Jayne Fisher was the youngest person ever to write for Ladybird Books, Jayne based her 'Garden Gang' stories around a bunch of fruit and vegetable characters that became hugely popular with younger readers in the 1970's. Jayne also illustrated her own books using felt-tipped pens.

I only ever read one of these stories as a child. It was Sally Strawberry and Roger Radish. I never realised that Jayne had written so many, especially at such a young age! Well done Jayne! So I was delighted to have the opportunity of reading this one. All credit.to you, Jayne.for doing what I.was too.shy to do at.that age..It only took me another 41 years! :-) Enjoy!
