From USA Today bestselling author Rebecca Jenshak comes a standalone fake dating sports romance. This steamy, grumpy / sunshine football romance delivers a swoony and emotional happily ever after.

Brogan Six’s fan mail has been filling my mailbox for weeks. With every lipstick covered letter I receive, my irritation with him grows. And let’s not talk about the time I accidentally opened one of the packages to find someone had sent him their panties. Gross.

When I come face-to-face with my new nemesis, I expect to give him a piece of my mind and we’ll go our separate ways. Me to an empty mailbox and him to sift through his panty collection.

That is not what happens.

I don’t know if it was the booze, his clever wit, or if I was tricked (I’m sure I was tricked), but now I’m fake dating the Mavericks’ hot new rookie.

And I might just be the next woman to lose her panties to Brogan Six.

Playbook is a standalone fake dating, grumpy/sunshine sports romance with banter, found family, spice, and a guaranteed happily ever after.

I loved it!!!

I was pretty excited when Rebecca announced that she was going to do Brogan’s book, he has been present since the campus wallflowers series and I have always wanted his book.

This didn’t disappoint at all, I enjoyed everything in the book. It was funny and didn’t had any boring moment. I loved the chemistry and banter between London and Brogan and their storyline individually, also the side characters were good too. This was one of the book that I didn’t want to end.

“It turns out I don’t mind not being the center of the party as long as I can be the center of her attention.”

The thing that I loved the most about the book was the relationship between Brogan and all the Holland brothers especially Archer, they were the sweetest. Something that Rebecca always does great in her book is to focus on found family, which is something that I adore. When I read about the Holland family I feel like I’m being hugged by them🥺

“We’re not blood, but we’re family. The family you choose, the ones who choose you back, are so much harder to find.”

“Family is a hell of a lot more than DNA. You are one of us. If you’re not a Holland, then neither am I, because we are the same here.” He removes his hand from my shoulder and places it in a fist over his heart.”

“I love you. He signs the words. You are my brother always.”

PLEASEEE they are the cutest. The best family

London and Brogan helped each other with their insecurities and all the things they were hiding from the outside world in a beautiful way.

“Anyone who doesn’t love you just hasn’t gotten to know you.”

This might be one of my favorite Rebecca books<3

I also can’t wait for Archer’s book and I HOPEEE that it’s with who I think it will be.😫😫 I know I’m going to love his book.

💌 tropes:
・❥・ fake dating
・❥・ found family
・❥・ sport romance
・❥・ he’s a pro fotball player
・❥・ she’s a graphic designer
・❥・ ASL representation

Disclaimer: he is a reformed playboy and I know that some people don’t like when the mmc has that past and in this book there were some scene that girls he hooked up with in the past suddenly appeared. So yeah, if you really hate that trope then I don’t recommend you to read this book but based in my preference I didn’t care about those scenes.

I ended up liking this book more than I thought I would. This novel follows the tropes of fake dating and sports romance between Brogan, a famous football player, and the fmc London, who's a graphic designer. Honestly, this book was really amazing, but the reason I'm not giving this a higher rating is because it includes insta love and OW drama, which hindered my overall enjoyment.

Speaking of the brighter side, I loved the found family trope in this book. Secondly, I adored the relation between Brogan and the holland brothers. The way they all treated Brogan like their own, even though he wasn't related to them by blood, made my heart swell. The holland family took him in when he was a child and treated him as their own. This book emphasis the importance of family.

I truly enjoyed the chemistry between the couple and their banter was even more amazing. There were several scenes where I found myself giggling and wanting more of them. Especially when he wrote so many letters to her, and supported her career choices when her own family didn't, that was definitely the highlight of the book.

But what I disliked about this book was, firstly, the insta love aspect. Secondly, I love the reformed playboy trope BUT not after the fmc comes into the picture. He literally called her out on a date and took body shots from the tits of another girl, while the fmc stood in the crowd, shocked. After 30%, the OW kissed him, and this was after he announced fake dating with the fmc. He didn't kiss her back but he didn't pull apart either. I hated how he didn't set boundaries. There was incredible character development on his part when things got serious between them but I'm still mad at those stunts he pulled out earlier.

