The Bloody Decades Trilogy #2

Deviant Souls & Bloody Murder

Rate this book
Every year on June 19th, the Sculptor of Death―one of the most notorious serial killers of the 60s and 70s―strikes with a remarkable murder, staged like a masterpiece of macabre art.

But he’s not the only one who can stage things…

Daisy Burton is his biggest admirer. She has been watching him for years and knows exactly who he is. When she gets accepted into the art academy where he works as a sculpture professor, their story can finally begin.

The masked murderer, who goes by the name Lester Gilbert, has no idea his world is about to be thrown off its axis when his obsessive star student forces herself onto his path.

A delicate dance of push and pull unfolds. A game of cat and mouse.

Despite the harrowing past that made him, Lester can’t help falling into her trap. The talented, smart-mouthed nymphomaniac becomes his drug, his newfound bloodlust. Just like she intended, he develops a fascination with her all the same.

Together they dive into a dark abyss of lust and forbidden desires, as they let their souls intwine like the threads of a rope. A happily ever after was never in the cards for him. But now that he has it in his grasp, will he risk it all for a ghost from his past or hold on and never let go?

Phew where to start?? Can I say this book was worth the long wait????? Let’s recap on this part, the first book in the trilogy Bloody Fingers and Red Lipstick came out in December of last year. This book is set to release soon but that wait?? Dolores is forgiven after I finished this beauty. This book and trilogy is for my dark romance people but like always read the triggers!!! I highly recommend reading the books in order as some character relationships won’t make sense otherwise!! 🖤🖤

Now to the actual review!! I’m so happy with the relationship between characters. 🥹🥹 the relationship between Daisy and her parents Dubh and Lucile (my babies). 🥹🥹🥹 Their relationship with her and her relationship with her uncles. Ugh I love it!!! Also, can we talk about how Dolores has once again created a spitfire fierce FMC once again??? I absolutely love Daisy so much and she cracked me up through the whole book. 😂😂 This book helped me and Daisy just made the days easier so I’ll miss this book for that alone.

Don’t even get me started on the relationship between Lester and Daisy. 👀 oh those two crazy psychos who fit so perfectly together, literally and figuratively! 😉 They’re so crazy for each other and are def soulmates!! I love how he treats her and just helps show her that yes she’s crazy but not abnormally so 🤷🏻‍♀️ she just needed him is all. Daisy with Lester?? Chef’s kiss, I just love how she helped him and the way their relationship developed so naturally for them!! I’m obsessed with these two and genuinely love their love.

I feel empty now that I’ve finished the book but also super excited for the next book. I’m also super proud of Dolores for this one 😍😍 so freakin good. Thank you again for sending me your arc in exchange for an honest review. Also, I will always recommend Dolores for anyone starting out in dark romance. She eases you into that world and you’ll hopefully love it. 🖤

My my my 😭 Dolores has outdone herself again and I’m not surprised!

Daisy just needed someone to match her freak, and boy did she pick a good one in Lester 🤭

This is for my dark romance girlies.

⚠️CHECK YOUR TRIGGER WARNINGS⚠️

This book was a roller coaster read. It was a thickie, but so worth it.

We meet Daisy the Nympho & Lester the Professor, with a dark side to him he only relishes in once a year.

These two collide and MAN. When i tell you Lester bring out the CRAZY in Daisy… oh? Just you wait.

This book was filled with all the things I love. Flaming hot smut, thriller aspect, & emotional vulnerability from both characters.

This is probably the spiciest MF Ibook I’ve read in a LOOOOONG TIME!

Had the privilege to read this as a Beta reader thank you Dolores.
What a book! Right from the first page you are into the plot. Daisy is just incredible. She is true to herself and will not apologise for it. The things she goes through in her early teens, I think captures teenage years perfectly for most girls. And the way she is obsessed with Lester and things she does 🥵😅… it’s amazing to see an FMC like this first.
Lester… this man is just swoon worthy. He goes through so much trauma which leads him to be who he becomes. But how he lets Daisy help him overcome some of it is beautiful.
“We’re the mirrors to each others souls”.
Also it’s set in the 70s! Absolutely adore it!
The time jump chapters are wonderfully written and fit so well with the present day chapters. It was incredible to see Dubh and Lucy again aswell as the others. Also if you love Dubh as much as me, wait until he meets Lester 🤣.
Seeing them as parents just melted me and one particular chapter with them had me howling 🤣.
For such a big book it’s so fast paced, I could not put it down, I’m truly in love with them. But I think Daisy is my favourite FMC ever! The spice in this book is 5 stars🌟and the plot as always for Dolores books is amazing.
Please give this book a read you will not regret it. But I do recommend reading Bloody Fingers & Red Lipstick first. You will not be disappointed ❤️

