits wrong.

But that’s my small gripe, and your mileage may vary. It didn’t take away from the fact that this book is chock-full of helpful information, and it’s one I will probably buy in hard copy so I can refer back to it. I can’t implement everything Neal suggests, but anything I can do to improve my health for me now and me in the future is a good thing. I’m glad to have solid guidance from someone who’s used these techniques and can testify that they work!

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from JustRead Blog Tours. I was not required to leave a review. All opinions here are mine, and I don't say nice things about books I don't actually like.

I recently turned 43 and have struggled with health issues my entire life but now that I am an empty-nester I am feeling the pull to take better care of myself. Some of my health issues are unavoidable and are things I was born with, but I do believe that they can be exacerbated by poor health choices. Since my birthday I have been thinking a lot about aging and decided it was time to start taking care of me. That’s where 12 Ways to Age Gracefully comes in.

A lot of the information in this book is what we’ve all heard but I think it’s a good refresher. There was nothing in this book that was groundbreaking but what it did for me was helped me take stock. Where am I doing ok on my health journey and where do I need improvement? I like the questions at the end of each chapter that help with self-assessments and give you a clear focus on that chapter's topics.

It’s clear that the author is a medical professional and also has personal experiences, which made reading this book easier than other diet and wellness books out there. I appreciate the fact that the author puts in her own personal experiences in with the scientific data that backs up her claims. A lot of the information is repetitive, but I like that because it really drives home these points.

I was able to breeze through this book quickly and then go back and reference parts that needed a little more focus. This book is laid out very simply and makes going back to reference it a breeze. I think this is a great reference and a solid start to aging gracefully.

*I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book which I received from the author/publisher through JustRead Tours. All views and opinions expressed are completely honest, and my own.

As a woman who is starting to notice signs of aging as I leave my child-bearing years, I decided to read this book and see if I could pick up any tips that would possibly make a difference in my life. I found a lot of it encouraging. The diet she suggests is basically what we eat—although I had to chuckle at a difference in her thinking and mine. She says to eat foods that can be recognized as coming from the farm. Then, she says not to consume dairy, and instead she drinks almond or coconut milk. Hmm. In my opinion, cow milk is a lot closer to the original! But then, our fresh dairy products from our own cows are a completely different food from commercial dairy. Otherwise, in my opinion, her dietary suggestions were right on. The other tips she gives for good health are also helpful, such as eliminating toxins, balancing blood sugar, and exercising. On the other hand, she is a proponent of yoga, which I have a big question about, and I also noticed a couple of other things I wondered about. One had to do with our spirits being with God until birth, and the other promoted meditating with the Lord by emptying your mind and focusing on your breathing. To me, that smacks of Eastern religions, and I would be hesitant to try it. One more thing that irked me a little was her frequent promoting of her own books and courses. So, while I did appreciate a lot of her tips and this book encouraged me to continue to work towards maintaining good health as I get older, there were a few points that I didn’t enjoy, as is often the case with a book about health and well being.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author, and these are my honest thoughts about it.

12 Ways to Age Gracefully: How to Look and Feel Younger caught my attention. It’s the first book I’ve read by this author, and I was drawn to it because I desire to age gracefully.

The author offers valuable insights and tips on how to make simple lifestyle changes that have a big impact. The book covers a range of topics, including boosting energy levels, improving brain health, managing stress better, and feeling good about oneself. It encourages readers to choose vitality over disease, joy over depression, and youthfulness over listlessness.

What I love most about this book is that it doesn’t push expensive products. Instead, it provides practical tools and advice that anyone can follow. Neal’s writing style is clear and engaging, making the book easy to read and understand. Each chapter is filled with useful tips and actionable steps that can help you look and feel younger.

The book also touches on fulfilling your God-appointed purpose with renewed vigor, adding a spiritual dimension that I found uplifting.

While the advice is solid, some readers might find it repetitive. However, the overall message is empowering and motivational, making it a worthwhile read.

If you’re looking for ways to age gracefully and maintain a youthful spirit, this book is a great place to start. I found it to be a helpful guide that can truly change how a person approaches aging.

Note: I received a copy of this book from the author and was not required to write a positive review.

This has a ton of information in it. It will challenge you but will also push you. Hard. In a pretty tough-love sort of way.

I feel like there is a rough balance of medical advice and “seek medical advice from your doctor.” That is a bit disconcerting to me – either the information here is applicable or you need to rely on your doctor to tell you the things herein. It was a bit weird to me. By the time I had gotten a quarter of the way through, I felt whiplash from the back and forth of it and began to feel like it wasn’t a book I could use to help me age better.

This is a book that is packed with both anecdotal information and research. It could be helpful for someone struggling to figure out what they want to do in particular areas of their well-being. As a straight-through read, it was tough and difficult. Not really the way I would recommend someone utilize this book. Also be prepared for a lot of “I also wrote this book…” references, making it feel like an advertisement, even if that goes hand-in-hand with the topic being written about.