Nonetheless, I still liked this novel, it was indeed very addictive. The found family trope was perfectly executed. If it wasn't for the insta love and OW drama, my ratings would've increased. But I still enjoyed this book as a whole, so that's a win, I suppose? Safe to say I'll be checking out the other books of this series.

brogan fucking six!!! i adored every last one of his cameos in Burnout but absolutely fell in love with his character during Playbook 😭

there is just something about this family that makes me feel like im standing in a big loved filled group hug every second i read one of their books.

this book was so insanely cute from start to finish, brogan being so obsessed with Lo right from the start was everything to me. i thought the way they finally met was so funny and the letters from then on made me swoon and giggle so hard 🤭

i loved how Brogan was able to bring Lo out of her shell and show her what real love and family is supposed to look like and at the same time Lo helped Brogan realize its okay to not be “on” all the time and that everyone is still going to love him just the way he is if he has a bad day every now and again.

one of the reasons i love rebecca’s writing so much is because the found family trope is so heavily present in her stories and its so nice to see a character you love get accepted by everyone when they’ve had a rough go at feeling like no one sees them or that everyone leaves.

i was so happy to see how much of brogan and archers relationship was in the book, they were as cute and funny as ever. you could feel the love these two have for each other just pouring out of them at any given moment in the book.

“I don’t get it then. She’s hot. You two seem to get along. It’s uncomplicated. And the sex sounds like it’s fun.” I get another look at that comment, but come on, our bedrooms are close. “You’re deaf. I am not,” I remind him. He flips me off in reply.

i am still cackling over this part two weeks after reading 😂🩷

the only thing i would have changed about this one is that i really wish there would have been no third act break up. i know that they have their purpose of course but i just wish they didnt have to go through it in the first place 🥲

i am chomping at the gates of my enclosure already for archers book next, im absolutely prayyyying its going to be who i think it is 🤭

4.25 stars - this was so cute!!!

pen pals is such an underwritten trope and pen pals where the previous owner to her po box is a pro football player who forgot to forward his mail and then writes her letters as an apology? sign me up.

brogan’s a playboy who’s living it up during his rookie football year so when his new pen pal needs a fake boyfriend and he could use someone to polish his reputation, they make a perfect pair.

i loved the friendship they developed first and how she was never afraid to put him in his place. i could not wait for them together and their chemistry did not disappoint. i’ve read so many books lately with a playboy hero who doesn’t know his worth but turns out to be the cutest, most supportive boyfriend ever and brogan was so that.

Another example of Rebecca Jenshak never letting me down! 💗

I feel like I’ve been anticipating Brogan’s book for the longest time, and when I found out it was grumpy girl x sunshine boy (a.k.a. one of my absolute favorite tropes EVER), I was even more excited — and it did not disappoint!

London & Brogan had such a fun dynamic, and I seriously ate up their banter. London is easily a new favorite Rebecca Jenshak heroine, and I loved that she didn’t make things easy for Brogan hehe 🤭 Seeing a player like Brogan truly become reformed and readily on his knees for London was just THE BEST! I also ADORED when they would write letters to each other 🥹 And of course, in true fake dating fashion, I loved how they went from pretending to forming a connection that was lovely and real 🫶

Once again, Rebecca has done what she does best and given me a fun and enjoyable read with amazing vibes and lovable characters! I already miss London & Brogan, and the bond between the Holland brothers is simply unmatched. Cannot express how much I adore this story & this series — I’m also super excited that Archer’s book is on its way 🤩

Thank you so much to Rebecca Jenshak & her team for an ARC of this book 💌

DNF@8% [ETA: The H is still messing around with OW at the 30% mark - found this out from another review. Thank fuck I DNFed this early on]
Well damn if this wasn't the fastest DNF ever😂💀 I had a feeling, without even flipping the first page, that I wouldn't like the book. Like it was just this bad gut feeling yk? As always, I searched for certain keywords (as I usually do) and found these quotes that finally motivated me to DNF the book. Like, I physically can't. I promised myself that I'd prioritise my mental health this year and DNF more so here I am.

