It could be argued that Calvin Jennings had many problems. Topping the list this year is his invitation to his bestie’s beach wedding, where the brother of the groom is the Daddy that threw him away last year.
He has three options.
Hide under his blankie and pretend he didn’t just get the invitation.
Build a brick fort and post all his stuffies to mount a guard around his heart.
Or call Rent-A-Daddy and get a pretend Daddy to escort him.
Victoria writes about guys loving other guys in between dodging bullets, kidnappers, and serial killers. She enjoys putting them through hell to get their happy ever after—it’s a character flaw she embraces.
She also believes that family is who you choose, that dogs are often much wiser than human beings, and that we’re steadily destroying the world we live in.
And if people read more books, they'd be much happier.
The blurb is misleading about Calvin calling Rent A Daddy, or maybe it was meant tongue in cheek, as this is not an actual plot point.
Little Calvin is dreading attending his best friend’s wedding without a Daddy as his has dumped him for being ‘clingy’. In Daddy/boy world that is never a problem, so he wasn’t a real Daddy. Calvin’s ex will be there with his new boyfriend and it is too much for Calvin with a three day hotel stay.
The fiancée Daddy of the best friend is a retired Marine who asks a retired Marine friend to escort Calvin for the destination weekend wedding in the role of Daddy. Saul is bemused, knowing very little about that type relationship, but accepts. He takes to Daddy-hood like a duck to water, mostly because he is attracted to Calvin and wants to take care of him. Calvin is disbelieving of this, but just for a scene or two.
Their relationship is insta and it takes very good writing to support insta and make it believable. That wasn’t the case here. There are off page references which should have been a scene with dialogue. They were not inserted into the writing in a smooth way. Each time I had to stop and reread the awkward sentence structure.
Calvin and Saul were nice characters. There were other reasons that I didn’t make myself continue reading. No rating because I don’t want to lower the book score. Others seemed to like it, it just wasn’t what I enjoy in this genre.
Calvin wants to bury his head in the sand, or his blanket fort, he's not fussy, and totally ignore the invite to his best friends wedding. Problem is not that he doesn't want to go, just that he will meet the Daddy who broke his heart last year. Enter, Saul. Doing this one thing as a favour seemed like a good idea, even is Saul isn't really a Daddy. But seeing Calvin for the first time does . . . . .something. . . .inside of Saul. Can they really pretend?
What I loved about this was how quickly they both knew, and admitted, that this wasn't pretend anymore. I loved how Saul settled into the Daddy role with way more ease that he thought he would, and that he seemed to know what Calvin needed WAY before Calven did. That was the biggest thing for me. That Saul never really knew he was a Daddy, but with Calvin, he absolutely was.
I found it heavy on the emotional side, but a bit lighter on the steamy side. Oh it's steamy, yes indeed, but not explicit. It's more about the emotional connection between Saul and Calvin, rather than the physical one.
Low on the angst scale, but high on the warm and fuzzies slash too stinking cute scale! I read this in one sitting.
I loved that the rotten daddy gets his comeuppence!
And I loved catching up with all the couples that live in Rainbow key!
Calvin had had a horrific childhood. He's always felt inadequate and learned not to trust others. Saul has been hired by Calvin's best friend Ricky's fiancé to be his Daddy for the occasion because his nasty ex will be there. While there's instant attraction between them, Calvin just can't completely trust that Saul is the real deal. Saul is also just realizing he's a Daddy and wants to be Calvin's Daddy. A run in with some nasty criminals who almost ruin the wedding has them both running for the hills. Calvin because he feels as though Saul broke his promise and Saul because he's feeling unstable in his new role. Some time passes and Saul realizes he needs to just start as he means to go and simply take control and leaving no doubt about his intentions. There's an altercation with Calvin's nasty ex but it's resolved quickly. There's a lovely epiloge for their HEA and I can't wait for the next installment.
Out of the entire Summer Daddy series, this one was my favorite. Calvin's best friend Ricky is marrying his daddy Chris. Although Calvin loves Ricky with everything he's got, he's nervous about attending the wedding, because Chris' brother, Steven, is his best man, and Calvin's ex. Steven has a new man, and Calvin is afraid to see Steven, when Calvin is still alone. Ricky and Chris have the perfect idea, to get Calvin a Rent-A-Daddy, a Daddy he can use for the wedding. In comes Saul. This story has so much going on. A destination wedding, pirates targeting affluent islands, a ex who's personality screams both stalker and abuser, an ex marine bodyguard for a temporary daddy. Wow. The character in this story were so relatable and loveable. You could feel their struggles, and their genuine love between all main characters. I loved this story, so worth it.

Hide under his blankie and pretend he didn’t just get the invitation. Build a brick fort and post all his stuffies to mount a guard around his heart. This was a sweet story of how Calvin rented Saul as his Daddy for an event but got the Daddy of his dreams after Saul and he connected so well. Calvin was a sweet little and Saul was protective as was needed. Easy to read and understand. This was an MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like DDLB dynamic.
Calvin is such a sweetie and he's in such a rough place... and Saul is exactly what he needs - a Daddy to step in and help him through... and in a sweet reversal, Calvin is exactly what Saul needs too! From a fake dating story to a HEA, this book combines steam, an adorable little and a man who behaves like a Daddy should and finds an instant connection with his little... There's just enough angst to make sure this book strays from cloyingly sweet as we watch these two men come to terms with what they want and work to achieve it.
