Don't be mistaken. This story isn't full of hearts and roses. It isn't sweet. And I'm not the good girl. I'm not someone who finds out they're magical and gets sent to a fabulous school. Jessica Ash is one of my auto-buy authors, and I’m starting to work my way through her other books that she’s written under different pen names. I was following this one on Kindle Vella for a little while, and now the whole book is out to binge in one sitting! 😃
I loved the urban fantasy setting, especially since it takes place in Boulder. I went to college at the University of Colorado, and it was fun to read a fantasy story set in a town that I had loved living in so much. Jayda has such a close relationship with her grandmother and her best friend, and I was really rooting for them to break the curse before it was too late. Ethan will be a fun character to see in future books, and I can’t wait to see what kind of sparks will fly between him and Jayda. Add to that the mystery of who Jayda’s father is, and why the entire supernatural community believes she is such a threat, and there’s a lot to look forward to in the next one!
A refreshing heroine, This is a wonderful book in which the main character, Jayda, refreshingly is not a paragon of goodness or an asskicking daredevil. The character is supernatural but also very human, that makes her very relatable and one is easily drawn into her adventures. The secondary characters come in all kinds of variations and are quite lovable also ( unless they are meant to be suspects or the villain 😉)
This is a first book of a series and often that is mainly setting the scene and getti to know the characters, but here that's not the case, it could even be read as a stand alone.
The pace of the book is not fast or full of action, but it is still a pageturner due to the tension that is constantly present in variable ways. In short, wonderful read and I can hardly wait to read more about Jayda.
This is part of the Jayda Ebonwick Night Witch Chronicles series. I really liked Jayda, she was so funny and sassy, and I loved the bond between Jayda and her Nana. I liked that we saw a deeper side of Jayda too.
This is a perfect read for the time of year, with its Halloween theme and spooky vibes.

The clock is counting down and she knows she will never be able to save her Nan. Her life is about to change forever, as she becomes a witch but not the kind you may expect. She is more wicked and this shows the other side of being a witch. What is going to happen for her? How will she deal with it all? See how it will all go I received an advance copy from hidden gems and I want to review
Full transparency, I received this book as an advanced reading copy and I have not finished it yet. I think it's just not for me. It moves very slowly and I do not care for the attitude of the main character. I got a weird ick feeling when Jayda used her powers to feed off men's lust. I may finish this book but my TBR list is long so I don't know.
This of the first book in The Jayda Ebonwick Night Witch Chronicles series and it’s a winner. On the day of her birthday Jayda and her grandmother are cursed. It’s up to Jayda and her BFF to try to figure out who is doing this before she loses her grandmother. The story has twists and turns and secrets to be found out. This was a great beginning and I look forward to the next book.
This is a well written book with an interesting storyline with Jayda trying to figure out who cursed her and her grandmother. The author moves the story fluidly with her descriptive scenes and delivers an enjoyable story showing the difference between light and dark magic.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and are freely given.
This was such a good story. There was tension and suspense and quite a few shocking surprises that I couldn't put the book down. I hope there is a sequel to this and e get to see more of Jayda, Nana, Bobby Joe and Ethan.

This was a strong start to the Jayda Ebonwick Night Witch Chronicles series. It has that element that I was hoping for from the description. The characters and the world worked well with what I was wanting and glad I got to read this and look forward to more.

I received this book as part of a Goodreads giveaway. I really enjoyed it. It had been a little bit since I read a fantasy novel about witchcraft. I loved the setting descriptions, I felt I could really visualize where things were taking place. The characters were well developed. I plan to continue reading this series.
Life is difficult for a half dark witch that’s been abandoned by her mother. It gets worse when her coven abandons her too. Can Jayda save herself and her grandmother from a curse? Will her BFF survive? Can she keep herself from sucking the energy from the hunky cop? You’ll just hat to read the book to find out!
This of the first book in The Jayda Ebonwick Night Witch Chronicles series and it shows the other, eviller, side of being a witch. It was just to slow for me but maybe if re-worked it will live up to it's potential.
I liked this book,I thought it was a really refreshing take on a kid coming into their powers and how she's handles everything. I loved the cursed aspect and a grittier take on some familiar monsters!