Not as good as Burnout imo, but still an entertaining and fun read.

Similar to the first book, I did not really like Brogan. While Knox was a jerk at the start of Burnout, Brogan was another level of asshole and he didn’t become better in my eyes. He was a playboy and there were random girls throwing themselves at him and he didn’t work very hard at setting boundaries. I never grew to care for him tbh. I also didn’t particularly like London either. I didn’t hate her, but I found her to be a bit of a doormat, especially when it came to her family.

The plot was not as interesting as the first book either. I usually love the fake dating trope but it didn’t hit as hard in Playbook. I only really cared about the Sabrina storyline. The found family aspect did continue to be the strongest and best part of these books though. I loved seeing Archer and Brogan’s relationship! This book just made me super excited for Archer’s story and I hope he ends up with Sabrina. The little we got of them has me intrigued.

All in all, three stars is not a bad rating in my eyes. I just had trouble connecting with the characters and the story the way I did in the first book, but I’m still excited for book three🤗

So I loved Burnout, the first book in this standalone series, but Playbook was even better! Omg I loved it so much and just had a smile on my face the whole time I was reading it! This is a sports romance (he’s a football player), it’s fake dating, grumpy x sunshine (where she’s the grump), banter, found family, and he falls first!

“Me and you, sweetheart. Let’s lose track of everything else together.”

I’m seriously so obsessed with London and Brogan! If you want a romance that makes you giddy and will have you giggling, kicking your feet, and crushing over the couple…this is that book! This starts off with Brogan annoyed over the fact that she keeps getting heavily-perfumed fan mail stuffing up her PO Box for someone named Brogan Six. She ends up running into Brogan at a club and realizes he’s not only the former owner of her mailbox, but also the hot new rookie for the local NFL football team. She confronts him about the mail situation and takes off, but he’s already smitten with her and starts writing letters to get her attention! Eventually it leads to him stepping in as her fake boyfriend: she’s having a lot of run-ins with her ex (her sister is marrying the brother of her ex) and it leads to them faking it longer since Brogan wants to clean up his rookie act as well.

This was just so much fun! I loved so much about it: all the side characters, seeing appearances from previous characters from the author, the Holland Brothers group text, the fake dating that actually lasted a good amount, the letter writing back and forth was so stinking adorable, seeing them get kicked out of the mattress store while shopping 👀🤭, him standing up for her graphic design career, the ASL rep, the strong found family (the Holland brothers are everything), her relationship with his teammates and brothers, the limo time (IYKYK), the football time, the cover and art has been so cute for this book too!

Ahhh this was just so perfect and I love them so much! My new favorite book and couple from Rebecca Jenshak! I am already so so excited for Archer’s book next and can’t wait to see what happens 👀! I received an ARC from the author, all thoughts in this review are my own.

FAKE DATING PERFECTIONNNNN.

From the moment that these two meet, I was so obsessed with them. He's a football player whose mail is being delivered to the heroine's mailbox, including lots of *interesting* mail from female fans. They finally run into each other at a club and she gives him a piece of her mind. He's instantly intrigued and doesn't hesitate to jump in as her fake boyfriend when she's confronted by her ex and his new girlfriend. She ends up agreeing to continue to fake date him so that his reputation improves during his rookie season and his coaches see he's taking things more seriously. I swooned so much over the hero and how much he liked the heroine. I also loved the moments with the football team and how the heroine had to attend so many different things with him and his team. There as just so much to love about this book and I couldn't get enough!!

Thank you to Valentine PR and the author for providing physical and digital copies of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I’ve mentioned this before and I’ll say it again—in my opinion, Jenshak is rivaling Lyssa Kay Adams’s ‘Bromance’ boys with her rowdy bunch, the Holland brothers. Playbook was unique in that Brogan is a Holland brother not by blood but by extension. Much of the plot centered around his poor upbringing and how Rosie Holland gave him a place to call home. There was something likable in every character.

