La gota perdida

Rate this book
A profound story based in prehistoric nature that examines the cycle of life and how we fit into the grand scheme of things

Flo, a little drop of water, falls out of the sky and into the world for the first time. Unaware of the nature of her surroundings, or even her mere existence, she wonders who she is and where she’s supposed to go. As life pulls her in different directions, puts obstacles in her path, and guides her toward other living creatures, the answers to her questions continue to lack clarity. That is, until she finally sees the light and, suddenly, it all makes sense. The Lost Drop is a wonderfully creative story that allows each reader, young and old, to gently discuss the cycles of life and our place within them.

As a child, I liked to play dress up and make believe. As an adult, I served in the military until I realized I was tired of playing that role in our world. I am now a writer of picture books for children, and for the child inside all of us. I believe kids have much to teach adults about how to be in the world, if we are wise enough to listen.

Cute illustrations introduce children to the hydrological cycle in this fun picture book. I recall teaching this to 7th grade kids who were blown away that every drop of water is recycled. Ugh, so we are drinking dinosaur pee? So fun.

What a creative way to introduce the water cycle! Flo falls from the sky as a droplet of rain and ends up as the ocean until evaporation takes her essence back to the heavens. Colorful illustrations show how this miraculous process unfolds. End pages include a helpful, at-a-glance diagram of the water cycle that would be useful for science lessons.

A picture book about the water cycle and also about mindfulness? Minimalist illustrations follow "Flo" a sentient water drop as she falls from the sky and tries to find her place. This presents early scientific concepts in a young readers accessible way.
