When Wyatt and Michelle leave for Chicago to attend the wedding of an old friend of Michelle’s, and Wyatt has no idea how close his beloved Domina is to the edge. Michelle has been trying to ignore her own issues, focused on helping Wyatt with his PTSD, but the past refuses to stay buried and she soon finds herself spiraling out of control. More determined than ever to protect Wyatt from herself, Michelle tries to pretend everything is perfect with devastating results. Wyatt can see that Michelle is losing it, but he doesn’t know how to help her when she refuses to admit there’s a problem. No longer able to deal with the pressure of pretending to be perfect, Michelle self-destructs. Wyatt is now faced with a bitter choice - leave the woman who owns his heart or start a long and arduous journey to rescue the other half of his soul from her own personal Hell. Penance is the conclusion of Michelle and Wyatt’s tale of hope, loss, healing, and most of all forgiveness and unconditional love. ***This is the second book in a two book series. It is HIGHLY recommended that you read 'Still' before you read 'Penance' as this is basically one giant book split into two.****

Ann Mayburn

Ann is Queen of the Castle to her wonderful husband and three sons in the mountains of West Virginia. In her past lives she's been an Import Broker, a Communications Specialist, a US Navy Civilian Contractor, a Bartender/Waitress, and an actor at the Michigan Renaissance Festival. She also spent a summer touring with the Grateful Dead(though she will deny to her children that it ever happened).

From a young age she's been fascinated by myths and fairytales, and the romance that often was the center of the story. As Ann grew older and her hormones kicked in, she discovered trashy romance novels. Great at first, but she soon grew tired of the endless stories with a big wonderful emotional buildup to really short and crappy sex. Never a big fan of purple prose, throbbing spears of fleshy pleasure and wet honey pots make her giggle, she sought out books that gave the sex scenes in the story just as much detail and plot as everything else-without using cringe worthy euphemisms. This led her to the wonderful world of Erotic Romance, and she's never looked back.

Now Ann spends her days trying to tune out cartoons playing in the background to get into her 'sexy space' and has learned to type one handed while soothing a cranky baby.

The long awaited sequel is finally here! Wyatt and Michelle's continued journey into a D/s relationship with Michelle as the Domme starts to unravel. Michelle's one of those people who believe in mind over matter. While she recognizes PTSD symptoms in Wyatt, she refuses to acknowledge the same in herself. This is a problem as her past is revealed to the reader and Wyatt. It's not pretty. It is sad to say that she is perfectionist by training perhaps not nurture.

Children who are trained to be perfect by an exacting parent will either harden to become stronger or they will break. Michelle seemed to become stronger, almost a superwoman which explains how she stays calm under warfare. However, every person's endurance will come to an end, especially if there is no way to relieve the pressure. For Michelle, between her mother and loss of Owen mingled with her pride to show Wyatt off is too much.

This story is difficult to read for someone like me. It's not that I can see myself in Michelle's situation. It's more that I don't understand how someone so strong can become so messed up and illogical. Her behaviour becomes irrational which makes no sense to me. Ms. Mayburn does an excellent job of showing how the superwoman myth can end up harming a strong female and become her undoing. Michelle is trying so hard to take care of everyone else, that she leaves absolutely nothing left for herself. It's a depressingly accurate downward spiral as Michelle spins out of control and damages Wyatt in a cruel manner when he is most vulnerable. It's painful to watch.

From an emotional side, this story is filled with negative and destruction feelings. It really goes to show how much influence a person's behaviour can impact others. For those who are already weakened by other factors, it's appallingly easy to drag them down. Ms. Mayburn shows a plausible rock bottom before a person can decide to make a change and start healing. It's not a smooth road up either. It's filled with bumps and sometimes sliding back downward before moving up again. What is interesting is how those who are there to help don't necessarily use the coddling method. At one point, Michelle's mentor chastises her.

“Please, spare me the melodramatic self-pity. Whether or not you deserve him is irrelevant. He loves you, so you will be worthy of that love.” (loc. 1269-1270)

Still, this story isn't all angst, doom and gloom. Ms. Mayburn does add in a few amusing lines and the BDSM is delicious.

She [Michelle] laughed softly. “You were playing match maker?”

“I prefer to think of it as pussy purveyor.” (loc. 2874-2875)

How does one earn the title of pussy purveyor? Does one get to test all the pussy out first for a trial run? How fun would this be?