Brogan was a baby at times, but he came through. I definitely felt that he and London deserve each other. We love a meet cute! Archer’s story is next and I am so ready. I am eager to see how it will bring more representation to the deaf community as Jenshak has already spoken to some of his difficulties in the dating scene. Go Mavericks!

(ARC provided by Valentine PR)

London Bennett is an artist that works as a graphic designer for a local station. She's had a new PO Box for the last two months, and is super annoyed she keeps getting mail for the previous owner of the box who forgot to forward his mail. She can't figure out why this guy would have so many pen pals/love letters. Then she crosses paths with the mysterious guy all the mail is addressed to. Brogan Six is easily the most gorgeous man she's ever laid eyes on. When sparks fly everything suddenly becomes exciting.

Brogan Six is the sexiest new NFL rookie known as a star on the field and an underwear model. He's a professional football player who is still getting used to all the attention. He was drafted to the Mavericks along with his best friend Archer who is like a brother to him. After graduation they moved from Valley U to Lake City. Their lives have been good, but a bit chaotic. He can't seem to shake his playboy image with the fans. Then he meets a woman that intrigues him. They share a real connection, and he wants to get to know her better. As they enter into an arrangement that will benefit them both, could they also find unexpected love?

Playbook by Rebecca Jenshak is the second book in the Holland Brothers series. It's a fun, flirty, grumpy/sunshine, fake dating, sports romance full of swoon, amazing chemistry and fabulous banter. I love this series so much and can't wait for Archer's book! <333

I feel bad giving this a 3 when Knox’s book was wayyy better, but giving Playbook a 2 feels wrong too.

Reformed playboy tropes are usually a hard miss for me, but I decided to give Brogan a chance. The problem is that 35% into the book, he’s still acting the same—or worse, when people grab or touch him without consent and it’s never addressed. That made me extremely uncomfortable, and the fact that Brogan just shrugged it off didn’t help.

Then there’s the plot… or lack thereof. There was so much to work with in Brogan’s story. His parents were awful, his estranged sister suddenly appears, and he just accepts it? We only get a handful of chapters about this huge piece of his life, and we’re supposed to be okay with it?

And don’t even get me started on the setup for the next book. Sabrina and Archer are next, but I know nothing about her. At least introduce her in a way that feels organic, not just convenient for your next couple.

Rebecca’s writing itself is fine—straightforward, to the point, no unnecessary filler—but there’s no depth. I keep feeling like I need 200 more pages of backstory to actually connect with the characters and enjoy what’s left.

I was so excited when Rebecca announced this would be Brogan's book. I absolutely ADORED Brogan. He might be one of my new favorite book boyfriends!

London has been receiving loads of lipstick covered mail drenched in cheap perfume and several, possibly used, pairs of panties to her PO Box after the former owner. Brogan Six, forgot to forward his mail when he no longer needed that very same PO Box. London and Brogan meet by chance at the club one night when London over hears who he is and decides to take the PO Box issue into her own hands. Turns out Brogan is the hot new football rookie from their local team, but that doesn't stop London from confronting him, or him from becoming absolutely smitten with her. Turns out London starts having issues with her ex and Brogan is having public image problems, so these too start up the classic mutually beneficial fake dating plan, but as you can guess, fake soon turns real and these two become so much more than fake boyfriend and girlfriend.

This was such a fun read and there was never a dull moment. I loved Brogan and London's character development. They each grow as individuals with the help of the other. They also managed to hold out of the "fake" dating part for a while. Brogan is such a sweet and caring guy and I loved that he was London's biggest fan and supporter with her art. London was also a huge support for Brogan that he didn't realize he needed. He has such a hard past with his family drama and I loved watching him finally understand he is truly a part of the Holland family.

I loved all the appearances of side characters from the previous Holland Brothers book and even more I loved the representation of hearing loss and a deaf character. Even though Archer was a side character in this story, the representation of hearing loss and use of ASL was so well written. Well written disability representation is always a plus for me. I can't wait to see more of Archer in the next Holland Brothers book.