I'm giving this book all the stars and all the chili peppers! This was incredibly good. I loved reading Daisy and Lester's story. Daisy is absolutely unhinged and a fun FMC. Lester is mysterious and misunderstood, but totally loveable. If you enjoy dark romance with a lot spicy scenes, this one is for you. I'm talking chapters of those moments... Please check the TW list ahead of time because there are several moments and actions throughout the book that are hard to read. The characters have very complex histories and I think it does help give the readers an understanding into why they think and behave certain way though. I really enjoyed getting to see glimpses of Lucy and Dubh from the previous book. I adore them, so it was nice to see them as parents this time around. I highly recommend this book and series for dark romance fans. I have no idea how the author does it, but I'm always blown away by her stories! Thank you to the author for allowing me to read and review early :)

Holy smokes, Dolores Lane can write!! This is the second book in the trilogy. Whilst it can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading book 1 first as some of the characters and relationships won’t make sense otherwise.

I loved everything about this book, I was hooked from page 1. The writing is beautiful, the characters are well developed, the plot was engaging and the spice was spicing!!!

Daisy was an amazing FMC. She was sassy and also a bit delulu but omg was she perfect! Her relationship with her parents and uncles were just everything. And I loved how unhinged she was. Her insults are the best, made me actually laugh out loud several times.

Lester. Oh lester. First off, he’s a cat person – instant brownie points from me! Secondly, that dark, dangerous but also sexy professor thing. Yes please!

Loved that Dubh and Lucille make an appearance. Dubh is just the perfect dad. What he will do for his daughter even when he’s mad at her. Adorable. I mean if burying b0dies is adorable but ya know..

The spice scenes were something else. I actually found the build up was more intense than when they actually do the deed. The anticipation had me clenching my thighs in parts, especially the classroom scene.. phew!! Lets just say my bf had a very good time that night 😉

This is genuinely up there in my fav book list. If you are partial to a dark romance and use trigger warnings as a shopping list, these books are for you!

Some of my fav quotes:

“He could put a cigarette out on my tongue and I’d say thank you, sir.”

“I’m not sure if the next few minutes will result in me killing a guy or getting fu**ed against a tree. Either way, fun.”

“I’m going to fu**ing tear you apart little nymph. Now open that pretty mouth and choke on your professor’s c**k. “

“It’s like I’ve been stuck in space without an oxygen tank, and you’re the only thing to breathe life into me. I no longer feel alive when you’re not near.”

Serial Killer Professor meets a Nymphomaniac Student who is obsessed with him, what can go wrong? This slice of darkness makes morally grey look angelic, and I loved it.

Daisy knows what she wants and she isn't afraid to take it. She's stalked her crush for years, breaks in to watch him sleep, knows his secrets, and will do anything to make him notice her. She will manipulate, blackmail, seduce and threaten to get what she wants, and she wants Lester.

By day Lester is a respected arts professor, but he has a dark past, and as a method to heal he uses his alter ego to get his revenge once a year by murdering a deserving victim.

When their paths merge Lester thinks Daisy is an innocent albeit mouthy student, but he soon realises he's caught in her trap, mixed up with lustful forbidden desire, and a lethal obsession and a dark bond.

Fantastic plot, so much spice and a dark and dangerous love story. Daisy's personality jumps off the page with enthusiasm, and I loved seeing the power she had. The backdrop of the 70's fit so well and I loved all the pop culture nods. Another fantastic romance of unhinged but fated soulmates.

“Don’t tell me I have a bad influence on you, Professor.”
“How would you like me to lie down for you, Professor? You have permission to touch me.”
“You want to dance with the Devil? Then let’s dance, little nymph.”

Well-written and an amazing continuation of the first book in the series, Bloody Fingers & Red Lipstick.