From a BDSM perspective, a very memorable scene is a rope bondage scene which also included suspension. The description of it is amazing and makes me wish to be in Wyatt's place. It's everything a rope bunny could hope to experience. In addition, there is a flip as Wyatt switches to be a Top. Ms. Mayburn does an excellent job of it. She blends it so well with the concept of penance. For those brought up with a religious upbringing, the concept of penance may be easier to swallow. For me, it made perfect sense and I find myself wishing more consequences in life are handled with penance. It's also interesting how Ms. Mayburn doesn't make penance to be physical punishment. Most people think of it as beatings through caning or flogging. In fact, Michelle would have preferred a physical cleansing rather than the penance Wyatt puts her through. Wyatt's punishment for Michelle to earn her way back to his good graces is effective and cathartic. The creative ways for her to feel as though she has paid for her sins is a bit of a mind fuck and for me, harsh. It really forces Michelle to focus and think about what she did. Through it all, Wyatt learns the art of D/s.

Still, the story is summed up beautifully with one thought.

You were always so full of life that just being with you made the even the most mundane things exciting, but when you left it was like the joy in the world died with you. (loc. 3811-3812)

Isn't this what most people hope for when they meet their "one"? This BDSM romance is recommended for those who want to see the ups and downs of a BDSM lifestyle.

I was given an ARC for an honest review: Here it is 5 Star All The Way and if I could give more I would:

This is book number 2 in the Long Slow Tease Series, so in order to follow the story I would suggest (actually insist) you read the 1st book, Still. Penance is the continuing story of Wyatt and Michelle's journey. I have to say Still is one of my most favourite books ever and I was eagerly anticipating the release of Penance. I was not disappointed. I absolutely loved this book and Penance has now joined my favourite list too. The rollercoaster of emotions that Ann Mayburn brought to this book is amazing. It was an emotional journey not only for Wyatt and Michelle (and their friends and family) but for the reader as well. I felt the anguish and heartache as they both struggled with their PTSD. I have to admit I was surprised by the direction this book took, but I loved it. I think this book will surprise a lot of her readers. I don't think they will be expecting such a love story as to me that is what Penance is. Some people won't understand the direction that has been taken in this book, but that is the risk an author takes and I firmly believe to do their story justice Ms.Mayburn had no choice. As with Still, there are elements of BDSM in Penance and there are some extreme moments where some readers may be shocked, but to me they were an integral part of the storyline. Wyatt and Michelle certainly struggle in this book to make it to their HEA. In fact for a while I was concerned that they might not make it. Michelle seemingly falls apart, very unlike the strong and confident Domme we saw in Still. The love Wyatt has for her means that he will do anything that he can to help Michelle through her PTSD whilst struggling with his own, even becoming a reluctant Dom. Yuki and James, their best friends are also extremely concerned about Michelle and struggle along with Wyatt as to how to help Michelle come back to them. Thankfully the HEA was reached after I was emotionally rung out to dry. I think this is the most emotional book written by Ann Mayburn so far and I have to say what a damn fine author she is. She is always one of my auto purchases as soon as a book comes out and that will not change. Penance gives closure to Wyatt and Michelle's story and I look forward to her writing the story of Yuki and James. Thank you Ann Mayburn for one of the best books I have ever read. Cannot recommend it more highly.

5 out of 5 Licks-I’d give it 10 if I could!

Oh goodness! This book!! LAWD!! Notice I’m having issues making full sentences without tons of extra punctuation. Oh yeah it is just that good. I absolutely loved and adored part one of this love story. The book Still has had a special place in my heart since I read the first page. The trip from that page to the end of Penance is not a pretty flowery kind of story. When I tell both of these characters go to hell and back to earn every bit of their happily ever after, I mean every word.

Michelle and Wyatt have worked hard to help Wyatt overcome his PTSD, and although he probably will never be 100% cured of it he has learned to deal with it on a day to day basis. His submission to Michelle helps him to center his world. That delicate world is rocked to its core when they go back to Michelle’s home town for a wedding of a close friend that includes a collaring ceremony at the very club that was once the center of her world and the place where her own PTSD partially sprouted from. Wyatt knows she is struggling to deal with her past, and tries to help her the best way he can, but when she breaks his trust by lying to him he may just have to leave her even though it will kill both of them to do so.