If you are one who really is trying to figure out all-the-ways in being healthy, this could be a good choice for you. It was too much information thrown at me and included too many variables for me to find it helpful. But, check it out. It might be just what you are looking for.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

Sometimes God gives you a book that is planned for a certain time in your life. This one was perfectly placed into my life for such a time as this. At 46, I am traveling through a health crisis of my own. Within the last month, I was put on blood pressure medicine and told I have a large, highly suspicious nodule on my thyroid (I am waiting for more tests and probably surgery). I have changed my diet and exercise routine and increased my time with the Lord. I have seen multiple, unbelievable changes in other aspects of my health in just a few weeks.
This book gives hope. Starting from the introduction, the journey the author took and the scripture shared were inspiring. This book is a complete look at health, from physical health and gut health, to mental health and spiritual health. It includes a lot of science which makes me like it even more. I think I will probably read through this a couple of times because there is a lot of information. Each chapter contains a personal and practical application section with questions for better processing that I found very helpful.

I definitely feel blessed to have been given access to this book at this time in my life. I think it is a great resource for the healthy changes that I am trying to implement into my life. Thank you to the author and Celebrate Lit for the opportunity to read and review this book.

12 Ways to Age Gracefully: How to Look and Feel Younger by author Susan U. Neal, RN, MBA, MHS, is a Nonfiction, Christian Living, Health book. The author emphasizes faith and inspiration in her advice. I really appreciated that. She offers practical tips and counsel on a multitude of things in a clear manner.

Covering topics of eating right, exercising, brain health, hormones, stress, physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental health, and life balance, there is something for everyone in this educational book. The author has included science for more in depth information. Her style is open, upfront, and easy to understand.

There is a lot of information to absorb in the healthy book. It needs to be read slowly. Concluding each chapter are summary, life application, and personal reflection questions. The author suggests scripture memorization and prayer, which I agree with very much. Her advocation of Christian yoga gave me pause. I have never heard of that. It sounds like an oxymoron to me.

Overall, I enjoyed the author’s thoughts and gleaned useful information. I would recommend this book. Mature women would benefit most from reading it, but younger ones may want to take a look at what’s ahead for them. It gets a 4 out of 5 star rating from me. A copy was provided by Celebrate Lit, but these are my honest words.

This inspirational book is divided into twelve major sections, each focusing on a specific topic for improving one’s health as we age. I was initially drawn to this book because I thought the focus would be more on the mental and emotional aspects of aging and how the Christian faith can help in these areas. The book did cover these aspects, but not until the second half. The first six chapters were devoted to physical health. While much of this advice was useful and applicable, I found that some of the chapters, while realistic and supported by statistics, to be discouraging with numerous mentions of how harmful the food supply is and all of the environmental and other toxins we need to avoid. I did like how the author recommended seeking out food sources as God intended, in their most natural state. While I did not agree with all of the listed dietary recommendations, there is a lot of knowledge to be gained from the vast amount of information provided, especially if you are seeking guidelines for healthy eating and living. And, of course, always check with your own health professionals.

I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher via Celebrate Lit. A positive review was not required and these are my honest opinions.

I really enjoy Non-Fiction Biblically Encouraging books. 12 Ways to Age Gracefully: How to Look and Feel Younger by Susan U. Neal is the latest in this genre that I had the opportunity to read.

I have to say that this book is very encouraging. I am at that "age and stage" in life where health issues are popping up and slowing me down. I have been on a path of a more Natural way to be healthy and Susan U Neal shows the reader just how to do this. Susan addresses issues such as gut health, how to detoxify our body, and how to be stronger so that we can prevent falls as we age. The information about what to eat is truly a huge factor in our health lifestyle. The book shows that Susan U Neal did extensive research for herself as she went through health issues. I really appreciate how Susan shows that aging doesn't mean your body cannot be regain health and you could be stronger then before. The knowledge and resources contained in this book are invaluable to the readers!! I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who needs encouragement on getting and staying healthy as you age in life! WONDERFUL BOOK!

Author Susan Neal writes a book full of great suggestions and ideas. Written in a very simple, easy to read style, she gives us 12 chapters on 12 different ways to age gracefully. Most of her dietary suggestions I agree with. Of course nobody is cookie cutter, so not everything is right for everybody however her basic theme of eating healthy and clean is very good.

Neal does bring in the spiritual side of health; the God side as this book is written from the Christian perspective. She especially stresses how important the Christian faith is regarding emotional and mental health. I appreciated that. She is an advocate of Christian yoga, which I personally haven’t settled on yet. At one point she talks about emptying our minds in meditation, which for me goes against biblical standards of filling our minds with God’s word. However, that was the only “blip”.