I loved Daisy as a character from the first pages. She knew what she wanted and wasn’t afraid to get it.

Lester was a really interesting character, and I loved how sweet he was towards Daisy. The flashback scenes added depth to him as a character.

The relationship between Daisy and Lester was so well-written. I loved the slow burn and forbidden love elements—they really were a perfect match for each other. I enjoyed the jumps between timelines and how they revealed aspects of both their pasts.

It was great to see Dubh and Lucy from BF&RL again. I really enjoyed their story, and it was wonderful to see them together as parents. Dubh is such a sweetheart in his own dark and twisted way.

The storyline kept me hooked from beginning to end, and I couldn’t put the book down. The plot twist towards the end was something I didn’t see coming.
I can’t wait to read more!

Please check the trigger warnings before reading!

Okay, guys, I don't care what you think about this one, but IT IS A 5/5, A 10/10, A 100/100, WHATEVER YOU WANT!🫠

Lester, my love. I mean, come on, I need a dom like him, a sweet and talented, and crazy as fuck man. He's everything to me.

Daisy is crazy and I love her, I love her vibe and her energy, I love who she's. She knows what she wants, and she will do everything to get it.

Having Dubh back? SCREAMING. THAT'S MY MAN.
Okay, I'm sorry, I tried to calm down, but this book hit me in the face, and I loved it. Like, I really loved it.

Dolores is the freaking best for me, and I will always support that girl and her books. She's my fucking muse.

So please. Now you saw how addicted I'm, run for this book. Please, trust me. You will not regret it, it's bloody fucking perfect.

Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐.5/5
Spicy content 🌶🌶🌶🌶/5

I received this book as an arc, and oh my goodness, I am so thankful that I did.

This book is absolutely fantastic! In this book, we follow Daisy, who is utterly obsessed with her art professor. However, he isn't all he appears to be.

This book has everything I never knew that I needed. Dolores knows what she is doing when it comes to spice and balancing that with love, drama, torture, and everything in between.
Daisy has been through so much, but my god, does it not change how much of a badass she is. And Lester has been through so much, too. I know this might sound strange, but it is refreshing to see the man be the one that goes through a traumatic event, not just the FMC.

Please do heed the trigger warnings in this book and remember your mental health matters.

I am so frikken excited to see where the next book goes.
If you haven't already, you need to add this book to your tbr!

I need to start this off my saying I quite literally devoured this book in less than than 24 hours . This book had me feeling like I was on an emotional roller coaster. I haven’t been able to find a book boyfriend be on the same level as Zade meadows
But I can officially say that Lester Gilbert our MMC is the book boyfriend I have been searching for. I definitely didn’t think it would be so easy to be rooting for a psychopath but when Lester Gilbert says things like “ I believe her. because craving her is never going to end. The Sculptor is a part of me, but her only comes into play at the times u let it. And since I’ve known her, he stayed hidden in his secret compartment in my head. He isn’t ravenous because I have found something else to feed the hunger. Her.
Everyone go read this ASAP but make sure to check trigger warnings first🫶 thank you to Dolores for giving me this ARC

This book is going to one of my all time fav books. We dive right in and don’t have to wait for anything crazy to happen it does right from the first page. Daisy is such a unique character and I loved that she was the stalker. She saw what she wanted and she made it happen. And what she wanted was Lester. Her way of going through life and her positive attitude is so inspiring. Add in that she’s literally a badass and you get girl crush.

Lester was perfect. Such a sweetheart for his girl and unapproachable for everybody else. Add in he matches Daisy in the cray cray and you get a match made in hell ready to take the world by storm. Especially cause he’s a masked man and he hunts once a year for evil.

The time jumps and the history of the decades shown in this book was also amazing and I loved reading it.
*This book also has Lester in a mask chasing Daisy in the woods!!!* because holy hell who doesn’t want that and the scene when he catches her had me needing a cold shower.