This is one of those books where I struggle with how much to tell y’all about in my review. To go into much more detail would give away too much of the emotions/story in my opinion. This book should be read with tissues, ice water, a fan, and maybe even some form of alcohol. I felt every emotion both of them were feeling. There were even times when the breath was stolen right from my body I hurt for them so much. And goodness the astounding hotness of them together, well the fog on my iPad should speak for itself there! I can’t recommend this series more. You definitely want to read them both and in order. You will be lost without reading them that way. :)

Review copy provided for an honest review

Sometimes you read a book and it resonates with you and changes your views and for me that book was Still by Ann Mayburn. I loved seeing a big, bad alpha male who chose to submit to a woman because he wanted to please her, watching him realize that his submission wasn’t about being weak but about meeting her needs, discovering that while she might be in control he truly holds the power. Still ended with a happily for now with the reader knowing there was more to the story of Michelle and Wyatt and in Penance we discover that Michelle’s tough exterior is crumbling but asking for help isn’t in her nature and Wyatt who will do anything for her has to make the toughest decision of his life to save her.

I am seriously wrung out after reading Penance. These are two characters who have suffered so much in their lives and while trying to figure out how to make their relationship work they are forced to deal with Michelle’s family issues, ghosts from her past, and the PTSD they both suffer from. This isn’t an easy story and there will be scenes that simply tear you apart and make you wonder if you should have your head examined for being so invested in fictional characters. Ann Mayburn is the mistress of the reader mind f*ck…she pushes the reader just like a Dom will push their sub; she makes you go through the pain to get your pleasure (and I’m pretty sure she enjoys it).

Without giving away too much of the plot Michelle makes quite a few very big mistakes in this book; she really is a woman out of control and on the edge. Wyatt, with some prodding, makes a decision that will change their lives forever knowing that the outcome will either save them or end them. What ensues afterward was unexpected yet made complete sense for this couple.

Penance is one of those books that will make you think and feel and it will give readers a better understanding of the complexities of a BDSM relationship. Without a doubt this will be a series that I will read again and again; I love the femdom angle, the alpha submissive hero, the pain, the healing, and the absolute joy of success after a hard road traveled.

"Penance" is the second book in Ann Mayburn's "Long Slow Tease" series (the first being "Still"). I did not enjoy this novel, and wish I had not picked up the series.

Semi-spoilers: "Penance" is purportedly a continuation of the femdom of the first book, however, this would be true only if you read starting at about 72% of the book to the end. Without giving away any real spoilers, I will say I was incredibly disappointed in this book, and that this was the continuation of "Still" - which had such potential - saddens and bothers me. Despite its the first book's high rankings, this series is incredibly disappointing and I wish I had skipped it.

While in the sandbox, Marine Gunnery Sergeant Wyatt Callahan was asked to look after Navy Doctor Lieutenant Michelle Sapphire, daughter of Senator Sapphire from Illinois.

“Just keep an eye on her, help her out when you can. Develop a professional relationship with her and let her know she can count on you. And I do mean professional; don’t give anyone anything to use against either you or her.”

“So you’re basically assigning me to be her bitch?”

So he was there for her when losing one particular soldier broke the ice queen’s hard shell. And she was there to save his life when he was injured in an IUD explosion.

Stateside, they encountered each other again at the funeral of a fellow Marine. Michelle caught him drinking and insisted on driving him home. When they kissed and he invited her up, she bluntly informed him that she was a Dominatrix and that she wanted him, but for more than a booty call. She gave him her card, asking him to research bdsm and give her a call.

Michelle didn’t hear from him again till he needed bailing out of the drunk tank after he was caught drinking in the cemetery with a knife on hand. Rather than take him back to his place, she took him home with her and made him an offer. If he stayed as her submissive for a month, they’d make a go out of a relationship. If he wasn’t up for that, her groundskeeper would give him a ride home in the morning. He slept on her bedroom floor that night, chained to her bed.

And thus begins the courtship of Wyatt & Michelle.

I did enjoy this book, however it could and should have been written as a continuation of the previous book. We really didn't need two books as I felt that there wasn't really an end to Still. This book was a complete continuation. While the end of Still was a good stopping point, I feel like this should have been one book.

Spoilers ahead:

Wyatt didn't overcome his PTSD until this book and Michelle finally dealt with her PTSD as well. This was a good continuation. I enjoyed watching Wyatt top Michelle, even with the knowledge that he really was just being a good Sub and giving Michelle what she needed, like a good Sub should. I did feel that this was a better interpretation of the lifestyle than Still was. My problem with Still was that Michelle wasn't in the right place as she was topping Wyatt, in this book their mental health was in a much better place to be taking on the honor of Topping or Mastering someone. You can't fully trust someone if they don't trust themselves.