Overall, this can be a very useful guide to eating properly, especially as we age and I recommend it if you are looking for ways to improve your health.

This book contains a wealth of information for those of us in our latter years. Neal gives insights into everything from nutrition to stress to toxins. She has information on genetic factors as well as brain health, including reducing the chance for dementia.

My favorite part of the book was on managing our mindset. Neal gives practical steps to change thoughts and maintain a positive attitude. I like that she encourages journaling as a way to reveal patterns of thought, the first step to identifying thoughts that need to be transformed.

There is so much information in this book I was a bit overwhelmed. I realize I need to take the information contained and work on it bit by bit. I really appreciate the tips and questions at the end of every chapter to help us be intentional in our efforts. I recommend this book as one to help plan for healthy and rewarding latter years.

12 Ways to Age Gracefully: How to Look and Feel Younger" by Susan u.Neal is an easy to understand book about taking care of our bodies, Spiritually and Emotionally and Physically. This book shouldn't be read in 2 time periods like I did ( last night and this morning) for this review. The author offers practical advice, but at times while reading this book I was thinking if you did everything she suggested you had to have lots of money. She really pushes seeing your dr and having lots of medical tests. I really like that she uses memorizing Biblical Passages and Journaling and Prayer as part of aging gracefully. The author shares a lot of her own health journey in this book. I like that at the end of each chapters she gives a summary of each item that was talked about in that chapter and questions that each reader should personally ask and apply to themselves.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and Celebrate Lit and these opinions are my own.

The author is an RN with other degrees in health and wellness so I knew I would receive good information. All twelve chapters were full of great advice on the body, mind and spirit. Not so good foods to stay away from with emphasis on God’s good foods, natural, unprocessed foods found in nature. Weight loss information, moving our bodies through exercise, reducing stress, improving balance, mental health, keeping our brains young, positive attitudes, and spending time on our spiritual journey. All of this and much more in these one hundred and eighty eight pages.
At the end I found information on preventing falls, which I greatly needed. This is a book that I’ll be referring back to many times.

I enjoyed this book especially since it is geared toward my age group. As we age some of us begin to worry about our looks. I liked the information about eating right , exercising and doing volunteer work. The author also includes how to make sure we are spiritually healthy.

The book is encouraging and well written. This would be a nice gift to someone who is beginning to think about how they are getting older. Be sure and grab a copy of the book for yourself as well. We need to remember that as we age we still have value.

I enjoyed reading this book. I found it practical and informative. I am 59 and facing senior years with more excitement than trepidation.

Neal is a nurse and quite knowledgeable about matters such as nutrition and menopause. This is practical stuff with practical exercises included.

I give 4 stars instead of 5 because of her emphasis on yoga. I don't agree with her assessment of yoga being a good activity for Christian believers. Its close association with Hindu spirituality is hard to miss so I avoid any association with it.

Other than the previous paragraph, this book is great advice for those of us heading into the final decades of our lives.

Susan Neal's excellent new book on aging gracefully is research-based and practical. She fought her own health crisis with ten diagnoses and two surgeries. Doctors could not heal her, so she--an RN with a master's degree in health sciences--decided to learn how to regain her health. Her counsel is science-based and compelling. I can't recommend this book enough!

Registered Nurse and Health Care Professional Susan Neal explores 12 ways to age gracefully-in body, mind and spirit- in this new book. I love her introduction as she encourages readers to join her on the journey of slowing the aging process. "While we can't go back in time-and our bodies will inevitably age-we can maintain energy and even improve our health as we face each new day and live well into our golden years... "

The suggestions in this book probably aren't new to you and frankly they aren't easy to do most days; but the alternative is to not have good health, energy or live a functional, independent life. I like that she includes Christian aspects about health and wellness in this book and why it's important to protect and take care of the body that God gave us.

Each chapter includes her 12 suggestions taken from her own personal experiences and from helping others in the medical field. She talks about the importance of nutrition and includes food lists and foods to avoid. She talks about the importance of good gut health, being physically active, brain health, toxins, hormones, stress, mindset, emotional health and spiritual health.

I like that at the end of each chapter she includes personal and practical applications so as readers we can think more about the chapter and educate others and apply what we've learned.

As a certified group fitness instructor with special certifications with active older adults; I enjoyed reading this book and definitely agree with everything she shared. These tips are something we should all strive to do on a daily basis regardless of age. I highly recommend reading this book if you are wanting to have a long, fulfilling, healthy life!

Aging well doesn’t happen by accident. As I move into my sixth decade, I’m learning that if I want to remain able to do the things I enjoy doing, I must be intentional about taking good care of myself. This book offers an easy-to-read, practical guide for thriving in this phase of life. I appreciate how the author has covered the whole person, from diet to mental health, to life purpose and spiritual considerations.

If you are looking for one book that will guide you to better habits in every area of life, I highly recommend this book.