I will not be shutting up about this book! I’m so proud of Dolores for this masterpiece and so so grateful she let me beta read for her.

deviant souls & bloody murder was an absolute masterpiece. from start to end i was engrossed with this book! dolores is a relatively new author to me but is easily one of my all time favs.

this book involves a sculpture professor and his star student who both have dark desires about each other. it soon turns into a game of cat and mouse but once they cross the line there is no going back and neither of them would have it any other way. lester & daisy are absolutely infatuated with each other and i could not get enough of them. the lengths lester would go to, to protect daisy, had me on my knees!!!

the second book in the bloody decades trilogy is full of spicy, dark, depraved, bloody & romantic moments. the storytelling flowed so perfectly, i never wanted this book to end! dolores' spicy scenes are some of the best i have ever read.

i physically couldn't recommend this book anymore! if i could give infinite stars, i most definitely would.

Daisy & Lester 🖤

wow. wow. wow.
What. A. Ride

Deviant Souls & Bloody Murder was an amazing read. Right from page one you’re thrown into the story.

I loved Daisy. I loved how she was a stalker and owned her craziness. How unapologetically herself she is. Her personality is so fun, and you cannot help but laugh and smile with some of her antics and inner thoughts too.

However, you also can’t help but feel and empathise for both the main characters and their life experiences.

Lester is just *chefs kiss*. His journey with trauma is heartbreaking - how he deals with it is another thrilling story all together!
His trauma has a hold on him, and it has moulded him into who he is.
Until Daisy crashes into his life and gets under his skin. How their relationship develops, the bond they share, the electricity between them is truly beautiful. They are the missing pieces to one another’s puzzle. “We’re the mirrors to each others souls” ❤️

Their entire story is captured so beautifully and takes you on a turbulent journey of emotion. There are twists you absolutely don’t expect, and it makes the story even more compelling.

I loved how despite the story being about Daisy & Lester, we are still given a lovely amount of time with Dubh & Lucille, and reading about their relationship 20 years down the line. Seeing them as parents, happily married & still obsessed with one another was swoon worthy. Not to mention when Dubh & Lester become acquainted 😂 (what an introduction to one another).

So much smut & k!nks are explored & the way Dolores writes is 🥵🥵🥵. Not a detail missed.

Without a doubt ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read.

I cannot wait for the final instalment of the trilogy.

so so good

This is the second book in The Bloody Trilogy Decades and it’s follow Daisy (Lucy and Dubh’s adopted daughter) and Lester, a sculpture professor who is also hiding a dark secret. Daisy also knows his secret and she became absolutely obsessed with him.

This book is a WILD RIDE🤪!! Daisy is a girl who knows what she wants and is not afraid to get it. As she gets older, she starts to question why is she the way she is and it’s revealed to her, she also suffers the same illness her birth mother has. Daisy is DEFINITELY a wild and unhinged female character but Dolores wrote her in a a fun, bad ass way. But when she spots Lester…boy had he matched his freak🥵. Lester is 👩🏻‍🍳💋! His journey with trauma as a child is heartbreaking, and it shaped him into who he became later in life. He was all about control until Daisy entered his life and turned it upside down! Their chemistry was off the damn charts🥵 and their banter was hilarious! Their entire story written beautifully and takes you on a ride of emotions. As always please check your triggers.

If you're a fan of dark romances what are you waiting for to read Dolores Lane's books??!

Deviant Souls & Bloody Murder is so so so good. It's bloody and gorey (check trigger warnings before reading!! Make sure you're comfortable with reading such topics) as well as enticing and gripping. Dolores' characters feel real and complex and deep. Daisy is a wild girl, but also strong-minded and clever. She knows what she wants and she gets it! No matter what. She's just a girl, and she's iconic. The way the plot is interwoven with Lester's backstory is great, and gives us, the readers, insight of him and his personality. The book is dual POV, which lets us learn more about each of them. And oh to see Dubh and Lucille again!! Dubh as a parent is THE CUTEST. He's just such a caring and loving and protective dad. I loved him in Bloody Fingers & Red Lipstick and I love him MORE now.

The spice is the spiciest I've EVER read 🥵 Absolute 5/5 🌶️ for me, between the descriptions, dialogue, and k!nks. You're in for a ride in here!

I know this is like five hundred pages but let me assure you, they don't feel like it. There aren't times where it drags or the pacing feels slow. I devoured it in three days, and I don't consider myself a fast reader.

Thank you so much to Dolores for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest opinion. This is my second time reading an ARC of hers and I've loved it both times!!! 🖤🖤

Did I stay up all night to finish this? Yes. Am I exhausted? Yes. But do I regret it? NEVER.