I enjoyed the epilogue showing where everyone is in their lives years in the future.

Sad to be rating this just a 2 but this one really didn't work for me. The opening of the novel was great and really started things off with a bang but the second piece of this book was very deep emotionally and I will be honest I did not pick the book up for that reason.

I think the author did a wonderful job regarding her research and understanding of the struggles faced by ex-military and the writing was top notch.

The "switch" in the middle of the novel and the darkness that our heroine faced just was not for me - it really brought the novel down to a place that was more grounded when I was just reading for fun.

Still a great book and don't let my rating deter you from picking it up.

Satisfactory Ending

Nice tying up of hanging plot lines. The story was somewhat compromised by unlikely behavior from a main character. The author didn't sell me on the illogical hysterics of a main character that precipitated most of the conflict and angst and to my way of thinking derailed the credibility of the story. Regardless, it was nice to revisit Wyatt and Michelle and see their HEA.

We learn the whole story behind Michelle's PTSD and guilt. Some of this should have been in #1 book to tie the two stories together. This one is such a disappointment after #1; I regret buying it. It is utterly predictable (hence boring). The 2 characters have PTSD; the situations now will break them and cure them. Voila, HEA. I gave up at chapter 4; DNF. Not interested in the emotional angst.

DNF at 75%. I’ve never read such a good first book and then have a series do such a 180.

Like what is this trash: “Six days later, Michelle was pretty sure she was either going to rape Wyatt or kill him in his sleep.”

If said by a man it wouldn’t be published surely.

Didn’t love the broken Domme needs to serve trope. However, the scenes were still hot and loved the characters still from the first book. Sometimes felt like there was a lot of doom and gloom.

I highly recommend the two books in this duology - I am electing to post this under the second book but my review is for both.

Still & Penance are excellent examples of how you can write a good erotic romance that also hits all the marks for good contemporary fiction. The author creates characters you genuinely care about, with enough depth to make them interesting outside of the bedroom (or dungeon). The plot, as many plots do in contemporary romance, centers around the 'will they or won't they', although in this case it isn't will they or won't they fall in love/fall into bed, but whether will they or won't they be able to surmount the considerable obstacles that exist in their own minds to be able to find their HEA.

You can't read Penance without first reading Still - it is the continuation of the story from the first book. Normally I am not a huge fan of the new trend in books where the story is not ended in one book - but instead requires you to purchase the second book to get the resolution. I don't understand where this trend has come from - and I don't even want to speculate as to why it has become popular, I'll just say not a fan. Except in the case of Still and Penance, because Still is very much Wyatt's book, while Penance is Michelle's. In Still we explore Wyatt's PTSD, its history, how its affected his life, and how Michelle helps put him back on the road to recovery. In Penance we explore Michelle's PTSD, which has much deeper roots than just the military background she and Wyatt share. By splitting this over two books the author is able to strongly focus on the story and character development of each of the main characters separately. In my mind it was a good decision to split this story into two books.

Both Michelle and Wyatt are fully-realized, mature damaged adults who are a joy to read about. The way they build off of their relationship to overcome their obstacles to personal growth and love is touching. The depth with which the author explores their psyches and drags us along through their pain until we reach the other side is awesome. I've read the majority of the other books written by this author and have come to appreciate her as a writer who explores love in a power-exchange relationship - so I can see the slow evolution of her storytelling that lead to the excellence that is Still & Penance. I recommend that people read her Club Wicked series - in and of themselves each book is quite good but that's not the main reason I say this. I say this because I see them as the steps she has taken to reach the point of storytelling and character development that made this duology so good.

Hmm... I suppose I should also add - the sexuality represented in these books is compelling. For me though it wasn't just that the sex was hot, but that the sex was integral to the development of the characters and in helping them grow beyond who they were to who they became by the end of the duology. The author strikes just the right balance here - it isn't kind of blah sex that is important because it helps characters develop; it isn't super hot sex with no character development at all (aka - smexy smex sex for the sake of smexy sex equalling barely veiled softcore). Like the bed in Goldilocks, its just right.

There may be some readers put off by the BDSM elements of this duology; there may be some readers who aren't put off by BDSM who may not love that the female lead is the dominant (so many books in this subgenre are female sub/male dom - honestly I do prefer that mix myself); but I hope they push past that to read these two well-balanced, compelling books.