Calvin is a sweet character navigating a tough time in his life. He finds the support he needs in Saul, who steps in as a nurturing figure. The dynamic between them is beautifully reciprocal, as Calvin also fulfills Saul's longing for connection. What starts as a fake dating scenario evolves into a heartfelt romance, blending steamy moments with the tenderness of their relationship. With just the right amount of angst, the narrative explores their journey toward understanding and embracing their desires, leading to a satisfying happily-ever-after.
Poor Cal, his abysmal childhood and 💩 ex made him think he didn't deserve happiness when it showed up in the form of Saul. Cal brought out the daddy that Saul didn't know he was meant to be. The length of their story was perfect, it allowed their relationship to grow and not feel rushed. This was a fantastic series opener and I can't wait to see the next daddy find his boy.
If you like daddy/boy books I would be very surprised if you don't love this one. It's ooey-gooey sweetness with just enough angst to keep things going. I love that you follow the relationship through more than them just deciding to be together. They're both so sweet and good and vulnerable. I love all the warm fuzzies this book gave me. It is VERY daddy/boy story. Daddy does everything and takes complete control with consent. There are diapers worn but they aren't used.
Saul and Calvin's story. Calvin meets Saul at his best friends wedding where Saul is posing as his daddy to protect him from his ex. The beginning of the story and their relationship was very chaotic with a first/second act breakup. However after some false starts and a little trouble from the ex, they figured out their relationship. This was a really cute story but was a little stressful in some places. Spice level: 1.5
I loved the interaction between Saul and Calvin. Poor Calvin has been abandoned and mistreated by most people in his life other than his best friend, Ricky. Saul never thought he would want to be a Daddy. What starts out as a job/favor for his former lieutenant, quickly morphs into something more. Now all Saul and Calvin need to do is learn to communicate and avoid evil exes.
I knew from the start that Daddy-Little Dynamic isn't my cup of tea, but because I think the blurb sounds interesting, why didn't I give it a go? As it turned out, I'm not liking it, plus when the misunderstanding falls upon Saul and Calvin and they are drifted apart, then Saul becomes a daddy for rent for someone else; even if it was nothing sexual, I didn't like it at all.

MM, Age Gap, Daddy/Boy, Age Play, Former Marine, Contemporary, Romance. Part of a multi author series and can be enjoyed as a stand-alone. Great characters, angst, troubled childhood, Insta Attract, Age Gap, Steam. A fun and sweet read with a guaranteed hea.
Well written story and well developed characters. Those are the most important things to me in a book. Can you imagine renting a Daddy when you need one? What a fantastic idea!! Calvin needed a Daddy. His had dumped him because he was too clingy! On top of that, his ex was part of the wedding party that Calvin was in!! What was he going to do?
Calvin could not hide under his blankie forever. It was very cute that a fake situation gave him the confidence to find a new Daddy. Calvin was just so adorable, but I loved the balance of him kind of "growing up" in real life and trusting true love with Saul!
I really enjoyed this sweet, fake wedding date story. Calvin and Saul work hard for their HEA. Lots of “action” and a little angst made this a very satisfying read. I highly recommend this story!
I will start by saying that we ALL need a "Saul" in our life! Someone who might not "know" all the things, but they always see what is needed... yeah, we all should strive to find our own "Saul"!!!
Also, it was nice to visit with a few "old" friends! 🥰
I love the love story of two people who are perfect fit. There is also some drama that gets in the way. We see Calvin having trouble trusting. It was hard to watch the missteps they both make. I love the sweet ending. #CMCon25
A bit of a typical fake dating scenario to avoid dealing with an ex with a new boyfriend but with a Daddy angle. It was fine and I found the whole crime subplot a bit extraneous, we could have just had them figuring things out, but it was fine.
Saul by Victoria is part of the A Daddy For Summer series by multiple authors but it also kicks of a new series by Victoria Sue, Rent-a-Daddy.
This is the story of Calvin and Saul. It starts as a fake Daddy story and it turns into a love story. I really liked their story. It was sweet, sexy, full of feels and very well written.
When a wedding invite send Calvin into a frenzy, he realises that he is in need of a temporary Daddy. A favour brings Saul into Calvin’s life and Calvin inevitably finds himself the Daddy he always needed.
A sweet read about a little who needed that one person to be his support system, there is a bit of angst, passion, evil exes and a lovely HEA.
This is a sweet and spicy story about a young man, Calvin, who was dumped by his previous Daddy (who wasn’t really a Daddy after all). Calvin needs a date for his BFF’s wedding so his BFF comes up with a plan (without telling Calvin) to get him a date. Said date, Saul, has never had any desire to be a Daddy but when he comes to Calvin’s rescue at the airport where he’s meeting him, something clicks and his pretend role comes to mean so much more.
The Rent-A-Daddy concept is a cute one and I can’t wait to see where this series goes next.
An advanced copy of this book was provided to me at my request; my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.
Calvin's bff is getting married but his ex is going to be there. Enter Rent-a-Daddy. What a great story line and I can't wait for another story. I also love that we get to revisit the Rainbow Key series which I adored. Unfortunately, Calvin's ex is not a daddy and is a stalker. Saul and Calvin have a few communication issues. However, we get our hea with some help from interfering friends.