Overall, Brogan and London have such amazing chemistry from the very beginning. They are truly perfect for each other. This story was so fun an enjoyable, I flew right through it. I highly recommend for any romance reader or book lover.

I’M WITH 6!!! Brogan is my new book boyfriend I am SO in love with this sunshine boy! ☀️

Brogan and London are the cutest couple I loved their story! The whole story is adorable and so fun! Starting with their initial run in with London getting sent Brogan’s fan mail … including the lipstick covered letters and panties. Somehow Brogan charms her into fake dating him and all the fake dating fun banter and spice beings! The banter and spice between these two characters is 🥵🌶️ and their chemistry is on fire 🔥!

This book quite literally has all my favorite tropes! I was in love with the concept as soon as I read it and I was so excited to be sent an ARC to read this one! I adored the story and both main characters! Brogan and London are perfect I loved them so much! The found family aspect with this story was perfect and something I loved seeing included! I also really appreciated the ASL representation in this book, I always love to see representation done well and it was in this book!

He’s under my skin and I want to keep him there.

Absolutely adored Brogan and London. The banter. The tension. The chemistry. 5 stars no notes.

Ok maybe a few notes in the form of a love letter (no red panties) to this book. London is a graphic designer currently working at a job she doesn’t love and who’s maybe still a little wounded from her last ex, from two years ago. Brogan Six is pro footballs current rookie darling. Kids love him, women love him, and men love that he can make a play. He’s well loved. And London finds that out when she starts getting his fan mail. Panty filled, perfume scented fan mail. Which all comes to a head when they have their meet cute, which is… such a good representation of these two as a whole. It’s fun, it’s heart eyes on Brogans end, and it’s a good hint at their push and pull that’s to follow.

London has a quick wit about her and is not impressed by who Brogan is in name alone and falls for the layered Brogan that he shows her in bits and pieces… from the start honestly. Brogan is the good time guy with a heart of gold, but while that persona is genuinely him it is also helping him run from the part of him he’d rather avoid. I loved both of these characters so so much, their love story, and their individual storylines as well. The point of the romance is always the couple, but Rebecca writes in a way that you fall in love with each of them as they journey through their love story. You can’t help but root for Brogan to heal from past hurt and for London to open her heart up after being hurt. You want these characters to succeed apart and together.

The way these two characters are so protective of each other’s feelings and are so proud of each other makes me so happy. It’s also a fake dating situation, so you get the whole “screw it” moment where they just let the chemistry and attraction lead. The side characters are ALWAYS worthy of a review mention. You have the Holland brothers making appearances, who you already love if you’ve read Burnout, and London brings in some newbies you’ll love and some you might dislike strongly. Found family and close knit family dynamics play a big role in the background plot of this one. Family is important to both of these characters in different ways and I think Rebecca nails blending their differing dynamics. Sigh, so good.

To the point READ this book. Read Burnout first (you don’t HAVE to, but you should because it’s amazing too) and then pick Playbook up immediately. I mean it. It’s such a fantastic read. Playbook has the fun, it has the emotion, it has the heat, and I’m going to stamp it as my favorite Jenshak read. It truly has everything I love in a romance book and then some.

5/5⭐️
2/5🌶️

This was SO DANG CUTE! I’m not sure what it is about Rebecca’s writing but it’s addictive! Her stories and characters are so captivating and impossible not to love. Brogan was that funny, outgoing playboy but also secretly broken and just pulled at your heartstrings so hard. Him & London had such good banter & their chemistry was off the charts. I never wanted their story to end!

Thank you so much to Rebecca & her team for the ARC — I can’t wait to continue the series with Archer’s story 💕

Cute and easy ready ❤️

✅ The overall premise is a little silly, but I liked the characters and thought their banter was fun

✅ Don’t let the cute cover fool you because this was still quite steamy 😂

✅✅✅ The best part is that there was no third act breakup! It’s so refreshing reading a book where the characters actually talk things through and don’t break up for some silly and completely avoidable reason

This is the first romcom I’ve read in a while and it did not disappoint. I’d recommend this is you’re looking for an easy and fun book to pick up - I think I’ll definitely read Archer’s book next!