I really wanted to like this book as much as the first, but it did not live up to my expectations. While I gave it a four star rating, it is more of a 3.5 star. Since Goodreads does not allow half stars, I gave it the benefit of the doubt based on the fact that I see it more than a sequel but as an extension to the first book, which I loved. I feel it should have been one book, but I can understand why it was split up the way it was. After completing the book I am rating it higher than I first thought I would. It started out good, but then what the hell!! I am so sick of FemDom books becoming switch books! If I wanted to read a switch book, I would. I do enjoy a switch book, but when the first book was toted as a FemDom book, I was really hoping the whole story would be FemDom and not a swtich. I have found very few pure, good FemDom books, so I was let down as I realized yet another book went down that path, especially since the first book was not complete until reading this book. Thus, as I read the book I was certain that I would only be giving it a 2 star rating. Can't a Domme over an alpha male stay a Domme without submitting to the male at some point in their story. So my earlier feelings that the first book was close to being as good as my favorite FemDom book, Natural Law by Joey W Hill, has slipped a bit since it didn't stay true. However, I have to say it did redeem itself. ***Spoiler*** The fact that he was acting as her Dom as a way to serve her needs and still being the submissive serving his Domina saved the story is some way. I would still have liked more scenes where she she topped him, but I know the book can't be all sex. The other part of the book that turned me off was how damaged she was and how she completely sabotaged their relationship based on her insecurities. I like when a character is flawed, but I believe the author took it too far to the point Michelle was pathetic at times. The fact that she could not accept his love time and time again got old. Yes there needed to be a breaking point and a resolution, but it seemed to be a bit much in this case. I liked the side story of them helping with Front Line, but it did seem to be randomly thrown in. I would like to see a Prequel about James and Yuki and hopefully that would be a pure FemDom book.

Fantastic! This is part 2 of Michelle and Wyatt's story and I am now a loyal Ann Mayburn fan. Still dealt with Wyatt's demons and now we get Michelle's with Penance. Like Still, Penance is a gripping emotional roller coaster ride that had me mesmerized and kept me from putting this book down until I had read the last sentence.

Ann Mayburn is an exceptional storyteller that has the amazing ability to create characters that resonate with her readers on an emotional level. I went through a myriad of emotions including sadness, rage, fear, hopelessness and joy with these characters. Ms. Mayburn made Michelle human and flawed who needs help to deal with demons and issues that required more than just the love of an amazing man but professional help.

The BDSM scenes in this book were exceptionally hot and descriptive making me feel like a voyeur seeing it with my own eyes. This book was magic for me and will be a part of my soul for a very long time.

It is a rare occurrence that a story like this touches me on a level such as this one did and I cannot recommend it enough. If you haven't read Still and Penance by Ann Mayburn, you are missing out on an experience that should not be missed.

I have been anxiously waiting for this book ever since I finished Still about a year ago. Then when I finally got a copy I was so backed up on my reviews that I didn’t get to read it for what seams like forever. Now I’m wishing that I would have knocked all those other books to the side and jumped right on this one. I have always loved Ann Mayburn’s books and that holds true with this one.

In the first book Michelle and Wyatt use her domination over him to help him cope with his PTSD. In this book we learn that he is not the only one who is dealing with a form of this illness. There are parts of the book where I wanted to just biat¢h slap Michelle cause I though she was being a total ¢unt, but as I got further into the book and learned a little more about her past and her triggers it started to make since. And of course Wyatt steps up to the plate to help his Domina deal with everything that is troubling her.

While this is still mainly a Femdom book we also get a little role reversal in it and get to see what its like with Wyatt in charge. Let me just say it is HAWT !!

This book was amazeballs and I’m still kicking myself that it took me so long to read it. Don’t make the same mistake if you haven’t read it go grab it now. Just make sure you read Still first!!

Such a beautiful love story full of flawed but genuinely real characters. I discovered Ms. Mayburn's writing when I read Still (book 1 in the Long Slow Tease series). Although fem-dom is a departure from what I usually read, I was captivated by the strength of the characters. I didn't think it was possible but Ms. Mayburn has out done herself with Penance! What a wonderful story! I found myself experiencing a wide range of emotions along with the characters. I look forward to reading more of Ann Mayburn's books and if they are only half as good as Penance, I'll be trilled.

Would love to read a prequel to the Long Slow Tease series and learn all about Yuki and James!

Very seldom do you read a sequel that you love as much, if not more than the first! Ann Mayburn has definitely delivered with this one. Still is one of my favorite books, But Penance is amazing! You do need to read Still first to understand Penance, not a stand alone book!