This book was incredibly hot. 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ I cannot get over how sexy and hot this was. Wow!
I truly cannot get over how much I enjoyed reading this book.

And similarly to book 1, we were also presented with a book playlist. ANY book with a playlist is just instantly better. It added to the atmospheric read.

The relationship between Lester and Daisy was so illicit and steamy. Something about it being forbidden did something to my brain. Haha I’m forever altered.

I love them!

Being thrust back into the lives of Lucille and Dubh felt like a sweet reward. But this time, the focus was on their adopted daughter, Daisy. As an art student enamored by her professor, Daisy’s story is dark, real, and utterly compelling. I couldn’t get enough of how much I loved her character.

Then there’s Professor Lester, the sculptor of death. His character was intricate, and the internal struggle of giving in to temptation was masterfully written.

Dolores writes beautifully complex characters that come to life, making you feel deeply for each one as if they were a part of your world. I felt my heart aching for both characters.

Please read trigger warnings🩸🗡️

If you’re looking for a read that’s intense and full of heat, I highly recommend "Deviant Souls and Bloody Murder."

ARC REVIEW ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wow! This book was so good. Daisy was crazy and I loved her so much. Dubh and Lucille are still crazy about each other and I’m here for it 1000%. Lester, or should I say Professor Gilbert, was written so well I actually thought he might be a real person. I kept cackling at how much he conflicted with himself about his feelings for Daisy, but finally was like fuck it I’m doing this. I adored how protective he was over Daisy. He would kill for her no questions asked. This book was a roller coaster of emotions for me and I just knew I was going to love it. I just didn’t realize I’d love it more than the first. I hate that it took me so long to read, but I, unfortunately, had some personal stuff happen the day I got the email for this book. Also, I want to say I was already a fan of Dolores, but after speaking with her and explaining everything that happened, and she was more worried about my wellbeing, I become more of a fan of hers. I realized she is something a lot of people can’t say that they are. She is a very caring and she was very understanding when I explained what happened. 10/10 recommend this book and any other book. Not only will you get a great story, but you’ll also be supporting such an amazing person.

~ spoilers free ~

Miss Dolores Lane DOES NOT DISAPPOINT. This plot, her writing and story building is just absolutely amazing. Especially when it comes to all the juicy explicit scenes. Her writing through past years is just written so well, the research and playlist?? AMAZING. Love me some good 60s and 70s music!

Instantly was rooting for Daisy and Lester. Daisy does not take any shit and is a strong female lead. Lester is just perfect.. especially for Daisy. Their energies and vibe just sync so well with one another and they are each others fucked up in a beautiful way.

WHEN I READ MY MAN DUBHIE IN THIS BOOK I SCREAMED. I LOVE DUBH AND LUCY. AND HEARING FROM THEM AGAIN IS JUST FULL CIRCLE!

Anyway, back to juicy scenes. When i tell you Dolores Lane can write.. MY GIRL CAN WRITE. The detail, the imagination, the control, and the pleasure??? PLEASEEEE!!! I recommend you pick this book up once its officially out and make sure to read the first one to have some backstory understanding.

ARC Review: I got introduced to Dolores Lane by a friend telling me to read Bloody Fingers and Red Lipstick. Did I read it in a single sitting? Abso-freaking-lutely. Then I continued to devour the rest of Dolores’s book and each were equally amazing. Needless to say, I became an instant huge fan of Dolores and was dying to get my hands on this book. Overall, I loved the book. Their dynamic of being able to heal each other and fully trust one another *chef’s kiss*. Like when the copycat came into the picture, I was scared Daisy was gonna lose her shit cause he went off the rails but she didn’t cause she knew him to his core. I can’t thank Dolores enough for that. However, the time jumping did get a bit confusing at times and yes she is very upfront about the fact that there is time jumping in the book. But for some reason, the time jumping in this one made it really hard for me to understand the timeline of events which is more than likely a me thing and not a her thing. Anyway, the spice and the banter were so, so, so good!! And Dolores…the epilogue…how are you gonna do that to us…. I sincerely cannot wait for the next book!!!

