About the author

Alice Castle lives in South London. She was a feature writer on national newspapers for many years. She has a degree in Modern History from St Andrews University, is the British Royalty expert for Flemish TV, and lived in Brussels for nearly a decade. Her first novel, Hot Chocolate, sold out in two weeks and her second, the cozy crime novel The Murder Mystery, is an Amazon bestseller. She has written nine more whodunnits starring single mum amateur sleuth Beth Haldane. She has also written two psychological thrillers for Harper Collins, The Perfect Widow and The Invitation, under the name A.M. Castle

Absolutely moreish

There couldn't be a more perfect lockdown read than this novel of sheer escapism. As sinful and varied and delicious as a box of the most decadent Belgian chocolates, I found myself unable to put Bella's story down. What a page-turner!

I enjoyed this book very much. The story was about the main character who was writing things down in a journal. It was like she would tell you what she was thinking and talk directly to you at times. This was the first book I've read by this author. I will look for more from her. Highly recommended.

Bella liebt Schokolade. Fast mehr als alles andere auf der Welt, einschließlich ihrer Kinder und ihres Ehemannes. Nachdem sie dank einen Fehler, der von Schokolade hervorgerufen wurde, eine wichtige Aussage einer Politikerin nicht auf Band hat und sie trotzdem verwendet, gefeuert wird. Zuerst ist sie geschockt und ist sich ziemlich sicher, bald und sehr schnell wieder eine Arbeit zu finden.

Doch so ist es nicht. Bella muss zu Hause bei ihren Kindern bleiben und ihr Mann Tom geht arbeiten.

Während Tom neue Aufgaben für sich sucht, geht Bella in der Erziehung ihrer Kinder komplett auf. Ihre Flucht nach Brüssel ist ihr sehr willkommen und sie überredet Tom nahezu, den neuen Job anzunehmen.

In Brüssel genießt sie ihr neues Leben in vollen Zügen. Natürlich darf die Schokolade nicht fehlen. Abgesehen davon, dass sie in Brüssel sehr viel besser schmeckt als in England, entdeckt Bella ein Schokoladengeschäft in den sie sich sofort verliebt und dort als Chocolatier arbeiten möchte und dies auch tut. Ihr persönliches Ziel ist es jetzt, den kleinen Laden vor dem Aus zu bewahren.

Ich habe mich, während ich das Buch „Schokoherz“ gelesen habe königlich amüsiert. Es ist herrlich erfrischend und macht so unglaublich viel Spaß. Am Anfang war ich wirklich etwas skeptisch, denn ich hatte das Buch geschenkt bekommen. Doch es war super. Teilweise bin ich aus dem Lachen gar nicht mehr herausgekommen.

Natürlich dreht sich nicht alles um Schokolade, sondern auch um die Probleme die Bella zu bewältigen, hat. Es hat etwas gedauert, bis ich mich mit Bella angefreundet hatte. Denn manchmal hat sie doch etwas seltsame Ansichten. Allerdings hat sich das mit der Zeit gelegt oder ich habe mich einfach daran gewohnt.

Good read

Good read, solid story I have to say. I like how Bella's life changed and what she found out about herself thanks to Clare's advice.