I love Michelle and Wyatt. The characters are believable. Their story is hard, their lives and baggage that are brought into it are not easy. Perfection, imperfections.... They are flawed, but perfect for each other. They just have to look past the obstacles-Michelle's family, her dead fiancé, their PTSD, her need to be topped, to see each other.

I think that people can easily relate to their feelings. Not feeling like you are good enough or worthy enough to be with someone. Fighting to overcome those feelings within yourself and not projecting them onto others.

I love the switch up in this book as well, not just a straight FemDom. There is a little switching that takes place, but it is perfect and very timely! Would not be as perfect without it. I think we all have those moments of needing to be dominant or to be dominated!

I loved this book and shared it with many friends and family already!!!

I was expecting lots of hot sex, after all it is an Ann Mayburn novel, I was blown away by the emotional rollercoaster that took me for a ride throughout this book. Penance is such a just title for this book. A story where inner loathing and suicidal thoughts meets understanding, unconditional love and finally, forgiveness and acceptance of self.

This book is not for the faint of heart. Michelle and Wyatt deal with serious issues of PSTD and mental illness. Mayburn takes great care to position these characters as heroes, not victims. She also shows the struggle in which they work, both together and separately, to heal. This serves to give hope to all of us that no matter our issues we are worthy of being loved and giving love.

Oh, and there was a lot of hot sex.

Well, the internet ate my long review. Nutshell version: they both have problems, they talk to each other, they compromise, they learn to trust each other through trial and error, they show vulnerability in front of the other rather than have some bullshit emotional wall thing going on, and they take such good care of the other one's needs. They go through hell together and survive. They love, laugh, cry, and share a life in all its glory. And Wyatt is freaking hot, so kind and considerate, caring and generous, also wiser than most men I've ever had the (dis)pleasure of meeting. Michelle is a lucky woman, but then she's as loyal and loving as he is. The perfect imperfect couple if you ask me.

Wow. What an amazing and powerful conclusion to Michelle and Wyatt's tale. Ann Mayburn does it again, but pack's a powerful and emotional punch in this raw tale of love and growth even in the most painful way possible. Michelle has some demons to exorcise and Wyatt must let her do it, but he will have to force her to face everything if he wants them to have any chance at a life together. Both must grow and serve, painfully, and it's a terrible and beautiful journey to their redemption. Nicely done, Ann. :)

I thought this was a perfect ending for Michelle and Wyatt.
Both characters going through self discovery to help each other with their needs.
I liked the male bonding between Wyatt and James. They had a unique friendship and formed brotherhood.

I liked all the plots and subplots of the book. They really helped the reader get into their mindset.

I'm sorry to this this series come to an end. Maybe they will be found again if Yuki and James get their own book.

I thought book 1 was impressive. I was wrong. This is where you really fall in love with Watts and want to take him home with you. And although I wanted to beat Michelle on occasion, I understand why Ms Mayburn didn't rush her healing. Everything else in this book is so realistic than to suddenly have Michelle all honky dory would be implausible. I especially love that the author didn't try to stretch this out to 3 books just for the hell of it. Perfect!

OMG!!!!

OMG!!!!

Ann Mayburn has done it again! I loved Wyatt & Michelle in Still and was so glad to see them get their HEA in Penance. This book had it all sometimes gut wrenching, tear jerking but always loving. It's no wonder Ann is an auto buy for me. My only complaint is there will be no more Wyatt & Michelle.

What an amazing book! Ms. Mayburn took me on an emotional journey that I will not soon forget. I laughed, I cried, I felt so much with these bent but not broken characters. I can not recommend this book highly enough. Even if you think you don't like FemDom, you will like this book. It will make you look at FemDom in a whole new light. Ms. Mayburn is an absolute genius!

Wow

when I read the blurb I was not so sure I would like this story. I love bdsm storylines but I like the men to be Dominant not the women.
however, reading this story has opened my eyes.
beautifully written. fantastic characters. and a wonderful storyline. the characters were complex yet simple and easy to love.
thoroughly enjoyed this book as the sequel to the first

Well what can I say, I loved Wyatt right from the being of Still to the end of Penance. I can't say the same for Michelle, she was a spoilt, self-centred, selfish woman. She sure didn't deserve a man like Wyatt. I had a few moments where I was on the fence but, other than that, I just felt like kicking her in the ass & smacking her.

This book was certainly a roller coaster of emotions, it was dark and angsty and I felt it really captured the essence of the struggle with mental illnesses and it was dealt with in a believable fashion, Wyatt and Michelle would have to be one of my favourite couples