Let me start by saying I am not a dark romance girl but this is still a 5 star read for me

The unaliving scenes in this are gruesome, graphic but wonderfully artistic. The intimate scenes are not few and far between, there is A LOT going on. The relationship between the MMC and FMC is taboo but I was rooting for them!

I was pushed to my limits with gore and kink, I feel like if this was a different author I may have DNF’d but Dolores writes in such a fun way I was pulled back in everytime I pushed to my limit.

Daisy is one of my favourite characters of all time, she’s sassy, witty and terrifying.

I LOVE a good “f*ck it” moment and this did not disappoint.

The twists in the last 25% really rocked my world - highly highly recommend but it is certainly not for the faint of heart!

Dolores has not missed. Not once. Every book I’ve read by her has been chefs kiss, and this one is no exception.

This is a dark romance, so check your triggers before reading. I don’t want anyone crying about the content, you were warned.

I can truly say at the beginning I was wondering if I’d be able to connect with these characters or grow to love them. I was doubtful to be honest. But as the story progresses I grew to love Daisy and Lester.

Daisy the FMC is foul mouthed and determined, like every other FMC Dolores has written. I love how she always writes strong willed foul mouthed FMCs. They’re my fave. She’s coocoo for coco puffs though. lmaoo

Now Lester…. this man mentally and his personality made me fall in love. And that MOUTH…. let me tell you….. FILTHY! 🥵 I feel for him so so much. His story is soul shattering to say the least.

This book is SPICY. So know you’re going to get a WHOLE lot of spice throughout this book. The plot moves along a little after the halfway mark, and I loved that part of the story. It was very suspenseful and interesting, also heartbreaking.

Lastly, seeing Lucille and Dubh be parents was the cutest thing ever. I absolutely loved all of those moments.

All in all I loved this book and if you read the triggers and tropes and think it’s something you’re interested in, I recommend it.

Dam me, i loved this book! I got to read this as an arc and i have never been more great-full.
The character development and the plot were amazing i love Daisy, she takes what she wants without thinking further. One of the best fmc’s i have read this year, same goes for Lester.
Reading about his backstory made everything more authentic and understanding on how he is.
There may be a big age gap but they were meant for each other.
And something else, Lucille and Dubhie made an appearance! Knowing that they are still the same love struck couple from the first book made everything complete! It made me believe that true love still exists, even after all the years!
Thank you miss. Dolores Lane for writing again an amazing book. You’re becoming one of my favourite authors!

“Deviant Souls & Bloody Murder,” by Dolores Lane. This is my confession… I absolutely loved this book and was hooked from the beginning. It’s gory, passionate, dramatic and the plot, aesthetic and writing was beyond the love I have for the first novel. Seeing Lucille and Dubh was also everything to and Book 3 will be another masterpiece! Lester and Daisy were such a chaotic duo and I was ensnared by the whole story because of how intense it was. Dolores you’ve done it again ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🔥🌶🌶🌶🌶

This book is so deliciously depraved and written beautifully! I’m obsessed with Daisy, showing the dark aspects and making you love them as much as the good. It goes to show that there is someone out there for everyone. The way the storyline slowly unfurled and kept you on the edge of your seat. For lovers of dark romance this one is spicy and hot in all the best dark ways 🥵

IF YOU ARE A PERSON WHO ENJOYS GOING INTO BOOKS BLIND, I SUGGEST YOU CHECK THE TRIGGERS BEFORE YOU READ THIS!!

That was a ride to say the least, it's been 4 days and I'm still struggling to put all my feelings in words. Daisy and Lester's relationship is so psychotic that I would recommend a therapist, but then again maybe not. Although, it seems to work for them and their love for one another truly know no bounds. In the beginning, I was really question some of the importance of the flashbacks, but once the plot got introduced it all came full circle and I really enjoyed that. I was really excited that we got some cameos of Lucy & Dubh's relationship. It was a great book I really loved the plot idea. I really enjoyed the serial killer story line; it was very different from typical dark romance.

This book was absolutely amazing! I loved Daisy from the beginning. Lester was an interesting character, and I loved how sweet he was towards Daisy. The relationship between Daisy and Lester was beautifully written. i loved the slow burn and forbidden love. i loved that we saw the characters from the first book. The storyline kept me hooked from beginning to end, and I couldn't put the book down. The plot twist towards the end was something I didn't see coming. I can't wait to read more!
